Liam Neeson Will Ghost You And You Won’t Find Him | Extra Butter

Read the original here:

Liam Neeson is one of my favorite people to interview. During our last sit down in New York City for his new movie Cold Pursuit we talked about ghosting. Now before I get into all of that allow me to tell you what the movie is about. In Cold Pursui t we meet Nels Coxman a guy living a quiet life that changes quickly when his beloved son dies under mysterious circumstances. His search for the truth soon becomes a quest for revenge as he seeks coldblooded justice against a drug lord and his inner circle. This movie is funny and filled with action and it’s Liam Neeson doing what Liam Neeson does best. Finding you and killing you in movies. Cold Pursuit is a remake of the Hans Petter Moland directed 2014 film In Order Of Disappearance that starred Stellan Skarsgard . Funny many people said Liam Neeson should have starred in that film so, Hans Petter Moland made one with Liam Neeson. It’s pretty much the same film, a funny revenge film set in the bitter cold. On this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we sit down with Liam to talk about filming in the cold, working with Hans Petter Moland and ghosting. If you’re not aware ghosting is when you suddenly stop contacting a person you’ve been dealing with. You don’t say goodbye, you don’t give notice you just… Poof. Vanish and become a ghost. I asked Liam if he’s ever been ghosted in real life to which he states no, he’s the one who does the ghosting. “I’ve done it several times,” Liam declares, adding that he won’t go into why because he still feels guilty about it. He continues, Sometimes you change in life and a person or people that used to be in your life suddenly don’t belong there anymore. It’s not because they’ve done anything wrong it’s just a wind of change sometimes comes into it. You get to an age where you’re like I’m not going to be bothered contacted that person because it is going nowhere.” It was a very candid and real moment of reflection from Liam that you can watch above. Liam also goes on to reveal how he felt about the movie, Cold Pursuit and working with the talented cast of Indigenous people during the filming. The movie from Lionsgate hits theaters everywhere February 8th, 2019. Keep checking back daily for new episodes of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine.

Bumblebee is personally my favorite Transformer movie ever. It’s a throwback of sorts and you immediately feel thrown back in time. With epic performances by Angela Bassett, John Cena, and Hailee Steinfeld director Travis Knight does the damn thing. On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town when Charlie played by the lovely Hailee Steinfeld, discovers a car that wasn’t there before. She is on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world when she barters for this car, she takes it home only to discover her new beat up VW is actually a Transformer named Bumblebee. The auto-bot is battle-scarred and broken and cannot talk anymore when Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow bug. On this episode of Extra Butter With Xilla Valentine, we talk to Angela Bassett about doing voice work. She was so good I didn’t even notice she was the evil Decepticon Shatter until the very end of the movie. A testament to how great she is in the role. We also talk to John Cena who plays the angry Agent Burn. I talked to him about being a bad guy for once. Overall this is a great film with exception acting that his theaters everywhere December 21st, 2018

Jamie Foxx Would Rob Floyd Mayweather To Give To The Poor | Extra Butter

If you could rob from the rich and give to the poor, who would you rob? Yeah. Us too but on this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we go inside the movie Robin Hood starring Jamie Foxx, Taren Egerton and Jamie Dornan. While this isn’t a modern update of Robin Hood it is told like you never seen before. Think of Batman but set in the dark ages. Taren plays Robin, Lord of Loxley who gets sent to war right after finding the love of his life who introduces him to the concept of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Years pass and he comes back home a war-hardened Crusader only to find his palace in Loxley a shell of it’s former self. While looking for his once wife he runs into a Moorish commander played by Jamie Foxx to mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown and the Sheriff of Nottingham in what is billed as a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and some sick arrow work. During our conversation, I asked Jamie Foxx if he could rob one of his family friends and give their money to the poor who would it be? “Floyd, I’d rob Floyd! I know where Floyd going to be!” As he burst into a spot on impression of the Money Team CEO and the best pound for pound boxer in the world. Jamie continues by pulling Taren into this hypothetical robbery plot, “We would both have to rob Floyd. Floyd has so much. Floyd would pull out a 40 million dollar check. It’s crazy.” Words don’t do it justice you really need to watch the video which is playing above. We also chatted about Rocketman the Elton John biopic that has it’s star Taren Egerton freaking out until he remembered a mantra and helped him out tremendously. Taren said, “In the run up to Rocketman I was slightly freaking out about it and someone just said to me ‘stay in the day.’ Stay in the day is a really good phrase I think because one, it rhymes. Two because you can’t tackle the whole beast. If you think about the whole beast you’re going to freak yourself out. Whereas if you chop off a leg and deal with that, then take a tail… You know you got to stay in the day.” Jamie loved the mantra going on to say he took a similar approach of being prepared for his movie Spawn as he did with Robin Hood which is a fun flick that hits theaters everywhere Thanksgiving.

