Johnny Weir in New Memoir: I’m Gay

Figure skating champion Johnny Weir has revealed that he is gay. In his upcoming memoir, Welcome to My World , due out next week, Weir discusses his sexual orientation in a very straightforward manner. One excerpt: “In a sexual way, I’m gay, but I would marry a woman tomorrow if it struck me. I don’t think sex and relationships necessarily have to go together.” Johnny Weir makes his feelings abundantly clear . “With people killing themselves and being scared into the closet, I hope that even just one person can gain strength from my story,” Weir added . Johnny discusses getting called names in school, an affair he had with a male skater he only refers to as “Alex,” and why he didn’t come out earlier. “A lot of the gays got downright angry about my silence. But pressure is the last thing that would make me want to ‘join’ a community.’” he said.

Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson, Johnny Weir Open Up On ‘When I Was 17’

‘Twilight’ star recalls a particularly creative prank from his high school days. By MTV News staff Jackson Rathbone on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Jackson Rathbone was a notorious prankster. Keri Hilson was madly, blindly in love. Johnny Weir was a world-traveling ice-skating champion one day and a ridiculed high school outcast the next. Welcome to another episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” where you learn the inside scoop about your favorite celebs before they were celebs — those random, embarrassing, WTF memories that continue to haunt them even though they’ve become household names. When it comes to Rathbone’s teenage recollections , the emphasis is most definitely on W…T…F. He and his friends loved to pull pranks, and after their one pal took their prize dorm-room furnishing — a plastic goose — Rathbone took matters into his own hands. “To get him back, we asked the girl that he liked to write him a note saying to meet him at the beach at a certain time,” the “Twilight” franchise star revealed. “He goes down to the beach. We all jump out of the bushes, hogtie him, rip his shirt off, write ‘goose thief’ on his chest and make him walk to the dorm in his boxers, hands tied behind his back for all the world to see what a goose thief gets.” Weir often found himself the victim of ill-treatment from his high school classmates. “I was the awkward, skinny, smart, driven kid,” Weir said. “I was an honor-roll student. I spoke fluent French. I was a bit antisocial. I can’t say that I had a really booming social life. “I was traveling a lot while I was still attending public high school,” added the Olympian and former World Junior Figure Skating champion. “So I’d get back from all these beautiful, worldly experiences, and then I’d just be the kid that got made fun of because I was a lot smaller than everyone else.” And when Hilson was 17, well, she ended up suffering through her first broken heart. “My crew, we were like the good bad girls,” the “Knock You Down” singer explained. “We weren’t promiscuous. I had a boyfriend, but I wore a promise ring and I was still a virgin. I graduated with my V card — that’s what we used to call it. My then-boyfriend, I really, really liked him.” But then Hilson’s friend discovered that her boyfriend was cheating. “I really couldn’t believe it,” Hilson said. “I thought he really liked me. And he might have. But I wasn’t doing certain things, and maybe this girl was. I was heartbroken, maybe until I met the next one!” “When I Was 17” airs Saturdays at 11 a.m. on MTV. ‘Sex And The City 2’ Premiere Prompts Stars To Play ‘Which Character Are You?’

