Here’s The Number One Reason White Americans Are So Much Richer Than Black Folks

The Reason For Racial Wealth Gap Pinpointed Apparently, doing all the right things” isn’t quite enough for Black folks to close the wealth gap between ourselves and whites …and it all boils down to one big factor. No it’s not hard work, higher education, or going into more lucrative fields. The bottom line is…inheritance. Many white people are simply born with a claim to substantial amounts of family money. According to Bloomberg , recent findings from the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances suggest that the gap in wealth between white households and African American homes lands at $13 in net wealth in median white households for every $1 in net wealth of the median black household. However, the traditional methods of wealth accumulation do virtually nothing for Blacks to begin to close said gap. A study from researchers Brandeis University and public policy group Demos finds that neither attending college, raising children in a two-parent household, working full time, nor spending less does anything to the racial wealth gap. For instance, college attendance is one of the number one ways Black people seek to widen their earning potential. While it definitely helps us to earn more and thus accumulate more wealth, the median white adult attending college already has 7.2 times the wealth of the median black adult. The same goes for two-parent homes, full time employment, curbing spending, etc. — the average white person making the same exact moves already has more money. Another study from Duke University also shoots down the myth of African Americans being too-heavy spenders and over-consumers. At every income level, blacks actally spend less than similarly situated whites. DAMN…so if all this is getting us nowhere, then what is the answer?? CreativeCommons

For Your Information: U.S. Unemployment Rate Falls To 6-Year Low 5.8%, 214,000 Jobs Created

Look at what we have here… Unemployment Rate Down to 5.8%, 214,000 Jobs Created Via Reuters U.S. job growth increased at a fairly brisk clip in October and the unemployment rate fell to a fresh six-year low of 5.8 percent, underscoring the economy’s resilience in the face of slowing global demand. Despite the strengthening labor market picture, wage growth remained tepid, suggesting the Federal Reserve would be in no hurry to start lifting interest rates. Employers added 214,000 new jobs to their payrolls last month, the Labor Department said on Friday. The unemployment rate fell from 5.9 percent, even as more people entered the labor force, a sign of strength in the jobs market. Data for August and September were revised to show 31,000 more jobs created than previously reported. “Today’s jobs report confirms that the U.S. remains the bright spot in a global economic picture filling with clouds,” said Michael Griffin, managing director at CEB in Arlington, Virginia. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 231,000 new jobs last month and for the unemployment rate to hold steady. U.S. stock index futures edged up on the data. Prices for U.S. Treasury bond prices fell slightly and the dollar was little changed. Monthly job growth has exceeded 200,000 for nine straight months, the longest stretch since 1994, sufficient strength to keep the economy on a higher growth path after it expanded at a 3.5 percent pace in the third quarter. Maybe Barry-O is doing a better job than the GOP (and some dissociative Democrats) wants to give him credit for. Image via Shutterstock

What In The Hell Were YOU Thinking??? Man Tries To Pay For Walmart Purchase With A Million Dollar Bill

This nutjob here… A Lexington man is accused trying to use a fake $1 million bill to pay for his purchases at a Walmart. Michael Anthony Fuller, 53, of 3 Parker St., walked into the Walmart on Lowes Boulevard in Lexington on Nov. 17. He shopped for a while, picking up a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven and other merchandise, totaling $476, an arrest warrant says. When he got to the register, Fuller gave the cashier the phony bill, saying that it was real. Store staff called police. Fuller was later charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense and uttering a forged instrument, both felonies, court records show. A warrant says of the fake million-dollar bill: “There is no such thing.” The largest bill in circulation is a $100 bill. In 1969, federal officials discontinued the use of $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 bills because of lack of public use. The largest note ever printed was the $100,000 bill, which featured President Woodrow Wilson. The bills, which were not available to the public, were printed from Dec. 18, 1934, through Jan. 9, 1935, and were used for transactions between Federal Reserve banks. Fuller was being held Friday night in the Davidson County Jail with bond set at $17,500. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. You big dummy ! Source

Credit Card Use Up For First Time In 3 Years

See the rest here:

