Source: Jamie McCarthy / Getty Jonathan Van Ness Talks About His HIV Diagnosis In New Memoir Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness has revealed he’s HIV positive and is speaking publicly for the first time about living with the diagnosis. In a recent interview with the New York Times — which ran accompanied by an extract from his forthcoming memoir Over the Top– Van Ness opens up about being diagnosed at the age of 25. After fainting at work, Jonathan visited Planned Parenthood, which is where he found out he had HIV. Even though there are currently more than one million people living with HIV in the United States, the stigma surrounding it is still very real. After revealing his own diagnosis, Van Ness recalled his reluctance to discuss his status once his career launched him onto millions of TV screens. “When Queer Eye came out, it was really difficult because I was like, ‘Do I want to talk about my status?’ And then I was like, ‘The Trump administration has done everything they can do to have the stigmatization of the LGBT community thrive around me.’” Jonathan also goes on to speak openly about his experiences as an addict and a sexual abuse survivor. “It’s hard for me to be as open as I want to be when there are certain things I haven’t shared publicly,” he said. “These are all difficult subjects to talk about on a makeover show about hair and makeup. That doesn’t mean Queer Eye is less valid, but I want people to realize you’re never too broken to be fixed.” After revealing such personal details about his life, Van Ness has been bombarded with support from friends, fellow celebrities, and fans who watch him on TV every week. Even though CBS claims that Pauley Perette and Mark Harmon settled their differences , Pauley is not returning to NCIS . In fact, rumor has it that the seemingly unstoppable series is going to feature yet another dramatic casting shakeup. Could Gibbs get the boot and be replaced by a character fans never thought they’d see again? Rumors have been circulating that NCIS could have a major casting shakeup. Some speculation shared to Reddit suggests that the show may lose its 67-year-old lead, played by Mark Harmon, for a familiar face. “Gibbs is old now, I stand by that the only way this show can continue is if Ziva takes his place as team lead,” writes one Redditor. That same post continues: “Oh how wonderful that would be.” “They could just write that for her child’s protection Tony is taking care of her in hiding,” suggests another. That Reddit post adds: “I wouldn’t be mad at all, anything to have her back.” Back in 2005, Kate was famously murdered during an episode that shocked NCIS fans to their cores. This is when Cote de Pablo joined the cast, playing a complicated and tough-as-nails Mossad agent, Ziva David. Her character was a relentless badass, and brought something to the show even as characters and fans alike were mourning Kate. But in 2013, Ziva was seemingly killed off. It was years later, in 2016, that she surprised fans by being secretly alive. Could she make a return and take the helm of the show? Not all NCIS fans are convinced — particularly those of the older demographic who want their regular dose of Mark Harmon. “Heard what I hope is a stupid rumor; that ‘Ziva’ will be replacing ‘Gibbs,'” one woman tweeted. The tweet continued: “The only way I will continue to watch # NCIS is if Gibbs is promoted to Director.” “I’ve stuck with you through ‘Kate’s’ murder, ‘Tony’ leaving, ‘Abby’s’ leaving, & ‘Ducky’s’ reduced role,” the longtime fan wrote. “Enough.” Clearly, there are strong opinions on both sides of the aisle. There may be some logistical, in-universe barriers to Ziva returning to the fold and taking the helm. “[Timothy] McGee (played by Sean Murray) is the Senior Agent,” points out one Redditor. (Most of us Millennials know Sean Murray better from his role as Thackery Binks in Hocus Pocus , but he’s been with NCIS for the long haul) “And I really like him,” the original Ziva theorist replies. “But his character is not enough to replace Gibbs as team lead.” “In regards to NCIS continuing in ratings,” the Redditor continues. “I think Ziva is the only beloved team member by fans who could carry this show.” Still, some folks were simply not convinced. “She’s the junior NCIS agent, had divided loyalties,” one Redditor argued. Yeah, that was kind of her schtick for countless episodes. Ziva also “has been missing for years & was officially considered dead,” the Reddit denizen countered. Now, it’s not every day that you see the words “Duggar” and “slutty” in the same sentence. Which is probably why so many reality TV junkies were shook by a tweet describing Bachelor In Paradise star Caelynn Miller-Keyes as “the lost, slutty Duggar sister.” Now, if you’re a member of Bachelor Nation, you’re probably familiar with Caelyn from Colton’s season of The Bachelor , as well as the current season of Bachelor In Paradise . We don’t think her behavior on either show could ever really be described as “slutty,” but maybe it’s a relative thing. Khloe Kardashian’s ex has found happiness! No, not Tristan Thompson , the other equally terrible one — Lamar Odom. Lamar, who was legally married to Khloe for seven years, has made it super known that he has moved on and has found love with new GF — health and life coach Sabrina Parr! The two began speculating romance rumors after TMZ captured videos of them making out in public, but it was pretty much confirmed later on after they decided to go Instagram official on