Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Over the weekend, the talk of the internet was two documentaries that highlighted the epic struggle that was Fyre Festival . One of the many people involved in the scam was rapper Ja Rule who can be seen in both docs excited about the festival that never was. He recently broke his silence, blasting both documentaries on Twitter. Y’all want it to be me sooo bad it’s crazy… kinda sad!!! the crazy shit is I’m watching the docs in awe myself… — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 Should have just said nothing at all. 50 Cent’s favorite punching bag Jeffrey Atkins tried to Tweet through the slander coming his way and failed miserably. Rule believes that both docs unfairly levied the blame on him for the disaster that was Fyre Fest and said “I love how ppl watch a doc and think they have all the answers,” days after Hulu’s Fyre Fraud and Netflix’s Fyre documentaries dropped. I love how ppl watch a doc and think they have all the answers… — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 He then followed that up by defending himself by ridiculously stating he had an “amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!!” and adding “I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make???” I had an amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!! I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make??? — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 While both documentaries detail how disastrous Fyre Festival was, The Ringer pointed out that both docs have some eye-opening issues. Hulu paid convicted fraudster Billy McFarland, and an undisclosed amount of money for an on-camera interview and Netflix’s doc was co-produced by Jerry Media better known as the Fuck Jerry group who helped market the festival. Ja Rule wasted no time shifting any blame thrown his way and directed it towards his former business partner stating he has “receipts, “pointed out those issues with the docs and made himself to look like a victim as well stating he lost “plenty” of money. Hulu PAID BILLY!!! That money should’ve went to the Bahamian ppl Netflix PAID fuck Jerry the same guys that did the promo for the festival… — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray!!! — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 PLENTY… https://t.co/Pb5tOW3ueL — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 20, 2019 Through all the mess, Twitter did finally put enough pressure on the Queens rapper to apologize to Bahamian native and restaurant owner MaryAnne Rolle who was screwed over by the festival. My heart goes out to this lovely lady… MaryAnne Rolle we’ve never met but I’m devastated that something that was meant to be amazing, turn out to be such a disaster and hurt so many… https://t.co/16ld7ePlvQ — Ja Rule (@Ruleyork) January 21, 2019 Since the release of the docs, she has managed to raise $144,735 through her own campaign and exceeded her goal $123,000. Speaking with TMZ exclusively she still feels Ja Rule should pony up $100k and we definitely agree he should pay her if he is indeed genuinely sorry. — Photo: Patrick McMullan / Getty

A Lil Penitentiary ChitChatter: Ja Rule Talks About Thuggin’ It Up Real Tough On His First Night In Prison To Set Them Fools Straight… SMH

