Ember Jean Roloff has achieved a milestone. It's a simple one and, technically, it's not one over which she had much control. But it's a major one nonetheless: The only child of Audrey and Jeremy Roloff is now a year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In celebration, most Little People, Big World cast members came together on Sunday, September 9 to pay tribute to the precious infant and to watch her smash some cake all over her face. It’s been a couple days chock full of excitement for Ember Jean Roloff. The latest Little People, Big World cast member has been treated to a pair of exciting first by her brand, each of which is sort of opposite from the other. Meaning what, exactly? Well, to begin with, Audrey and Jeremy took their precious bundle of joy to the beach, something that can do in December while residing in the Pacific Northwest. As you can see above, Ember was all snug and cozy in her mom’s arms, as Audrey wrote the following caption to the cute snapshot: “Ember’s first trip to the beach. The Oregon coast decided to really showing off #gooniesneverdie #beating50percent #weekendidos.” This wasn’t the only family outing for Ember, however. She also got to hang out with her aunt, uncle and cousin, doing something that contrasts greatly from spending time on the beach: She went Christmas tree shopping! “Starting new traditions now that we’re a family of three,” Audrey wrote as a caption to this second photo. She added: “Taking our little adventurers out Christmas tree picking. What are some of your favorite family traditions?! #journeyofjerandauj #weekendidos.” For anyone that has followed Little People, Big World since its premiere on TLC, this second photo actually is very moving. Tori and Zach welcomed son Jackson into their universe in May, about five months before Audrey and Jeremy became first-time parents. Both couple have come so very far since we first met them, so you’ll forgive us if we get a bit teary-eyed looking at this expanded family portrait. It just makes us yearn for new episodes of the enjoyable reality show, which some fans fear is on the verge of cancelation . ADORABLE COUSINS ALERT! We strongly doubt this is the case, however. Yes, it’s a bit odd that no return date has been announced. But we know cameras were filming Molly Roloff’s wedding this August and no cast member has hinted that the program is in jeopardy. We mean…it can’t go away now! There are so many new stories to be told about Jacob making up with his relatives, Jackson growing into a toddler, Audrey and Jeremy adjusting to parenthood and so much more! We’ll be sure to keep fans apprised of the show’s status, but we caution viewers not to panic. Of all of Michael Jackson’s children, Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson tends to keep the lowest profile. Of course, that’s due in large part to his age. Blanket is only 15 and still in high school, which means that while his older siblings are embarking on careers in the media, the youngest Jackson attending high school classes. Obviously, as a result of being the son of one of the most famous musicians of all-time, Blanket’s childhood has been far from typical. But it’s not just the boy’s wealth and fame that set him apart from his peers. For one thing, Blanket’s life has been marred by tragedy and instability almost from the very beginning. Following his father’s death, Blanket’s family situation was thrown into complete disarray, with various relatives sharing guardianship duties. Until recently, Katherine Jackson was Blanket’s primary legal guardian . However, due to her advanced age and hectic travel schedule (Katherine is 87 and spends much of the year in London), she was often forced to hand off duties to other relatives. The family generally does a pretty good job of shielding press-shy Blanket from publicity, but this week, several media outlets reported that Katherine has surrendered her guardianship duties. According to E! News, Katherine has essentially retired from caring for Blanket , fearing that she’s no longer up to the task. Other adults in the family co-signed, explaining to the court that Katherine is “no longer needed to fulfill the duties.” News of the legal developments sparked fears for Blanket’s safety amongst fans. Even when Katherine was the primary legal guardian, childcare duties were often divided amongst several relatives, with Blanket’s Aunt Rebbie and Uncle T.J. assuming the bulk of the responsibilities. Unfortunately, there were gaps in the division of labor, and sources say Blanket often spent the night alone or was unable to get to school in the morning due to scheduling confusion. With Katherine removing herself from the situation, there were concerns that Blanket would be on his own even more than usual. Fortunately, it seems his older relatives have been able to reach an agreement, and E! is now reporting that at Katherine’s request, T.J. will take over as Blanket’s primary caretaker. “[Katherine] feels that TJ is able to assume all necessary responsibilities of the guardianship,” one court document reads. Obviously, at 15, Blanket is probably able to care for himself for the most part. But fans on social media are still expressing their gratitude that the boy may be able to experience a modicum of stability during the last few years of his childhood. We’re sure that’s exactly what his father would want.
