‘The Color Purple’ Actress Sues Show After Being Fired For Old Homophobic Post

View post:

Source: Mondadori Portfolio / Getty Actress Oluwaseyi “Seyi” Omooba was cut from the U.K. production of The Color Purple because of past homophobic comments and now she’s clapping back with a lawsuit. According to Pink News , Omooba was supposed to play the lead role of Celie who, ironically, has a queer relationship in the story. Yet, Omooba still chose to be homophobic, building off a 2014 Facebook post where she cited religion for her beliefs. Hamilton star Aaron Lee Lambert pulled up the old post, which partly read: “I do not believe you can be born gay, and I do not believe homosexuality is right, though the laws of this land has made it legal doesn’t mean its [sic] right. I do believe that everyone sins and falls into temptation but its [sic] by the asking of forgiveness, repentance and the grace of God that we overcome and live how God ordained us too [sic].” In his tweet of the post, Lambert asked Omooba, “Do you still stand by this post? Or are you happy to remain a hypocrite? Seeing as you’ve now been announced to be playing an LGBTQ character, I think you owe your LGBTQ peers an explanation. Immediately.” Omooba was advised by Leicester’s Curve Theatre and her agency, Michael Garrett Associates, to retract her post and to apologize. However, she refused to do this, citing her Christian faith as an excuse. “ I really wanted the role but what they wanted me to do was completely against my faith. I did not want to lie just to keep a job,”  she told  The Daily Mail. “I just quoted what the Bible says about homosexuality, the need for repentance, but ultimately God’s love for all humanity.” Omooba insisted that she’s not homophobic. “I stand by what I wrote, but had I known that it would have come to this, I would have set my account to the privacy mode.” Riiiight. Like that would’ve helped. Since her statements were brought to light, she was let go from The Color Purple production, and she was dropped by her agents. Omooba says when she tried to reach out to agents who were once eager to sign her, only one responded, acknowledging that she was ‘talented but misguided’ and brainwashed by her religion. “I’m heartbroken,” Omooba said. “If I’m unable to get back to the stage, then I feel there is no point. It’s the only thing I have ever wanted since I was a young girl.” Omooba has now filed a lawsuit against Michael Garrett Associates for religious discrimination. The group hasn’t commented on Omooba’s lawsuit, but the Curve Theatre told The Daily Mail , “The comments made by Seyi have caused significant and widely expressed concerns both on social media and in the wider press. Following careful reflection, it has been decided Seyi will no longer be involved with the production.” Guess we’ll have to wait and find out if Omooba will have any weight in court. Until then, she might want to just get started on that church production of A Color Purple . Surely, it’ll be an entirely different musical with some of the most important themes lost.

That Escalated FAST: Malik Yoba Curses Out Interviewer For Pressing Trans Teen Rape Allegation Questions — “F*** YOU!”

Source: Jim Spellman / Getty Malik Yoba Storms Out On Interview Regarding His “Love” For The Trans Community Actor Malik Yoba wants to advocate for trans women but if you press on about allegations made against him by a former trans teen sex worker, he’ll say “F-CK YOU!”. In an interview with The Root , Yoba completely melted down when he was asked for a second time about Mariah Lopez Ebony , a trans woman who alleges she was paid to perform sex acts on the adult actor starting when she was just 13-years-old. Ebony originally made the claims in a Facebook post and has not wavered on her story, despite Yoba claiming not to know what she’s talking about. In the interview clip, Malik completely loses his cool after stating he didn’t know Lopez Ebony, period. It seems like the interview questions were rehearsed beforehand and when the interviewer went in with the question for the second time, the actor lost his marbles. “We said that we were going to focus on policy and you staying on allegations. I don’t appreciate this sh-t at all homie. This is not what we f*cking discussed. We sat for four f*cking hours. WE SAT FOR FOUR F*CKING HOURS. F*CK YOU! This is my f*cking life.” Peep the whole video here .

