Just weeks after 18-year-old beauty entrepreneur Zandra Cunningham landed a huge deal with Target, another entrepreneur has inked deals with other national retailers. Lesley Riley , founder of the gourmet baking company Mama Biscuits, will have her products sold at Walmart, Sam’s Club, Whole Foods and other stores, Black News reported. The products that she sells are inspired by her grandmother’s recipes that were passed down through different generations in her family for over a century. Stepping into entrepreneurship was no easy feat for Riley. Like many Black founders she struggled with securing funding for her business. The lack of financial support didn’t deter Riley from making Mama Biscuits a success. She continued her passion for cooking and as word spread about how delicious her biscuits were, she built a demand. Her company is the country’s first gourmet biscuit baking company in the DMV area. “I want to give my customers and future customers the gift of eating our Artisan sweet, savory, gluten-free gourmet biscuits. I ship them all over the United States and would love for each household to experience them,” said Riley in a statement. “I never take anything for granted. No matter what opportunities come your way always remain humble. Opportunities aren’t given to everyone.” Riley also uses her company as an avenue for social good. She donates biscuits to local food pantries that serve the homeless and plans on launching a culinary education program for youth. Riley is slated to appear on In the Kitchen with David on QVC on March 17. Cops Kill People: Stephon Clark’s Family Files A Wrongful Death Suit Against Sacramento Officers

Source: Sacramento Bee / Getty Stephon Clark’s Family Files Federal Lawsuit Stephon Clark was gunned down in his grandmother’s backyard by two Sacramento police officers who failed to identify themselves and failed to seek medical attention for him according to a new federal lawsuit filed by Stephon’s family. According to CNN , the Clarks, like so many Black families across America, are looking for some level of accountability from police officers who wanton kill, dare we say murder, unarmed Black people. The lawsuit not only alleges that the unidentified officers used excessive force when they fired 20 shots without a single warning, but also that Stephon was racially profiled. Of the twenty shots fired, seven of them hit Stephon, three of those in his back according to the Clark family’s forensic pathologist. “When the facts are fully disclosed, we are confident that a jury will deliver justice that reflects how grossly the police land city officials failed Stephon, his family and the people of Sacramento,” Brian Panish an attorney for Clark’s children said in a statement. What does the city have to say about this? “Out of deference to the judicial process and because this is a matter of active litigation, we must respectfully decline to comment,” City Attorney Susana Alcala Wood said in a statement. Of course. SMH. We hope the Clark family can get some form of justice out of this murderous abuse of power.

Katt Williams Sparring Radio Host Wanda Smith Fired, Replaced By Jade Novah

Source: Prine Williams/Film Magic / Getty Wanda Smith Fired From V-103 Wanda Smith, the radio host who got into a spat with Kat Williams that spurned into an alleged gun pulling situation, has gotten the boot. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Wanda Smith and Miss Sophia, both of “Frank and Wanda in The Morning” were fired at the start of the new year. The two hosts were part of the original morning show that returned in 2018. Wanda’s firing is particularly shocking because she’s been on V-103 for more than two decades. She’s kept silently on her firing and only posted on Instagram; As for Miss Sophia however, she’s claiming that the station had her replacement on hand back in October to give “pointers” when really they were priming him for her position. She also added that Frank Ski’s never been a friend to her. “Now the reason we were told JR was sitting in with us was because he had a very successful show and big following on social media, so he was going to observe our show and give us some pointers and ideas on what we could do to have a better social media presence,” wrote Sophia on Instagram. “Frank Ski you sent me a text saying you were sad because of what happened. Why were you said, because of the part you played in the situation or because you see the writing on the wall for you. You also said that you will always be a friend. Is this something new that you are trying, because you have not shown yourself to be a friend to me from the first day I met you back in early 2000.”   Woo chile, the mess. The AJC now reports that Frank Ski, 54, has been matched up with a Los Angeles singer Jade Novah and New York sports radio personality JR Jackson. Both will start January 22. Jade is an Instagram personality with over 362,000 Instagram followers. She’s also known for her Beyonce impersonations.     JR is a sports reporter with over 81 million YouTube views. Interesting choice, it looks like the station’s trying to reach a younger demographic and clearly not everyone’s pleased about it. What do YOU think about this radio shakeup??? Following the death of Tamera and Adam Housley’s niece in the Thousand Oaks shooting , the famous twin sisters are mourning the loss of their grandmother, who has passed away after battling cancer. Tia and Tamera expressed their deepest sorrows via Instagram this past Sunday. “Grandma Clo … You are the strongest person I know,” Tamera wrote. “You are the matriarch of our family. Every good thing trickles down from you. You amaze me every day with your strength and unconditional love. Your obedience and love towards our Heavenly Father is admirable. PEOPLE Magazine reports that the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 47, gave birth to daughter Brooklyn Doris Daly at 9:39 a.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 4. The baby girl weighs 5 lbs. and 12 oz. Moore explained the baby’s name for the magazine: “Brooklyn because that’s where we met and fell in love, and Doris after my grandmother who passed away last year and who raised me,” Moore tells PEOPLE. Brooklyn is the first child for Moore and her husband Marc Daly and the couple told the magazine that the new mom is doing well and “Brooklyn is very alert and active.” Moore reportedly conceived baby Brooklyn through in vitro fertilization and gave birth via emergency c-section after testing positive for preeclampsia. Moore blamed the condition for causing her to gain “17 lbs. in ONE week due to severe swelling and water retention, high blood pressure, and excess protein in urine.” We’re glad that both mom and baby are healthy and doing well after that scare! Saturday Kenya posted on Instagram to let the world know that her baby was on the way. “If you want to make God laugh have a plan…” she captioned in the photo that showed her in her hospital bed. “Won’t be long now. Stephon Clark’s Family Files $35 Million Wrongful Death Claim With City Of Sacramento

(Family courtesy photo via AP) It has been almost six months since two Sacramento police officers shot and killed 22-year-old Stephon Clark as he stood in the backyard of his grandmother’s home. The officers fired about 20 shots and said that they thought he was holding a gun and were in fear for their lives. He was only holding a cell phone. The Sacramento Police Department’s internal investigation of the shooting is still ongoing, as is the investigation being led by the California State Attorney General. Both officers involved in Clark’s death have been back on the job for at least four months, and activists continue demanding justice for his death. According to the  Sacramento Bee, Clark’s family has filed $35 million in wrongful death claims with the city of Sacramento. The city has not officially released any documents to confirm this, a news release acknowledged that claims forms seeking damages “in excess of $15 million” for “nine separate causes of action that include negligence and wrongful death” have been filed with the city. Los Angeles attorney Dale Galipo and other attorneys reportedly filed claims seeking $20 million for Clark’s two children and $15 million for his grandparents and parents. According to the Bee , the documents were filed just before the six-month deadline to submit a wrongful death claim to the city. Such claims usually indicate a federal civil rights lawsuit will follow.
