Nate Parker‘s Birth Of A Nation is one of the most divisive films in recent memory. Experts had it as a sure-shot Oscar favorite before a 1999 rape accusation against writer, director and star Nate Parker began to overshadow the rave reviews the film earned on the festival circuit. But social media has turned […]

We've fallen in love with a lot of couples on Grey's Anatomy over the years, though most of them are no longer together. In fact, you might have even forgotten some of these couples were once a thing. We've ranked the top 27 couples(there are SO many) from Grey's Anatomy below. Find out which ones were our favorites! 27. Callie and Penny Maybe in another time and place, we could have gotten on board with this relationship, but Callie’s girlfriend turning out to be the doctor who couldn’t save McDreamy? Too many issues there to begin with. Add to that the fact that Penny’s decision to move to New York spawned a nasty custody battle between Callie and Arizona, and well, we just don’t like it. 26. George and Izzie Ugh. George and Izzie’s attempts at a romantic relationship were not only awkward, but also broke up George’s marriage to Callie. They should have just stayed friends all along. 25. Derek and Rose Rose was actually pretty okay, but she was just an obstacle for Derek and Meredith to finally be able to be together. You have to feel a little sorry for Rose, though she made it clear she was able to stand up for herself early on. 24. Jackson and Stephanie Jackson and Stephanie were cute together, but not exactly memorable. Especially since all we really wanted was for Jackson to finally be with April. 23. Alex and Ava It was so nice to see this side of Alex — the side that could be sweet, sensitive, and a caretaker. Unfortunately, his relationship with Ava / Rebecca was totally dysfunctional and ended in heartbreak. 22. George and Callie Look, these two just weren’t supposed to be together, and their rushed marriage was a trainwreck. That was only made worse when George cheated on Callie. View Slideshow
Jesse Williams was honored at the 2016 BET Awards on Sunday night. A social activist prominent in the Black Lives Matter movement, the Grey’s Anatomy actor accepted the show’s Humanitarian Award and proceeded to give a stirring speech on stage. Jesse Williams BET Awards Speech Referring to Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old shot dead by a white police officer in Cleveland in 2014, Williams said the following: “Yesterday would have been young Tamir Rice’s 14th birthday.” “So, I don’t want to hear anymore about how far we’ve come when paid public servants can pull a drive by on a 12-year-old playing alone in a park in broad daylight, killing him on television and then going home to make a sandwich.” After citing the “black women who have spent their lifetimes dedicated to nurturing everyone before themselves,” Williams went further. He took critics of Black Lives Matter to task, adding: “If you have a critique for the resistance, for our resistance, then you better have an established record of critique of our oppression.” “If you have no interest in equal rights for black people, then do not make suggestions to those who do. Sit down.” It was a terrific speech. Watch it above. Among those who hailed Williams for his moving words was Justin Timberlake. “@iJesseWilliams tho… #Inspired #BET2016,” the artist Tweeted. Pretty strong response, right? Pretty basic praise, no? Not according to a few Timberlake critics on Twitter. JT’s seemingly harmless Tweey prompted one follower to write: “So does this mean you’re going to stop appropriating our music and culture? And apologize to Janet too. #BETAwards.” The latter is a reference to the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show in which Timberlake performed alongside Janet Jackson. The singer pulled off a piece of her ensemble, briefly exposing her nipple in front of tens of millions of viewers. The move resulted in stricter broadcasting standards across television and backlash aimed at all those involved. We had no idea this was still a thing to some people. Timberlake quoted the critical tweet, replying as follows: “Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye.” Things just snowballed from here, as users called out Timberlake for not using his celebrit7 platform to speak out for black rights. And also for the damage he caused to Jackson’s career more than a decade ago. “I feel misunderstood,” Timberlake wrote in reply. “I responded to a specific tweet that wasn’t meant to be a general response. I shouldn’t have responded anyway… I forget this forum sometimes… “I was truly inspired by @iJesseWilliams speech because I really do feel that we are all one… A human race.” “I apologize to anyone that felt I was out of turn. I have nothing but LOVE FOR YOU AND ALL OF US.” View Slideshow: 90s Boy Bands: Where Are They Now? In his speech, Williams did condemn cultural appropriation, saying: “We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us. “Burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil. Black gold.” “Ghettoizing and demeaning our creations, then stealing them, gentrifying our genius, then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit.” “The thing is though, just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real.”