Jana Duggar Caught Up In Bizarre Photoshop Scandal

The Duggars have very strong views on the style of clothing that women should be permitted to wear below the waist. And what does that have to do with this photo of Jana Duggar at the Tontitown Grape Festival? Well, possibly nothing. But if there’s any truth to the latest Duggar conspiracy theory, then this family is even more bonkers than we though. Which is really saying something, because we already thought they were pretty damn crazy. The Duggars obviously consider this to be a family-friendly event, which probably means it’s the only grape-related event in the world where you can’t get a decent glass of wine. Anyway, take a look at the women standing behind Jana and see if you notice anything unusual. Well, if you’re anything like the folks in Jana’s comments, you might be led to believe those women have had skirts awkwardly photoshopped onto their bodies after someone decided they were dressed “immodestly.” The Duggar dress code is a strict one, so the women might have been wearing unusually short shorts — or they may have just been wearing shorts of a perfectly average cut and style. The pic was first brought to our attention in a Facebook group dedicated to discussion of all things Duggar . “The Duggars are disgusting,” wrote the user who posted (we think it’s safe to say she’s not a fan). “They minimized and excused sexual assault and called it just the actions of a curious ‘child,'” she added, clearly referring to the J osh Duggar sex scandals . “Apparently shorts on women are so horrible they felt the need to Photoshop skirts on two random women in the background of a picture of ‘precious’ Jana.” On Instagram, many of Jana’s followers echoed the sentiment: “Wow… altered this photo to make the girls behind you have modest clothing on…” wrote one fan. “Noticed that too, it’s amazing how the standard for girls is ridiculously high while ‘boys will just be boys,'” another replied. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking such drastic steps to ensure the modesty of a freakin’ county fair photo. But if you look closely, it really does appear that something is amiss with those skirts. Like so many Duggar mini-scandals , the situation raises a whole slew of questions. For starters, who did the retouching? The pic appeared on Jana’s page — does that mean she’s responsible? Also, wouldn’t it have been easier to just crop those women out of the pic completely? And most importantly, how did no one notice the hero flipping the bird over Jana’s shoulder?! ASMR on Youtube is Jerk Off Porn of the Day

I’ve been calling out youtube for the last 10-15 years for being a porn site. A public traded porn site. There is no surprise that there is no doubt that people are jacking off to smutty videos on the platform at any given minute or second in the day. It’s just one of those “hard to regulate” places and weird subgroups pop up on certain content, because ultimately as humans, everything comes down to one basic emotion and human bodily function…cumming. We are perverts of the internet, we get it….but why doesn’t Google or Facebook or Reddit or TUMBLR take ownership of that? Why do we live in a society where their porn pervert traffic brings them tons of pages to run ads on, views to monetize, but it is hidden….like a dirty little secret. What happened to owning who you are and being sex positive in the process… That said, I have been aware of ASMR before it went viral and I always got creeped out by it, even though it works, I get the chills down my back, but it makes me want to punch a motherfucker not sleep… Now that it is viral, it is everywhere, a meme, and since I know it as a weird fetish from a few years ago that was not marketed as a fetish, I knew there would be some pervert shit on YOUTUBEE…I just never bothered looking… But I was sent in this video this weekend and I thought it was pretty fucking hilarious that YOUTUBE runs ads on a girl telling you to eat your own cum…you perverts… Publicly traded SMUT… The post ASMR on Youtube is Jerk Off Porn of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Jenelle Evans: Depressed Because Her Businesses Keep Failing?

