‘Game Of Thones’ Spin-Off ‘House of the Dragon’ Coming To HBO

Source: HBO Game of Thrones fans who are still lamenting over the final season of the hit HBO show might find this news welcoming. During its big HBO Max presentation, the company announced the new spin-off House of the Dragon . HBO saved the best for last during the presentation revealing the prequel to Thrones will be produced by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal and will be based on Fire & Blood. The show will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Fans will also be elated to learn that Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the “Battle of the Bastards” episode, which is considered by most GOT fans as the best one, will serve as co-showrunner. He will also be directing the pilot and additional episodes, so that should curb any fears still lingering from the final season. Plus, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will not be attached to this show in any capacity. When it premieres, we will be getting 10 episodes and will serve as a part of Sapochnik’s overall deal to develop shows for HBO and HBO Max — the company’s new streaming service that will cost $14.99 — when it launches in May 2020. In a statement about HBO programming president, Casey Bloys spoke on the new show stating: “The  Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan, and George.” The announcement of House of the Dragon came on the heels of HBO reportedly shelving another GOT prequel starring Oscar-nominee Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie, and Denise Gough. #GameOfThrones ' George R.R. Halloween Appropriation: Is Our Diction More Damaging Than The Costumes Themselves?

Source: SOPA Images / Getty Halloween can be a fantastic time for those that celebrate it. While it’s geared towards children, adults fall into the fun as well ! Costumes are sold online, in stores, in fact, there are even pop up Halloween stores specifically selling items for this one evening. While it can be fun to dress up as your favorite celebrity, movie character, childhood character, meme, and more and there are so many creative ways to construct a costume (or just buy one), you can take the fantasy too far. Halloween has become associated with cultural appropriation because people may dress up in costumes, not knowing the history behind it. Worst of all, there seems to always be a case(s) of Blackface every year, which naturally let’s me know that Halloween is also a time that some choose to offend. In the age of Google, it’s hard for me to accept that someone just didn’t “know”. Doing the research on your costume and spending some time thinking about why you want to have this costume should lead you to know whether it’s a smart idea or not. People choose ignorance. Source: SOPA Images / Getty However, when will we acknowledge that our diction is more damaging than the costumes themselves? It comes out in marginalized communities like minorities and the obese . Growing up, I recall Black people saying, they were going to be the “ Black version of Ariel ” or “the Black Belle.” Yes, we have evolved and have our own Black princesses (shout out to Tiana), it still seems like a limitation for when we dress up for Halloween. We should just be able to imagine those characters in our own image, because for so long, we were ignored on the screen. Also, you can recreate a character without trying to recreate a race; you don’t see Black people powdering their faces, yet the need to create inclusion is heard clearly through the description. We aren’t even having enough discussions around size in animation or representation in a positive light for the young and old alike. Jessica Rabbit was the “thickest” the community has gotten. We haven’t advanced far enough in our fight in diversity to where Disney has given us a voluptuous Princess, with roll and folds in all her glory. Thank goodness we have been graced with a real life BAP like Lizzo . Each year, plus size women are forced to create representation for themselves, we dress up as Tinkerbell’s and Mariah Carey ‘s, Beyoncé ‘s, Michelle Obama ‘s, and Oprah ‘s showcasing the power of plus size women within our superstars. As we strive to be a more culturally aware society, Greek Goddesses become Goddesses, we dress up as skeletons and not Day of the Dead, and we don’t wear makeup from specific African origins in which we don’t identify. It’s not sensitive, it’s respectful and inclusive. Sometimes it’s not what we see and more so what we imply and our verbiage. By thinking more about what we say, how we say it, and how we describe our costumes, can speak volumes to communities that are normally affected by the thoughtlessness within the Halloween holiday. Remember Eminem Was Endorsed By Donald Trump 15 Years Ago

More:

