Former Cop Who Killed Rekia Boyd Seeking Disability; Claims He Suffered PTSD From Shooting

Aside from the massive injustice of getting away with murder, what really bothers me most about a lot of the people who gun down young Black men and women and get away with it is that after the fact, quite a few continue to test their luck. They stay in trouble, make bold comments, or in the case of individuals like Dante Servin, the former Chicago cop who killed 22-year-old Rekia Boyd, try to make money off of it. Servin wants to be paid disability by the city and claims that he has PTSD from the crimes he committed. When he was more intrigued than shocked by her appearance, as she said, “That’s when I knew! ‘I guess we’re staying together.’” [ MadameNoire ] Country Singer Kenny Chesney Didn’t Smile During Beyonce’s CMA Performance, BeyHive Attacks The BeyHive accepts no slander, side-eyes or attempted shading of their queen Beyoncè. Kenny Chesney is finding that out now. Beyoncè gave the world more evidence of why she is the best at what she does at last night Country Music Awards. It was announced just hours before the show that she would be performing her folk and country inspired song “Daddy Issues” from the Lemonade album. She was joined on stage by country trio the Dixie Chicks for the show-stealing performance. It was assumed going into the show that country music purist would frown upon Bey performing at the show. But it seemed like everyone in the crowd enjoyed it, except for Kenny Chesney. Joey Feek Dies; Country Singer Was 40 Years Old

Joey Feek, the country and gospel singer whose brave battle with cancer made headlines over the past several months, died on Friday while surrounded by friends and family members. She was 40 years old. Husband Rory Feek, who comprised one half of music duo with his wife and who chronicled her journey on his blog, confirmed the news via a post titled “A Dream Come True.” “My wife’s greatest dream came true today.  She is in Heaven,” Rory wrote. Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in May 2014, just four months after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana. “The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry,” Rory wrote this afternoon. “Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior. At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last.” Rory spent the final few weeks of his wife’s life keeping fans apprised of her progress, often sharing photos of Joey and their daughter. He had told blog followers earlier in the week that he didn’t think Joey had much time left. “A few more days,” he wrote at the time of how long he presumed Joey would still be with us, adding: “In the 40 short years that Joey has lived, my bride has accomplished many great things… she’s lived a very full life.   “But even more than that, she has loved those around her greatly and been loved greatly in return. I can honestly say that Joey’s isn’t just a life well-lived, it’s a life well-loved.” Joey and Rory were married in 2002 and their group, Joey + Rory, was nominated for a Grammy earlier this year. “I pray that one morning I just don’t wake up,” she said in her final interview with The Tennessean. “But I don’t fear anything because I’m so close to God and we’ve talked about it so many times. I know he’s close. And I know he loves me. I’m really at peace.” View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2016: Gone, But Not Forgotten

Craig Strickland Found Dead; Country Singer Was 29

Craig Strickland –  the musician best known as the lead singer of country band Backroad Anthem – has been found dead. Strickland went missing  during a hunting trip with life-long friend Chase Morland on December 27. After Morland’s body was found near the capsized boat that he and Strickland had been using to hunt ducks near Ponca City, Oklahoma, officials began to fear the worst. Details are scarce at this time, but early reports indicate that Strickland’s body was eventually found several miles from where the boat was overturned. According to weather data from the area, Strickland and Morland would have found themselves in a severe winter storm with winds of up to 45 miles per hour and windchills as low as 15 degrees. The friends seemed to have some idea of what they were getting into, as Morland posted the following ominous tweet just hours before they departed: “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma.” An Arkansas native, Stickland lived in Fayetteville with his wife, Helen Wisner Strickland, whom he married in 2014. Strickland was a larger than life figure in his hometown, a phenomenon he addressed in the lyrics to “Small Town Fame,” a 2013 single he penned that eventually reached the number 24 spot on the iTunes country chart. Some of the biggest names in country music have already expressed their condolences to the Strickland family on social media. View Slideshow: Celebrities We Lost in 2015

Now that it’s finally summer, it means lots and lots of pictures of hotties in bikinis, like these ones of country singer Jessie James . I’m not a country fan, so I don’t know much about her, but according to Jessie’s Twitter , she’s on her honeymoon right now. So I know I missed the speak now or forever hold your peace part, but I wonder if it’s too late to ask Jessie to be my Twitter girlfriend. Only one way to find out. Wish me luck. Photos: FameFlynet