For somebody who used to stay growling “It’s Murdaaaaaaaaaaaa” this guy sure has changed his tune. Ja Rule just penned a letter from jail about his first night in prison and sent it to Allhiphop.com . Check it out: My first night here was crazy inmates screaming, banging, and kicking the doors calling the male CO’s b***h a** n***as f***ots telling the female CO’s how they gonna f**k em, throwing plates of food out their cells onto the floor LOL. WELCOME TO THE GREEN MONSTER! This type of shit would never happen upstate at best you’d be in the box for a month at worst the infirmary. I even got into it wit these stupid n***as trying to assassinate my character talkin about I’m snitching to the guards and that I’m getting special treatment. I barked on these n***as and set em straight cause as a man there’s only so much you can take before you snap. At first I tried to ignore there lil comments until they started talkin sh*t like they gonna kick my door and all this clown sh*t. But the funny thing is when I started screaming on them lettin them know they got the wrong n***a they got excited it was like that’s what they wanted to bring the hood out of me. That’s when I realized that I’m dealing wit kids they can’t be n***as my age cause that would’ve lead to instant confrontation not instant admiration. After I set em straight they wanted to talk ask me about the industry I could tell they wanted to be my friend but just didn’t know how to go about it. So I chatted wit them for a lil bit before letting them know I was tried and ready to lay down. But as I layed I listened to them talk telling there life stories of how one was born in a crack house and grew up selling crack to his mother and how another watched his father get murdered rite in front of him by some dudes he owed money as they robbed his house and how they were now in jail for crimes of their own one for beating his girl friend the other for a murder. One of them them is 19 the other just turned 23 yesterday. Both with kids of their own. When will we break the cycle? WILLIE LYNCH LIVES ON… DAMN! When I got here I was happy to see some officers of the same skin color not that I’m racist or anything but in this type of situation and where I just came from you’d be happy to see some of your own too. Prejudice does still exist trust me I’ve been treated and seen it people treated like n***ers more in 1 month that I have my whole life I feel like a slave and even tho I haven’t heard anyone say it actions speak louder than words. As I walk through the door everyone staring like they can’t believe I just walked in cuffed from head to toe. Even tho I don’t feel like much of a star that’s all they see the star that has fallen. But as I look in their eyes I still see the love they still wanna meet me and greet me as if I’m on their own personal stage except there’s no screaming fans, fancy clothes & bright lights. Only screaming inmates me in my orange jumpsuit and little flash lights they shine in my cell at night. It’s hard to feel good signing autographs and taking pictures in this predicament but I did it with a smile cause I love my fans and never say no, nomatter what mood I’m in after the meet & greet they took me to my cell where I’ll be housed till my court date it’s not the best but it’s not the worst either they gave me some pillows and an extra mattress so I’ll live. This is my 3rd here and IA already came and got me to investigate my lil meet & greet. I basically told them to f**k off and that those are good cops cause they really were nice to me last thing I wanna see is good people get in trouble cause they got an autograph or a pic from me. You wanna investigate something investigate the crooked Hip Hop Task Force that got me into this s**t in the first place. As I sit in my cell listening to their stories I think about me and my Dad and how I hated to love him for so many years and how I vowed to be nothing like him only to have my mother say “your just like your father” LOL. Which made me curious to know him and of course just as we start to get closer to one another he dies. But I have my closure I learned alot about him and him about me in the short time we spent together. Which makes me think about my kids and how I’m raising them I am a great father and I have broken the cycle even though I’m in prison the foundation has already been layed. I hate being away from them for 20 months but s**t could just as easily been on tour for that long. I feel compelled I wanna help other kids break the cycle. I’ve been to 5 different prisons and all I see is n***as and I ain’t talking about black people I’m talking about ignorance. See the problem wit most people is they don’t smell s**t until they step in it and by that time it’s all over your shoe and everybody is tryin to get away from you. Now you have 2 choices you can either wash that shoe or throw it away. A lot of people choose to throw it away meaning they didn’t learn s**t but those that choose to wash that shoe tend to watch their step knowing how hard it was to get em clean. I think I’ll wash my shoes this time cause this s**t ain’t me. R.I.P William Jeffrey Atkins BREAK THE CYCLE! Well at least it sounds as if he’s learning something in there. We see this guy is taking a note out of T.I. and Weezy’s pen-playbooks. Do y’all care about Jeffrey Atkin’s penitentiary life??? More On Bossip! RihRih Gets Kushed Up And Goes Drizzy H.A.M. Ja Rule Sentenced To 28 Months For Tax Troubles

