SMH: Police Were Called On A Rap Video Shoot After Fake Guns Were Mistaken For Being Real

Source: Thomas Winz / Getty Police Were Called To A Rap Music Video Because Of Fake Guns Police in Southlake, Texas received a call on August 5th from a resident who claimed to see a group of men taking pictures with what they thought to be real guns. Officers arrived to the scene with their guns drawn and ended up detaining the four men. Soon after arriving, the cops realized that the whole thing was a false alarm. The men were actually shooting a music video and the weapons in question were just airsoft rifles. They also had fake bulletproof vests and bags of sugar that were made to look like drugs. To make matters worse, the house they were filming in front of was actually not the one they were supposed to be at, because they apparently got the address confused. As Fox 35 pointed out, police were on “high alert” following the mass shootings that occurred nearby in El Paso and Dayton. The bodycam footage captured the whole incident, but the faces of the men shooting the music video were blurred out since they didn’t end up being charged or arrested. Right after the whole thing went down, Southlake DPS took to Facebook to address the incident. “They had come to Southlake to film a rap video, but ended up going to the wrong house on the wrong street. No charges were filed and the citizens were released,” they wrote.  “This was a great job of the citizens following officer commands, keeping a cool head, and understanding why we showed up in the first place. Our officers also should be commended for their attention to detail, excellent training, and meticulous investigating.”

No Justice: The Two Police Officers Who Shot & Killed Stephon Clark Will Not Be Charged

Source: Justin Sullivan / Getty There Will Be No Charges In Sacramento Police Shooting Of Stephon Clark Two Sacramento police officers will not face any criminal prosecution after shooting and killing an unarmed black man in his grandmother’s backyard last year, the Sacramento County district attorney announced on Saturday. For almost a year, community members and activists have been demanding some sort of police accountability for the death of 22-year-old Stephon Clark , who was killed last March by Officers Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet. The police had initially been dispatched to investigate a routine vandalism complaint and somehow, within 10 minutes of their arrival, Clark was dead. The shooting rightfully inspired waves of protests in Sacramento while Stephon’s death took on national significance amid the continuing discrimination by police in black neighborhoods and excessive use of force by those same police officers. “Was a crime committed? There’s no question that a human being died,” District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert said on Saturday in Sacramento. “But when we look at the facts and the law, and we follow our ethical responsibilities, the answer to that question is no. And as a result, we will not charge these officers.” According to Schubert, the officers had probable cause to stop and detain Clark. She also added that police officers are legally justified in using deadly force “if the officer honestly and reasonably believes” he is in danger of death or injury. “We must recognize that they are often forced to make split-second decisions,” she continued. “We must also recognize that they are under tense, uncertain and rapidly evolving circumstances.” At the time of the killing, officers fired their weapons a total of 20 times in Stephon Clark’s direction within seconds of him turning a blind corner. “Both officers believed that he was pointing a gun at them,” She said, adding that police video showed Stephon “advancing” on the officers. But Clark was later found to be unarmed with only his cellphone found under his body. An autopsy released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office in May found at least seven bullets had hit Mr. Clark.

F**k 12: Vallejo Cops Killed 21-Year-Old Rapper Willie Bo After Finding Him Asleep At Drive-Thru

Rapper Willie Bo Shot Dead By Vallejo Police 21-year-old rapper Willie “Willie Bo” McCoy was killed last night after Vallejo police officers found him asleep in the drive-thru lane of a local Taco Bell according to the SFChronicle . Officers say McCoy was asleep with a gun on his lap when they approached his silver Mercedes, but as they “assessed the situation” McCoy “suddenly moved”. “The officers told the driver to keep his hands visible, however the driver quickly reached for the handgun on his lap,” police said in a statement. “In fear for their own safety, the officers discharged their weapons at the driver.” A Guardian report on this incident revealed that six officers fired shots within four seconds of each other, the department has not said how many bullets struck Willie. Police say the gun that was recovered from McCoy’s possession was reported stolen in Oregon. The family ain’t hearing none of it and rightfully so. “There was no attempt to try to work out a peaceful solution,” Marc McCoy, Willie McCoy’s older brother, told the Guardian. “The police’s job is to arrest people who are breaking the law — not take the law into your own hands. You’re not judge, jury and executioner. … We’re never going to get over this.” Rest in peace Willie McCoy.

