Chick-fil-A Responds to Ed Helms Tweet, Gay Marriage Controversy

When it comes to its beef with actor Ed Helms, Chick-fil-A is not playing chicken. The company has issued an immediate response to The Office star’s recent Tweet, which took Chick-fil-A to task for its President admitting he is opposed to gay marriage. “The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender,” the statement reads. “We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.” This controversy erupted after Helms responded to Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy telling the press his company operated on “biblical principles” and, as a result of such a public stance, Chick-fil-A has lost him as a customer. The 78-year old actor, who was booked last night on charges of lewd conduct when police caught him with his pants down in a movie theater, has been let go as the voice of PBS’s Antique Rainbows spinoff, Market Warriors .

Katie Holmes Lines Up First Post-Divorce Role

Katie Holmes has lined up her first acting gig PTC. Post Tom Cruise . According to The New York Times , the actress will take on a role in a Broadway production of Dead Accounts , coming on board the play as a woman residing with her parents in Cincinnati and trying to get her life together. The comedy is penned by Smash creator Theresa Rebeck and stars a total of five characters. No word on the other actors yet. Holmes, who also appeared on Broadway in 2008, is expected to make her Great White Way return some time this fall. While she’s advancing her professional life, new reports claim Katie’s ex is working on his personal life; i.e. finding a new soulmate. You may be up, Yolanda Pecoraro !

In light of the actor’s divorce from Katie Holmes, and with many believing Scientology is to blame for the couple’s split, the National Enquirer quotes an expert on that religion who says Cruise will next marry somebody from within the church. Specifically, Yolanda Pecoraro ! The actress is a “Scientology princess, perfect for Tom,” according to a tabloid source , who adds that Pecoraro has been taking Scientology courses since she was 13 years old. Moreover, Yolanda admits she knows Cruise and is neither married nor engaged. Score! “With the embarrassment his divorce has caused the church, they want to stabilize the situation quickly,” the insider says, adding that Pecoraro and Cruise met in 2004 and the latter paid for the former to attend Scientology courses in Hollywood. Even if Cruise somehow does not select Pecoraro, few believe he won’t marry again. And no, Tom was not the driver. Nearly three weeks after filing for divorce from Tom Cruise, life in New York City isn’t without a few bumps in the road for Katie Holmes – literally. The Mercedes she was traveling in with daughter Suri, 6, was hit by a garbage truck Monday night, police confirm. No one was injured. The mother-daughter duo were leaving the Chelsea Piers recreational center – not far from their new Manhattan apartment – when a turning garbage truck rammed into their Mercedes, according to a source. “Suri was crying in the car,” says the source, who adds that Holmes, 33, was not driving. Once Holmes and her daughter were back home, a police report was filed. This is the second time their car has been hit in four days. Last Friday, a paparazzi car hit their vehicle as they were pulling home after a trip to the FAO Schwarz toy store. Through stealth activity, which included the use of burner cell phones , Katie Holmes plotted her divorce from Tom Cruise in secret and came out unscathed in the court of public opinion. Now, similarly, the actress has left the scene of a car accident without any significant injuries. Multiple outlets confirm that Holmes and six-year old daughter Suri were hit by a garbage truck last night while driving in the star’s Mercedes. No one was hurt, but a police report has been filed. “Suri was crying in the car,” says a People Magazine insider, who adds that Holmes was not driving the vehicle. Strangely enough, the crash marked the second time in four days that Holmes and Suri have been involved in an accident.
