Eliza Dushku Accuses Michael Weatherly of Sexual Harassment

Early this year, Eliza Dushku shared that she was molested at age 12 on the set of True Lies. It was a heartbreaking #MeToo story. What she did not share, because she had signed a confidentiality agreement, was something less awful but much more recent. Eliza was paid $9.5 million by CBS after she reported Michael Weatherly’s sexual harassment on the set of Bull . The New York Times reports that Dushku was paid $9.5 million in a secret settlement by CBS. Eliza joined the cast of Bull , a show that really exists about Dr. Phil, as a guest star whom they planned to make a series regular. The Buffy and Dollhouse alum quickly reported disturbing and outrageously inappropriate comments made by the show’s lead actor. Weatherly, best known for his roles on NCIS and Dark Angel , apparently made a series of not-safe-for-work (and not-safe-for-anywhere) comments. Eliza reported the sexual harassment … and quickly found herself written off of the series. Michael Weatherly made a rape joke, suggested a threesome, and made other comments of an overtly sexual nature to and about Eliza. According to the report obtained by the Times , Eliza laid out the incidents of sexual harassment. She reported that she made a gesture with three fingers, which prompted Michael to suggest that the two of them engage in a threesome with another cast member. She says that he would make comments — so apparently this happened multiple times — about bending her over his knee and spanking her. Gross, dude. Eliza also reported that he referred to a scene filmed at a windowless van and referred to it as a “rape van.” That last could have been a poor attempt at acknolwedging the creepiness of a windowless van, but it is not appropriate for a workplace. Though Eliza has not officially commented on the story, Michael did speak to the Times on the subject. “During the course of taping our show,” Michael says in his statement. “I made some jokes mocking some lines in the script.” “When Eliza told me that she wasn’t comfortable with my language and attempt at humor, I was mortified to have offended her and immediately apologized,” he says. “After reflecting on this further,” Michael adds. “I better understand that what I said was both not funny and not appropriate.”: “And I am sorry and regret the pain this caused Eliza,” Michael concludes. An apology is better than nothing. Sometimes, people need to unlearn bad behavior. Eliza did receive the $9.5 million settlement, said to be what she would have been paid as a castmember for four season of  Bull . In exchange, she had to keep quiet about the sexual harassment and the circumstances of her being written off of the show. According to the draft of the investigation report, this case exemplifies one of a number of problems at CBS. That’s no surprise. In a professional environment where reports of a man’s sexual harassment lead to a woman being written off of a show, things are not good. There is hope that, with the ousting of Les Moonves, CBS can undo decades of damage. In a statement to People , CBS acknowledges that this is far from their finest moment as a network. “While we remain committed to a culture defined by a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace, our work is far from done,” the statement reads. “The settlement of these claims,” CBS explains. “Reflects the projected amount that Ms. Dushku would have received for the balance of her contract as a series regular.” “And,” the statement says, the amount “was determined in a mutually agreed upon mediation process at the time.” Getting paid without doing the work may sound like a good deal, but it doesn’t help your resume or face-recognition. And no one should have to endure workplace sexual harassment. View Slideshow: #MeToo: Stars Share Stories of Sexual Harassment, Assault

American Horror Story Recap: What the Eff Just Happened?

American Horror Story: Apocalypse came to a dramatic conclusion on Wednesday night, and it was a divisive final episode.  The episode kicked off with Myrtle ambushing Venable to get closer to Jeff and Mutt.  “My hair is an eternal mystery never to be fully understood,” Myrtle said when Venable complained about her hair. “Purple is for royalty, dear, not middle management,” Myrtle then said of Venable’s purple hair and outfit.  BURN.   Myrtle then stormed into the office of two geniuses who binge on coke, robot hookers and bowl cuts. She needed them to make some space in Outpost 3.  Despite their reservations, they followed through on it because Myrtle was quick to point out that she was not messing around.  Then we learned the stunning revelation that Coco’s personality after the curse was actually courtesy of Madison because Mallory had to feel low self-esteem to keep her powers on the down low.  After several more time jumps, we finally landed back in the present in Outpost 3 with the witches telling Michael they had already won.  Dinah was adamant that she was not taking part in the fight between good and evil, but Cordelia had huge trick up her sleeve.  Papa Legba was unimpressed at the way Marie Laveau was working in the Underworld, so he brokered a deal with Cordelia: Dinah for Marie.  Without so much as a breath, Angela Basset’s alter ego appeared on the screen and killed Dinah. It was about time! Cordelia went on to make Mead explode, and Madison stole the gun and started shooting at Michael. He lay lifeless on the floor as Mallory, Myrtle and Cordelia ran off to do the spell with a piece of Michael’s hair.  But Brock appeared out of the shadows and stabbed Mallory. Could the world really end because of a loser like Brock? Michael reanimated and made Madison’s head explode, before heading upstairs to take down everyone else. He killed Marie and Coco, while Cordelia and Myrtle desperately tried to get Mallory to go back in time.  But it was too late. Mallory was bleeding out while Cordelia got into a tense war of words with Michael. As the supervillain tried to kill the Supreme, Cordelia sacrificed herself, thus passing the power into Mallory who woke up and took us back to the past.  Michael left Constance’s house in a daze after a big argument, and Mallory ran over the son of Satan multiple times until he died.  In 2015, Mallory enrolled at the school, and Cordelia was still the Supreme. Myrtle was dead again because Cordelia had no reason to resurrect her.  Mallory also managed to save Queenie’s life before she took the fateful trip to the Hotel Cortez that ended her life. As for Madison, well Mallory said she would bring her back after she sweated it out a little.  Defeating the spawn of Satan came with some perks, and Mallory brought Misty back to life. Nan, however, opted to stay with Papa Legba because she liked going on errands for him.  We then moved forward in time … again. Timothy and Emily aka the two kids chose to live in Outpost 3 without their families found their way to each other, got pregnant and had a demon baby.  In the final scene, the kid killed his babysitter, and the Satan worshippers showed up to bring the world to its knees.  It looks like the world can’t be saved! American Horror Story Recap: The Traitor

