Columbus Short Accused of Home Invasion, Destruction

Columbus Short may be off Scandal. But he isn’t done creating scandals of his own. Mere days after Short confirmed his departure from the aforementioned ABC hit, the actor’s estranged wife (Tanee) alleges he broke into the couple’s home and totally ransacked the residence. In new court documents filed this week, Tanee claims Short violated his restraining order over Easter weekend when he broke a door of its hinges inside her house, tore off her bed sheets and left many lights on. Short’s wife now says she is afraid for her life and for the life of her daughter. Earlier in April, Tanee accused Short of threatening her life with a knife. She obtained a restraining order as a result, but the actor believes it doesn’t apply to their home because his name is on the lease. Short was also recently arrested on battery charges stemming from his role in a bar brawl on March 15. Short starred on Scandal since the opening episode, portraying a fixer named Harrison Wright. But his character was left in peril on the Scandal Season 3 premiere. We don’t think he’ll be making it out alive.

Matt Lauer: Too Soft on Chris Brown?

Matt Lauer can’t win these days. The Today host is taking heat for his interview with Chris Brown, with some viewers saying he was too tough and others saying he wasn’t tough enough. Some Chris Brown fans are angry that he even brought up the 2009 beating of Rihanna, and whether or not he’ll do that again (Chris says he absolutely won’t ). Brown’s detractors, meanwhile, believe that Lauer danced around the seriousness of the brutal attack by not referring to it directly or for long enough. Lauer asked Chris about “the incident in 2009″ as well as what he thought of the “cynics” who believe Brown’s abusive ways are not behind him. “So the cynics / skeptics are the ones not forgiving Chris Brown for BEATING THE S**T OUR OF HIS GIRL? Okay, cool Matt Lauer,” Tweeted one viewer. Wrote another: “Matt lauer: ‘ Chris Brown was charged with a felony in 2009.’ Quite a way to say someone beat the shit out of his girlfriend. #journalism.” Another: “F the @todayshow for having @chrisbrown an admitted abuser of women on. Disgusting. You couldn’t find anyone else on the show? Shame.” On the flip side, some die-hard Brown fans (collectively Team Breezy) took Lauer to task for even bringing up the Rihanna beating in the first place. Among their comments: “Matt Lauer was getting annoying!!!! Interview was more about him and @rihanna then it was about his music! leave him alone!” #teambreezy “typical!!!! stop talking about what happened in 2009!!!” “People are so damn nosey. I just wanted to hear @chrisbrown’s new single but these guys they keeps talking bout some bullsh*t.” What do you think? Was Matt too harsh? Too soft? Or just right? Check out the interview above, then vote in our survey below and tell us …   Too soft! Way to lob those questions in there, Matt. Too harsh! Why keep bringing up Rihanna at all?! He did okay. Struck a nice balance. View Poll »

Justin Bieber: Banned from Vienna Club After Entourage Melee

You didn’t think a day would go by without controversy surrounding Justin Bieber, did you? With battery charges against the singer likely headed for prosecution , The Austrian Times now reports that Bieber has been banned from that city’s most popular nightclub after his entourage pretty much destroyed it. On the scene at Passage last night, Bieber’s bodyguards reportedly smashed cameras of adoring fans, tossed away cell phones in their faces and – according to management – even groped a few of the young girls in attendance, reducing them to tears. Said the club’s manager: “Justin Bieber is no longer welcome here.” If this report is true, it’s merely the latest in an ongoing string of ugly incidents for Bieber while he tours Europe. There was the collapse on stage in London. The curse-laden showdown with a British photographer. The donning of gas masks in public. The rare wearing of a shirt while walking through streets and airports. Aware of the negative publicity, Bieber recently said he’s a good guy who wants to be a role model and is just having fun. But the more these stories pile up, the more it must be asked: Is Justin Bieber having too much fun?

In RHOA News: “Old Man” Peter Peter The Punany/Woman Beater Speaks On Battery Charges And Alleged Incarceration

Cynthia Bailey’s poor husband Peter has been falsely accused: “Real Housewives of Atlanta” husband, Peter Thomas, isn’t heading to jail and was recently found not guilty of battery. Despite reports that a charge of simple battery might result in Peter’s incarceration, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” husband told Sister 2 Sister that there was really no threat of his being found guilty as a result of the incident that happened more than a year ago. According to Peter, his accuser was a woman who was acting up in his restaurant and throwing plates. After asking her to leave, he returned about 30 minutes later and was accused of pushing her. Peter said she slipped and the former employees who testified on his behalf backed his story. Police were called to the scene, which is routine procedure in a case where assault is reported. He was charged and spent 17 hours in jail when the incident first happened. Hmmmm….we guess we’ll believe you on this one Peter! Via Sister 2 Sister

Oksana Grigorieva to Sue Mel Gibson For All Kinds of Stuff; Probably Vice Versa

Despite Mel Gibson’s no contest plea to battery last week, Oksana Grigorieva plans to file a lawsuit alleging battery, emotional distress and defamation. Sources close to Gibson say he will wage legal war if Oksana does so. Forget settling out of court … it is ON like legal Donkey Kong this time around. The actor will “gladly” file his own lawsuit against the woman he says put a $15 million price on the Mel Gibson tapes in return for keeping quiet. It could be just beginning for Mel and Oksana … Oksana’s lawyer, Daniel Horowitz, said “our position hasn’t changed” regarding Mel’s no contest plea and her plans to sue for myriad damages. This looming lawsuit likely played a huge role in Mel’s no contest plea on misdemeanor battery charges, for which he will serve no jail time. Pleading no contest subjected him to similar sentencing as a plea of guilty, but there was no admission of guilt that will bolster her claims. Basically, he denied her account before, he’s likely to keep denying it now, and Daniel Horowitz and Blair Berk are going to bill a lot of hours. [Photo: Fame Pictures]

Attorney for Danielle Staub to Seek Assault Charges Against RHONJ Cast Members

You’ve gotta love reality TV. On Monday night, Bravo aired an epic fight between Danielle Staub and Teresa Giudice. It eventually resulted in Jacqueline Laurita’s 19-year-old daughter (Ashley Holmes) ripping out the former’s weave. This confrontation actually took place in November, however, as it was documented at the time and Holmes was forced by the court to pay a $189 fine. Case closed, right? Wrong says Staub’s lawyer, Paul Giblin. Speaking to Hollywood Life, he said of the incident :