Source: PIERRE ANDRIEU / Getty Remember in 2017 when  Eminem  came out of his decade long hiatus to drop a drop a new album and share his thoughts about the state of the world? That same year, Marshal made headlines for dragging Donald Trump to filth at  BET Hip Hop Award s, which made many fans glad that the real Slim Shady was back. He rapped: “Any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his / I’m drawing in the sand a line, you’re either for or against.” Apparently, Trump was so shook by the hard lyrics that he allegedly sent the Secret Service to investigate Eminem. Let’s be real, Em is the only rapper to diss both George W. Bush and Donald Trump while they were still in office. Fortunately, the “Stan” rapper has grown and evolved over the years. So much so that on his 2017 track “The Ringer”, he expressed his regrets about the Trump diss, rapping: “If I could go back, I’d at least reword it / And say I empathize with the people this evil serpent sold the dream to that he’s deserted. I’m watchin’ my fan base shrink to thirds. And I was just trying to do the right thing, but word.” But did you know that before Trump was head of state, and before Em was a reclusive hip hop icon, the two actually had a normal relationship. Trump gave an impassioned endorsement speech for Em at the 2004 Shady Convention which was organized by MTV to celebrate the rapper’s new satellite radio channel. It sure is a far cry from how the Donald is feeling about Eminem these days. And too bad Marshal can’t actually run for President in 2020. Check out the video above. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Em.   [ione_media_gallery src=”https://globalgrind.com” id=”4237872″ overlay=”true”]

‘The Matrix 4’ Casts Yahya Abdul-Mateen II & Doogie Howser In Undisclosed Roles

Source: Michael Ochs Archives / Getty Now that The Matrix 4 has been confirmed the cast surrounding Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss is beginning to take shape and a few days after The Get Down ‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is said to have landed a lead role in the sci-fi film, it’s now being reported that Doogie Howser, M.D. is about to become a part of the program. Variety is reporting that Neil Patrick Harris is the latest addition to the upcoming Wachowski directed blockbuster film but unfortunately details about the roles these newcomers will be playing is being kept under lock and seal. All we know about the script came from Keanu Reeves during an interview with Entertainment Tonight when he referred to the story as “very ambitious. As it should be!” We’re not sure how we should take that to be honest. Could be good or it could be that he didn’t wanna say it was overkill. Jada Pinkett Smith meanwhile continues to negotiate her deal with Warner Bros. to reprise her role of Niobe and Laurence Fishburne seems to be the odd man out as rumors have Abdul-Mateen II replacing him as a younger version of Morpheus (huh!?!). Will Niobe be cougaring it with a younger Morpheus in The Matrix 4 ? Probably. Principal photography on The Matrix 4 is set to start in 2020 with rumors have it releasing sometime in 2022. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments.

Skechers Trolls Nike After Infringement Lawsuit Filing

Source: Victor VIRGILE / Getty The two most unlikely footwear companies to be beefing are now in a heated legal war. Nike is alleging Skechers is copying their popular releases. As spotted on  High Snobiety the California based brand is being accused of lifting Nike’s designs from the Nike Air VaporMax and the Nike Air Max 270. So much so that the sportswear giant filed an infringement lawsuit earlier this month alleging “Skechers’ business strategy includes copying its competitors’ designs to gain market share.” Last week Skechers took out an advertisement in the  Los Angeles Times addressing the claims stating the claims are baseless. “As you may have heard, Nike filed a lawsuit against Skechers in Los Angeles alleging that those shoes infringe certain Nike patents. Please note that the lawsuit has been filed just recently and merely contains Nike’s unproven allegations. Skechers plans on defending the lawsuit vigorously and in response will deny that any of the listed styles infringe any of Nike’ patent. pic.twitter.com/RiA08BaboQ — SKECHERS USA (@SKECHERSUSA) October 14, 2019 This is not the first time Nike accused Skechers of style thievery. In 2016 they asked a judge to remove several Skechers releases from retail stores that they felt copied their patents. In what has to be considered elite corporate trolling, Skechers dropped on an advertising poking fun at Zion Williamson’s sneakers falling apart while on the court back in February. Skechers Instagram ad takes shot at Nike & Zion Incident. pic.twitter.com/huDcC9u21s — Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) March 1, 2019 Nike has not formally responded to the advertisement. Wild times we’re living in .. mind yo business on both matters tho — Queen of Zamunda (@JoyyUnSpeakable) October 15, 2019 But things haven’t always been this joyful for Keke and her brood. Just last year, the singer went through a very public divorce at the same time she was 8 months pregnant with her 9th child, and her other baby boy was fighting cancer. In an emotional video from 2018, the “R&B Divas” star lashed out: “You want to know something, America? When you 8 months pregnant and you got a child sick, in and out of the hospital, and your husband got the nerve to tell you that he wants a divorce. Because… he says that you’re an emotional wreck. He says that from the very beginning you never trusted me and all that kind of stuff.” What a difference a year can make, because now Keke is married to Zachariah Daring and expecting a brand new healthy baby. Won’t he do it? 10 does sound like a lot of kids, but hit the flip for more celebs with a starting five of their own.

