Hollywood Jesus Dies; L.A. Legend Was 57

Not all Hollywood legends are movie stars. Some are living legends who walk the streets of West Hollywood, dressed as Jesus. Sadly, Kevin Short, the man known as Hollywood Jesus in L.A. and beyond, has passed away. He was 57 years old, and he is mourned by friends and also by complete strangers whose lives he touched. Have you ever heard the Aerosmith song, “Street Jesus,” by any chance? That’s about Hollywood Jesus. He’s also been featured in Lana Del Rey’s music videos. Most often, though, he’s been photographed by and with people walking the streets of West Hollywood. New York has the Naked Cowboy. Hollywood has its share of colorful characters who have become cultural fixtures, but Hollywood Jesus stood above the rest. Sadly, though the world is only now learning this news, Kevin Short (whose name has also been reported as Kevin Lee Light) passed away on December 13th. TMZ reports that he was hospitalized briefly for pulmonary issues beforehand, but unfortunately did not make it. After years as a cultural mainstay up and down Hollywood Boulevard, his death has grieved many who knew, met, or simply knew of him. Many of whom were celebrities. But really, anyone who works and lives in or around Hollywood has some awareness of the man. Those who had met him have taken to social media today to eulogize him: “Rest In Peace…I enjoyed meeting you #HollywoodJesus” Those who knew him best, of course, miss him most: “We all loved Kevin aka Jesus. Such a great guy. Beyond generous and supportive of all the comedians. He was part of The Comedy Store & Los Angeles. He walked almost everywhere, but I always gave him a ride home. I’ll miss him. Our last photo… RiP good friend.” That last photo is this one: Some tried to blend sadness with levity. Normally, we’d question whether that’s tasteful. But maybe that’s just what Hollywood Jesus would have wanted. “# of Jesus deaths under Obama: 0” That’s … that’s fair. “Going to give it three days before i mourn the loss of hollywood jesus.” Honestly, we thought of that joke but kept it to ourselves. From Plastic Martyr to Perez Hilton to Jared Leto, Hollywood Jesus was a frequent companion for selfies and other photos for people with a lot of name recognition. And, as we said, he was even a source of inspiration for some well known musical artists. He also reportedly gave fantastic backrubs. Kevin will always be loved, but now he will be missed. Did Mike really put the smackdown on a woman? Mike Epps Accused Of Assaulting Woman This isn’t a good look homie. According to TMZ: Mike Epps has been accused of punching a woman in the face Wednesday night after the premiere of “Haunted House 2″ — but sources close to Epps tell TMZ, the actor didn’t lay a finger on her. The incident occurred at the after-party at Lucky Strike in Downtown L.A. — law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the woman claimed she had a prior romantic relationship with Epps … and wanted to confront him about something. According to law enforcement sources, the woman told police Epps then punched her in the face. She called cops and filed a report, but cops say there was zero sign of injury on the woman. Epps also told police he never touched her. Sources close to Epps insist the woman was nothing more than a fan — we’re told the actor had asked for privacy because he was with his wife … and the woman allegedly grew belligerent, throwing a drink at both of them. We’re told Epps then asked security to escort her out of the party. Law enforcement sources tell us, the case has been referred to the domestic violence division because the alleged victim claims she had a prior relationship with Epps. The investigation is ongoing. Ayem Nour: I Banged Chris Brown (With Karrueche Tran’s Permission)

As if the ongoing love triangle featuring Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Karrueche Tran weren’t complicated enough, Ayem Nour claims she boned Brown this month. With Karrueche’s consent, no less. Nour, a popular French reality star and model, tells Oops! magazine (yes, that’s a real thing) that she had sex with Brown while he was partying with Tran in Paris. According to Nour, the sex was beautiful and she’s flattered to be in the same league as Rihanna … who was getting it on with Chris after he dumped Karrueche. Confused yet? Oops! magazine probably isn’t the most reliable tabloid, even by celebrity gossip standards, so obviously, whatever Ayem Nour claims is highly dubious. Just the same, in its latest issue – featuring Nour and the headline “I Slept with Chris Brown!” – she insists that she and Chris slapped bodies in Paris. After Nour, who supposedly first met Brown on his “Celebration” video set, explains that she and a friend were invited back to his room after a night of partying. “When we entered the room, there were a lot of people … it was very festive. There was alcohol, music … and a bit of grass,” says the Parisian brunette. Oh, and Karrueche Tran was there … and find with sharing her man. “[Karrueche] has never interfered in the relationship between Chris and me,” Nour explains, insisting that the duo is “rather open” when it comes to sexuality. The price of being back with Chris Brown, perhaps. Whatever works? As for Rihanna , Ayem says she’s proud to follow in her footsteps. Nour says, “It’s beautiful and flattering. I do not ask for much. Some will criticize me, but I put any girl in challenge to say no to Chris Brown.” Challenge issued, Jenny Johnson. Earlier this week, Christina Milian said that Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran are officially back together, just a few months after he dumped her for Rihanna. Or “because of his friendship” with Rihanna, to use Breezy’s official line. In any case, now you’re up to date. Who gets in Chris Brown’s pants yet is anyone’s guess, but let’s hope Rihanna, Karrueche and Ayem all use protection.

Katt Williams Slap: Blamed on N-Word!

Katt Williams has an explanation at least one of the many bizarre incidents he’s been involved in lately – slapping Target employee Forrest Liebenberg in the face. According to the comedian, it’s all because he called Katt the n-word. Katt Williams Slap In new video footage, the 39-year-old can be heard describing to the audience at Comedy Store in L.A. what happened just before he slapped the employee. In explaining the Katt Williams slap , the Katt said “This is what the dude at Target said, “‘Your assistant is already suing you, you p**sy ass [N-word].” The insult was an apparently reference to the lawsuit his former assistant has launched against him, suing him for $5 million. In response, Katt lost it. Williams says he bristled when he heard the Target worker use the N-word and asked the employee, “Did you just say the N-word in front of Katt Williams?” Liebenberg allegedly responded, “You say it all the time.” Katt claims he told the employee to repeat the word and see what happens, which is when he slapped Liebenberg, who was fired shortly after the incident. Williams’ explanation for the incident sheds some light on the bizarre encounter; however it doesn’t explain hitting an audience member with a mic . Or getting arrested after leading police on a chase on his three-wheel ATV, or getting arrested again after a bar fight, or threatening the manager with a pool cue. Or throwing a cigarette at a woman, or getting kicked out of a hotel, or announcing his retirement from stand-up comedy, or un-retiring two days later.