Incarcerated rapper gets added time for failing to file with the IRS. By Rob Markman Ja Rule Photo: Mark Mainz/Getty Images As if getting hit with a two-year jail bid wasn’t enough, rapper Ja Rule just got some more time tacked onto his current sentence. On Monday (July 18), Rule (born Jeffrey Atkins) was sentenced to 28 months in prison to run concurrent with his existing sentence for failing to file tax returns with the IRS for more than $1.1 million in taxes. Rule’s attorney, Stacey Richman, told MTV News she is grateful the court didn’t judge the rapper on his public persona. “We were all very concerned about what the potentials were, and we think that the outcome was very fair and that the court took him into account as an individual, and we appreciate that tremendously,” she said. In December 2010, Rule pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession stemming from a 2007 arrest. The 35-year old MC turned himself in June 8 to begin the bid, and got hit with the additional time Monday in a New Jersey federal court. The sentence was the result of Ja’s March admission of his failure to file for money earned from 2004 to 2006. The former Murder Inc. rapper commented on his tax troubles when he appeared on MTV’s “RapFix Live” in April. “Let me just clear this up for people who think that Ja Rule doesn’t pay taxes: bullsh–,” the rapper told MTV News’ Sway Calloway. “Ja Rule pays plenty of taxes, millions of dollars in taxes. I owed them a little bit more. I had some issues when the whole Murder Inc. thing went down with my accountant, and she had some federal issues with the boys herself for doing some things, so I fell into a few issues there, but it’s not an issue like that. That’s being taken care of.” When handing down the sentence, U.S. Judge Patty Shwartz said, “Taxpayers do not have the luxury of deciding whether to comply with the laws.” What the added time means for Rule is that, in theory, he will serve a full 28 months regardless whether his current New York state sentence ends early. If the rapper ends up serving the entire 24 months of his current incarceration, he will owe the government the extra four months. However, “good behavior” creates the possibility of a shorter federal sentence. Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Ja Rule Related Artists Ja Rule

Ja Rule Turns Himself In As Tearful Family Looks On

Rule accompanied by relatives in Manhattan courtroom before being led away to start two-year sentence. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Ja Rule arrives at court on Wednesday Photo: MTV News Ja Rule appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Wednesday (June 8) afternoon and turned himself in to begin his two-year prison sentence on weapons possession charges. Wearing a gray sweat suit, sunglasses and a somber look on his face, the 35-year-old MC (born Jeffrey Atkins) stood before a magistrate on the 13th floor of the criminal courts building in lower Manhattan and listened as he was formally sentenced to two years in prison in the wake of his guilty plea in December to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He was accompanied by his wife, associate Ron Robinson, lawyer Stacey Richman and various other family members as the sentence was read. Moments after he was cuffed and led out of the courtroom, Rule shouted, “See y’all” to his family in the back of the courtroom. “We love you,” they called back, as some burst into tears and Rule replied, “I love y’all too,” before being escorted to detention. Rule will spend up to two weeks at New York’s Rikers Island jail before being transferred to a different correctional facility upstate. Rule’s lawyer said she expected that with good behavior, the MC could be out in 18 to 20 months. The rapper is being jailed in connection with an arrest in July 2007 in which the Manhattan district attorney’s office claimed police found a loaded semi-automatic .40-caliber Taurus handgun, with the serial number scratched off, hidden in the backseat of the MC’s Maybach. The arrest took place on the same night that Lil Wayne was arrested on a gun charge, which sent the “Lollipop” rapper to jail for eight months last year. (Rule had been among the featured special guests at a New York concert headlined by Wayne.) Last month, Ja Rule sat with Sway on “RapFix Live” and expressed regret over his pending jail sentence. According to Rule, he feels as if he has let his wife and kids down. “I’m disappointed,” the multiplatinum rapper said. “I’m mad at myself.” Rule spoke specifically about his 15-year-old daughter, Brittany, but expressed concern about his two sons as well. “My daughter, she’s 15 right now,” Rule explained. “These are her last couple of years. She’s about to graduate from high school and she’s going to college. She needs her father. My boys really need me right now, too, as well as my wife. They need Daddy, and Daddy f—ed up.” Related Artists Ja Rule

