THG Celebrity of the Year Finalist #10: Adam Levine!

With 2012 drawing to a close, it is with immense pride that THG unveils its 10 finalists for its prestigious, arbitrary, 6th Annual Celebrity of the Year award. These stars gave us their best, their worst, their nude pics and sex tapes (sometimes) and their scandals (often). This month, THG honors that greatness. We kick off the top 10 with a somewhat surprising pick … Adam Levine ! Adam Levine has been around for what feels like an eternity, which makes his recent career surge all the more impressive. The guy is never not everywhere! Seriously. We challenge you to turn on the radio and not hear “Payphone.” When he’s not cranking out hits left and right with Maroon 5, the 33-year-old can be seen on TWO hit shows – The Voice and FX’s American Horror Story . As if helping make NBC’s wildly popular singing competition the biggest show on the entire network wasn’t impressive enough, he’s an actor now as well. Music is still his forte, of course, and with four platinum albums and many other collaborations to his name (most recently with 50 Cent), Adam’s success is only growing. Levine’s appeal is also enhanced by his authenticity. What he risks in being overexposed, he makes up for in being genuine, even if it means ruffling feathers. In recent years, he’s put American Idol, the MTV Video Music Awards, Fox News and even The Roxy nightclub on blast, among others. He doesn’t hold back. Congrats to Adam on a great year. Who will be THG’s Celebrity of the Year 2012? Check back regularly as the countdown continues throughout December! 50 Cent ft. Adam Levine – My Life (Live on The Voice) Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger (American Music Awards) Javier Colon and Adam Levine – Man in the Mirror Maroon 5 – Moves Like Jagger (Live at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show)

American Idol Judges Diss The Voice, Weigh in on Male Champions

Oh, it is on between American Idol and The Voice . During their panel discussion at yesterday’s Television Critics Association winter press tour session, judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler left little doubt that they don’t care much for NBC’s singing competition, which gets underway on February 5. Among the disses lobbed at The Voice by this trio and/or Fox executives: “It’s a compliment to Idol. We’re not hiring a lot of people from The Voice to be on our show.” – Fox reality president Mike Darnell on Kelly Clarkson joining The Voice as a mentor “It was almost like second chance people; it wasn’t some new artist.” – Randy Jackson on The Voice champion Javier Colon having had a contract with Capitol Records

Lauren Conrad & Kyle Howard: Behind the Break-Up

Three year of blissful dating came to an end last week, as Lauren Conrad and Kyle Howard shocked the celebrity gossip world by breaking up . What happened?!? “He saw the relationship as distracting from his goal of being the next Robert De Niro,” an insider says in the latest issue of Us Weekly . “He wasn’t supportive of her career.” With an upcoming role on Royal Pains , and a critically-beloved turn on My Boys , Howard does have a bright acting career in front of him. He reportedly felt like LC’s reality star roots weren’t an appropriate fit. “All of her friends can count on one hand the amount of times they’ve seen him,” said a source, adding that “Lauren is heartbroken… She wants to be married and have kids.”

Justin Bieber Previews Next Album

Don’t worry, fans: Justin Bieber won’t be promoting perfume forever. The singer is already planning his next album, although it’s unlikely to hit stores any time soon. In an interview with MTV, Justin said of the eventual CD: “I want to] write a lot myself. I will be working with a lot of other producers and stuff like that, but I’m just writing a lot, writing on tour.” Fans have plenty of options to listen to until Bieber does take over the charts with his next release, of course. He’s already come out with (deep breath…) My World, My World 2.0, Never Say Never – The Remixes and My Worlds Acoustic. Expect to hear more of the latter down the road. “I’ve done a lot on my acoustic guitar, so it’s gonna have that vibe. I’m not gonna really limit myself… I know there’s country music, there’s rock music, but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music.” Should we bother to ask: Are you excited for a new album from Justin Bieber? [Photo: WENN.com]