Americans took on more debt in May and used their credit cards more for only the second time in nearly three years. Consumers stepped up their borrowing just as the economy began to slump and hiring slowed. How College Students Can Build A Simple Budget The Federal Reserve said Friday that consumer borrowing rose $5.1 billion in May, the eighth straight monthly increase. It followed a revised gain of $5.7 billion in April. Borrowing in the category that covers credit cards increased, as did borrowing in the category for auto and student loans. Borrowing is a sign of confidence in the economy. Consumers tend to take on more debt when they feel wealthier. That boosts consumer spending. Ultimately, it gives businesses more faith to expand and hire. But an increase in credit card debt can also be a sign of people falling on harder times. 7 Affordable Gifts That Build Wealth The economy added just 18,000 jobs in June, the fewest in nine months, the Labor Department said Friday. It was the second straight month of feeble job growth. The unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent, the highest rate of the year. Economists have said that temporary factors, in part, have forced some employers to scale back hiring plans. High gas prices have cut into consumer spending, which fuels 70 percent of economic activity. And supply-chain disruptions stemming from the Japan crisis have slowed U.S. manufacturing production. Economists don’t expect consumers to load up on debt the way they did during the housing boom. During that period, Americans felt wealthier and more willing to take on increased debt because of the soaring value of their homes. The Federal Reserve’s borrowing report includes auto loans, student loans and credit cards. But it excludes mortgages and loans tied to real estate.

New Black Kid On The Block: Herman Cain Is The First Republican Candidate To Officially Decide To Run For President

Nevermind the dead birds, now we KNOW the world is coming to an end! Herman Cain is officially the first Republican candidate to form and exploratory committee to run for the President of the United States. According to Gawker : Yesterday, we noted that no Republican candidates had joined the 2012 presidential race, even though many did by this stage in the last cycle. But today someone formed an exploratory committee! He’s Herman Cain. Who the hell is Herman Cain? Cain hosts a conservative radio show in Atlanta. Tea Party groups and ultra-conservative business leaders at places like the Club for Growth adore him. He was a mathematician for the department of the Navy and holds a master’s in computer science. He was a corporate vice president for Burger King before becoming chief executive of Godfather’s Pizza, and he’s chaired the boards of both the National Restaurant Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He has been an African-American for the past 65 years. (Previously, he was unborn.) And today he’s formed the first Republican presidential exploratory committee. We thank him for finally kicking this shit off. And he has the potential to leave some mark on the race, given his popularity among dingbats. From National Journal: While he would undoubtedly enter the race as a significant longshot, Cain has generated considerable buzz among grassroots conservatives and Tea Party activists, having spoken at dozens of rallies nationwide. Cain, who is African-American, recently emerged as the surprise winner of a presidential primary bracket on the conservative blog RedState, edging former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) by 800 votes. Further demonstrating that he should not be dismissed as a fringe candidate, Cain was one of 12 potential Republican presidential hopefuls invited to an upcoming forum in Des Moines, Iowa. The event, organized by Iowa’s Faith and Freedom Coalition — an influential social conservative group with ties to the Tea Party — will likely be the first forum of the 2012 contest. Can we just name him president right now? Otherwise we’d have to label him a “dark horse” candidate, and the Internet would call us racist.

Elizabeth Edwards Stops Cancer Treatment; Releases Statement

December 6th, 2010 04:51 PM ET Elizabeth Edwards stops cancer treatment, releases statement mug.cnnpolitics By: CNN Political Unit (CNN) – Elizabeth Edwards is surrounded by family and friends in her North Carolina home after being informed by her doctors that further cancer treatment would be unproductive. “Elizabeth has been advised by her doctors that further treatment of her cancer would be unproductive,” the Edwards family said Monday in a statement. “She is resting at home with family and friends and has posted this message to friends on her Facebook page.” The message from Edwards, the wife of two-time presidential candidate John Edwards, reads: “You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope. These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined. The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that. And, yes, there are certainly times when we aren't able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It's called being human. “But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful. It isn't possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know.” Edwards was told by her doctors last week that additional cancer treatments were futile, said a source close to the family. Her prognosis was described in terms of weeks, not months, the source said. She is receiving treatment and medications, however, for symptoms and side effects. “She is not in pain and all things considered there is a good vibe here,” said the source. “She has prepared for this” John Edwards and their children are at her side, along with Elizabeth's brother and sister. – CNN's John King and Raelyn Johnson contributed to this report added by: EthicalVegan

Bernanke portrayed the Federal Reserve as the great protector of the U.S. economy, he claimed that unemployment would be 15 percent higher if the Federal Reserve had sat back and done nothing during the financial crisis and he even started laying the groundwork for a third round of quantitative easing. added by: Revelation1217