Ja Rule To Begin Prison Term Today

Rapper will turn himself for two-year sentence after pleading guilty to 2007 gun charge. By Gil Kaufman Ja Rule Photo: Getty Ja Rule is slated to turn himself in to begin a two-year prison sentence on gun charges on Wednesday morning (June 8). The rapper (born Jeffrey Atkins) pleaded guilty in December to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a July 2007 arrest in which the Manhattan District Attorney’s office claimed police found a loaded semi-automatic .40-caliber Taurus handgun, with the serial number scratched off, hidden in the backseat of the MC’s Maybach. Ja Rule’s arrest took place on the same night that Lil Wayne was arrested on a gun charge, which sent the “Lollipop” rapper to jail for eight months last year. The two rappers had performed together that night in Wayne’s first major show in New York. Rule is expected to turn himself in on Wednesday morning, when he will be assigned to an Upstate New York correctional facility to serve his time. Last month, he sat down with MTV News and expressed regret over his pending jail sentence and feelings that he let his wife and children down. “I’m disappointed,” the multiplatinum rapper told Sway during “Rapfix Live.” “I’m mad at myself.” Rule, 35, spoke specifically about disappointing his 15-year-old daughter, Brittany, but expressed concern about his two sons as well. “My daughter, she’s 15 right now,” Ja explained. “These are her last couple of years. She’s about to graduate from high school, and she’s going to college. She needs her father. My boys really need me right now too, as well as my wife. They need Daddy, and Daddy f—ed up.” Ja also pleaded guilty in March to failing to pay more than $3 million in taxes in New Jersey and faces up to three years in prison in that case. He hoped his arrest and prison stint would convince young fans to leave guns alone. While Ja Rule’s first new album in six years, Pain Is Love 2, was reportedly due for release this week, that effort now appears to be on hold and until later this summer. Ja Rule Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion

Rapper, who is headed to jail on a weapons charge, admitted that he failed to pay taxes on $4 million in income. By Gil Kaufman Ja Rule Photo: Mark Mainz/Getty Images Queens rapper Ja Rule pleaded guilty to tax evasion in federal court in New Jersey on Tuesday, admitting that he had failed to pay taxes on more than $4 million in income. According to the Associated Press , the platinum-selling MC (born Jeffrey Atkins) earned the money between 2004 and 2006 while he lived in an upscale northern New Jersey enclave. The plea deal included an agreement by prosecutors to dismiss two counts of unpaid taxes on income earned in 2007 and 2008. Rule, 35, will be sentenced on the three remaining tax evasion charges in June and faces up to one year in prison and $100,000 in fines on each count. Ja Rule pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession in December, stemming from a July 2007 arrest, but his prison sentencing was delayed earlier this month so he could get his finances in order. Lil Wayne, who Ja Rule performed with on that July night at the Cash Money star’s Beacon Theater show, was arrested on the same night and eventually served eight months in prison for the same offense. Rule is now slated to be sentenced on June 8 and has agreed to a two-year prison term in that case. At the time of the sentencing postponement, Rule’s lawyer said the delay would allow her client to resolve his tax issue and maybe work on his next musical project as well. “We want to finish the album, and there’s also a tax issue,” lawyer Stacey Richman said. “Somebody, an accountant, had filed an incorrect form, and this is to correct what was done in the past.” Related Artists Ja Rule

“All of those rainyyy daaays, spend ya lifetime tryin’ to wash awaaaaay” Ja Rule agreed to pay over $1.1 million in tax debts and IRS penalties after the rapper pleaded guilty to tax evasion Tuesday. Ja—whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins—pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to three counts of failing to file a tax return, from 2004 through 2008, despite earning income from touring and royalties from his albums. U.S. federal judge Patty Shwartz set Ja Rule’s bail at $500,000 and permitted the Grammy nominated rapper’s release pending sentencing scheduled for June 13. Each count of tax evasion carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. Early June will be a busy time period for Atkins as he was already scheduled to begin a two-year sentence for gun possession in relation to a 2007 arrest on June 8. Between the previous weapon charges and the tax penalties, Ja Rule faces a possible five years in prison. “Each of us must pay our fair share to keep this country going,” U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said in a statement. Ja is reportedly working on a sequel to his triple-platinum album Pain Is Love in the remaining months before his prison term begins. Man, this guy can’t win for losing.
