WATCH: The Mandarin Isn’t Talking Funny Anymore

There’s yet another Iron Man 3 TV spot making the rounds, and, like the international TV spot I wrote about on Monday, it leaves the distinct impression that Ben Kingsley has dialed back the affected voice he was using in his portrayal of the Mandarin . How Kingsley Dialed Back The Mandarin’s Vocal Acrobatics In this clip, Kingsley, in voiceover, uses his signature line, “You’ll never see me coming,” but this time he doesn’t lead-foot the l’s and r’s.  Instead, he breaks up the sentence with dramatic pauses, so he sounds appropriately dangerous as opposed to dangerous and destined to be a recurring Saturday Night Live character.  Check out the second clip for Kingsley’s original reading of the line. A Disney spokeswoman still hasn’t gotten back to me on whether a conscious decision was made to change the downplay the Mandarin’s vocal acrobatics. If that ever happens, I’ll update. Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige Plays Superhero Shrink For Tony Stark:  In other Iron Man 3 news, Marvel Studios Production President Kevin Feige plays superhero shrink in an “Under The Armor” interview at Marvel.com and sheds some light on Tony Stark’s mindset going into the movie.  Noting that this latest installment in the Iron Man saga takes place after the events of The Avengers Feige says: “Not only did he encounter all of those crazy characters with hammers and capes and shields and gamma-irradiated strength, but a portal to another world opened above his head. Tony Stark is a very scientifically minded guy who thought he was at the cutting edge of science, and suddenly learned in those brief moments at the end of “Marvel’s The Avengers,” that there is an infinite amount that he doesn’t know. I think that made him feel small in a certain way and I think even encountering those other super heroes in “Marvel’s The Avengers” made him feel like he was not the most powerful person in the world, which I think Tony likes to feel like he is. He may be the smartest person in the world, but not necessarily the most powerful. So when we meet him at the beginning of “Iron Man 3,” he’s using the suit as a shell almost. It is a shell to shield himself from all of this new information, this new influx of reality that is crashing around him. At the same time, as tends to happen in good movies, another villain arises. And suddenly, when he’s sort of at a state where he’d much rather stay in his lab and work on his suits, something happens that forces him to get out of his house, to get out of his lab and even in some cases, get out of the suit, to confront this new evil.” More on Iron Man 3 & the Mandarin:  WATCH: Pepper Dons Armor & The Mandarin Sheds Weird Dialect In International ‘Iron Man 3’ Clip Marvel Studios Says Iron Man 3 Villain The Mandarin Isn’t Chinese, He’s International ‘Iron Man 3’ Director Spills On The Mandarin & He Sounds Like….Mike Ovitz? Justin Bieber: NOT Booted from Paris Hotel!

Justin Bieber may be melting down . But he isn’t getting kicked out. After the singer left the famous Hotel Le Meurice in Paris today and checked in to the Mandarin Oriental, word started to surface that he was given the boot due to unruly requests and behavior. TV and radio personality Jean-Marc Morandini blogged that Bieber’s “attitude” was to blame for the eviction, as he supposedly booked seven suites across two floors for himself and his entourage. But while that last point may be true, the singer’s rep tell Us Weekly that an overrun of Beliebers led to security concerns and that it was led to the change: ” Justin was not kicked out of the hotel. He decided to transfer to the Mandarin Oriental when there wasn’t enough security at the hotel to control the crowds. There wasn’t even an underground entrance for him at the other hotel and the security was too lax given the size of the crowds.” A spokesperson for Hotel Le Meurice confirms that Bieber left the premises by choice. The superstar will perform tomorrow night a tPalais Omnisports in Paris-Bercy as part of his Believe world tour. Visit our Justin Bieber videos section for a look at previous tour stops.

Say Hello To My Metal Friends: New ‘Iron Man 3’ Poster Reveals Alloyed Forces

A new Iron Man 3 trailer will hit the Internets on March 5.  In the meantime, Yahoo! has posted this exclusive new poster, which depicts an army of iron men rising behind a clearly cheesed-off Tony Stark ( Robert Downey Jr. ) whose armored suit is behaving like an iPhone that was accidentally dropped into a toilet. According to SlashFilm , this reveal may be a reference to the rumored climax of the movie in which Stark summons some multiple metal wingmen to kick some Mandarin  pu pu platter, or whoever it is that’s causing all the trouble in his life.  CHECK OUT MOVIELINE’S GALLERY OF IRON MAN 3 POSTERS The website also reports that a snippet of that iron-army scene will likely be featured in the trailer that drops next week, which will be the last one before the movie opens on May 3. Meanwhile, Yahoo! offers this interpretation of the poster. But what’s even more intriguing than the damaged suit he’s wearing are the seven he’s not. Streaking into the sky behind him are more armored suits, and while we don’t get a very clear look at them, they don’t appear to be any we’ve seen in the previous films. The one directly above Tony’s right arm has a grey and gold finish with spiky shoulders. Another directly behind his left shoulder is a bulkier suit with a gold, white and black appearance. Could this be the rumored “Deep Space Suit” fans have been buzzing about? A photo of an upcoming toy was released in late January with that description, which lead some Marvel acolytes to wonder if Tony might take a trip out into the cosmos, perhaps to meet up with the Guardians of the Galaxy , another comic-book team that will be getting their own movie in 2014. I don’t see Rocket Raccoon or Groot, who are both supposed to be part of the GOTG standalone, so I’m skeptical, but what do you think?  Let me know in the comments below. The Mandarin Flosses Some Gangnam Style In New ‘Iron Man 3’ Poster

Back in October, I wrote about how Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige was spinning Iron Man 3 villain the Mandarin as international rather than Chinese, his ethnicity in the Marvel universe.  “It’s less about his specific ethnicity than the symbolism of various cultures and iconography that he perverts for his own end,”  Feige told Entertainment Weekly at the time. The Mandarin’s topknot is supposed to evoke a Japanese samurai while EW called his beard “bin Laden-esque.” And now, Marvel has just released a new Iron Man 3 poster featuring the baddie, as portrayed by Ben Kingsley , wearing sunglasses, and my first thought upon seeing them was…”Oppan Gangnam Style !”  I know the  shades Kingsley’s wearing aren’t even close to the ones that Psy sports in the video, but  that’s the vibe I get. And I think there’s an argument to be made for the Korean rapper to be a part of the pastiche. After all, his earlier work contained anti-American lyrics, and he still managed to conquer us. Eff An Embezzling 3rd World Politician: President Of Rwanda Living It Up In NYC Hotel That Costs Ten Times His Country’s Average Annual Income

SMH… via NYPost.com : Rwandan President Paul Kagame is living in luxury during the United Nations General Assembly, staying in the $16,000-per-night presidential suite at the Mandarin Oriental. Kagame’s rooms have “panoramic views of Central Park, the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline,” says the hotel’s Web site. Rwanda’s average annual income last year was $1,150, according to the World Bank. Kagame, whose reps didn’t get back to us, is one of many world leaders with spending sprees on their UN agendas, despite the dismal global economic climate. Saudi leaders are at The Plaza, sources said, and a group of them headed to the hotel’s Warren-Tricomi salon yesterday for grooming. N***as, boy…
