With the Valentine’s Day weekend upon us many folks will be looking for a flick to cuddle up with. But what are the choices? The sad fact is that seeing two Black people in love (or even lust) on the big screen is becoming more and more rare. Remember when it felt like we had another movie filled with beautiful brown skinned people coming out several times a year? A lot of you fifteen-year-olds owe your existence to a date night where Love Jones was shown. Trust. But we want to hear from you. Actor/comedian Mike Epps is never one to shy away from controversy. He stopped in Houston on a comedy tour and had some choice words about our favorite reality television mom. Epps went in on Jim Jones’ mother by saying she looked like Freddy Kreuger and imitating Mama Jones’ gravelly voice. Then put Chrissy Lampkin in his crosshairs by cracking that Mama Jones would kick Chrissy’s a$$. The jokes were funny, but how funny will Jim Jones find Mike Epps’ sentiments. We all know how sensitive Chrissy and Mama Jones are, so something tells me this isn’t going to end well. Where are Mona Scott-Young’s cameras when you need them?! Despite Lil Wayne’s claims, Jay-Z is widely considered the best rapper living. His talent has afforded the former Marcy Projects resident trips to St. Tropez and luxury apartments in New York City. As nice as the money is for Jigga, he gives charitable donations to different organizations. Or does he? According to reports, hip-hop’s biggest figure only gave his own charity, The Shawn Carter Foundation , $6,431 in 2010. Jay-Z walked home with $67 million that year. In the same year, Beyonce made $87 million, after taxes, and contributed nary a copper penny to her husband’s scholarship foundation. Carter did just perform two sold out shows at Carnegie Hall where the proceeds were split between The Shawn Carter Foundation and the United Way of New York . Tickets ranged in price from $150 – $15,000. We know the total amount of ticket sales raised a nice sum of money for the charities, but exactly how much is actually going to the charities? Words By Adisa Banjoko Before landing her career changing slot on “American Idol”, R&B star Jennifer Hudson had a 5-year recording contract with Righteous Records. It is said that Righteous Records put Jennifer through a rigorous year of charm school, physical fitness and live performance training before releasing her from her contract so that she could take part in the third season of “American Idol”, where she finished in seventh place. Explore Jennifer Hudson ‘s Home Town Hudson credits her Grandmother as her inspiration in her 2007 Best Supporting Actress Oscar acceptance speech.“She was my biggest  inspiration, she had the passion but never had the chance and that is what pushed me forward.” In January 2012, Hudson released her autobiography   I Got This , but many critics were shocked to find the much publicized murder of her brother; mother and nephew were not mentioned in the book. Patriots Cut Player Hours Before Super Bowl

In what many are calling a heartless business move, the New England Patriots cut wide receiver Tiquan Underwood just a day before playing in the Super Bowl. This is the third time this year Underwood had been cut from the team. There were no disciplinary reasons from the move, the Patriots wanted to make room on the roster for Defensive End Alex Silvestro . To his credit, Underwood was a class act in his reaction to the move, stating on his Twitter page that he was still cheering for The Patriots. “Good Luck To The New England Organization, The Coaches, & All My Teammates… # PatsNation ,” he wrote. “THANK YOU Everyone For Your Support & Sympathy. Im Fine, This Will Only Make Me Stronger…Tough Times Never Last But Tough Ppl Do # TeamWood .” Underwood was third on the New England depth chart behind Chad Ochocinco and had three catches for 30 yards on the season. Hip-Hop is an arena where homophobia is commonplace. There hasn’t been a rapper with wide mainstream success to come out as gay  or bisexual. It looks like the gay community might have a hip-hop representative in Azealia Banks . She has been hailed as The Next Big Thing and in a recent interview with The New York Times , Banks was quoted saying: “Ms. Banks considers herself bisexual, but, she said: “I’m not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don’t live on other people’s terms.’” Although Azealia Banks doesn’t want to be the poster child for bisexuality in hip-hop, if she blows up the way tastemakers are predicting, she just might be thrust into the role.
