Joe Jonas Wants To Hit The Road With Chris Brown

‘We liked working together, so I can see it working,’ Joe tells MTV News of his ‘See No More’ partner. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Joe Jonas was once a curly-haired kid from New Jersey who sang bubblegum pop/rock songs about puppy love with his brothers. Well, he’s grown up a lot since then. He chopped off his hair and, on his first-ever solo album , Fast Life, he’s opening up about falling in and out of love. And in August, the middle JoBro turns a very grown-up 22. So, what does he have planned for the big day? “I don’t have any birthday plans yet, actually,” he told MTV News recently. “I don’t even know where we’re going to be because we’re trying to figure out a touring situation right now and it either looks like I’m going on my tour, my own tour, or opening up for somebody, supporting somebody on tour.” While his plans are still to be determined, he was sure of one thing: “Wherever I am, there will be a party and it will be fun.” Speaking of tours, Joe was once rumored to be hitting the road with Britney Spears on her now all-female Femme Fatale trek . Those plans didn’t pan out, of course, and now he’s looking to hook up with someone else on the road. Joe even shared his dream tourmate with us. “My dream list, wow … I mean, doing a tour with Chris would be cool,” he said of Chris Brown, who helped the singer pen his first single, “See No More.” “I feel like, musically, we both have the same sounds and we liked working together, so I can see it working.” Joe’s album drops in September , and he told us that he’s not holding back on it. “It was scary in the beginning,” he said of doing a solo LP, “just because I knew this is my one opportunity to show people my journal: the good and bad of every relationship I’ve been in, you know, [and] what I look for [in relationships],” he explained. Nicki Minaj’s ‘We Miss You’ Eerily Mirrors Cousin’s Death

But rapper reveals on Twitter that leaked song was recorded last year. By Jocelyn Vena Nikki Minaj Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Just days after Nicki Minaj’s cousin was killed , a Nicki track called “We Miss You” leaked online with lyrics that address the murder of someone close to her. As the rapper noted online shortly after the song hit the Web, however, “We Miss You” was recorded nearly 12 months earlier. “Tho the lyrics of ‘We Miss You’ eerily depict the circumstances surrounding my cousin’s death, I wrote & recorded that song on 5/24/2010,” she tweeted . “It was sent to Mariah Carey & Keyshia Cole over a year ago for a possible feature. It didn’t make Pink Friday due to clearance issues. It’s an unauthorized leak.” Minaj then thanked her fans for their support in the wake of the tragic news: “Thank u ALL for your kind words and well wishes. Love.” After announcing the news of her cousin’s death on Twitter, the rapper had stayed off the micro-blogging site until Thursday’s (July 7) leak. Minaj did receive a tweet of encouragement and love from Femme Fatale tourmate Britney Spears : “Please keep @NickiMinaj & her family in your prayers. … keep up the amazing love and support you guys have for her.” “We Miss You” samples Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls” (which could explain the clearance issues) and is somber ode to a fallen friend. As the beat kicks in, Nicki spits, “Why’d you have to leave in July?/ On a peaceful and serene summer night,” eerily mirroring the events of her cousin’s death. Although the lyrics make reference to the fact that Nicki is rapping about a lover, it seems that the references to murder are very similar to how her cousin died last weekend when he was gunned down in Brooklyn. She later says on the song, “You said that you would leave these streets, and I know you didn’t mean in a body bag/ But now we see you were not bulletproof, and I’m mad ’cause you were the best that I ever had.” Share your condolences for Nicki and her family in the comments below. Taylor Swift To Turn Speak Now Rehearsal Into Charity Event

Country hitmaker will donate ticket sales from May 21 Speak Now Tour dress rehearsal in Nashville to tornado relief. By Mawuse Ziegbe Taylor Swift Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Taylor Swift will give fans an early taste of her upcoming Speak Now Tour for a very good cause. The country darling announced on Friday (May 6) that she will allow fans to buy tickets to the final dress rehearsal of her tour to benefit communities devastated by tornadoes in the South in late April. According to the Associated Press, Swift has been preparing for her upcoming trek over the past five weeks at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, which will be the site of the “Speak Now … Help Now” benefit. Although the chart-topper is used to speaking frankly about her personal life in her music, Swift has never invited fans to check out how she gears up for her live shows. The songstress explained that witnessing the havoc-wreaking storms while putting the Speak Now Tour together inspired her to switch things up and take action. “I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage,” Swift told the AP. “I’ve never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money.” The songbird added that the benefit will be different from her other live appearances, as she is still hammering out the kinks of the production. “We will probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal, but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can,” she said. Swift’s Speak Now Tour is slated to kick off May 27 in Omaha, Nebraska, but before she hits the road, the Grammy-winning superstar is set to unveil her latest video, “Mean,” on Friday night (May 6) on CMT and CMT.com at 10 p.m. ET. ‘X Factor’ Judge L.A. Reid Hints At Another Record Label Gig

‘I’m nobody’s fool, I didn’t give up my day job,’ former Universal exec tells Hot 97 of Sony rumors. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Jim Cantiello L.A. Reid Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Could L.A. Reid have another music executive gig up his sleeve? The music mogul resigned from his chairman post at Island Def Jam to become a judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor,” but he’s been dropping hints that he hasn’t completely abandoned the record label boardroom. When MTV News asked Reid whether the relationship “X Factor” has with Sony Music — the winner will get a recording contract from the label — means he may be taking on an executive role at the company in the near future, he didn’t totally dismiss the notion. “You’re good, you are so good, you’re good, let’s have that conversation another time,” Reid coyly told us. “Just hold that one for a little while; slow down, pal.” On Tuesday, during a phone interview with Hot 97′s Angie Martinez, Reid dodged a similar question from the radio personality while also noting that his gig on “X Factor” is only one of his gigs and “just a little bit of a shift.” “Listen, I’m nobody’s fool, I didn’t give up my day job,” Reid told Martinez. “I had to leave Universal Music Group and try my hat on someplace else that we’ll announce. We’ll announce that one in a little while.” While at Def Jam Reid, reported to Doug Morris, who recently left his post as chairman of the Universal Music Group. Morris will formally assume the role of CEO of Sony Music on July 1. Besides a recording contract from Sony Music, the eventual winner of “X Factor” will take home $5 million in cash. Cowell, Reid and the rest of the still-unannounced judges will be seeking artists with astronomical talents to match that windfall. “I’m personally looking for artists that are along the lines of today’s pop stars,” Reid said. “Whether it be a Rihanna or a Justin Bieber or a Kanye West or a Beyonc