Whitney Port, Mario Cantone and others pick whether they identify most with Carrie or her friends. By Jocelyn Vena Whitney Port at the “Sex and the City 2” premiere Monday Photo: Andrew H. Walker/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Sure, the big debate on the red carpet of the “Sex and the City 2” premiere was all about Mr. Big vs. Aidan Shaw, but the stars who turned out to celebrate the flick were also eager to play a little round of “Which character are you?” with MTV News. While, Carrie Bradshaw was the popular choice, some others felt they were really a combination of all four of the women. “I think I relate to Carrie probably the most,” “The City” star Whitney Port told MTV News before the big premiere, which took place at Radio City. “Because I think career-wise [we have a lot in common], like the path that she took.” Mario Cantone may play Charlotte’s best gay friend Anthony in the series and movies, but he doesn’t see himself as a Charlotte. “It’d probably be Samantha, ’cause I’m a slut!” Figure skater Johnny Weir was hesitant to choose a character. “You know what? I’m a combination,” he said at first. “I’m very uptight at times like Charlotte. I’m dirty like Samantha, at times. But overall, I’d say I’m Carrie. I bring my clique of friends all together. I’m the center.” Leave it to talk-show personality Wendy Williams to articulate what makes her the perfect combination of all the ladies. “I totally am a reasonable combination of all of them,” she said. “Carrie is fun to watch, but I’m too frugal to be Carrie. She always lived way beyond her budget. That’s scary to me. Samantha is too loose to be older. … Miranda is, at times, too scared of men, and I’m not. And Charlotte is looking for the perfect man, and he doesn’t exist.” Which “Sex and the City” star do you relate to most? Tell us in the comments! Check out everything we’ve got on “Sex and the City 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Evan Lysacek Talks to Movieline About Dancing with the Stars and Johnny Weir’s Opinions

In 2010, an Olympic gold medal in figure skating qualifies you for two distinctions: 1) undisputed world champion; 2) salsa-dancing wannabe — at least in the eyes of Dancing with the Stars ‘s judging panel. Evan Lysacek may have cleaned up in Vancouver last February against ferocious competitors Johnny Weir and Russia’s hilarious Evgeni Plushenko , but he’s just as vulnerable to America’s vote on DWTS ‘s 10th season. Last week the 24-year-old athlete suffered a slight concussion when preparing to samba with partner Anna Trebunskaya, recovering enough to earn a score of 21, his lowest yet. Just yesterday, he triumphed with a perfect 30 during his Argentine Tango. It appears Lysacek is back in the game. Movieline caught up with the gold medalist last week to discuss Dancing with the Stars , transitioning into acting roles, and Johnny Weir’s pesky snipes.

Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir

“We are at war,” Johnny Weir said on Thursday. “My claws are out.” Weir, who is opening the season for Ice Theatre of New York at Chelsea Piers, added, “I have no respect for Evan Lysacek.” He is encouraging fans not to vote for his rival on Dancing with the Stars. When skating rivals Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir were battling for a spot on the Olympic podium at the Vancouver Winter Games in February, Weir remarked that showdown would be a great “catfight.” The dust-up intensified this week o

Johnny Weir Agrees "That’s So Gay" at Marriage Equality Fundraiser

It's very important that when you attend a political fundraiser, you gather at a place of incredible, filthy wealth. Which is how I found myself at the stunning Sowden House, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Hollywood. The event was for marriage equality, but I had only one thing on my mind: MEET JOHNNY WEIR. After about a half-hour of making conversation in a sea of botox, I looked up and saw something even more stunning than the house — a gazelle in low heels, black leggings, a blazer and a Tiffany shopping bag. Johnny. He was standing about ten feet away, surrounded by friends. His lawyer, who I knew slightly, was with him. So I snuck up next to his lawyer and begged, “Introduce me to Johnny.” He made a very nice introduction and then Johnny looked at me and said, “That's SO gay! That's SO gay!” Wow. Cloud nine. I wanted to make my time with him as efficient as possible, so I asked if he was in LA that often and could he come by Current sometime so we could do something together. “I'm in LA every so often. But you know me, girl, I'm everywhere.” I normally wouldn’t love someone calling me “girl,” but with Johnny, it felt right. So here's a pic of Johnny and me. I look like his lawyer-father in this picture. Which is fine. How can you look good next to all that beauty? If you couldn't make it — and let's face it, if everyone could come to these things they wouldn't be so special! — you can watch Johnny's delightful and smart speech on YouTube: Johnny might have been too polite to plug his show (until prompted repeatedly by his host), but I'm not! If somehow you haven't seen That's Gay: Johnny Weir, now's your chance: added by: bryan_safi