Creed 2 is coming back bigger and better than ever. For Adonis the stakes are higher this time around, fighting is nothing new to him, he had to fight for everything he’s got so far so it’s no surprise that he will have to fight even harder to keep it. On today’s episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we take a deep dive into Creed II as we chat with Michael B Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren , and Florian Munteanu as well as director Steven Caple Jr, who was hand-picked by Ryan Coogler to take over the franchise. In order to fully understand this story, you gotta go back to 1985 when Russian boxer Ivan Drago killed Adonis’s father Apollo Creed in a tragic match that stunned the world. The former heavyweight champion died on live tv after fighting Ivan against the wishes of trainer Rocky Balboa. Rocky had to get into the ring with Ivan to avenge his friend’s death, but after that loss Ivan loss everything back home in Russia and has trained his son Viktor to be bigger and better than he was in his prime. So the rise of Apollo’s son Adonis Johnson Creed to champion, Ivan feels like this is the perfect time for redemption in order to get back all that was lost. Michael B Jordan gets to show off his acting ability in this movie by showing strength, emotion, athleticism and much more. He laughs, cries and fights all throughout this film. I talked to him about showing off his range. “It was incredible. This was the first time I’ve been able to do a sequel to any film that I’ve done before. I get to take this character to the next level, to show Adonis advance in his career and his relationship by really showing what black love really is. Giving him a family of his own, fatherhood something he never really knew how to do because he didn’t really have that growing up. We just wanted to challenge him in all aspects of life and see how he responds to it.” The visuals for this film are off the hook, if you have seen the trailer you know there is a dope sequence when Adonis trains as Muhammad Ali trained by shadow boxing underwater. Steven told me, “We wanted to pay homage but also we did something that was new, which was shadowboxing underwater and then lift out of the water with Michael, and the camera then goes back under water. It’s real boxing stuff. Michael also had ankle weights attached to his body so he could stay under which was super dangerous but it helped keep him grounded.” It’s an epic shot for an amazing movie filled with great fight sequences and a heartfelt story. Michael even took a punch to the chin when first-time actor Florian Munteanu got too wrapped up in his character and blacked out. Watch until the end of the video to hear that story. Creed 2 is in theaters everywhere tomorrow.

Zoe Kravitz & The Cast Talk Fantastic Beasts 2, Recreating Her Mother’s iconic Pose & More | Extra Butter

Here is the original post:

Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters this Friday and I give you an inside look at the Wizard movie everyone loves. I also had the privilege of hosting a packed screening for 150 of New York’s top influencers including Kid Fury, Raqi and Ro James . Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images After the screening, we headed to Las Lap, New York’s hottest new bar for an afterparty sponsored by Martell Cognac that had custom drinks like the Fantastic Beast and Scamander Punch. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images One of our favorite cast members from HBO’s Insecure Sarunas J Jackson stopped by the after party capping off an overall good night in New York City. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images Now as an added bonus today on Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine we dive deep into life’s magic, blessings and some great moviemaking moments from the cast of this Fantastic Beasts sequel as Eddie Redmayne, Zoe Kravitz, Jude Law, Katherine Waterson, Ezra Miller and the entire cast help us craft a fun video filled with laughs and magic. Zoe even tells us about how she couldn’t wait for the world to see her recreate her mother’s iconic pose for her latest magazine cover and the loved everyone’s reaction to seeing it. “It was really cool I had been really excited to share it with the world. I was excited to let it out there and it was cool that a lot of people were as excited as I was about it.” Zoe had to wait a couple of months for the world to see the art she did in honor of her mother. Source: Peter Monsanto / Fly Life Images We also talked about the magic that exists in real life, stepping out of the movie world to honor the wonders that are around us. New cast member Claudia Kim felt like being plucked out of Korea and straight to Hollywood was magical while Ezra and Zoe love the magic of just living. The best was probably Jude Law who just love the wisteria in his garden, “My garden is pretty magical and particular the wisteria. I’m in love with the wisteria my girlfriend keeps finding my outside just staring at the wisteria because this thing just doesn’t stop growing.” Overall Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes Of Grindelwald is a fun movie that brings you deep into the Wizarding World and will leave you flabbergasted at the secret it tells. Eddie Redmayne and Katerine Waterston continue to make movie magic together in their own awkward way and when you add in Ezra Miller, Johnny Deep and Zoe Kravitz the chemistry really shines on screen.

Chris Pine & Aaron Taylor Johnson Get Real For Outlaw King | Extra Butter

Netflix is about to take over the end of 2018 with a bunch of great movies but today we are talking about the movie you have to see this weekend if you decide to Netflix and chill. Outlaw King is an epic war movie that’s a little Game Of Thrones without all the fantasy and make-believe. This true story picks up after the events highlighted in Braveheart and follows Robert the Bruce, who has just been named the King of Scotland, after breaking a truce with England, the legendary warrior and a small group of men are forced into exile by the English army but he puts together a band of outlaws to help him reclaim the throne. On this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine I flew out to Scotland to sit down with Chris Pine who plays Robert the Bruce and Aaron Taylor-Johnson who gives a kick-ass performance as the ferocious James Douglas for an interview that took place at Borthwick Castle. Chris Pine talked about how authentic the movie feels saying, “The unique quality of this film for me, it’s a film on a huge scale like others I’ve done before but with Netflix, we were given an incredible amount of freedom and wherewithal to make to make a film by someones whose vision of that classic Hollywood film is very very different. One of the qualities of David Mckenzie that I most admire is his is his search for authentic moments. Often times it was just four cameras shooting us as we were being and there was no sense of the usual structure of a film set. So you just got more of a sense that you were happening rather than acting and that was very helpful.” My guy Aaron opened up about how he pulled off such a frightening character in order to make it believable. He told me, “These characters are from 6-700 hundred years ago and you’re looking at historical moments in time, he was a very feared character. The Black Douglas was someone that people would have nightmares about because of the violent brutality he brought upon his enemies, but he was also this romantic figure. When Robert the Bruce passed away he carried his heart towards the holy land in a casket around his neck. So I wanted to have this loveable character also.” Just listening to his explanation sent chills up my spine. Another thing that might be scary to some is that I got to feed a buzzard that you can see at the start of this episode. Back during the times of this movie, the natives would use large hunting birds to catch meals for their family and you get to see a bit of that in this episode of Extra Butter. I hope you enjoy and be sure to check out Outlaw King streaming on Netflix this weekend November 9th.

