Mahershala Ali And Viggo Mortensen Tells Stories Of People Butchering Their Names

Continue reading here:

Make it a priority to go see Green Book starring Mahershala Ali. The movie tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Dr. Don Shirley a black classical pianist and Tony Lip Vallelonga an Italian bouncer who gets hired to drive Dr. Shirley through the Jim Crow south for a string of performances in a bunch of whites-only venues. I sat down with Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen , the stars of Green Book for an interview about the film where they open up about two of the best-acted roles of the year. You are likely to hear their names mentioned all throughout awards seasons. They chatted about working with one another, falling into these characters and we even got a laugh about how people mispronounce their names. Mahershala who puts on an epic performance as Dr. Don Shirley reveals they started building their chemistry before they started filming, “There is no greater feeling in acting, or in this craft than to work with somebody you feel like you’re with every step of the way. We just really did the dance from before we started shooting. From sitting in the hotel in New Orleans going through the script and reading it through together and we locked into something really early and it just never left us.” Green Book is one of the best movies of the year and right now it’s number 1 on my list. When I sit down and go back over all the movies I have seen this one will rank high on my list of movies. I’m sure you’ll see it in a bunch of top 10 list of other popular top ten list as well. There has been a lot of chatter about this movie and how it’s told from Tony’s perspective but in my opinion that doesn’t take away from the quality of the film. While this is a feel-good movie, there isn’t anything wrong with that. America is a racist country that continues to this day to have deep roots in that flawed ideology and just because one movie decides to tell the story of two people coming together despite their differences doesn’t mean it’s implying that racism is over. It’s just a story. The more movies they make like this the closer we get to a place where we can all get along. Green Book hits theaters everywhere Wednesday, go see with the family after Thanksgiving dinner.

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Who Won Season 27?

Did Dancing with the Stars deliver another shocking twist to close out Season 27?  In a season that has been filled with controversy, with fans ruling it a popularity contest as opposed to a dancing competition, there have already been some headscratchers.  From the surprise elimination of Tinashe early into the season to last week’s stunning elimination of Juan Pablo Di Pace on the same night he landed two perfect scores, we think it’s fair to say fans are less than impressed with the series.  Hey, that’s not to say we still think Milo Manheim, Alexis Ren, Bobby Bones, and Evanna Lynch could even be ruled as celebrities.  To the casual viewer, this season probably feels like a civilian edition, and we can’t blame them. But how did those final routines pan out and did they even matter when it came to the final vote?  Let’s break them down one last time! Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten — Argentine Tango 27/30; Freestyle: 30/30 It was clear from the first week of the competition that there was a lot going for both Alexis and Alan. They had the chemistry sorted and later embarked on a relationship.  Their Argentine Tango was not without flaws, and it was a misstep for this otherwise solid pair. Thankfully, they pulled it back with a rock-solid freestyle that showed why viewers are voting for them: They’re both flexible as hell! Bobby Bones and  Sharna Burgess —  Cha-Cha: 24/30; Freestyle: 30/30 Bobby has come across as a mere novelty act. The radio personality has charisma for days, but he’s been lacking as far as dancing ability goes.  It’s surprising he lasted this long in the competition. His Cha-Cha with Sharna was much of the same, but the Freestyle definitely kicked things up a few gears.  Where has that  level of dancing been all season long? It did seem like it was too little, too late, but we still had the results to go.  Milo Manheim and Witney Carson — Charleston: 30/30; F reestyle : 30/30 Next to Juan Pablo, Milo seemed like the next best thing. He and Witney have been pulling in high scores all season long, and the pair secured another two perfect scores.  They perform well together and are confident. Whoever put them together at the start of the season knew they would make for a powerful duo.  Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe — Halloween Night tango: 30/30; Freestyle: 30/30 Evanna started the season off in the middle of the pack, but she quickly adapted, and got her confidence back as the season progressed.  Pulling off two perfect scores in one night is difficult, but it shows just how far she’s come since that first week.  After all of those performances, there was still room for Grocery Store Joe to show up with some of his Bachelorette alumni to prove why he should have been kicked out in the first week.  Seriously though, who the heck was voting for that dude? In the end, Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess secured the Mirrorball Trophy, and yes, it’s got to be one of the biggest twists to rock the series.  It’s high time the dancing had a higher weighting on the results because the viewer vote is starting to ruin the show.  Will there be changes implemented? Time till tell.  In the meantime, congratulations Bobby and Sharna! What are your thoughts on the finale? Hit the comments below! View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars: The Odds are Out! Zoe Kravitz & The Cast Talk Fantastic Beasts 2, Recreating Her Mother’s iconic Pose & More | Extra Butter

