Stoney Westmoreland: Andi Mack Star Arrested for Soliciting 13-Year-Old for Sex

Stoney Westmoreland has appeared on multiple shows, from Scandal to NCIS . These days, he appears on the tween Disney drama, Andi Mack . At least, he did. He has now been fired. On Friday, he was arrested for trying to have sex with a 13-year-old child. Stoney Westmoreland is best known for his role as Henry “Ham” Mack on Andi Mack , the grandfather of the titular character. Unfortunately, it appears that the man himself is considerably less wholesome than the show on which he was a star. On Friday, he was arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah — the city where Andi Mack films. 48-year-old Westmoreland had allegedly contacted a person whom he believed to be a 13-year-old. He reportedly made contact through the use of an app Court documents describe the app as one specifically “used for dating and meeting people for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.” He had apparently also sent pornographic images to the very young teen, and attempted to solicit nudes from the 13-year-old. Westmoreland has been charged with five third-degree felonies. His charges are four counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor and one count of enticing a minor by Internet or text. “Materials harmful to a minor” is a reference to having sent lewd materials in an effort to excited and seduce the minor. The charge of enticing is pretty vital, as without it, sexual predators who are caught before attacking their intended victims could weasel out of trouble. All in all, these charges are pretty sickening. We assume the the police have solid evidence in this case. Either way, it looks like Westmoreland’s career as a Disney star is over. Disney almost immediately announced that Westmoreland had been fired, People confirms. “Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,’ was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” Disney announced. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors,” the statement says. Disney continues: “We have released him from his recurring role. “And,” Disney concludes. “He will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.” Andi Mack is a widely celebrated series about adolescence and family. The show rose to fame — and began winning awards coupled with a hefty ratings surge — after one storyline in paticular. Cyrus Goodman is a character played by Joshua Rush, seen in blue holding up the award. Cyrus’ famous coming out storyline really put the series on the map. For Disney to have a show that tells such an important story for the audience that needs it most — tweens — is truly promising. Middle school-aged LGBTQ+ kids, and also their classmates and peers, need to see these stories play out to have a point of reference. It is absolutely heartbreaking that such an inspirational television program has to deal with the PR nightmare from Westmoreland’s inexcusable actions. We don’t know how strong the case against this alleged creep may be. The only good thing that we can say about this is that some of the language in reports makes it sound like he was never in actual contact with a real 13-year-old. No middle schooler needs to be chatting with a 48-year-old man, let alone discussing or planning a sexual encounter with him. This will be a pain for writers — to write him off the series. He was, after all, Andi Mack’s grandfather (whom she had long believed to be her father — long story). But writing a character off of a show is a small thing beside the enormity of the harm that sexual predators can do. View Slideshow: 21 Celebrities You Probably Want to Keep Away From Your Children

Miss USA Just Embarrassed Her Country (VIDEO)

You won't believe this… … but we have a new beauty pageant controversy. In viral footage featured here, Sarah Rose Summers — the 24-year old Nebraska native who won Miss USA in May — is seen calling attention to fellow Miss Universe contestants Miss Cambodia (Rern Sinat) and Miss Vietnam (H'Hen Nie). “What do you think of Miss Vietnam Nie?” Summers asks the women in the video. “She's so cute and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes [nods and smiles],” Summers said prior to laughing. “She's adorable.” After Miss Colombia asks her “how?” Summers does the imitation again. Then, in another clip, Summers takes aim at Miss Cambodia for not also speaking English. “Miss Cambodia is here and doesn't speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language. Can you imagine?” she asks, adding: “Francesca said that would be so isolating and I said yes and just confusing all the time.” Summer does come across a little more sympathetic here, but it's a pretty terrible look all around to be SO dumbfounded that non-U.S. citizens don't speak English. In response to the immediate backlash over this video, Summers said on Instagram just now: “In a moment where I intended to admire the courage of a few of my sisters, I said something that I now realize can be perceived as not respectful, and I apologize.” She added that she would be “grateful” for an opportunity to discuss the issue with Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam. Check out the controversial video on this page and decide: Was Summers in the wrong?