Claire Foy Reveals That Lakeith Stanfield Didn’t Want To Be Her Friend | Extra Butter

Read the rest here:

On this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine , I head out to Rome, Italy to sit down with my girl Claire Foy to check out her new movie The Girl In The Spider’s Web . In this film, she plays the role of Lisbeth Salander who has to steal a computer program that can access codes for nuclear weapons worldwide from Lakeith Stanfield who plays Alona Casales. When the stakes are this high the NSA is bound to be on the case, so they track the activity all the way to Stockholm. Things go off the wall when Russian thugs take Lisbeth’s laptop and kidnap a math whiz who can actually make the program work. This is when Lisbeth gets the help of and an unlikely ally to try to save the boy and recover the codes to avert disaster. One of the highlights of the film is the great acting by Lakeith and Claire, that director Fede Alveres explains their chemistry was beautiful to watch develop saying, “They are apart for a long time, but a big part of the story is Lakeith going after her and you can’t wait for him to get to her to see what’s going to happen because both of them are very capable at what they do. I think the audience never expects to see where it goes.” It was great to see these two develop magic. I asked Claire about Lakeith and she was very intrigued by the Atlanta star revealing he left her mesmerized, “I love Lakeith, I can listen to him talk for hours and the man is incredible young which I find terrifying. I love him, I think he so fascinating, he is an amazing actor. I think he is brilliant. We had a couple of nights where I just sat and went what do you think about this and what do you think about this? and Why? and What’s this? Yeah… I love him.” While her love for Lakeith was on one hunnid, his love for her might not have been on the same level. “I tried really hard to become his friend,” Claire explains that things didn’t go her way, adding. “Maybe I made him feel a little uncomfortable and he was like step back a little bit.” Maybe they’ll never be best friends forever, but they do a great job acting in scenes together. The Girl In The Spider’s Web is in theaters November 9th. Check out my interview with Claire Foy and you get to see me riding through the streets of Rome on a Vespa and roaming through the Colosseum then closing this episode out with one of the most beautiful backdrops ever.

A Star is Born is the new movie from Warner Bros that’s getting a lot of Oscar buzz after a successful premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper and Dave Chappelle come together to tell the story of a seasoned musician Jackson Maine who discovers a struggling artist Ally who works at a restaurant while doing side gigs at bars around town. Jackson who was on a search for another drink stops in a drag bar where Ally is performing and it’s love at first site. During one of his shows, he coaxes her into the spotlight and Ally becomes a big star. But as their relationship plays out to find out that Jackson’s demons will end up haunting the both of them. I headed to Toronto to discuss their new film A Star Is Born for an episode of Extra Butter. Bradley and Gaga discuss their on-camera chemistry as well as the price of fame. Bradley Cooper explained, “Fame is a result of being able to do what you… Fame comes from the success of being able to tell your story and have it be healing or entertaining and that’s the goal in life.” Gaga, who plays Ally says that her friendship with Bradley Cooper provided a sacred environment on set, “He used to tell me in the movie to Ally, all you have to do is trust me. That was very easy to do because he is so kind and so loving. He’s a brilliant filmmaker and I just wanted to give everything I had to him in this film.” Dave chimes in about how much he enjoys Bradley Cooper’s directing style. “The way he directed me and the way we would talk about the scene, and the way he would create an environment that gave me the courage to actually be vulnerable in a way that comedy would never let me be. I never felt threatened or unsafe,” Dave Chappelle said. The movie is in theaters everywhere October 5th, 2018, be sure to keep checking back to GloblGrind for more Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine

Lady Gaga On Ending The Tour With Kanye West & Mental Health

There is a saying that art imitates life and that’s what happens in the new film A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga , Bradley Cooper and Dave Chappelle hitting theaters October 5th. There is a scene in the film where Bradley’s character Jackson Maine, a singer who struggles with alcohol addiction, embarrasses Ally, Gaga’s character at the Grammy’s that reminded me of the aftermath of a drunk Kanye West snatching the mic from Taylor Swift at the VMAs. The now infamous incident led to the cancelation of Ye and Gaga’s joint tour in 2009 called Fame Kills. During Kanye’s mental breakdown that happened on stage back in 2016, Ye called Gaga ‘s cancellation of the tour “the beginning of the  end of my life .” Gaga would eventually tweet her support for Ye. During our interview, BlogXilla asked Lady Gaga to revisit that moment and she opens up about how it’s important to take care of your mental health. ‘A Star Is Born’ is in theaters everywhere October 5th, 2018
