#SurvivingRKelly: Dame Dash Doesn’t F**k With R.Kelly — “Aaliyah Couldn’t Talk About It, That Dude Was A Bad Man” [Video]

Source: New York Daily News Archive / Getty Dame Dash Says He Didn’t Support Jay-Z & R. Kelly’s “Best Of Both Worlds” Because R. Kelly Upset Aaliyah Dame Dash doesn’t f–ck with R. Kelly! The music business mogul sat down with Kenyatta “The Hip Hop Motivator”, explaining why he never supported Kelly and it’s because Aaliyah was so shook after their relationship, she shut down talking about him. Dame says, like some of the women on “Surviving R. Kelly”, it was hard for Aaliyah to talk, but she did say that Kelly was a “bad dude.” At the 10:00 mark, Dame also said he never supported Jay-Z and R. Kelly’s collaborative tape after learning about Kelly’s child porn sex tape. He even went as far as taking his name off the project under Roc-a-fella at the time. Instead, he shared his cut with Aaliyah’s breast cancer organization. It was a whole mess, but Jay-Z still moved forward… “I watched some of it yesterday, and as a human I was tight. There was a girl and when she was trying to talk about it, she couldn’t. And I remember Aaliyah trying to talk about it and she couldn’t. She would just leave it at that dude was a bad man. I’ve been tight about this sh*t for years.” Hit play to listen.

Joe Bodolai, Former SNL Writer, Dies at 63

Former Saturday Night Live staff writer Joe Bodolai has died in an apparent suicide. His body was discovered yesterday by a cleaning crew at an L.A. hotel. Law enforcement sources say Bodolai, who wrote several Wayne’s World sketches for SNL as well as the movie, had been staying there more than a week. A mixture of anti-freeze and Gatorade may have done him in, TMZ reports. Classic Wayne’s World Sketch Bodolai also had posted what appears to be a suicide note on December 23 on his blog, titled, “If This Was Your Last Day Alive What Would You Do?” He goes on to describe some of the things he remembers, and laments. In the note, Bodolai writes about “Stuff I Would Like to Have Seen In My Life” such as the Browns winning the Super Bowl and the “truth” about JFK. The 63-year-old also lists “Things I Regret” such as “My inability to conquer alcoholism” followed by “The things I did because of it.” Very sad. He also lists “Things I Am Proud Of” – family members, his time as an SNL staff writer and “writing the first draft of Wayne’s World with Mike Myers.” Bodolai concludes his apparent sign-off to the world with this: “May you all have the happy lives you deserve. Thank you all for being in my life.”

Ryan Seacrest ‘Not Worried’ About ‘Idol,’ ‘X Factor’ Fatigue

‘I think that all of these shows are great for the music business,’ Seacrest tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Ryan Seacrest Photo: MTV News On Wednesday night, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and the rest of the “X Factor” gang kicked off the show on American TV. It’s the latest (and perhaps one of the most high-profile) addition to a television market already full of singing competition series . While both shows airs on Fox, “Factor” doesn’t directly compete with Cowell and Abdul’s old “American Idol” stomping grounds, but it does raise a question: Will TV viewers have singing fatigue by the time “Idol” kicks off next year? When MTV News caught up with host Ryan Seacrest at “Idol” auditions in New Jersey on Thursday (September 22), he said he wasn’t concerned about that at all. “I’m not worried about audiences being burnt out,” Seacrest told us as he made his way to meet with contestants. “I think that all of these shows are great for the music business and they’re great for people who want to make it in the music business. The more opportunity, the more shots, the more chances dreams come true, right?” Just as “X factor” wraps things up in December, “Idol” will be gearing up for a January kickoff. But Ryan insisted to reporters that things are “friendly” between the two shows, even revealing that he has spoken to “Factor” host Steve Jones. “I didn’t give him tips; he’s done this for a long time. I had a chance to meet him not too long ago and he was very, very kind and very nice and I wish him the best of luck,” he said. “I think he’ll enjoy his time with Simon. I had a decade with him. I think it’s time for him to endure Simon.” In addition to all of the “Factor” chatter, Seacrest gushed about the talent “Idol” has seen for the upcoming season. “Good. So far, so good. I have no idea what they sound like yet [today], but they look like they have potential, don’t they?” he said. “We’ve had a really good run so far with auditions. It’s been very, very impressive. The contestants have been very, very good.”

My music is kind of like my diary.