A New Traveling Exhibit Highlights Thomas Jefferson’s Legacy Of Slavery

“To survive with little nutrition, to make it across dangerous waters, to survive the peril of being in boats with other black people that they did not know nor speak their language…It’s an amazing story when you think about it” — Bishop T.D. Jakes DALLAS — Bishop T.D. Jakes paused briefly to reflect on long ago autumns  while viewing a poignant exhibit about Thomas Jefferson and slavery inside the African American Museum of Dallas. Jakes, the influential Pastor of The Potter’s House, walked through a powerful three-gallery exhibition that featured detailed accounts of how enslaved Africans labored on Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia plantation, Monticello, some 200 years ago. “As an African-American I think it’s really difficult for you not to be passionate about this,” Jakes said during an interview inside the museum. “But even as an American in general I think it is a part of our history that gets swept up under the rug and yet it has so much to do with the current dilemmas that we face today and it has all the world to do with any solutions that are derived for us to be more harmonious as a people in this country.” Jakes is the honorary co-chair of a new traveling exhibit, “Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty,” which will run from Sept. 22 to Dec. 21 at the African American Museum of Dallas. The exhibition tells the story of slavery at Monticello, Jefferson’s 5000-acre plantation, from the perspective of Africans who Jefferson enslaved. More than 300 artifacts, works of art and documents representing Jefferson’s legacy of slavery be on display. Dallas is the first city to host the exhibit that will feature additional objects that have never left Monticello. Other stops for the exhibit include Detroit, Richmond and then the West Coast in 2019. ( Photo : African American Museum of Dallas ) “You know, it’s interesting, as I was walking around museum, reading some of the quotes that were attributed to Jefferson, the conflict that he had while being an advocate for emancipation on one hand yet he was a slave owner on the other,” Jakes said. “I think that conflict is indicative of where we find ourselves today as a people that many people in this country have not resolved their own inner turmoil about how they see the assimilation of other cultures into our society, what role they should be, and the tug and pull between those two issues.” Gayle Jessup White knows something about inner turmoil, too, because she is still processing a complex past: Her African ancestors – men, women and children — were enslaved by Thomas Jefferson. Jessup White, community engagement officer for Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and a descendant of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, helped facilitate the exhibit opening in Dallas. “This is a story about my family,” Jessup White said last week. “And this exhibit humanizes people. You will see tools that were used by enslaved people, people who were cast aide, people who were left behind, but these people were the backbone of America.” Jessup White is an integral part of Monticello’s African American experience: DNA tests have proved that Sally Hemings was White’s great-great-great-great aunt. More than 80 members of the Hemings family lived in slavery at Monticello over five generations. “In this exhibit, you will see the stories of six families who lived and worked in slavery at Monticello, we know of these families because Thomas Jefferson took such copious notes,” she said.   Sally Hemings is considered one of the most important African-American women in history. At just 16 years old and a slave, Hemings negotiated with one of the most powerful men in the nation, ensuring she would receive “extraordinary privileges” and achieve freedom for her children. Jefferson, the author of The Declaration of Independence and America’s third President, fathered at least six children with Hemings. “We’ve given back to Sally Hemings her humanity,” White said. “The objective of this exhibition is a bit different —we want visitors to understand Sally Hemings as a person through her family roles as a mother, daughter and sister. We’re not just talking about Thomas Jefferson and his family, we’re talking about the enslaved people and their families, too.” “This is an American story because these enslaved people helped shape America,” Jessup White added. “This exhibit is a big deal: There is lots to see, lots to take in, and lots to learn.” Jakes said the legacy of slavery is complex — but well worth exploring. “I think it’s important that we own the fact that our founding fathers were flawed in that way and it helps us to better understand the potentials and possibilities of the recurrence of that in contemporary society,” Jakes said. “I think it’s just a very important look at where we came from. Dr. Harry Robinson, President and CEO of Dallas’ African American Museum, said the Monticello exhibit is important and distinctive. “This is information that children won’t get in textbooks,” Robinson said. “This exhibit tells about slavery from the enslaved people’s point of view – and that’s a new perspective. This is their story.” Robinson added that residents of Dallas – Black and white – can benefit from the exhibit. “Dallas is sometimes considered a cultural outpost and when we established this museum, we were trying to fill the void,” Robinson said. “This exhibition will help us bring about discussions of [racial] issues that we have been dodging for some time.” Meanwhile, Jakes said America must come to grips with slavery to effectively confront contemporary racial issues. “If this country is going to live out its highest ideals,” Jakes said, “were going to have to be very intentional in listening, and learning, and not muting the voice of the person who cries out in the night and says I have been oppressed.” PHOTO : (Museum) Joseph G. His long teased project has finally been unveiled. On the heels of  Slime Language , which was released last month, Thugger drops the aptly titled  On The RVN . The EP is only six tracks deep but does pack some interesting artist collaborations. As Rap-Up noted Jeffery links with Jaden Smith on the previously released “Sin”. On “High” he brings Sir Elton John to the fold with a sample of the icon’s “Rocket Man”. Originally announced in September 2017,  On The RVN is being billed as his “most vulnerable project to date”. This might ring true as the “Best Friend” rapper is currently facing some heavy prison time. Last fall during a traffic stop in Atlanta he was caught with a medley of drugs including hydrocodone, marijuana and codeine. Additionally police also found an unregistered firearm in the vehicle. Thug has since been charged with eight felony charges. He now awaits trial. You can listen to  On The RVN below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. Photo: WENN.com

