We’ve got to hand it to Tekashi 69. Many celebrities have been imprisoned over the years, but very few have managed to remain this relevant while serving their sentences. Of course, that relevance is likely to get Tekashi stabbed the second he walks out of protective custody, but hey — bad press is better than no press, right? Actually, whoever came up with that saying probably would have agreed to the addendum “unless that bad press is likely to get you straight-up murdered.” Anyway, as you’ve probably heard, Tekashi recently took the stand and testified against two members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. As their name indicates, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods are not a group that you want to piss off, but Tekashi — real name, Daniel Hernandez — likely felt that he had little choice. When Hernandez was arrested for a laundry list of crimes last year, it initially looked as though he might remain behind bars for the rest of his life. But thanks to his testimony — which led to the convictions of Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack — Mr. 69 could be a free man as early as next month. When he first started snitching, it was widely assumed that Tekashi would enter witness protection upon his release. Now, however, it seems the rapper has no intention of disappearing. In fact, he’s reportedly planning on becoming more famous than ever. According to TMZ, Tekashi has already sold the movie rights for his tory to fellow hip hop artist 50 Cent. And that’s not the only wheeling and dealing Hernandez did from his cell this week. Multiple outlets have now confirmed that Tekashi has signed a deal with his old record label, 10K Projects, that’s reportedly worth more $10 million. While the exact terms of the agreement are under wraps, insiders claim the 69 has promised several projects to the label and plans to get to work immediately upon his release. Obviously, the guy has a lot to celebrate these days. But he has also many reasons to be fearful. Even if he’s safe from violent retaliation, as he clearly believes, Tekashi’s career might be over as a result of his decision to turn state’s witness. After all, credibility is king in the world of hip hop, and it seems unlikely that the record-buying public will rush to embrace a known snitch.

The actress, writer, and producer nearly missed out on being nominated for an Emmy almost a decade ago for her work on The Office . This is because The Academy–which runs the awards show–reportedly tried to cut her from the list of the show’s producers, Kaling told Elle . Not only was Minday one of the stars of the hit NBC series, which ended in 2013, she was also one of the writers and a co-producer. During this time, s he was also the only woman of color among the producers listed in Emmy contention, which is what led to her being singled out. According to Kaling, The Academy told her there were too many producers listed when the show was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. “They made me, not any of the other producers, fill out a whole form and write an essay about all my contributions as a writer and a producer,” she revealed. “I had to get letters from all the other male, white producers saying that I had contributed, when my actual record stood for itself.” After these revelations made headlines, an Academy spokesperson denied her claims, saying the following: “No one person was singled out. There was an increasing concern years ago regarding the number of performers and writers seeking producer credits,” according to a statement to CNN and other news outlets . “At the time the Producers Guild worked with the Television Academy to correctly vet producer eligibility. Every performer producer and writer producer was asked to justify their producer credits. Folks, the Ronnie Magro-Jen Harley situation is getting uglier by the day. Earlier this week, we speculated that the latest allegations might result in Ronnie being fired from Jersey Shore — now, it looks as though they could mean the end of the entire franchise. As you’ve probably heard by now, Magro was tased and arrested earlier this week after allegedly attacking Harley and threatening her with a knife inside the Los Angeles Airbnb where the couple was staying. The severity of the incident was immediately apparent from the police reports. And in case there was any doubt, photos of Harley’s injuries — taken while she was eating at a restaurant with her daughter just two days after the incident — served to underscore the extent of the violence she had endured. It’s hard to imagine anyone reacting to the bruises and scrapes on Jen’s limbs with anything other than sympathy for the victim and disgust for her assailant. But apparently, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is still firmly on Team Ronnie, and she made her feelings abundantly clear while speaking with Mike Sorrentino on her podcast this week: “I feel like she went out intentionally to get a photo of her,” she told Sorrentino. “You don’t have to be wearing a tank top, showing your bruises and the bruise on your leg. She’s wearing booty shorts to show it off.” Yeah, that’s pretty awful. And unfortunately, Polizzi went on from there: “You can go out with your daughter and have lunch, but cover those up so it’s not a thing,” she continued. “She wants it to be a thing. She wants to show off her bruises.” Look, we don’t need to tell you that Jen’s no angel, but surely she deserves more compassion and respect than Snooki is demonstrating here. What is Polizzi suggesting, exactly? That Jen should cover up her bruises for Ronnie’s benefit? That’s some victim-shaming bullsh-t, and while we might have expected as much from 2009 Snooki, our standards for 2019 Snooki are much higher. “We don’t know how she got the bruises,” Snooki added, implicitly expressing her skepticism of Jen’s abuse claims. Sorrentino, who was released from prison just last month, was far more thoughtful in his remarks: “He’s not answering texts. I’ve been texting him for days,” Mike said of his efforts to get in touch with Ronnie. “I told him wake the f**k up and call me. He didn’t answer back. I went with a softer approach. He didn’t answer either.” Mike added: “I pray for him, Jen, the baby. His future.” Earlier this year, Ronnie revealed that he got sober with Sorrentino’s help , but it appears he’s since fallen off the wagon.
