Florida Crazies: Man Popped By One-Time After Yelling Racial Slurs And Punching Woman At McDonald’s Drive-Thru

Was it that serious though? Man Arrested For Punching Woman At Drive-Thru Phuck yo drive thru! According to Raw Story: A 68-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with simple battery after being caught on video apparently accosting and hitting a woman at a fast-food drive-thru, ABC News reported on Monday. The encounter between Howard Carl Wilson and Brittani Thomas reportedly began when the vehicle in which she was riding pulled ahead of Wilson’s van while they were in line at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Winter Haven. The footage, shot by a witness in line behind them, begins after Thomas opened the passenger door to speak to him. Wilson can be seen preventing her from closing the door. United Press International reported that witnesses heard Wilson cursing and yelling racial slurs before approaching the other vehicle. The ensuing argument allegedly lasted around two minutes, until Wilson apparently punches Thomas. He then walks away from her vehicle. When police later visited Wilson at his home to ask about the incident, he allegedly told officers that he was “at the passenger door of the vehicle for no more than 15 seconds.” However, he changed his story after being shown the footage, admitting to being the person identified in the video and saying, “It was like a road rage incident.” Check out the video below. Dude must have been having a helluva bad day. Somebody needs prayer and an anger management class.

**UPDATE** Adult Male Body Found Near Search Location For Missing 8-Year-Old Relisha Rudd [Video]

We hope authorities find her! Adult Male Body Found Near Search Location According to WJLA: At a press conference held Monday evening at approximately 6:20 p.m., D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier thanked volunteers who have helped in the search for Relisha Rudd. She stated that the adult male body found has tentatively been identified as Khalil Tatum – as it is “consistent with his appearance.” Lanier also added that she was “pretty comfortable” in concluding that the death was a suicide. But Rudd remains missing. “We are still here for the reason we came here to begin with – to look for Relisha,” Lanier said. “The discovery was a shock for us.” Earlier Monday, it was confirmed that the body of an adult male was found in Kenilworth Park and aquatic gardens in the “target area” of where authorities and volunteers have been searching for missing 8-year-old girl Relisha Rudd on Monday. “Looked like the officers were running back and forth and running in and out of the woods,” said nearby resident, James Johnson, of the flurry of activity at the park. On Monday, it was a search by foot that led to this most recent discovery. And now, residents and family members are fearful of the whereabouts of Relisha Rudd. If Tatum was dead, they ask, where is she?

NASA Curiosity Rover Lands Safely on Mars

We now pause from reporting on Ryan Lochte’s abs and Michael Phelps’ girlfriend Megan Rossee to bring you some important news that should make any American proud: Curiosity, NASA’s long-touted plutonium-powered rover, made a picture perfect landing on Mars today and etched its name in space exploration history. Earlier Monday, the agency released a photograph taken by its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter showing the rover still encased in the descent capsule. Shortly after, it touched down on the planet’s surface. During the early hours of the morning, the rover, about the size of a small car, was lowered at the end of 25-foot-long cables into a Martian crater. Over the years, NASA’s orbiter taken about 120 photographs of the crater in preparation for the rover, with left Earth more than eight months ago. “But I really think this is the coolest one,” Sarah Milkovich, a NASA scientist who works with the orbiter camera, said during a news conference. “What’s amazing about it is the miracle of this engineering ,” said John P. Grotzinger, the scientist who spearheaded the groundbreaking project. The rover ushers in a new era of exploration that could turn up evidence that Mars once boasted the ingredients for life – or might even still. NASA and administration officials were also quick to laud the mission amid criticism that the agency has become a bureaucracy long past its prime. “If anybody has been harboring doubts about the status of U.S. leadership in space,“ John P. Holdren, the president’s science adviser, said. “There’s a one-ton, automobile-size piece of American ingenuity, and it’s sitting on the surface of Mars right now.” One can only imagine what wonders it will discover on the red planet. U-S-A! U-S-A!

Cate Edwards to Testify at Father’s Trial

John Edwards’ daughter, Cate Edwards, is expected to testify Tuesday in the former U.S. senator and presidential candidate’s ongoing corruption trial. Cate Edwards would be the first family member to do so. The indicted politician’s daughter, 30, broke down in tears and had to leave the courtroom earlier this month amid revelations of Edwards’ misdeeds. Her mother, Elizabeth, passed away in December 2010. The defense began laying out its case Monday, shifting the focus from Edwards’ affair with Rielle Hunter to the specifics of campaign finance law. Judge Catherine Eagles threw out most of the proposed testimony from former Federal Election Commission Chairman Scott Thomas after prosecutors objected, arguing his opinions and past FEC rulings are irrelevant to the case. Eagles sent the jury home as Thomas previewed his testimony, saying the use of nearly $1 million to cover up Edwards’ affair with Hunter wasn’t illegal. Thomas said in his opinion, “This is a clear-cut case that the payments were not campaign contributions,” and thus, did not have to be reported as such. Even before Edwards was indicted last June, Thomas wrote in a letter that the “payments would not be considered to be … campaign contributions.” The “payments did not constitute a violation of the law,” he said. But the judge ruled that information would be inadmissible. Edwards attorney, Abbe Lowe, protested, telling her he thought her decision might constitute a “reversible error” that potentially could be overturned on appeal. Eagles retorted, “That sounds like you are arguing with me.” Earlier Monday, the jury did hear from Lora Haggard, the chief finance officer for Edwards’ 2008 campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. From the stand, she said she never thought the money from wealthy donors Bunny Mellon and Fred Baron ever had to be reported to the FEC. She said of the money that has him facing jail time, “They were not contributions to the campaign to urge the public to vote for Mr. Edwards.” Prosecutors say it absolutely was, as Elizabeth knew he was having an affair with Rielle Hunter and the funds were to conceal the affair from the public, thus protecting his image in the midst of a serious White House run. It’s still unclear whether Edwards himself will testify, but Cate has been by his side daily, and she could take the stand as early as today.

Nirvana Had ‘No Regrets’ About Nevermind

Our Nevermind You Never Knew 20th-anniversary coverage continues with part two of a three-part look back at Nirvana in their own words. By James Montgomery Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain in 1993 Photo: MTV News ” Nevermind was definitely an album we wanted to make. … We have no regrets, other than maybe the production was too slick.” That was Kurt Cobain in December 1993, after the initial impact of Nirvana ‘s sophomore album had subsided, and the band was trying to slip effortlessly into the promotional cycle for its follow-up, In Utero. Of course, it went about as well as you would expect. Such is often the case when a band attempts to move on from the shadow of a monolithic, moment-seizing record: It’s difficult to talk about anything else. When it was released, no one had any idea of what Nevermind would eventually become. In fact, in the Geffen offices, they were hoping it’d sell maybe 250,000 copies, and as such, shortages in record stores were common in the months following its release. But, as you’re probably aware by now, the album far exceeded initial expectations (it’s since sold more than 30 million copies worldwide,) and, in the 20 years since its release, Nevermind has gone on to become an album that not only lends itself to being mythologized, but deserves it as well. And yet, the album didn’t become a household name overnight. It slowly (almost methodically) ascended the charts, finally overtaking Michael Jackson’s Dangerous atop the Billboard albums chart in January 1992. And when it did, it signified not only the changing of the guard, but a new era for music. It was a rare moment: A good band was also the most popular. And 20 years later, we’re still marveling at that fact. But, again, Nevermind lends itself to mythology. And with its 20th anniversary just around the corner, we suspect you’ll be subject to no shortage of it. So rather than add another anecdote (or 10) to the pile, we figured it would be best to tell the story of Nirvana in the words of the people who knew it best: the band itself. We’ve spent the past few weeks mining the MTV News archives to find our definitive Nirvana moments — not just the iconic interviews, but the behind-the-scenes nuggets that show the band as they truly were: funny, irreverent and just a little uncomfortable with their newfound fame (a fact they’d go to great lengths to prove with In Utero ). Earlier Monday (September 19), we published Nirvana’s take on their early years , and now, we’re going to give you their view on everything that happened in the year following the release of Nevermind . Here, now, is a band at the epicenter of a true revolution, trying to make sense of everything that happens while, at the same time, attempting to remain true to the scene that birthed them. That struggle is just one of many reasons why, 20 years after they burst into the world, Nirvana remains one of the most fascinating rock bands of all time. Stick with MTV News all week as we reveal the Nevermind You Never Knew , celebrating the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s definitive album with classic footage, new interviews and much more.
