Anthrax’s Frank Bello Says Penn Badgley ‘Blew Me Away’ In Greetings From Tim Buckley

Thrash metal god Frank Bells says Penn Badgley nailed his portrayal of the late singer Jeff Buckley in Greetings From Tim Buckley  — and he’s one to know. As unlikely as it may seem, the Anthrax bassist, who plays punk icon Richard Hell in the movie, is, as he put it, “a Jeff Buckley diehard forever.”  And after seeing the film for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday night, Bello was singing Badgley’s praises. At a post-screening dinner at Bloke & 4th on King Street, Bello told me he was initially skeptical when he learned the Gossip Girl actor would be playing the sui-generis singer, but any lingering doubts he had were dispelled in Toronto. “I hadn’t seen any dailies or anything before tonight, and Penn blew me away.” Bello said. The Anthrax bassist added that he was particularly impressed by what will probably become the most talked-about scene in the movie: in which Badgley does an extended octave-jumping a cappella  singing improvisation in a New York City record store.  “When Penn did that record-store scene, I was like fucking go for it dude. And he literally went for it. He let go. He became that character, ” Bello said. “And, as a Buckley fan, that’s all I could ask of somebody who played him.  Penn went for it. And he got it.” Directed by Daniel Algrant ( People I Know ),   Greetings From Tim Buckley  is about Jeff’s attempts to get out from under the shadow cast by his late father, singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, who’s portrayed by Ben Rosenfield in the picture.  Buckley pere died from a drug overdose at the age of 28, but, despite his short life, left behind a substantial, mostly critically acclaimed body of work, including nine studio albums. Jeff Buckley was working on his second album in Memphis, Tenn. when he drowned while swimming in the Wolf River there. He was 30. Toronto festival goers who attended the screening gave it a big round of applause at the end, but saved their most raucous cheering for Badgley, who gives a break-out performance in this picture. At the party, Bello, who also makes memorable use of his screen time in Greetings , told me that his plan is to do more acting next year when Anthrax will be off writing a new album.  “I always wanted to be a character actor,” the theatrically trained Bello told me. “I love the process.” Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Kim Kardashian Gets It “All The Way” Poppin With Australian Bodyguard On Reality Show

Well what do we have here…. Kim Kardashian recently told Piers Morgan that she was ‘devastated’ over her sex-tape being leaked in 2007. But that hasn’t stopped her filming graphic scenes in bed on an upcoming episode of her reality TV show. The star jumped back into bed with her former Australian flame Shengo Deane during a soon-to-be aired episode of Kourtney And Kim Take New York. It seems that nothing is off bounds for Kim and the 30-year-old socialite is seen locked in embrace with her former bodyguard, before sleeping with him in her bedroom. The next morning the couple snuggle underneath Kim’s white sheets and kiss on camera before Sydney-based Shengo has to perform the ‘walk of shame’ out of her New York apartment. The pair, who originally met while Kim was visiting Sydney last year, organised to meet up in the Big Apple after Shengo sent Kim an email saying hello. Insatiable Kim describes her bloke from Down Under as: ‘Tall, dark and has the sexiest Australian accent.’ The saucy episode is still set to air, which was filmed before Kim started dating her new basketballer boyfriend Kris Humphries. And it is just the latest risqué scene aired on the string of Kardashian reality TV series. Before Kim and Kourtney created their New York series, their family show Keeping Up With The Kardashians showed Kourtney giving birth to her son Mason along with a number of other personal scenes. Nothing seems to be off limits during Kim’s quest for fame and it seems to be working, as it has landed her numerous modelling deals with magazines such as FHM and Playboy. This heffah will do anything for some ratings…SMH. Source

Would you like bruises with that? MP Paul Gibson bashed in McDonald’s carpark … NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA…

A LABOR MP was king-hit, thrown against a car and bashed in the carpark of a suburban McDonald's. The NSW MP claimed his American assailant repeatedly told him, “This is how we do it in America” during Sunday's attack outside the fast-food restaurant in Thornleigh, in Sydney's north. Paul Gibson, who reported the incident to police, said he was lucky to survive the attack, which knocked him out. “How he didn't kill me I don't know,” he said, adding that he and a female companion were parking after a function when he gave the man sitting in the next car a “friendly toot”. The man then got out and guided Mr Gibson in. The MP for Blacktown said the man then accused him of running over his foot, before king-hitting him. He said the man grabbed him by the throat, threw him into the bonnet of a 4WD and smashed his head on the cement. Mr Gibson said the man repeatedly said “This is how we do it in America” as he pounded Mr Gibson's head. When people came to drag off the attacker, Mr Gibson said he said, “This is how we do it in Australia” and hit the man back, causing him to bleed. The pair were separated and Mr Gibson claimed he was told by a bystander that the man had a revolver. Mr Gibson and his companion, who he said was a “friend” and would not name, then made a report to police. Mr Gibson said yesterday: “I got out and he said, 'You ran over my foot'. I said, 'Mate, if I ran over your foot, I'm sorry, are you OK?' “I went to walk into McDonald's – the next thing I know I'm in la la land. I didn't know if I'd had a heart attack or what. “Next thing I knew I'm flying through the air. Everyone tells me this bloke's come up, punched me in the back of the head, grabbed me by the throat. “I could hear him say, 'This is how we do it in America, this is how we do it in America.' How he didn't kill me I don't know.” Mr Gibson said he was close to losing consciousness during the attack and has since had X-rays to identify whether he had a broken shoulder and ribs. Police are appealing for information to identify the attacker. The man police want to speak to was “of African American appearance, 185-187cm tall, an acne-scarred complexion and with a solid build”. added by: eden49
