Leah’s Lemonade: Travis Scott Set To Perform At The Super Bowl With Maroon 5

Read the original:

Over the last two years one of America’s favorite professional sports league, the NFL hasn’t been able to please some of it’s people of color. After Colin Kaepernick kneeled to highlight police brutality against people of color and never got hired people vowed boycott the NFL. Well that boycott has ran deep for many celebrities. Allegedly the NFL asked Rihanna to perform at the Super Bowl but she declined due to the Kaepernick/ kneeling controversy.  Apparently the NFL struggled to find someone after asking Rihanna because most artists didn’t want any parts of the controversy. The NFL finally got Maroon 5 to commit to the big game but they need special guests to appear during the set. Well it’s official rapper Travis Scott has signed on to join the pop group on the main stage. While social media didn’t like his choice, rapper Meek Mill took to twitter to give his opinion: For what???? https://t.co/oTZ4PsDqcD — Meek Mill (@MeekMill) December 20, 2018 All though Meek said it’s all love, he said for what? He don’t need that he on fire already! Stay strong in this shit! — Meek Mill (@MeekMill) December 20, 2018 If you want to hear about who else they’re trying to get sign on to the Super Bowl listen to Leah’s Lemonade above.

Omarosa Takes A Swipe At John Kelly’s Dismissal As White House Chief Of Staff

Read more from the original source:

T here’s an old saying: what goes around comes around. That’s how Omarosa Manigault Newman responded to news that the White House chief of staff John Kelly , who fired Omarosa last year, was ousted from his job. The former reality TV star called Kelly’s dismissal “karma.” SEE ALSO: Omarosa Kept Away From Trump As John Kelly Limits Oval Office Access President Donald Trump announced Saturday that Kelly will leave his job by the end of this year. Kelly was increasingly isolated in the White House and lost favor with the president, according to the Associated Press . “John Kelly will be leaving — I don’t know if I can say retiring — but he’s a great guy. John Kelly will be leaving at the end of the year. We’ll be announcing who will be taking John’s place — it might be on an interim basis. I’ll be announcing that over the next day or two, but John will be leaving at the end of the year. … I appreciate his service very much,” the president stated. #karma https://t.co/GioEfHOF2B — OMAROSA (@OMAROSA) December 8, 2018 In December 2017, Kelly fired Omarosa who worked at the White House as an aide to Trump. Omarosa provided NBC News with an audio recording in August of Kelly firing her in the Situation Room. “It’s come to my attention over the last few months that there’s been some pretty, in my opinion, significant integrity issues,” Kelly told Omarosa. She took it as a threat when Kelly suggested that a smooth exit from the White House would help her reputation. “I think it’s important to understand that if we can make this a friendly departure we can all be, you know, you can look at your time here in the White House as a year of service to the nation, and then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation,” Kelly said on the tape. Kelly, a retired Marine Corps four-star general came to the White House in June 2017 after serving briefly as Trump’s homeland security secretary. He was expected to be the adult in the room and bring order to the chaotic White House. His no-nonsense approach to managing the White House and who had access to the president alienated some Trump allies, causing him to become isolated to have a diminished role, according to the Associated Press. At the same time, he openly talked about the tribulations of working for the president, which angered Trump. During this time at the White House, Kelly created controversy when he tried to slander Florida’s Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson , who was feuding with Trump over his mistreatment of Army Sgt. La David Johnson ’s widow Myeshia Johnson . Kelly also ignited controversy when he disregarded slavery as a cause of the Civil War and praised Confederate General Robert E. Lee during an interview with Fox News. Adiós! Utah Republican Voters Slam Mia Love: ‘She Was A Ghost Representative’

Here is the original post:

M ia Love   was the only Black woman Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and now the voters of the state she represented are slamming her. SEE ALSO: Black Republican Mia Love Loses After Playing The Race Card According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah voters were not happy with her performance. Voter Martin van Blankenstein said he previously voted for Love but she she disappeared after her election, did little to nothing in D.C. and ignored her constituents in Utah. “It was like she was a ghost representative,” said Blankenstein. On the Democrat who won, he explained, “Is Ben McAdams any better? I don’t know, but I think it’s worth a shot.” Another Republican voter, Ryan Gaines, believes Love was not accessible. “You couldn’t talk to her,” he said. “I’ve tried to call before to give my opinion on certain subjects. It just never got through, and I didn’t find that to be very appropriate for an elected representative.” Other voters felt her campaign style was “very hyperpartisan.” Love constantly attacked Democrats, claiming the rebuttal against her was harsh because she was a Black woman—however, she never properly addressed her racist  president. Recently, she talked about the Black community and Democrats. The Utah representative told the Washington Examiner ,  “So why do they stay with Democrats? I think it’s because they feel like they have a home — or Democrats make them feel like they have a home. I’ve said this to my colleagues, we need to do a better job than just talking about how great our policies are, we need to actually let people know that we care. They need to like Republicans.” Well, it sounds like Democrats or Republicans have no love for Mia Love. Mahershala Ali And Viggo Mortensen Tells Stories Of People Butchering Their Names

Continue reading here:

Make it a priority to go see Green Book starring Mahershala Ali. The movie tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Dr. Don Shirley a black classical pianist and Tony Lip Vallelonga an Italian bouncer who gets hired to drive Dr. Shirley through the Jim Crow south for a string of performances in a bunch of whites-only venues. I sat down with Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen , the stars of Green Book for an interview about the film where they open up about two of the best-acted roles of the year. You are likely to hear their names mentioned all throughout awards seasons. They chatted about working with one another, falling into these characters and we even got a laugh about how people mispronounce their names. Mahershala who puts on an epic performance as Dr. Don Shirley reveals they started building their chemistry before they started filming, “There is no greater feeling in acting, or in this craft than to work with somebody you feel like you’re with every step of the way. We just really did the dance from before we started shooting. From sitting in the hotel in New Orleans going through the script and reading it through together and we locked into something really early and it just never left us.” Green Book is one of the best movies of the year and right now it’s number 1 on my list. When I sit down and go back over all the movies I have seen this one will rank high on my list of movies. I’m sure you’ll see it in a bunch of top 10 list of other popular top ten list as well. There has been a lot of chatter about this movie and how it’s told from Tony’s perspective but in my opinion that doesn’t take away from the quality of the film. While this is a feel-good movie, there isn’t anything wrong with that. America is a racist country that continues to this day to have deep roots in that flawed ideology and just because one movie decides to tell the story of two people coming together despite their differences doesn’t mean it’s implying that racism is over. It’s just a story. The more movies they make like this the closer we get to a place where we can all get along. Green Book hits theaters everywhere Wednesday, go see with the family after Thanksgiving dinner.

The Rewind: New MihTy and BlacKkKlansman Comes To DVD

Original post:

Source: Global Grind / Global Grind DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back with yet another weekly breakdown of The Rewind . In case you’ve been hiding under a rock or months, The Rewind is a weekly show that breaks down all of the things you may have missed in the last week. No matter the topic, our guys DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are going to discuss it and then rate it from a 1-10. On this episode of The Rewind, we’re talking  BlacKkKlansman . The film premiered in theaters on August 10th and is set to be released on DVD on November 6th. That’s right, election day! The Spike Lee joint, which was co-produced by Jordan Peele,  stars John David Washington as Ron Stallworth, a black detective in Colorado Springs that goes undercover to not only infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan but also bring down the entire operation before they carry out a plot to harm hundreds of black people. The film did numbers at the box office. It has pulled over $85 million so far but did it really live up to all of the hype? Landon and Franchise give their opinion. For Landon, although the film is obviously about racism, he felt that the racism was very forced in the movie. If you’re sensitive to certain language, be advised that there will be a lot of racial slurs being thrown around in this film — this is the KKK, you know? Also, was accuracy an issue? Find out what Landon and DJ Franchise had to say about that. Then we discuss Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaboration project, MihTy .  The two crooners came together for their release produced by Hitmaka. The project was released on October 26th and has been met with mixed reviews. Jeremih and Ty Dolla Sign have previously released singles in promotion of the album. Over the summer they dropped “The Light.” Then they dropped  “Goin Thru Some Thangz” earlier in October. A few weeks later, they dropped  “New Level”. What did DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius weigh in.

Rami Malek Talks Bohemian Rhapsody & Why Freddie Mercury Is A Revolutionary | Extra Butter

Read the original post:

Bohemian Rhapsody is more than a Freddie Mercury biopic it’s an exploration and celebration of one of the most popular rock bands of a generation, Queen. The movie is in theaters now and one this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine , we break down the film with Rami Malek as Mercury, Gwilym Lee as Brian May , Ben Hardy as Roger Tayler and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon . Also joining us on this episode is Lucy Boynton who plays Mary Austin , the muse and lifelong friend of Freddie Mercury. Rhapsody delivers grade a acting from everyone involved with Rami Malek being the bright spot. His performance as the legendary rock icon was spot on, from the movements to the lip syncing and the performances. I asked the guys about recreating Queen’s iconic Live Aid performance , Rami revealed that doing one song and stopping was a lot harder than the guys doing the entire Queen set. He told us, “Sometimes it would be more exhausting just to do one of the songs then take a break and do the entire concert because you’re running on so much adrenaline that is carrying you from song to song.” The film nailed the energy of the show. I watched Queen’s performance at the benefit concert and it was almost identical. It’s scary how they were able to pull it off. Rami explained he felt the similarities too, “I remember working on the entire piece when we shot it and seeing how it was similar to their performance you could feel when the adrenaline was kicking in for them as well.” One of the other highlights of the film was watching Rami and Lucy Boynton work together on screen to craft Freddie and Mary’s relationship turned friendship. To me, I felt as if, at least for the movie, Freddie felt like he owned Mary because she was his girl. Lucy explained a pivotal scene when Mary starts living for herself. Lucy really perked up when she heard my opinion of the film saying, “It’s interesting that you say, you see that in the film, I guess that is that thing of the kind of expectation you have of people. Of what they give you and do for you, so I think Freddie really relied on Mary as a staple and center point of his life. You think that such a beautiful and romantic thing until you reverse that and think about how that must of have felt on the receiving end to be seen as someone’s center point as they go off and around.” Overall Bohemian Rhapsody is a good film that celebrates Queen and delivers an award-winning performance from Rami Malek that’s worth going to the movies to see, but if you want a deep dive into the life of Freddie Mercury, as I felt like the movie could have went deeper into the life of Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody is in theaters now.