Carole Radziwill Doubles Down: Bethenny Frankel is a Bully!

In real life, Bethenny Frankel is mourning Dennis Shields , both in private and in public. On the The Real Housewives of New York City reunion , however, she’s been facing off against her frenemies. Carole Radziwill accused her of bullying her now that they’re no longer friends. Some RHONY fans took issue with her accusation, and Carole took to Twitter to defend herself. Who is right? Towards the end of The Real Housewives of New York City Season 10, Episode 21 , ex-friends Bethenny and Carole did a postmortem on how their friendship ended. “What she does is, she creates this narrative, this false narrative about me,” Carole accused. “This false narrative that I’m some girl who’s this, this and this.” “It’s completely false,” Carole said as she aired her grievances. “Half of it is lies.” When Bethenny interrupted, Carole said: “Are you going to continue to bully me, or am I going to be able to speak?” Multiple times, Carole doubled down on her accusation that Bethenny is a bully who has been bullying her. “Let’s stop using the word bully,” tweeted a fan. “These women are getting paid a lot more of money to be on this show. It’s a choice.” The fan points out that, in contrast: “When children are getting bullied in schools or People for being different are harassed. That’s bullying.” Carole replied … and shared that she disagreed. “I get your point but don’t belittle what is happening here,” Carole wrote in her tweet. “[Obviously] I can handle it but kids need to know…..mocking someone and talking over a person is an intimidation technique. I.e. Bullying 101.” “If they learn to stand up against that,” Carole wrote. “The bully won’t be quick to escalate it.” But fans weren’t letting Carole off of the hook. “You need to think carefully about the word bully,” a fan tweeted. “You haven’t been bullied at all. You both don’t like each other. You both said hurtful things. Move on.” The fan cautioned Carole: “Don’t undermine others that have had their lives ruined by bullying by saying what has happend with you and Bethenny is bullying.” “No I disagree,” Carole wrote. “We need to call out even the smallest infractions as bullying. Only this way we can change the dynamic.” Carole continued: “Just like the # metoo  movement is calling out ALL inappropriate actions. Men will pause next time they reach for a girls shoulders to rub. Change happens slowly.” Fans remained unconvinced, and continued to try to explain to Carole that bullying refers to a specific dynamic between perpetrator and victim. “So where’s the power differential in this situation?” tweeted a fan. “Where’s the intimidation? Where’s the fear? Where’s the helplessness?” Carole is a rich white woman who is related to royalty. Her potential pool for who could conceivably bully her is pretty narrow. “She has a choice,” wrote another fan. “Bullied people don’t have a choice. It was an argument between two friends that aren’t getting along right now.” This is a very complicated topic. A lot of terms — especially buzzwords — get thrown around and then misused until they’re all but meaningless. Most people would look at two former friends who are no longer again and say that they are feuding. One says cruel things about the other? That’s feuding. In contrast, the only Muslim kid at a middle school isn’t “feuding” with some mean kids on his bus. A gay child isn’t “feuding” with the classmates who tell him to hang himself. At the same time, is the definition of bullying as narrow as these fans suggest? Perhaps there are different types of bullying. Language is complicated, and both the literal meanings of words and the connotations of those words can evolve over time.
