Taylor Swift appeared on stage for the first and, presumably, only time in 2016 this past weekend. The beloved solo artist performed a number of songs in front of nearly 100,000 fans in Austin , making major headlines for covering the Calvin Harris hit “This is What You Came For.” Why? Because Swift and Harris used to date. For real! It’s true! You can go scroll around The Hollywood Gossip to see how the relationship ended. (SPOILER ALERT: Not well .) But it turns out that Swift throwing a bit of shade in the direction of her ex-boyfriend may not have been the most important development from her show last Saturday. Instead, the focus has turned from the words that came out of Swift’s mouth to the accessory that adorned her neck. See… as noted on Twitter, Swift was wearing a special kind of necklace while singing at the U.S. Grand Prix. “Taylor is wearing a choker as part of her outfit!” Tweeted one user, noticing the choker all the way from New Zealand. Victoria Willis went ahead and riffed on a well-known Mean Girls quote, writing: “One time I saw @taylorswift13 wearing a choker so I bought a choker.” Funny. But seriously: Why did this accessory create such huge minor pandemonium? This is why: “She usually changes her fashion every time she releases her music, and she’s never worn [a choker] before,” Swiftsjai wrote on Twitter, adding: “Every album means a new Taylor Swift ‘era,’ and the 1989 era has just finished and a new one is hopefully about to start!” And it seems to be true: While T. Swift has rocked a choker in a number of street-style photos, this does appear to be the first time she’s done so on stage. So that settles it, right?!? Swift is coming out with a new album soon?!? We can’t say for certain, but this isn’t the first time chatter over a new Swift album has circulated around the Internet in mid-to-late 2016. Moreover, she has broken up with both Harris and Tom Hiddleston this year, giving her more ammunition material than ever before for new music. With two months to go in the calendar year, we may very well be treated to a brand new Taylor Swift album any day now. An anxious world awaits.
Kendall Kohler is a dedicated Louisville Cardinals fan. At least when she remembers to actually cheer for the Louisville Cardinals, that is. See, Kendall is only four years old. And it can be hard to keep track of team names and colors sometimes, especially when so many players are on the same football field at once. So it’s understandable that Kendall recently made a pretty major mistake, cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats by mistake when they played the Cardinals. Little Girls Cheer for Wrong Team, Falls Apart Understandable to us, that is. To Kendall? It was a life-altering, tear-inducing faux pas that left her a pool of emotions in her father’s arms. “I actually cheered on the Cats on accident!” a distraught Kendall told her father, Scotty, whose efforts to console his child go to waste in the above video. “She accidentally said ‘Go Kentucky’ during whatever game it was that they was playing in her room,” Kohler told Buzzfeed News of the incident, adding that Kendall wasn’t even watching football when this happened. Scotty told his wife to record the moment because he “wanted to have this video for her when she got older.” “I was the only one who understood what she said [at first] and I understood how trivial it was and that it definitely was nothing to be that upset about. “That was the comical aspect of it,” he explained. The video we’ve shared above didn’t take long to go viral, with many users feeling horrible for the distraught toddler. So it looks like Kendall has accomplished something extremely rare here: She has brought the Internet together in a show of compassion. She may have done it “on accident,” but she still ought to be proud.
Rihanna Talks Style, Self-Respect Well this is…interesting. Rihanna, known for baring it all and setting it out for the ‘gram, seems to be changing her tune a bit on style and self-respect. The pop songstress has been covering up much more lately…we haven’t seen many nearly-nude looks from the Bajan Bad Gal lately. Could she be doing a complete overhaul? While talking about her upcoming film “Home” on an Australian press appearance , her style evolution came up: “I feel like my image evolves as I evolve as a woman. With growth, there’s change. My style is a reflection of my mood, my attitude wherever I am at, and you can see how it’s evolved since the beginning of my career just from my videos. And style is a huge part of that attitude.” She went on to mention that the respect that women receive from men is directly tied to the respect they show themselves: “The more we respect ourselves the more men will respect us. I have both sides to me and I think most women do. We are strong but we are very vulnerable as well.” Which is also why she loved the character she voices in the film so much: “And also, Tip is so bold. And the way she dresses and how she wears her hair is not perfect and I feel like little girls should feel comfortable being that way, being strong and being themselves.” Of course, Rih does whatever she wants to do whenever she feels like doing it — and wants little girls to feel just as bold.