us. A source, however, quickly made a rather odd allegation against the new couple, telling People that whatever was going on between them was “fake.” “They are not dating,” the source said. “There is nothing romantic going on with Sabrina and Lamar. It’s fake.” But Odom, who has been extremely vocal about his “new woman” on social media, shut down the reports right away. And now, he is speaking out about his relationship with Parr. Odom said: “It’s the truth. She’s black.” “When a black woman comes along, ain’t playing,” Hayes joked, then Parr added, “Oh no, I was not playing at all.” “Yeah, she keeps it real,” Odom gushed. Hayes then went on to question Parr, asking her how on earth she was able to give Lamar ” a chance”, despite his rough past with sex and drug addiction, as well as his near-fatal overdose in 2015 . Odom spoke first and said “Sometimes pain, I think, attracts women. The pain I’ve been through.” But Parr had a different, more understandable answer. “That wasn’t my story, I wasn’t attracted to the pain and the drama,” she said. “You have to meet people where they are.” “He was never in a position to be someone’s husband, you know?” the life coach added. “He was sick, he needed to heal, he neede to grieve. Earlier this month, Phaedra shared her opinion on Kandi saying she would have to sit out Real Housewives of Atlanta if they considered bringing her former friend back . “I find it amusing, because if she is that concerned about me three years later, I must have really impacted her life,” Phaedra told The Daily Mail . “So I’m glad I touched her like that.” But Kandi doesn’t find anything about Phaedra funny, especially after she was found to have been the one who helped start the rumor that Kandi and husband Todd were was trying to drug and take advantage of Porsha Williams sexually. That rumor was found to not be true, and during the reunion, when it came out that Phaedra was the one behind it, she seemed more confused than remorseful . Meghan Markle just wants to get her creative juices flowing. But the Hollywood actress-turned-royal Duchess is finding it difficult to adapt to her new life filled with strict rules set in place by the palace. Rules that are apparently restricinting her from writing a book. A tell-all book to be exact, a book that is basically everything we have ever wanted and more, but the palace is silencing Markle’s wish. And the people’s dreams. Radar Online recently reported that the Duchess of Sussex is feeling “oppressed by the palace” ever since they immediately shut down her idea of writing a tell-all memoir. A source told Radar that the new mom had the idea of releasing a part lifestyle bible, part memoir to document her rise to royalty and all the struggles that come with it. But not at all to our surprise, the palace was not fond of the idea. “Meghan had started keeping notes about her life, which will include a few personal details about Harry and baby Archie, but will mainly focus on her lifestyle, health, fashion and design choices,” shared the insider. “The only problem is, palace staffers — and the Queen — are firm in their disapproval, worrying that it will be received as a salacious tell-all.” But come on Meghan is a woman of class, and she wouldn’t dare bash the family’s regal history — at least, not too bad anyway. Some, however, believe Meghan to be a nuisance to the kingdom and think she has been rubbing the royals the wrong way ever since she married Prince Harry in May 2017 . Also, considering the many reports on Meghan’s on-going feud with Kate Middleton , her too trendy of fashion choices, and her outrageous Hollywood diva requests, the palace is terrified her book would be a chance to expose or embarrass them. “They’re terrified she’ll accidentally expose palace secrets and cause embarrassment and are demanding she knocks the project on the head,” said the source. “Meghan can’t help but feel that once again, her creative talents are being stifled at every turn.” But we’re sure Meghan will find a way to win back her creative freedom. Paige Drummond, the 19-year old daughter of one of the world’s most famous chefs and homemakers, was arrested in mid-April. The details of this arrest are only just coming to light now. According to legal documents obtained by E! News and other outlets, the teenage child of Ree Drummond (also known as The Pioneer Woman) was taken into custody this spring for having and consuming alcohol. (How dare she, right?!?) Based on these papers, Paige was charged with possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age, as well as public intoxication. The records show she was charged and taken to jail in mid-April in her home state of Oklahoma. Paige is Reed’s second oldest child. According to a document filed by a district attorney, Paige “did appear in a drunken condition” in the city of Stillwater, Oklahoma. The crime is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fee of up to $500, although, come on, let’s face it: Clearly the 19-year old will not face punishments this harsh. Nor should she probably, in our opinion. There’s a little bit more to report, however: The teenager was found in possession of an open container of beer, to which the legal document claimed she “did unlawfully possess and consume a non-intoxicating beverage, containing more than one-half of one-percent of alcohol measured by weight, in a public place.” The daughter of this wildly popular food blogger and television host paid a total of $404.50 thus far in court fees for the