Here is the original post:

Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters this Friday and I give you an inside look at the Wizard movie everyone loves. I also had the privilege of hosting a packed screening for 150 of New York’s top influencers including Kid Fury, Raqi and Ro James . Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images After the screening, we headed to Las Lap, New York’s hottest new bar for an afterparty sponsored by Martell Cognac that had custom drinks like the Fantastic Beast and Scamander Punch. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images One of our favorite cast members from HBO’s Insecure Sarunas J Jackson stopped by the after party capping off an overall good night in New York City. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images Now as an added bonus today on Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we dive deep into life’s magic, blessings and some great moviemaking moments from the cast of this Fantastic Beasts sequel as Eddie Redmayne, Zoe Kravitz, Jude Law, Katherine Waterson, Ezra Miller and the entire cast help us craft a fun video filled with laughs and magic. Zoe even tells us about how she couldn’t wait for the world to see her recreate her mother’s iconic pose for her latest magazine cover and the loved everyone’s reaction to seeing it. “It was really cool I had been really excited to share it with the world. I was excited to let it out there and it was cool that a lot of people were as excited as I was about it.” Zoe had to wait a couple of months for the world to see the art she did in honor of her mother. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images We also talked about the magic that exists in real life, stepping out of the movie world to honor the wonders that are around us. New cast member Claudia Kim felt like being plucked out of Korea and straight to Hollywood was magical while Ezra and Zoe love the magic of just living. The best was probably Jude Law who just love the wisteria in his garden, “My garden is pretty magical and particular the wisteria. I’m in love with the wisteria my girlfriend keeps finding my outside just staring at the wisteria because this thing just doesn’t stop growing.” Overall Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes Of Grindelwald is a fun movie that brings you deep into the Wizarding World and will leave you flabbergasted at the secret it tells. Eddie Redmayne and Katerine Waterston continue to make movie magic together in their own awkward way and when you add in Ezra Miller, Johnny Deep and Zoe Kravitz the chemistry really shines on screen.

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Who Went Home?