Here’s What We Learned From Cyntoia Brown-Long’s First Post Prison Interview

Source: Wang Lunyi / EyeEm / Getty Cyntoia Brown-Long is finally living her life as a free woman after spending 15 years behind bars for the murder of 43-year old, Nashville real estate agent, Johnny Allen , who reportedly sex-trafficked the then 16-year old. Brown’s story got international media attention after stars like Kim Kardashian and Rihanna took to social media to support her release. View this post on Instagram did we somehow change the definition of #JUSTICE along the way?? cause….. Something is horribly wrong when the system enables these rapists and the victim is thrown away for life! To each of you responsible for this child's sentence I hope to God you don't have children, because this could be your daughter being punished for punishing already! #FREECYNTOIABROWN #HowManyMore A post shared by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on Nov 21, 2017 at 5:12am PST   The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown pic.twitter.com/73y26mLp7u — Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) November 21, 2017 On Tuesday, Brown did her first ever television interview since being released from prison, and was super candid about her time as a teenage inmate for killing the man who allegedly “bought her for sex.” Cyntoia talked with NBC’s Lester Holt about being granted clemency, living life as a convicted murderer & much more. She takes full responsibility for the murder of Johnny Allen: “He is a victim, you know? He was, he was, his family’s a victim. You know, his friends, the people that knew him, the people that loved him. Like, they had someone snatched away from them. And I did that.” She wants people to see a different side of her: “I want them to see that I’m so much more than the worst thing that I’ve done. You know, I’m so much more than that moment.” She’s changed: “I know there are people looking at me saying ‘okay, well what’s this girl gonna do? And is she really changed? So I feel like it’s an honor to actually be a picture of what rehabilitation looks like. Of what it looks like when we give people a second chance.”

Angelina Pivarnick Sends Weird, Lingerie-Themed Message In Wake of JWoww Relationship Drama

Angelina Pivarnick has issued a very confusing statement in response to a very awkward situation. And it involves the reality star donning some black lingerie. Allow us to explain… This past Thursday night, MTV aired an episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation that featured Jenni Farley’s boyfriend of a few months, Zack Clayton Carpinello, peppering Angelina with questions about her sex life. It was weird. Then, a short while later on this same episode, Farley passed out while the group was dancing at a nightclub… only for Carpinello to then get caught on camera groping Angelina’s rear end . This was beyond weird. It was downright uncalled for an inappropriate. Consider this screen shot from the incident: Farley, of course, missed the copped feel because she was in a blacked-out, drunken stupor. But she then watched the episode along with dozens of viewers around the country and was appalled by what she witnessed — to the point that she wrote the following on Instagram: “After seeing tonight’s episode I’m pretty hurt. I feel disrespected by someone I called a friend and by someone who stated they loved me.” She then made it clear that she had dumped Zack, concluding: For 5 months I was kept in the dark about this. For 5 months I was naive, probably laughed at and made into a story line that will forever haunt me. My heart hurts on so many levels. One thing I learned from tonight’s episode is know your value. Don’t ever lower your standards. Since then,  Carpinello has also spoken out , addressing his shortcomings and saying he’s sorry for his insensitive actions. “I made mistakes that I cannot take back, which I take full responsibility for,” Zack wrote in a statement on his Instagram over the weekend, adding: “Jenni does not deserve any damage from anybody else. This is on me. I sincerely apologize to Jenni. I apologize to Angelina as well… “I love Jenni, with everything I have, I make this known to be every day. I will continue to do everything to make this known to her and her kids, who also have my heart. “I will make it certain that nothing like this ever happen again, in any way regardless of outcome.” Pretty solid statement, all things considered. So this all brings us back to Angelina. Having been caught in the middle of this unfortunate drama, the engaged Jersey Shore cast member felt a need to make her own stance known on everything. And she’s done so by sharing the picture below and quoting actress Audrey Hepburn in her affiliated caption, which reads: I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.. I believe tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles. Well… okay then! We guess! These Jersey Shore episodes were filmed way back in the spring, remember. So while all the Zack-JWoww-Angelina dirt is being discussed online, there’s plenty more to play out on the small screen in the coming weeks. Such as what? Only an all-out war between these co-stars and occasional friends. See what we mean here: Jersey Shore Trailer Teases “All-Out War” Between Jenni and Angelina