It's tough to sympathize with anyone who's been accused of rampant child abuse and countless other violent acts, and who chose to defend the man who murdered her pet dog . But everyone once in a while, Jenelle Evans reminds us that she is, in fact, a human being. Over the weekend, Evans revealed that she suffers from depression and will be stepping away from social media for the time being. Fans were mostly skeptical that she'll actually be able to take a break from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but others were more interested in speculating as to the cause of Jenelle's seemingly self-diagnosed “depression.” And many came to the conclusion that Jenelle is just pissed off her post-Teen Mom businesses keep failing, which means she might eventually be forced to get a job. Take a look: 1. The New Face of Unemployment It’s been three months since Jenelle was fired from Teen Mom 2, and it seems she has no intention of getting a “real job.” 2. The Good Life There was a time when Jenelle and David were both raking in six-figure incomes for their “work” on the show. No doubt those days of plenty seem like a distant memory now. 3. The First to Go David was the first to get axed from the popular series when he unleashed a torrent of bigoted abuse on social media after fans urged him to show some compassion in the wake of the Parkland school shooting. 4. Messing Up the Money Jenelle held on considerably longer, but she was let go in May after she defended David’s decision to shoot and kill her 11-pound French bulldog. 5. Justice For Nugget Evans probably could have saved her career if she’d held David responsible for his actions, but instead, she cost herself the job that made her famous. 6. Sponsored Content So now, Jenelle pays the bills by posting “sponsored content,” usually in the form of clickbait tabloid posts about her co-stars. View Slideshow

Oh, HELL NAH: Black Man Finds A KKK Application In The Bedroom Of The Home He Was About To Purchase

Source: SOPA Images / Getty Black Homebuyer Finds A KKK Application In Officer’s Bedroom Rob Mathis was all in and ready to make an offer on a five-bedroom house in Holton, Michigan —that is, until a recent tour of the property. A quick look through the home’s decor didn’t sit well with Mathis and his wife, Reyna. They felt uneasy after finding a NASCAR-decorated garage sporting two Confederate flags, Confederate placemats in the kitchen, and on top of all that—the home also belonged to a police officer. The over-the-top Confederate decor found Mathis wondering to himself, “Wouldn’t it be funny if this was a Klansman’s house?” he revealed in an interview with MLive . Then, he and his son went into a bedroom and saw a framed KKK application mounted on the wall behind a vanity. “Application for citizenship in the invisible empire: Knights of the Klu Klux Klan” the empty application read. Of course, Mathis told his son that they had to leave immediately. Some Confederate flags and a KKK application are reason enough to high tail it out of that house, but unsurprisingly, this isn’t the only incriminating evidence against the police officer whose house Mathis was viewing. Charles Anderson, a 48-year-old white police officer, fatally shot a black man, 23-year-old Julius Johnson, during a traffic stop in 2009. Anderson was cleared of any wrongdoing in Johnson’s death, per the Washington Post . Rob Mathis ended up going public with the frightening information he found throughout Anderson’s home, posting about it to Facebook and talking to local media outlets about the harrowing experience. The City of Muskegon placed the officer on administrative leave on Thursday, “pending a thorough investigation” of the officer. In light of the findings, Eric Hood, president of the Muskegon County chapter of the NAACP, has called for Anderson’s interactions with people of color to be reviewed.

SMH: Police Were Called On A Rap Video Shoot After Fake Guns Were Mistaken For Being Real

Source: Thomas Winz / Getty Police Were Called To A Rap Music Video Because Of Fake Guns Police in Southlake, Texas received a call on August 5th from a resident who claimed to see a group of men taking pictures with what they thought to be real guns. Officers arrived to the scene with their guns drawn and ended up detaining the four men. Soon after arriving, the cops realized that the whole thing was a false alarm. The men were actually shooting a music video and the weapons in question were just airsoft rifles. They also had fake bulletproof vests and bags of sugar that were made to look like drugs. To make matters worse, the house they were filming in front of was actually not the one they were supposed to be at, because they apparently got the address confused. As Fox 35 pointed out, police were on “high alert” following the mass shootings that occurred nearby in El Paso and Dayton. The bodycam footage captured the whole incident, but the faces of the men shooting the music video were blurred out since they didn’t end up being charged or arrested. Right after the whole thing went down, Southlake DPS took to Facebook to address the incident. “They had come to Southlake to film a rap video, but ended up going to the wrong house on the wrong street. No charges were filed and the citizens were released,” they wrote.  “This was a great job of the citizens following officer commands, keeping a cool head, and understanding why we showed up in the first place. Our officers also should be commended for their attention to detail, excellent training, and meticulous investigating.”