Wednesday’s episode found our favorite coven of witches desperately trying to find some allies as the war against Michael Langdon aka The Antichrist loomed.  Cordelia turned to Dinah Stevens, the witch who we know is in Outpost 3 in the present in this time jumping series, and asked her for a meeting.  The meeting was with Papa Legba, but Dinah was not about to set that up until she got some cold hard cash for the inconvenience of summoning the voodoo devil.  Cordelia parted with $100,000 and got a lot more than she bargained for when she realized that Nan was working with the elusive villain in hell.  “I really like hell,” she admitted to Cordelia. “It’s fun! … I make trouble.” Cordelia’s plan sounded rather simple: She wanted Papa Legba to open the gates of hell long enough to trap Michael in there for the rest of eternity.  While Papa Legba seemed to like the idea of Michael being all locked up in his realm, he said she would need to give him something in return.  All of her girls would have to make their way to the dimension, presumably so he could harness their powers. But that was not enough for Cordelia to agree to the offer.  Instead, she pleaded with Dinah after Papa Legba exited the scene, but Dinah was open about that being the only way out for them.  While Cordelia’s plan fizzled out, we got to witness a whole new plan thanks to the addition of Bubbles McGee, Joan Collins’ second character this season.  The washed-up movie star could tell what people were thinking, so Madison reached out to her in a blatant attempt to make the first strike against the men of Michael’s school.  Myrtle and Bubbles indulged in a dinner party with the warlocks, and that’s when Bubbles learned the frightening truth about John Henry: He was murdered, and both men knew all about it.  John Henry was brought back to life courtesy of Mallory and Zoe harnessing their magical abilities, and John Henry had a revenge plan in mind.  Cordelia intercepted Ariel and Baldwin’s plan to send powder through the air to kill her and her girls and noted that the idea was stolen from a woman.  Those warlocks switched the gender and set out to steal the idea for themselves. In any case, they were burned at the stake alongside Miss Mead.  John Henry returned to do the lightning, but it didn’t seem to faze Miss Mead who was chanting that it was a rebirth of sorts for her.  This episode was transitional more than anything. It set the tone for what’s to come in the coming weeks as the battle against the Antichrist gets underway.  What are your thoughts on the latest twists and turns? Hit the comments below! Shamone!…Not Stirred: Michael Jackson Was Supposedly PRESSED To Play James Bond

Photo by Kevin Mazur/WireImage Some Folks Weren’t Here For It Before any Idris Elba talk, the first Black James Bond could have been Michael Jackson . According to  Metro , the famous celebrity agent Michael Ovitz spilled all the details in his tell-all memoir  Who Is Michael Ovitz.  Back in the 1980s Michael pleaded with Hollywood bosses to be the next 007. It all started with a meeting at Ovitz’s home where Michael told him and Ovitz’ business partner Ron Meyer that he wanted to be “the star of an action movie.” Ovitz and Meyer couldn’t keep a straight face. Ovitz says the situation was made even more comical when Michael’s hat fell into a dish of guacamole. Michael tried to continue and sell the idea of him playing bond, but Ovitz and Meyer where still all laughs as the blob of guacamole was sliding down Michael’s hat. “Then the blob fell off, and Ron totally lost it. I cracked up, too, and Michael stalked out. I found him and explained for 15 minutes that we hadn’t been laughing at him,” Ovitz writes in his book.  “Finally, Michael’s face cleared. ‘OK, Ovitz. OK,’ he said. ‘But I want to play James Bond.’ I am proud to report I didn’t laugh, this time.” Ovitz then had to explain to The King of Pop that he wasn’t the best fit for the role of Bond, which has been played by actors like Sean Connery , Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan . Ovitz argued that Michael was “thinly built, you’re too sensitive, you won’t be credible as a brutal block of stone.” Obviously, by the end of it all, Michael did not get the role of 007. Idris Elba was rumored to be our first melanated British agent, but it seems he’s shut all that down. Back in August he tweeted out “don’t believe the hype” after he jokingly tweeted , “my name’s Elba, Idris Elba.” It seems Brother Bond will have to hold off a little while longer.
