Miley Cyrus’ Manager on VMA Performance: Epic WIN!

Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance Sunday night was troubling and/or offensive – Dr. Laura slammed her as a tasteless, disgusting whore – by many people. Her manager is not one of those people. Miley Cyrus Team: Concerned Over VMA Performance Larry Rudolph said of Miley Cyrus Twerking and writhing all over the stage, “It could not have gone better. The fans got it. The rest eventually will.” Wait … Miley still has fans after that? Rudolph, who is also Britney Spears’ manager, said that Cyrus’ family and friends, including mom Tish “were all cheering from the side of the stage.” He refutes reports that her team is “concerned” (see above) and echoed Miley’s refrain that it got the fans buzzing – A LOT – exactly as she’d hoped. As for who came up with that memorable – for better or worse – performance that still has fans buzzing five days later? All Miles, her manager says: “Most it came from Miley’s brain. But she collaborated with [music video director] Diane Martel, who helped her conceive it and bring in the spirit of the VMAs.” “And Todd James designed all of those amazing bears .” Amazing is one way of putting it. Miley at the VMAs :   So great! So terrible! What… was … THAT?!? View Poll »

Britney Spears’ MTV Special Is ‘For The Fans,’ Manager Says

‘I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever,’ Larry Rudolph tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs “Till the World Ends” at Rain Nightclub in the Palms Las Vegas Photo: Roderick Trestrail Britney Spears gives fans an inside look at her life and the making of her latest album in the MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” MTV News has of course been tracking the release of her record, which finally dropped on Tuesday, but we were also on hand as she performed in Las Vegas at the Palms’ Rain nightclub. Fans will get to see the show — and much more — for themselves when the special airs on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. When we spoke to Spears’ longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, in Vegas, he told us Brit wanted to put on a spectacle for her fans. She wanted to take her first Femme Fatale live performance to Vegas because much like the city, Spears’ concerts have lots of sparkle, pyro and razzmatazz, he explained. “We chose this place; we chose the Palms because the Palms is where Britney has so much history,” he said. “We performed here with the Britney album, we did a similar thing. We’re doing this eight years later now and we’re doing it for the fans.” Rudolph stressed that Spears has one main goal: to entertain her fans in the Femme Fatale era. “For her, it was really important to do it for the fans the first time she was out there,” he explained. “To do it here in Las Vegas, where everything is bigger and everything is more exciting and the fans are here for her, this was the place to do it. “I want them to know — when the fans watch this — I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever, not that she’s ever gone anywhere,” he continued. “But she’s back and she’s better than ever.” Don’t miss “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Britney Spears Makes Your Body Pop On Femme Fatale Teaser

Producer Dr. Luke gives fans a snippet of ‘How I Roll’ from Brit’s March 29 album. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Photo: Jive Judging by the snippets we’ve heard from Femme Fatale, Britney Spears is ready to dance. Late Wednesday night, Spears’ producer Dr. Luke tweeted out another tease for the track “How I Roll.” “I just might be feeling like giving u another snippet ….. maybe,” Luke wrote. “Should it be a [producers] bloodshy and avant song??? something like that,” he added before sending a link to the song. The teaser opens with Britney cooing “ooh ahh” as beats and synths kick in. Those are jumbled with handclaps before Spears begins singing lines like, “Show your knee socks/ With tequila on the rocks/ Till you make your body pop/ To the speakers.” “In my opinion, this is her strongest album ever. It’s somewhat of a departure from what she’s done. It’s more mature,” manager Larry Rudolph told MTV News about Femme Fatale, which he even likened to a Madonna classic. “It’s more of a dance record. … This really is Britney’s Ray of Light album.” Spears herself has hinted that the album will have fans dancing. “I would describe it as moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy. I co-wrote a couple of songs. I think it’s some of the best work I have ever done. There are a few mid-tempos that could be considered ballads,” Spears said during a Twitter Q&A this month. “I have a lot of history with #MaxMartin and @TheDoctorLuke so it’s always fun to collaborate with them,” she continued. “They make such incredible music. I’m so excited and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. I think its some of the best work I have ever done!” What do you think of what you’ve heard so far from “How I Roll”? Tell us in the comments! Lady Gaga Tweets Lyric To Next Single, ‘Judas’

Second Born This Way single is a ‘very, very dark song,’ Gaga says. By Kyle Anderson Lady Gaga Photo: Kristian Dowling/ Getty Images The title track (and first single) from Lady Gaga’s upcoming album Born This Way is still laying waste to sales records, but the singer is already contemplating the album’s second showpiece. On Monday, just before she took the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden , where she was taping an HBO concert special, Gaga tweeted a lyric from “Judas,” which she already confirmed will be the second single from Born This Way. “I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas, baby,” Gaga wrote on Twitter . During a conversation with Carson Daly on his radio show last week, Gaga described the song as a much darker entry than “Born This Way.” “It’s about always falling in love with the wrong man over and over again,” she explained to Daly. ” ‘Judas’ is a very, very dark song. It’s rad.” Rolling Stone recently got to hear six tracks from Born This Way , including “Judas.” ” ‘Judas’ is a classic Lady Gaga pop banger with three huge hooks, a thumping house music breakdown and a vocal part that borrows a bit of Rihanna’s distinctive cadence,” wrote Rolling Stone ‘s Matthew Perpetua . Gaga just kicked off the latest leg of the Monster Ball Tour, which saw her open in Atlantic City before tearing into the first of two Madison Square Garden shows (the second, which will also be taped for the HBO special, is Tuesday night). There is no release date set for “Judas” yet, but Born This Way is scheduled to be dropped on May 23 and the video for “Born This Way” should be appearing soon — at least according to another Gaga tweet. “Just finished editing Born This Way video!” she wrote shortly after tweeting the “Judas” lyric. “Announcement Soon!” Related Photos Lady Gaga’s Madison Square Garden Performance Related Artists Lady Gaga

Britney Spears Teases Femme Fatale’s ‘I Wanna Go’

Spears tweets link to song clip, produced by Max Martin and Shellback. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images As fans get closer to the March 29 release of Britney Spears’ latest album, Femme Fatale , more teasers of tracks off the Dr. Luke/Max Martin executive-produced album are hitting the Web. On Tuesday (February 22), Spears tweeted a link to a 29-second clip of “I Wanna Go,” calling Martin “amazing.” The song kicks off with a thumping beat, as the melody plays lightly over it. Brit’s staccato vocals — “I wanna go-o-o all the way-ay-ay” — enter as the teaser fades out. The song was co-produced and written by Shellback, who recently worked with Spears on “If U Seek Amy” and “3.” He also hooked up with Usher for “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” Robyn on “Time Machine” and Avril Lavigne for “What The Hell.” Thus far, all the tracks Spears has revealed in anticipation of the release of Femme Fatale have been club bangers. Last week, she released the dark, sleek video for her lead single, “Hold It Against Me,” and days later, she teased her next single, “Inside Out.” “In my opinion, this is her strongest album ever,” her manager, Larry Rudolph, told MTV News about the March 29 release. “It’s somewhat of a departure from what she’s done. It’s more mature. It’s more of a dance record.” Are you looking forward to the release of Femme Fatale ? Tell us below!
