Noreaga Wants Jay-Z and Dame Dash To Reconcile For Christmas

See the article here:

Just minutes after wishing Jay-Z a Happy Birthday via Twitter, one-time Roc-A-Fella Records associate Noreaga publicly wished that Hov and his former partner Dame Dash would reconcile. Get The Inside Scoop On Harlem! “For Christmas I ask Santa if Hov and Dame could talk,” Nore wrote on his Twitter page .  “Maybe make Irv president of something and to free Boosie n  Ja Rule. I hope I get it. Please.” Jay-Z and Dame co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995  along with partner Kareem “Biggs ” Burke. After years of success building a label, clothing line and various other ventures, the team had a very public falling out, selling their stakes in Roc-A-Fella to Def Jam. After releasing the classic album  The War Repor t with is partner Capone in 1995 on Penalty Records,  Nore was signed to Def Jam Records as a solo artist. His debut album N.O.R.E contained the Neptunes-produced hit “Superthug.” In 2006 he released a Reggaeton album on Roc-La-Familia called N.O.R.E. y la Familia…Ya Tú Sabe executive produced by Jay-Z.  Nore also appeared in several of the Roc-A-Fella movies including State Property , State Property 2 and Death of A Dynasty . Possibly inspired by the holiday season and Jay-Z’s birthday, Nore offered many personal observations about the team and was very passionate in his defense of Damon Dash and The Inc’s Irv Gotti. “I think Dame was one of the best black ceo’s of our generation.  I think Irv Gotti was one of the best executives minus they attitudes at one point,” he wrote. “Dame came to my studio so much cause he heard I always had his artists booking sessions and he just wanted to be around energ y. Everybody who say they hate Dame, if he got back wit Hov u would love him again!!! Every bit of footage u saw of Dame yelling he made sense… It’s just [his] tactics was wrong. PAY ATTENTION. The bad cop good cop thing was something they invented. Dame [just] kept playing that character too long.” Nore went on to highlight that Diddy’s Ciroc deal may not have happened had it not been for Jay-Z and Dame’s Armadale Vodka venture.  Also citing a lack of Black leadership at record labels Nore felt that two should at least speak, even if they don’t become best friends again. “I got love for Hov & Dame,”  he added. “I’m not taking sides nor am I saying who’s right or wrong I’m just saying I miss Roc-A-fella, miss the unity. I just always get sad when I see them by they self.  I’m not saying bring Roc-A-Fella back but Dame should be able to call Hov and say happy Bday.” READ NORE’s FULL THOUGHTS ON HIS TWITTER PAGE @Noreaga. Freeway Recalls How Storied Roc-A-Fella Fell Apart

‘At one point in time, we were a family,’ Freeway tells ‘RapFix Live’ of Jay-Z/Damon Dash era. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Freeway and Sway Photo: MTV News Roc-A-Fella Records was once one of the most storied labels and rap crews in the business. Under the guidance of Jay-Z, Damon Dash and Kareem “Burke” Biggs, artists like Kanye West , Beanie Sigel , Cam’ron, Memphis Bleek and Freeway were able to carve out careers for themselves that would carry on even after the label disbanded. On Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” with host Sway, Free discussed the last days of the Roc, the separation that existed between the record label’s subdivisions and how he was able to bounce back. “At one point in time we were a family. The whole thing about Roc-A-Fella that they pride themselves on is the family structure,” Freeway said of the label that was composed of a number of sub-crews like the Diplomats, State Property and Bleek’s Get Low clique. Free then went on to describe how the once-united crews came to be divided. By 2005, the Jay-Z/Dame Dash feud was dominating headlines, but for Free, the reality didn’t set in until after he dropped his 2007 sophomore album. “It definitely was a point in time when I was like, ‘Oh sh–, what am I gonna do?’ ” the bearded MC recalled, saying that it was former Roc-A-Fella A&R Lenny Santiago who broke the news to him and State Property. “I think it was the time when it was really over and everybody got dropped, after [’07’s] Free at Last, probably like a couple of months after that, that’s when we realized. Lenny S. came to Philly to talk to us. “He was like, ‘Look, man, it’s gonna be some changes again; everything ain’t how it was,’ basically, ‘It’s over.’ ” Without a hint of bitterness in his voice, the street-hardened MC described his mind-set. “What I did is go back to what I normally do,” he told Sway. According to Philly Freezer, when he first appeared on Jay-Z’s “1-900-Hustler” in 2000, he wasn’t actually signed to Roc-A-Fella: His deal came after a series of radio freestyles and battles in which Free proved himself. So when his deal with the legendary label dissolved, he went back to what he knew, grinding on the underground level. Free’s 2010 Stimulus Package, produced with Jake One, helped cement his status as a formidable MC and should nicely set up his Diamond in the Rough LP coming later this year. To let Freeway tell it, the transition from being under the Roc umbrella was relatively easy. “When the whole breakup came, I just went back to what I know,” he said. “It was actually better for me because I already had a name established from the Roc-A-Fella brand.” Related Videos Freeway On ‘RapFix Live’ Related Artists Freeway

Beanie Sigel Cried At State Property Reunion Concert

‘I would cry for a minute, I was dancing, I was happy,’ Sigel says on ‘RapFix Live’ of last weekend’s show. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Beanie Sigel Photo: MTV News As far as rap crews go, Philadelphia’s State Property were emerging as one of hip-hop’s most promising collectives until they were torn apart by business tiffs and legal drama. Signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, State Property and group leader Beanie Sigel lost steam after label co-CEOs Jay-Z and Damon Dash parted ways and Beans went on to serve a 10-month stint in prison that ended in 2005 . But this past weekend, SP reunited onstage in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a show that Beanie said brought tears to his eyes. “The whole State Property was there, everybody: Chris, Neef, Oschino, Sparks, Freeway, Peedi Crack and me, all seven of us. That was love,” Sigel said during his visit to “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. “They all went out and I came out last. I was in the back. I didn’t know how to feel. I would cry for a minute, I was dancing, I was happy and then it was like, ‘My boys, man.’ ” Sigel told Sway that the SP reunion is now in full swing and, in addition to music, he’s working on a movie script for “State Property 3.” The first two “State Property” films were theatrical releases that became cult favorites and helped the group cement its brand in the mid-2000s. “I’m working on a script, ‘State Property 3,’ it’s about time,” Beans revealed before touching on the group’s musical plans. “When we got together, we had our meeting, our initial conversation about doing what we thought was necessary for us and for music, for everybody’s careers as State Property the group and solo careers.” As Sigel sees it, State Property would function as a collective, with each individual act pulling double duty as solo artists. To make his point, Beanie singled out Young Chris, who recently signed a deal with producer/songwriter Rico Love’s Division 1 label. “Everybody can do their own individual thing that they doing. Like Chris doing his thing with Division 1, he got a lot of good music that’s about to come through. “We make beautiful music together, all of us State Property,” Beans added. “We can stay out on our own and we can do us.” Are you looking forward to new music from State Property?
