‘I got more criticism about my hair than Jennifer Aniston did when she started ‘Friends,’ ‘ the ‘Wrath of the Titans’ star quips to MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan Sam Worthington in “Wrath of the Titans” Photo: Warner Bros. When previews began to play for “Wrath of the Titans,” the follow-up to 2010’s “Clash of the Titans,” the element of the trailer that got the biggest reaction wasn’t the mythological beasts or the battling gods, but the longer locks on star Sam Worthington’s head. Gone was Perseus’ anachronistic buzz cut from the original — a nitpicking problem for some who saw “Clash” — and in its stead was Worthington’s naturally curly hair. “I got more criticism about my hair than Jennifer Aniston did when she started ‘Friends,’ ” Worthington quipped to MTV News. With so much of the attention leading into the film’s premiere focused squarely on Worthington’s head, the actor told MTV News he isn’t too worried about those people’s opinions. “My brain goes, ‘If that’s the only thing you’re going to be focusing on, maybe you should get out more,’ ” Worthington said. Liam Neeson, Worthington’s co-star, offered some kind words about the change in hairdo. “His hair was good,” Neeson said. “The hair was good,” Worthington agreed. Within the fictional realm of “Wrath of the Titans,” the change in hairstyle makes sense for its own reasons. “The story jumps 10 years,” Neeson said. The sequel picks up a decade after the end of “Clash of the Titans.” Perseus is now a father and recent widower, and it isn’t long before his deadbeat dad Zeus comes a-callin’, asking for help once more. Still, Worthington continued to make light of the hairy discussion, suggesting that if the franchise were to continue, his hair options have no bounds. “It took Perseus 10 years. If we did another one, I’d just go longer. I’ll just keep going,” he said. “By the time you get to ‘Wrath of the Titans 10,’ I’ll look like Cousin Itt.” “And each hair is a demigod,” Neeson added. “Think about that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Wrath of the Titans.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . After her jive, tennis superstar is first to get the boot from season 14. By Kelley L. Carter Martina Navratilova on “Dancing with the Stars” Photo: ABC One down, 11 more to go. There wasn’t much shock on Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show. No one wanted to be the first celebrity sent packing, and after the first nine couples were told they were safe, it came down to an unsurprising pair of duos: Landing in the bottom two were tennis superstar Martina Navratilova and her professional partner Tony Dovolani and pop singer Gavin DeGraw and his partner Karina Smirnoff. Before it was revealed who would be going home during the first elimination show of the series’ 14th season, the tennis pro said that much like when she had a bad tennis match, she was hoping that she could come back next week a victor. Turns out, she won’t have the chance. In her Monday night performance of the jive, she messed up from the onslaught of her routine, and her score suffered for it. “That was sad because I love your approach to the routine,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told her. Head judge Len Goodman said during the first week of the show that he thought Navratilova was elegant and refined, but didn’t think her foxtrot from that first performance was “too careful.” The 55-year-old’s poor performance landed her at the bottom of the leaderboard. “It was an amazing experience. I wish it had lasted longer. I gave it everything I had, I just blew it yesterday. I wish everybody great luck,” Navratilova said after being told she was going home.
New single about ‘a boy I liked at a certain time,’ says singer. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift in her “Mine” video Photo: Big Machine Records Forget Drew, the inspiration for “Teardrops On My Guitar” or Joe Jonas, who sparked “Forever & Always.” . When Taylor Swift sat down to write her latest hit song, “Mine,” she had a different dude, who remains a mystery, on the brain. “I was reflecting back on a boy I liked at a certain time,” she told Rolling Stone about the tune, which will appear on her forthcoming album Speak Now . “The song is about what it would be like if I actually let my guard down.” Speak Now comes out on October 25, and Swift is bracing for the onslaught of craziness that will ensue as the drop date nears. But she loves the chaos. “I’m obsessed with being busy. It’s hectic and nonstop,” she said. “But I’m so ready.” What Swift wasn’t ready for was “Mine” leaking online earlier this month . After its early arrival, the song was rushed to radio and iTunes and subsequently debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Swift admits that while she appreciated the overwhelmingly positive response to the track, she in no way was expecting it to be released prematurely. “[My manager] said, ‘I don’t want you to panic.’ And I said, ‘The song leaked, didn’t it?'” she said. “I turned on my phone and there were texts saying, ‘Congratulations.’ A leak is so out of my comfort zone, but it ended up good in the end. It made me so emotional that I started crying.” The video for “Mine” premieres this Friday (August 27) at 8:30 p.m. ET on MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com. Are you excited for Taylor Swift’s new album? Photo: Emma Alter The eggplant that I have been growing in my garden has been extremely successful this year. The flowers are beautiful, which is always nice, and each plant is providing a large number of vegetables. I’m girding my loins for the onslaught of eggplant ready for harvesting. I have at least six coming in the next day or two, maybe closer to ten. Some vegetables you can keep around the kitchen for a while, but eggplant tends to get bitter, so you should cook it as soon as you can…. Read the full story on TreeHugger
Ready for another onslaught of Robert Pattinson? With Eclipse coming out on June 30, the reluctant star will likely be gracing the cover of magazines and making the media rounds in the very near future. For starters? He spoke to Great Britian’s The Daily Mirror this month. The interview didn’t elucidate anything particularly newsworthy or new about the actor, as Pattinson once again noted how scary life in the spotlight can be for him. “You start getting a bit paranoid,” Robert said . “Looking around when you’re walking down the street, in case you get mobbed by teenage girls… I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to not be seen.” Fortunately for women everywhere, Pattinson hasn’t accomplished this goal. In an ideal world, “no one finds out where you’re staying,” Pattinson said. “If people aren’t following you, or outside a restaurant if you have dinner there… then it’s great.” As for the inevitable Kristen Stewart question? Robert was typically mum on the subject of his rumored girlfriend, simply saying: “It’s difficult either way. When the spotlight seems centered on you, the best thing is to remain as much of a mystery as you can.” Still, Pattinson is willing to let one piece of information slip – and it will make him even more beloved in the eyes of females around the world. He says: “I really like The Notebook .” Come on, man. That’s just not fair. Give other guys at least some chance!