The dancers went from New York City to Las Vegas Tuesday night as Dancing With the Stars turned up the heat and had all of the competitors perform a second routine in one week.  Yes, the stakes were higher than ever before! But who managed to stay in the game, and who was given the boot following another awkward dance?  Let’s break down the performances, and the results, shall we? Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke   Juan and Cheryl danced the Foxtrot to “Why Don’t You Do Right?” by Peggy Lee. It was a sultry performance that continued to keep them in good standing with the judges.  The minor niggle came from Len, and it was all about Juan’s frame, but who the heck cars when you can dance as well as Juan does? Judges’ Score: 26/30 Milo Manheim and Witney Carson “Put on your heels, the sky’s the limit,” said Celine Dion ahead of the duo dancing the Tango to “Ashes.” Milo and Witney took that quite literally because they went all out with their latest number, and the judges were even shocked by it.  Judges’ Score: 26/30 Danelle Umstead and Artem Chigvintsev Danelle and Artem went with the Quickstep to “Luck Be a Lady,” and it highlighted what could go wrong for Danelle.  Her disease rendered her blind, so she was scared of the Quickstep because it was a high energy and high stakes routine.  While the other couples are improving every performance, it seems these two have already peaked.  Judges’ Score: 19/30 Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten Despite being the surprise success of the season, Alexis was blindsided by how demanding this routine actually was, and she left Alan in rehearsals.  Their Tuesday performance that included the Salsa to “Booty” by Jennifer Lopez took a hit as a result, but it was still solid when compared to some of the others.  Judges’ Score: 24/30 John Schneider and Emma Slater John has struggled since the season premiere because he’s rather wooden. His Jive to “King Creole” by Elvis Presley was not all that.  He has a lot of energy but he struggles actually to put that into the performance, and that’s what could ultimately cost him his place in the competition.  Judges’ Score: 20/30 DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold After building up a lot of momentum with their first two performances, that all slowed down with the Quickstep dance to “Ladies Man” by Boyz II Men.  There was something really off with this performance, and it could be down to the height of DeMarcus. They look mismatched as a result.  Judges’ Score: 23/30 Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson Joe may be improving, but there’s still a lot wrong with his dance moves. He lacks the skill, and Jenna wants to try and drum into him the fact that they’re skating around the bottom of the leaderboard.  The Jazz to “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers highlighted the fact that these two might be ready to dance out of the ballroom.  Judges’ Score: 18/30 Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe Evanna and Keo are going from strength-to-strength and their high energy Jive to “Heat Wave” by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas was excellent.  Judges’ Score: 24/30 Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess It turns out, there is such a thing as too much energy in the ballroom! The judges were not all that enthused by the Quickstep Bobby, and Sharna went with to “That Old Black Magic” by Sammy Davis Jr.  Could their exit be on the horizon? Judges’ Score: 19/20 Nancy McKeon and Val Chmerkovskiy Nancy is another middle of the pack performer who seems to have fizzled out early on. Her Paso Doble to “Storm from KA” by Cirque du Soleil was not her best dance yet.  She needs to adapt quickly if she wants to remain in the competition.  Judges’ Score: 20/30 Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong Tinasha has already performed with Britney Spears, so it was unsurprising that she went with “Circus” by the Queen of Pop.  Tinashe and Brandon have the chemistry sorted, so that was a huge positive. They could actually win, you guys! Judges’ Score: 26/30 Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber Mary Lou continued to build on her early success with the Samba to “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow. It was a rock-solid performance that proved she was willing to take risks.  The judges were happy with it so that reflected in the scores.  Judges’ Score: 24/30 At the end of the night, it was Danelle and Artem and John and Emma that were in danger. Danelle and Artem were sent packing.  It’s surprising Grocery Store Joe gets to dance again, but he could be leaving in the next week or two.  What are your thoughts on this? According To Kid Cudi, More Collab Albums With Kanye West Are In The Works

See the original post:

Source: Getty Last month,  Kid Cudi  and  Kanye West  finally released their highly anticipated collaboration album,  Kids See Ghosts.  Many people were struck with feelings of wanting more, since the seven-track project spanned just under 30 minutes–but if the project left you yearning for music, you’re in luck. The longtime friends and collaborators may have even more in store for fans. In his recent cover story with  Billboard ( published on Thursday, July 19), Cudi detailed his plans to create more albums in the same vein as his most recent effort with Kanye. “There are some songs that we didn’t use that I’m hopeful we can put out later. But the plan is to do more  Kids See Ghosts  albums,” Cudder revealed. He also speaks on the fact that he thinks him and West will always produce “awesome sh*t” together. “We just have this chemistry that’s undeniable, especially when we have to fight for it with each other,” he continued, adding that  Kids See Ghosts  took “a little over a year-and-a-half to just get it tight,” though the songwriting itself wasn’t difficult. “It’s really easy for us,”  he added. Also in the candid interview, Kid Cudi dishes on his time he spent in Wyoming creating the album, particularly commenting on his moments with Nas who also delivered a seven-track project this summer.  “It was really cool to be around Nas. That was the illest. We’d be chilling in the room, and then Nas would leave and we’d be like, ‘That’s fucking Nas.’ We’d be asking him questions about coming up in Queens, did he know Biggie , all these questions,” Cudi said excitedly. He continued, “I had a ball out there, man. Kanye had his family around. He had his dad there. And we knew what songs we wanted to use. We had ‘Reborn.’ We had ‘4th Dimension.’ We just took our time fine-tuning the process.” You can read Kid Cudi’s entire interview and cover story with Billboard here . Hopefully, more details regarding Cudi and Ye’s future music surfaces sooner than later.