Jeremy Roloff is a changed man. He’s only been a father for a handful of weeks, but the Little People, Big World star says he can tell something is different. And that something is centered around his faith. Earlier this week, the new father of a precious baby named Ember Jean shared the above photo on Instagram and included with it the caption below: Yesterday I had a dying to self moment. The realization that my life is not about me. This baby is a part of the continual dying-to-self process that is nescessary to pursue holiness over happiness. That’s profound stuff. Typically, Jeremy leaves this kind of religious talk to his wife, as Audrey Roloff has been known to often gush over Jesus Christ and His teachings. But having Ember has clearly brought something out in Jeremy. If you pursue happiness over holiness, you may lose both , he continued, adding: But if we pursue holiness, happiness may get thrown in. There is a selfishness deep down that I’m ashamed to say, almost resented the freedom and time that I am about to lose. However, as it’s been said, nothing can truly be yours until you’ve fully given it away. After an admittedly challenging opening few weeks as parents, Audrey and Jeremy have been sharing more and more pictures of their daughter, while also taking her on mini road trips. Or stroller trips , we guess we should say. In concluding his latest post regarding Ember and what he’s come to believe/realize, Jeremy wrote: Jesus said it best, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” I want to live for the truth of holiness, not the facade of happiness. I want to find my life and find it in the fullness and freedom of Christ. Amen, right? Whether or not you believe with absolutely everything Jeremy writes here or believes in general, his sentiment is that being a father has made him more selfless. Audrey Roloff has given Little People, Big World some fun insight into her daughter. First, the beloved TLC star shared a new photo of her baby girl. And, what can we say, it’s downright adorable… Second, Roloff has written something interesting about Ember Jean, who is just over six weeks old. Following a general status update on Ember upon the occasion of her one-month birthday, Audrey is now here to tell us what song her child likes to hear most often. Along with what change Audrey has made to the lyrics. “I sure do spend a lot of time in bed, but never actually sleeping of course,” Audrey wrote as a caption to the photo above. And it’s true: She and Jeremy Roloff have mentioned on multiple occasions that Ember isn’t exactly a great sleeper. Not yet, at least. But Audrey wasn’t trying to criticize her child with this post. Quite the opposite, really. “How could you not want to just cuddle in bed all day with a face like that?!” she continued, adding: “Ember likes it when I sing to her – and she’s probably the only person on the planet that does – but for some reason I can never think of any other songs to sing except amazing grace!” That is a classic. And it’s appropriate for someone as dedicated to her faith as Audrey Roloff. Added the mother of one: “They other day I was singing it to her on repeat and I suddenly had an urge to replace the “me’s” with “you’s.” “This verse became particularly encouraging as I sang it over her instead of myself, “The Lord has promised good to YOU His word YOUR hope secures; He will YOUR sheild and portion be… “As long as life endures, Yet when YOUR flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, YOU shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.” It’s been so nice to see Audrey open up a lot more of late when it comes to Ember. For a little while there, the reality star admitted that the adjustment to parenthood was a struggle, but she’s been sharing more and more photos recently of her bundle of joy. And Ember has even gotten out of the house to enjoy some special trips . We’re grateful to Audrey and Jeremy for opening up their lives in this kind of manner to their fans and we continue to wish their family health and happiness. As new parents, Audrey and Jeremy Roloff don’t have the kind of free time that they used to. Having a newborn consumes your entire life, but they’re getting by. Thankfully, they’re not too busy to bring us little updates on social media. And by “updates,” we of coure mean photos. New photos of the new parents and their precious Ember Jean. While nothing is going to top seeing Ember Jean and Jackson Roloff hold hands , we’ve accepted that. They’re both babies and they’re cousins and the preciousness of the two of them combines is overpowering. But these new photos are also touching. In addition to a couple of pics that we’d seen before, Audrey Roloff shared some new pictures of herself, Ember Jean, and Jeremy Roloff. Though, as Audrey makes certain to clarify in the captions, the pictures are only “new” to the rest of the world. As they were taken when Ember Jean was only one week old. Audrey captioned the series of photos: “So much LOVE!!! God blessed me beyond measure with these two.” Of course, her devout Christian faith is a huge and integral part of Audrey’s brand, so that’s exactly how anyone familiar with Audrey would expect for her to frame her happiness. “I just love them both more and more each day.” Cute! “Our girl @dawn_photo took these precious photos for us when Ember was only a week old!” That was, you guessed it, four weeks ago. “How can she already be 5 weeks?! Ah!” Weird to think that it was only 5 weeks ago when Ember Jean Roloff was born . Time flies! Audrey finishes up her caption by promising that there is more to come: “More photos of Ember’s nursery coming to the blog this week! aujpoj.com. #journeyofjerandauj #emberjean” We’ll be excited to see those! Every nursery set-up is a little different. It’s only been a little over two weeks since we first saw Ember Jean’s face . Or since we first saw it closely, anyway. But now we just can’t get enough of her cute little self. We can’t wait to watch her develop a personality of her own and grow up as the first Roloff granddaughter. Oh, and here’s a photo of this little cutie in a classic photo pose for fathers and newborn babies. Precious beyond words! You know, as much as we love the name “Ember,” something occurred to us just the other day. Is Ember going to hear the singsong phrase “liar liar, pants on fire” at some point her life and have a sudden epiphany? Because “Ember Jean” is, well, a name that could be translated to mean “fire pants.” If you had a character in a short story who lies a lot, an editor would tell you that you shouldn’t name them “Ember Jean.” We know that Audrey and Jeremy have been agonizing over how to raise their baby as she gets older, so we imagine that they’ll come up with some ways to prepare her for some name-based teasing. (Kids can be cruel, even if they don’t mean anything cruel by it, you know?)
