Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have very different sounds (country vs. pop); different looks (blonde vs. brunette); and different philosophies on where they stand as celebrities. Cyrus – who most recently came under fire for making a joke about marijuana – has made it clear that she just wants to be a typical teenager whose occupation happens to make her rich and famous. “My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act because I’m still figuring that out myself,” Miley told Harper’s Bazaar a few months ago. “To take that away from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not.” Swift, conversely, is happy to embrace her status as a role model . She understands it comes with the territory. At the Billboard Women of the Year Awards on Friday, Taylor referenced Faith Hill in an interview with Katie Couric, saying: “For me, when Faith Hill performed on an awards show, everything mattered… everything she said said, did, wore I tried to copy it. That’s what little girls do, so there is a big responsibility and I take it very seriously.” Two artists. Two contrasting points of view. On whose side do you feel? Martina Hingis, the former top-ranked tennis player in the world who won five Grand Slam singles titles, is now playing doubles … with Thibault Hutin! For life! Hingis married the French show jumper on Friday in a private civil ceremony in Paris, according to Swiss newspaper Sonntags Blick . She couldn’t be happier. “Our wedding may take some by surprise,” the paper quotes the bride as saying of the couple’s ceremony , “but it has all been planned for some time.” Congratulations to the newlyweds! When Nicole Richie married Joel Madden on Saturday, the author, reality star and fashion designer was determined to keep the event private. She succeeded. More details have emerged in the aftermath of the blissful affair, however. For one, Richie donned not one, not two, but three different looks this weekend. Richie wore one gown during the ceremony, officiated by rapper-minister Rev. Run. For the dinner, she kept the same top and switched to a different dress. For Mr. and Mrs. Madden, it was a night they’ll always remember . For the after-dinner party, she changed into another Marchesa frock. The same celebrity fashion designer was behind all three of the bride’s gorgeous looks. As for the cuisine, Madden, Richie and their 150 guests (including Khloe Kardashian, Gwen Stefani and Samantha Ronson) enjoyed a winter-themed feast. The gourmet meal included red greens salad, homemade butternut squash ravioli, an entree choice of filet mignon or seared ahi tuna and a dessert buffet.