By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images In Lady Gaga’s latest Gagavision , the singer opens up about the making of “Judas.” In episode 42, fans learn that Gaga has been hard at work preparing for the highly anticipated release of Born This Way ‘s second single, which drops April 19. “I graphic-designed the ‘Judas’ single cover myself,” she shares in the video. “I photographed the image with my cellphone for texture.” Gaga then sits in a Haus meeting, discussing the specifics of her album release. “I don’t want the word ‘deluxe’ on the album,” she stipulates to her team. “I hate that word.” Scattered around Gaga are images, seemingly from something “Judas”-related . On one photo the word “Judas” is printed with a cross on it, looking like artwork that could have easily appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s version of “Romeo and Juliet.” More photos are also spread on the floor, one of which seems to be of Gaga, her hair long and blond. After weeks of guessing who would play the Man of Steel’s leading lady in the upcoming “Superman” reboot , Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, along with director Zack Snyder announced on Sunday (March 27) that Academy Award-nominated actress Amy Adams will take on the iconic role. Snyder, whose latest endeavor, “Sucker Punch,” opened in second place at the box office this weekend, said in a statement, “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. Lady Gaga Releases Country Version Of ‘Born This Way’

New take on hit song, dubbed ‘The Country Road Version,’ features slide guitar, mandolin and harmonica. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images You can take all those Madonna comparisons and throw them out the window of your Ford F-150 truck, because on Thursday night Lady Gaga released a whole new version of her global smash “Born This Way” that featured a totally unexpected spin. After tweeting to her Little Monsters that she was preparing to release “Born This Way (The Country Road Version),” Mother Monster dropped the tune at midnight PT on Friday (March 25) via her Twitter account … and it did not disappoint. The new rendition of the hit opens with ominous, swirling guitars and then introduces a fuzzed-out slide guitar and harmonica wheeze, with all of the thumping disco beats replaced by restrained brush drumming and a more laid-back vibe. Once it kicks into the first chorus, the song continues to take its time, choogling along on live-sounding, laconic drumming and lots of soulful harmonica. Just before the three-minute mark, Gaga mixes in some new lyrics, drawling, “If I wanna make it country, baby, then it’s OK, cuz I was born, I was born, I was born this way,” over picked mandolin. “From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave,” she adds, as the song breaks into full-on country-rock mode reminiscent of late-period Bon Jovi in the final minute. Meanwhile, the original, non-boot-scooting version of “BTW” notched its sixth week in a row at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week, which is what Gaga said prompted her to drop the surprise remake on her fans. Earlier this week, Gaga revealed that she’s almost done recording her Born This Way album , telling fans via Twitter, “In Nebraska, finishing up record today … I’m so proud of the album: I keep dancing+drinking: metal/techno rock journey of a woman on the run.” Plans are now being worked up for the tour in support of Born This Way (due out May 23) and Gaga’s first swing at directing, a collaboration with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, on the video for the album’s upcoming second single, “Judas.” What do you think of Gaga’s twanged-up version of “Born This Way”? Emily Browning Talks Auditioning For ‘Hunger Games’

‘Sucker Punch’ star also opens up about declining ‘Twilight’ audition. By Terri Schwartz Emily Browning Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The role might have recently gone to Jennifer Lawrence , but there was a point in time when “Sucker Punch” star Emily Browning might have played District 12 champion Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming Lionsgate adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” “I read for ['Hunger Games'] a couple of times, but I’ve never read the book, to be honest — which I know is terrible of me,” Browning said in an interview with the Playlist . “I was nervous about it.” Despite the fact Browning started out her acting career as one of the leads in an adaptation of a popular children’s series, it was that experience that turned her off from moving on to starring in the young-adult genre. She admitted that there was a period of time between when she filmed 2004′s “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” and when she agreed to come onboard Friday’s “Sucker Punch” that she seriously considered quitting acting altogether. It was during that time that she found out “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer said she would be the perfect Bella Swan for the upcoming adaptation of the novel, but Browning wasn’t ready to commit to a franchise. “I was just exhausted, and I was like, ‘I’m sorry, but I just can’t sign onto a trilogy right now,’ ” Browning told MTV News in 2009, after she finished “The Uninvited.” “To be honest, if I had gone on to do the film straight after ‘The Uninvited,’ I would not have been a good Bella . and I’m hoping people realize that now.” But it was the fact that she was vilified for reportedly turning down the “Twilight” role that caused Browning to remain so hush-hush about trying out for “Hunger Games.” “It’s always hard for me to talk about these kinds of things, because I know there was a big deal with ‘Twilight’ and my involvement with people wanting me to do ‘Twilight,’ so I’m always like, ‘Oh, people love this book so much, I don’t want to get involved, I don’t want to talk about it!’ ” Browning explained. “I read for ['Hunger Games'] a couple of times, but I think every single girl in Hollywood read for it a couple of times, to be honest.” Would you have liked to see Emily Browning play Katniss Everdeen or Bella Swan?