alleged crimes. Ree sky-rocketed to fame through her Food Network program, but she has also released a number of recipe books and has earned universal acclaim throughout the food world. Ree also has a 21-year-old daughter Alex, who recently graduated from college, and two teenage sons, Bryce and Todd. She has frequently jokeed to her followers about how strict she is as a parent, saying, for instance, that she refuses to say the word “boyfriend” for her daughters’ significant others. We’d call that more odd than strict, but hey. To each her own, we suppose. Ree has not yet commented on the charges against her daughter. In addition to her widely successful television show, Ree’s culinary career includes a line of cookbooks and cookware, all of which spawned from a simple blog. She’s a role model to many followers. Columbia Pictures even acquired the film rights to her book From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels in March 2010, but hasn’t made any forward progression since that time. What do you think? Check out the highlights below. — Jada : I was really moved by your book in terms of you repairing your relationship with your daughter. Because we had a little bit of that in our house. Will just thought that winning, he thought providing was enough. Until one day, Willow was like, ‘This is hurting me.’ Willow : I don’t even think it was a conversation. It was just me choosing to be like ‘No.’ Jada : This was during the “Whip the Hair.” It took her and that relationship for him to stop and reevaluate what is love. Common : My daughter Omoye confronted me. It was a late-night call so I thought I was getting a call like, ‘I’m a cool dad.’ It was 2 in the morning. I had to start a film the next day so I said, ‘Ima call you back. Let’s talk tomorrow.’ And she called me right back like, ‘Yo, you don’t even care. You ain’t even see where I was at.’ And it really, it shook me for a minute. I was like, ‘What are you talking about? I do care.’ And her mother and I weren’t together. Eventually, that conversation turned into her saying you weren’t there for me, you didn’t fight for me as a father. It made me feel defensive. I was hurt and I was mad too. I was like, ‘You really believe some of this stuff.’ What I really learned, after I got past my own ego, I said, ‘Look, you right, I didn’t fight.’ And I had to acknowledge that. I just need to listen to her because this is what she’s feeling. No matter what I think I’ve done and this and that, this is how she feels. And that was one of those the heavens open moments and how to apply love more. Jada : In the way it looked for her. You probably thought you were doing your thing. Common : I didn’t grow necessarily with my father, right? So a lot of ways I learned to be a man is from my homies and other father figures. And the provide and protect are the two most important things we learn. And I’m a caring individual but I had to get past just providing and protecting because love is a action word. That type of understanding and just paying attention is what we weren’t equipped with… When you put the truth on the table, it strengthens the relationship. Omoye was harboring those feelings. She felt like, ‘I didn’t always have my dad here so if I tell him some stuff he did wrong, I’ll have him less.’ Once she was able to put it out, she felt liberated and free. And now, she’s more secure in the fact that you can tell your dad whatever you need to tell him and the love is going to be there. We had our own therapy session together. And she was smart about it. She was like, ‘Dad, before this book come out we need to resolve this.’ We’re doing great overall, she just graduated from Howard University. Common : She was like did this really happen to you? I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And that’s when she started processing. and she said, ‘I really am proud of you.’ When your daughter tell you she’s proud of you, you feel that. His relationship with his mother affecting his romantic relationships with women Common : My mother gave me all the love she could but some of that love was even pain because of her and my father not being together and that struggle. A single mother sometimes will put the responsibility of a husband on a young boy. And the child is like, he’s trying to do his best but he can’t do what a husband can do, just providing the emotional energy and love. And that eventually transfers into an intimacy avoidance. So anytime that show up in a [romantic] relationship, you’re like no. You’re like this feels familiar in a bad way. And the mothers they don’t know they’re doing that. They’re just trying to offer their love. I’ve been in situations where I’ve been in a good relationship but the woman, she needed certain things and I felt like it was being too much. It reminded me of my mother. I need to identify is this really happening and if it is, I should be able to communicate that and say the things I need. And that’s what the therapy has helped me with. And I’m like, ‘Black people, let’s use therapy, man.’ From a personal level to a generational level, we can use it to heal. Jada : There was a line in the book where you thought love was desire. Common : Men really identify this yearning for this person being a love thing. When that in love, honeymoon phase goes, I would go, ‘This don’t feel as good.’ I would start coming up with excuses on why the relationship is not gon work. ‘When I’m in relationships, I don’t do work as well.’ My albums are not as good or I don’t focus.