Now Arriving: Gladys West, The Black Woman Who Helped Created GPS, Inducted Into Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame

GPS Inventor Gladys West Inducted Into Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame Gladys West is a “ hidden figure ” just like her sorority sisters Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson who inspired the film by the same name. West was instrumental in creating the navigation systems that we now call GPS (Geographical Positioning System) during her 42 year career working at the naval base in Dahlgren, Virginia. She was a graduate of Virginia State University and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated . Unable to attend the Aug 2018 induction ceremony, Dr. Gladys West was honored at the Pentagon as one of the 2018 Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers for her contributions to the @usairforce space program. Hired in 1956 as a mathematician at the U.S. Naval Weapons Laboratory, she participated in a path-breaking, award-winning astronomical study that proved, during the early 1960s, the regularity of Pluto’s motion relative to Neptune. Thereafter, from the mid-1970s through the 1980s, using complex algorithms to account for variations in gravitational, tidal, and other forces that distort Earth’s shape, she programmed an IBM 7030 “Stretch” computer to deliver increasingly refined calculations for an extremely accurate geodetic Earth model, a geoid, optimized for what ultimately became the Global Positioning System (GPS) orbit. We thank you, Gladys West, for sharing your brilliance with the world and giving us a much needed technological breakthrough that changed the world forever.

Details Of Botham Jean’s Family Lawsuit Against Dallas Are Revealed

T he family of the Black man who was killed by a police officer in his own Dallas apartment last month still has plans to sue the city, according to a new report. Botham Jean ’s family announced their intentions earlier this month to sue Dallas for civil rights violations, but the lawsuit was seemingly in limbo last week after Jean’s mother said some questions she had were being answered by officials. Lawyers representing the family revealed details of the pending lawsuit on Monday, showing exactly what Jean’s parents were hoping to accomplish with it. “Jean’s parents say they want their lawsuit to not just focus on how their son died, but to change how police officers are trained about when to fire their weapons,” the Dallas Morning News reported Monday afternoon. Are police departments really investigating the cops who killed Botham Jean and O'Shae Terry? A pattern emerges… https://t.co/ytvCIdZylc pic.twitter.com/weG5wpTOU9 — NewsOne (@newsone) October 10, 2018 Part of the lawsuit will also focus on what Jean’s family has described as incompetence on the part of law enforcement, including Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson , who reportedly assured the family that the case was progressing. Johnson, who was appointed DA nearly two years ago, was running to be elected to the post next month and has at times  seemed more concerned with her campaign than Jean’s killing. “The Jeans also fault [Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé] Hall for turning over the case to the Rangers and say Dallas police should have kept investigating,” Dallas Morning News also reported. “Hall has said she turned over the case in an effort to be more transparent.” However, Hall, at one point in the weeks after the shooting, told reporters that she was “prohibited” from firing Amber Guyger , the officer who killed Jean. Less than a week later, Guyger was fired. There’s also the issue of the criminal charge Guyger was facing. She was charged with manslaughter , but that could be changed to murder depending on what a grand jury decides. However, it was unclear when, or if, a grand jury would ever convene. It’s been nearly seven weeks since Guyger entered Jean’s apartment and killed him on Sept. 6, implausibly confusing her rental unit for his and purportedly suspecting he was an intruder in her home. Local law enforcement has been accused of helping Guyger coverup her crime , allowing her to avoid criminal charges and remain free nearly three days following the shooting before she turned herself in and was arrested. She was finally fired nearly three weeks after she killed Jean. Her toxicology report has also not been released even though she reportedly submitted to a test the night of the shooting. Where is Amber Guyger’s toxicology report? Questions about Botham Jean’s killer mount as she is given plenty of time to prepare her defense. https://t.co/XykjC85iuy pic.twitter.com/KHQVQkzet2 — NewsOne (@newsone) October 8, 2018 Jean family attorney Lee Merritt told journalist Jordan Chariton last week that Guyger was also given time to delete all of her social media accounts, except for her Pinterest account which “bragged about being violent, being short tempered. She bragged about use of force and she spoke out adamantly against things like kneeling [during the anthem] and said the NFL died of ‘Colin’ [Kaeprnick] cancer.” SEE ALSO: Dallas DA Accused Of Bungling Botham Jean Case Gets Major Endorsement For Election Where Is Amber Guyger’s Toxicology Report? Killer Mike is under fire after he did an interview with NRA TV in the wake of the March For Our Lives protests against guns in schools. In his interview, Killer Mike says he threatened his children that if they walked out of class during #NationalWalkoutDay, they could walk out of his house. He also defended his right to bear arms by saying that in the fictional African country of Wakanda, everyone had guns.   “I told my kids on the school walkout, I love you, if you walkout that school, walkout my house…we are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just don’t agree with.” – @KillerMike #MarchForOurLives pic.twitter.com/Gx8JLntmZ8 — NRATV (@NRATV) March 24, 2018 Only one problem, there were literally NO guns in Wakanda. In fact,  Wakanda had a lot of things. They had rhinos, they had explosives, they had shields, but they did not have guns.   Wakanda had wigs, but no guns. NBA YoungBoy Arrested for Assault

