Jennifer Lopez Votes To Save DeAndre Brackensick On ‘Idol’

But other judges opt to boot springy-haired singer, who was joined by Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone in the bottom three. By Adam Graham DeAndre Brackensick on “American Idol” Photo: Fox DeAndre Brackensick sang “I Like It” on Wednesday’s ’80s-themed episode of “American Idol,” but America didn’t like it and sent the springy-haired singer packing on Thursday’s (April 5) elimination episode. The 17-year-old from San Jose, California, came the closest so far this season to being a recipient of a judges’ save, after performing Stevie Wonder’s “Master Blaster” following the news he received the lowest number of America’s votes. “This boy right here, we’ve been watching him for two years. You’re an amazing performer, and I stand by that,” Jennifer Lopez told him. “I think you have an amazing voice, and you’re gonna share a lot with the world, I really do believe that. [But] I only get one vote. I’m sorry, we’re not saving you tonight. I’m sorry, baby.” Host Ryan Seacrest asked Lopez if that meant she voted to save him and the other two judges didn’t. “Yes, that’s what I’m saying,” she said. Brackensick wound up in the doghouse despite receiving positive remarks from the judges Wednesday. Lopez called his performance “natural” and Steven Tyler called it “amazing,” while Randy Jackson told him, “It was one of my best performances from you.” Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine, however, had a different take. “DeAndre was not great!” he barked. “DeAndre needs to come out and grow at a much faster pace. If you look at the boys, Joshua [Ledet] is growing in leaps and bounds, and DeAndre is growing marginally.” Iovine called him the “weakest of the boys” on Wednesday. Iovine had harsh words for several of the contestants Thursday; he said Hollie Cavanagh “is approaching this like a high school performer, and last night wasn’t even a great high school performance,” while he said Elise Testone delivered “an old-fashioned choke.” (It goes without saying that Iovine has become by far the most interesting, honest judge on the show, even though he’s technically not even a judge. Can someone go ahead and change that, please?) It was Cavanagh and Testone, in fact, who joined Brackensick in the week’s bottom three. Brackensick was the first contestant sent to those lonely chairs, followed by Cavanagh and then Testone. Cavanagh was sent back to safety first, leaving Brackensick and Testone to sweat it out. Also on the show, the Wanted performed their hit “Glad You Came” and Kellie Pickler ran through her new single “Where’s Tammy Wynette,” while Jennifer Lopez debuted her “Dance Again” video . Elise Testone Wants To Know What Love Is

Following Elise Testone singing a version of Foreigner’s “I Wanna Know What Love Is” on American Idol last night, Jennifer Lopez told the finalist that she really likes her outfit. In other words: Uh-oh. Elise could be in trouble. No panelist exactly swooned over the performance, with Steven Tyler wondering if it was the proper song choice and Randy Jackson saying there were pitch problems. American Idol Results: Who is Going on Tour?

American Idol eliminated two contestants this week, first sending Jermaine Jones home last night for lying about his criminal record and then giving another finalist the axe tonight for… well, being worse than the other 10 singers. So, who will NOT be going on tour this summer? Following performances by Daughtry and Demi Lovato (below), the final three came down to Shannon Magrane, Erika Van Pelt and Elise Testone, with the fewest number of votes going to… Shannon Magrane. The 16-year-old went with Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day” in an attempt to earn the judges’ save, but Randy Jackson told her it was not meant to be: “Unfortunately, we’re not going to use it tonight, Shannon. Thank you.” What did you think of these results? Did Shannon deserve to go home?

Future Returns To Atlanta For ‘Same Damn Time’ Video

It’s ‘more like a movie,’ Future tells MTV News of his new video while on set. By Sowmya Krishnamurthy, with reporting by FLX Future Photo: Getty Images For his upcoming “Same Damn Time” video, Future returned to Atlanta to capture “ordinary life, everyday life” in his hometown. When MTV News caught up with him on set recently, the rapper shared that the hood-inspired visuals, helmed by director Dr. Teeth, will be “more like a movie.” DJ Drama, who was also on-hand for the shoot, shared his enthusiasm for the song. “It’s crazy in the streets, it’s crazy in the club,” he told MTV News. “Future seems to be kind of flawless right now.” As far as Future’s concerned, “It’s astronaut status,” a reference to his mixtape of the same name, released earlier this year. Future’s buzz on and off the streets has been growing since his catchy hit “Tony Montana.” The gangster-themed and irresistibly repetitive song was so popular that Beyonc

Jeremy Rosado Sent Home On ‘American Idol’

As the bottom two contestants, the wild-card pick squares off against Elise Testone. By James Dinh Jeremy Rosado on “American Idol” Photo: FOX Capping a week of tunes from music greats Stevie Wonder and the late Whitney Houston , Jeremy Rosado was sent packing during the “American Idol” results show Thursday night (March 8), marking the first Top 13 farewell. Before the elimination was announced, the episode kicked things off on a lighter note as host Ryan Seacrest welcomed the contestants to perform Wonder’s 1977 hit “As.” And after all the introductions, usual Ford product placement and recapping, it was time to get down to business. First up on the chopping block were the female contestants, who were eventually narrowed down to the bottom three: Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt and Shannon Magrane. The trio of male contestants included Jermaine Jones, Jeremy Rosado and Joshua Ledet. Seacrest’s “after the commercial break” intensity ended with Rosado and Testone as the finalists with the lowest votes after Wednesday night’s episode. Leaving the deliberation up to judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, it was Rosado (originally a wild-card choice) who was announced as this week’s eliminated contestant. Asked what he would miss about “Idol,” Rosado simply told Seacrest, “Just the whole experience.” “This was awesome. … Thank you guys for everything,” he said. As a special guest mentor on this week’s episode, Mary J. Blige also took to the “Idol” stage to perform her new single “Why.” Additionally, “Idol” welcomed back season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina, who offered some Southern charm with a performance of her single “Georgia Peaches.” What did you think of Jeremy’s elimination? Jen Hirsh vs. Elise Testone: Who is the One and Only?

For their first live auditions of season 11, both Jen Hirsh and Elise Testone covered the same Adele song last night. That has to be an American Idol first, right? Even more incredibly? The track was NOT “Rolling in the Deep!” Instead, each of these hopefuls delivered a version of “One and Only,” with Randy complimenting Jen for her R&B “swag” and then J. Lo taking it a step further for Elise, who sat at a piano for her performance. “You may be the best singer here,” Lopez told Testone. Listen to both now, compare them to other contestants such as Shannon Magrane and then vote on your favorite cover: Jen Hirsh – One and Only Elise Testone – One and Only Whose version of Adele did you prefer?