It’s been three months since we first learned that Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin have separated , but the drama is still in high gear. While neither party has filed for divorce, the terms of their split are being decided in the court of public opinion on a daily basis. Now, rumors are circulating online that Javi is planning to tell his side of the story in a tell-all memoir that will blow the lid off of Kailyn’s public image. While details have been scarce, several media outlets have reported that Javi is upset with the way he’s been portrayed in the celebrity gossip world. As such, he’s planning to set the record straight via a quicky tell-all. Life & Style was the first to report that Javi is soon to become an author (with the help of a ghostwriter), but the tabloid didn’t go into much detail with regard to what Marroquin planned to reveal. Several “insiders” claimed that the 23-year-old would focus on rumors about Kailyn’s plastic surgery , as well as her love life in the weeks since the couple went their separate ways. Recently, Teen Mom 2 viewers have demonstrated an intense interest in Lowry’s relationship with Becky Hayter – a longtime friend of both Kailyn and Javi, whom Kailyn is allegedly dating. View Slideshow: Kailyn Lowry & Javi Marroquin Divorce: A Timeline of Destruction So perhaps it’s not surprising that sources are claiming Javi plans to reveal the nature of Lowry and Hayter’s relationship in his book. Unfortunately for TM2 fans who were looking forward to some scandalous summer reading, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup says it’s not happening. Ashley is reporting in no uncertain terms that there’s no truth to the rumors of Javi spilling the tea in book form. “It’s simply not true at all,” a source tells the site. “Kail would probably end up telling people herself before Javi would write a tell-all.” So does this mean we can expect a juicy memoir from Kail herself in the near future? The fan favorite has already penned one popular memoir, but with all the recent developments in her life, a sequel might be in order. Follow the link to watch Teen Mom 2 online for more on the rollercoaster life of Ms. Lowry, and speculate on what more might be revealed. Demi Lovato has once again opened up about the depths of her former drug problem. Ever since she entered rehab in late 2010, the artist has been brutally honest about what led her to seek professional assistance in the first place. She had low self-esteem. She had an eating disorder. She snorted A LOT of cocaine . At one point, in fact, Lovato now admits that she thought she’d be long gone by now. As in… dead. “I lived fast and I was going to die young,” Lovato says in the latest issue of American Way. “I didn’t think I would make it to 21.” Now 23, Lovato battled drug and alcohol addictions as a teenager. She was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Through the years, the singer has spoken candidly about her personal struggles, doing the same now with the pages of American Airlines’ inflight magazine. In this cover story, Demi recalls how she used to self-medicate with alcohol, cocaine and OxyContin. Her mother, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and Lovato’s grandmother had both struggled with bulimia, according to the star. “Even though I was 2 or 3 years old,” the singer told the magazine. “Being around somebody who was 80 pounds and had an active eating disorder…it’s hard not to grow up like that.” In a previous interview, Lovato said she used to smuggle hard drugs on to airplanes . Because of you, I stopped self-harming,’ or ‘I got sober.’ Hearing those things gave my life new meaning.” She concludes: “At times I was resentful for having that kind of responsibility. But now, it’s really become a part of my life. It holds me accountable.” We love and admire you, Demi Lovato.
Jesse Williams may not have been a household name prior to the 2016 BET Awards. He's grown in popularity as a key cast member on Grey's Anatomy, but he's still flown under the Hollywood radar for the most part. That's because Williams is more likely to help out with an important cause then have lunch at The Grove… … but that's also why he was honored at the aforementioned ceremony. In accepting the Humanitarian Award, Williams earned a standing ovation, thanking both his parents and his wife before dedicating his award to “the real organizers all over the country,” those he said are realizing that “a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do.” The actor continued: “The more we learn about who we are and how we got here, the more we will mobilize,” prior to acknowleding black women, “who have spent their lives dedicated to nurturing everyone before themselves. We can and will do better for you.” Williams worked as a history teacher before he started acting. He's a member of the board of directors at both The Advancement Project (a national civil rights organization) and Sankofa, a social justice organization founded by Harry Belafonte. The latter works to unite artists and grassroot partners to elevate the voices of the disenfranchised. Freedom is always coming in the hereafter. But, you know what, the hereafter is a hustle. We want it now,” Williams said, concluding as follows: We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people – out of sight and out of mind – while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil, black gold, ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strained fruit. The thing is though… the thing is that just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real. Beautiful stuff. Inspiring stuff. Watch the full speech below.