NBA YoungBoy is an American rapper who's just been arrested — and not for the first time — just hours after an alleged incident of brutal assault. A surveillance video appeared to show him body-slamming his glrifriend into the ground. Fair warning: every part of this, including the video below, is upsetting. YoungBoy Never Broke Again, better known as NBA YoungBoy or YoungBoy, is an American rapper whose best known songs are “Untouchable,” “No Smoke,” and “Outside Today.” As a teen, he was arrested for robbery. In August of 2017, he was sentenced for his involvement in an armed robbery. However, the judge only handed him a suspended 10-year sentence — and three years of active probation. That probation … just might come into play, here. TMZ reports that they received hotel security footage that appears to show NBA YoungBoy body-slamming his girlfriend. In this scary, scary video, he appears to knock her flat on the ground. She then appears to be stunned and to respond by getting up to leave, which is followed by YoungBoy appearing to chase her and physically drag her back into their shared room. A hotel guest reportedly heard the “commotion” and called the front desk — we can only imagine what they must have heard — and the front desk then called the police. Though the couple had apparently fled the Waycross, Georgia hotel by the time that police arrived, TMZ was told that the surveillance video and evidence found within the hotel room was enough for a warrant. Apparently some of what they found in the room was blood. The details of what must be an ongoing investigation haven't been made public, but that seems chilling enough on its own. Add it to the fact that he was involved in a drive-by shooting and look at his age — he's only 19 — and you realize that he's rapping up a frightening record of trouble with the law at a very young age. He was arrested in Tallahasee by US Marshalls. The outstanding warrant, stemming from Georgia, was for assault, for weapons violations, and for kidnapping. He was arrested over the weekend while on his way to a scheduled performance. That must make it pretty easy for the arresting agents. Unfortunately, some of the charges may be more difficult for prosecutors to make stick. Why? Because a lot of kidnapping and assault cases hinge upon the victim pressing charges, even though everyone knows that many abuse victims are both too frightened and too manipulated to pursue legal action. And while it likely won't change anything about the weapons violations, Jania — YoungBoy's girlfriend — has put out a strange video denying that he did anything wrong. In the video, which you can see below, Jania makes odd statements in an effort to communicate that NBA YoungBlood isn't abusing her, that the two were just engaged in playful roughhousing because they're both young . A number of fans noted that she doesn't seem to be making much sense. Others observed that, in their opinions, she looked shaken and nervous while recording the video. Some wondered what injuries she might be masking with her hair and clothing. After all, there was reportedly blood found in their room. Watch the video below and decide what you think of Jania's version of events for yourself:
