World Dims on Earth Hour

Even the most dazzling casino lights that envelope the metropolis of Las Vegas has dimmed as they participated in the Earth Hour. Cities in 92 countries observed this annual event to show support for taking action on climate change. This event began in Sydney Asutralia in 2007 by a non-profit environmental group WWF Countries and regions who participated for the first time includes the world’s newest country Kosovo, the remote island nation of Madagascar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Paraguay, Ecuador and the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Marina Islands in the Pacific Ocean. “Earth Hour demonstrates the determination of the world’s citizens for a better, healthier world,” said Earth Hour Executive Director, Andy Ridley. “It brings together cities, communities, businesses and individuals on the journey to positive action on climate change.” World Dims on Earth Hour is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading →

The FOX network’s most successful series to date was a spin-off from The Tracey Ullman Show. Originally appearing on that series as a 1 minute filler, the executive producers of that series, James L. Brooks and Sam Simon decided that these characters could support a half hour series. So they did it and started the longest running animated series in primetime network television. Part of this family’s broad appeal has allowed them to make endorsements, such as the numerous commercials they’ve appeared in for Butterfinger candy bars. Following is the synopsis of the latest episode entitled: Stealing First Base Principal Skinner announces that Mrs. Krabappel was called out of town and budget cuts dictate that, until she returns, the school’s two fourth grade classes will merge. Bart reluctantly shares a desk with Nikki and develops a flirtatious rapport. Bart talks to Grampa about his new crush, and at Grampa’s suggestion, gives Nikki a kiss. But when Nikki starts sending Bart mixed signals, he swears off women forever. Meanwhile, Lisa’s classmates ostracize her for being an overachiever, and First Lady Michelle Obama, a self-professed nerd, comes to Lisa’s defense. The in-depth Vanity Fair profile of the infamous owner of Blackwater, Erik Prince, is remarkable on many levels–not least among them that Prince appeared to give the story's author, former CIA lawyer Adam Ciralsky, unprecedented access to information about sensitive, classified and lethal operations not only of Prince's forces, but Prince himself. In the article, Prince is revealed not just as owner of a company that covertly provided contractors to the CIA for drone bombings and targeted assassinations, but as an actual CIA asset himself. While the story appears to be simply a profile of Prince, it might actually be the world's most famous mercenary's insurance policy against future criminal prosecution
