A Lil’ Positivity: Kevin Durant Is Opening An Education Center To Help Low-Income Students Prepare For College

Source: Christian Petersen / Getty KD Opens Education Center To Help Low-Income Students Prepare For College According to Sports Illustrated , NBA Superstar Kevin Durant is using his platform in a major way, by opening an education center to help low-income students prepare for college. KD partnered with College Track organization to establish the Durant Center Prince George’s County, Maryland to help teens better their future by assisting them in obtaining a college degree. The center will be located in Durant’s hometown of Suitland, Maryland and will focus on providing lower-income students with the assistance needed to start and finish their college education. According to College Track’s website, their mission is to “empower students from underserved communities to graduate from college. By helping our students maximize the value of their college degree—minimize student loan debt, secure internships, and limit the need to work while in college—we prepare today’s youth to succeed in the 21st-century economy.” The initiative began last year after Durant donated approximately $10 million to start construction on the building and the project. The Durant Center will be accessible to all students in the Washington D.C. metropolitan and will be College Track’s first establishment on the East Coast.

Et Tu, Drayte? Draymond Green Suspended 1 Game For Calling Kevin Durant All Types Of “B!t¢#es”

Image via AAron Ontiveroz/The Denver Post via Getty Images Draymond Green Suspended For 1 Game For Cursing Out Kevin Durant “We supposed to be brothas!” goes the famous line in Menace II Society as a young man is being robbed at gunpoint for his Mustang and some fast food. Apparently, Draymond Green either didn’t see this film or didn’t take in the message, because Monday night in a game against the Clippers a mercurial Draymond was NOT treating Kevin Durant like his closest kin. He was treating him like a bi**h, or at least that what he was calling KD on the bench. A bi**h. A lot of ’em. And that was what happened ON the court. According to ESPN , here’s how it all started. Near the end of regulation, Draymond grabbed a rebound completely ignored a wide-open and hysterically clapping Kevin Durant who was calling for the ball in an attempt to win the game, and lost control of the ball before a shot could be taken. Both men were frustrated on the bench and Draymond unleashed one of his typical bratty tirades on KD. According to ESPN, things got even uglier back in the locker room after teammates chided Draymond for his poor decision. In defending himself, Draymond got loud and wrong. So loud and so wrong that people outside hear the commotion. Coach Steve Kerr did his best to tamp down the extent of the incident. “Draymond is always going to be who he is,” Kerr said. “Draymond is a powerful force. You guys know that. He’s a huge reason why we’ve had so much success here, and Draymond is going to continue playing the way he plays, and I don’t see him operating any other way.” Draymond is going to be who he is, abrasive, and KD is going to be who he is, sensitive and petty. These two might kiss and make up, but KD will not forget when it comes down to free agency this summer…

Let It Burn(er)? Did Usher Really Create A Fake Twitter Account Just To Defend His Mid-Life Crisis Album And Herpes?

Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Did Usher Create A Burner Account? Usher has had quite a rough couple of years. Of course, he’s been the center of a scandal over allegedly transmitting herpes to unsuspecting women, which hasn’t been great. Like any artist would, he’s tried to press on with new music to diffuse the situation but that didn’t work because his album was widely considered a weed plate . Damn. So what is a man to do to defend his piece of work? Well, according to the internet he creates a burner account that hops in everyone’s mentions defending it. Usher got a burner pic.twitter.com/PLDoOBpWt7 — Lonnie Walker FanAcc (@FreeeJared) October 18, 2018 Twitter sleuths were quick to point out that this account was tweeting defenses of the album and herpes (!!!). They deducted that it had to be Usher pulling a Kevin Durant to try to get people off his back. Usher’s camp, to their defense, has vehemently denied that the now-deleted account is in any way tied to the singer, but Twitter is not convinced. Take a look…

James Harden Makes History, Goes Home With His First NBA MVP Award

Source: Tim Warner / Getty Rockets star  James Harden  is officially the NBA’s 2017-18 MVP. His spot at the top has felt like the general consensus among fans for a while now, but it didn’t become cemented until Harden was announced as the MVP during the  NBA Awards  on Monday night. This is the point guard’s first MVP award, despite finishing second twice in his career before. Beyond that, his win marked a first in NBA history. Harden’s former Thunder teammate,  Russell Westbrook , was the NBA MVP winner in the 2016-17 season, while his other former teammate,  Kevin Durant , won MVP for the 2013-14 season. All three players were drafted by the Thunder in consecutive seasons — which makes the first time three different players drafted by a franchise in consecutive years have been named MVP. After believing he should have won Most Valuable Player last year but coming away empty-handed, Harden chose not to prepare a speech this time– So when the  Rockets  star finished off an amazing season by walking away with the game’s top individual honor, he was most definitely flabbergasted. He goes on to deliver a speech, honoring his mother whom he calls his, “backbone.” “She's my backbone..” @JHarden13 thanks his mom for being there every step of the way as he accepts the #KiaMVP award! #ThisIsWhyWePlay #NBAAwards pic.twitter.com/Zw8Yd7whT9 — NBA (@NBA) June 26, 2018 James Harden was the league’s scoring champ, averaging 30.4 points while leading the Rockets to a franchise-record 65 victories. He was the fourth player to average at least 30 points per game and help lead his team to 65 wins, joining the likes of Stephen Curry ,  Michael Jordan  (twice) and  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar . Source: Jason Miller / Getty Kevin Durant Says He Can See Himself Retiring from Basketball at 35 Even though he won his second Finals MVP last week, Warriors star Kevin Durant told ESPN on Monday that he could see himself retiring from the game of basketball at age 35, about five years from now. “This game, your craft, you have to continue studying it,” said Durant. “No matter how much you enjoy it, nobody wants to be in school that long. I know I don’t. At some point, you have to be ready to graduate. Thirty-five, that’s just a number in my mind.” “I heard him say that, but I’ll believe it when it happens,” says Rich Kleiman, his business partner. Durant currently has 20,913 career points and is on pace to challenge Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all time regular season scoring record of 38,387. However, Durant claims that the record is not on his mind. “Because it’s not about the record,” Durant said Friday. “I can leave the game knowing I did everything I wanted to do, my way, on my terms. That’s how I want to leave the game. And if I happen to have all these accolades and these accomplishments, then that’s cool. If not, I’m still cool.”

And I just felt like it was tomb raiding, in regards to Pac,” said Jada. “I feel like we as black people, we have got to protect those individuals that we say are important to us, to our history and to our culture. We can not expect other people to do that if we’re not willing to do that ourselves. Pac is precious to us.” “If you really feel like you did right by Pac, then congratulations,” Pinkett Smith added almost admonishingly. “But if you didn’t, really sit with that. Cause I hope next time if you get an opportunity to make another movie about a legend you’ll do a different thing.” Y I K E S. Can you really be mad at Jada for wanting to protect the legacy of one of her close friends??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_YXqiQImDs&list=PLfdQ88ZUfipaEBgQpZxt0Pd-Tb4xL8WFx&index=1 More on the flip. https://www.instagram.com/p/BWdgAzzAhTO/?taken-by=v103atlanta Jada later explained to V-103’s Big Tigger why speaking on the film brought her to tears. “Because I can’t kick somebody’s a** or throw a table,” said Jada. “All I can do is cry…I get really angry.” But with that, Pinkett Smith added; “I have decided that I will start sharing more, especially since that movie came out. Because I was like, ‘if they only really knew… we adored each other. It was really about survival between us. “When people hold you down when you really need to be held down, you just never forget that.”
