Missing Pregnant Teacher Found, Assistant Principal Suspected An Assistant Principal is the prime suspect in the brutal murder of a pregnant Louisiana woman. Lyntell Washington had been missing since Thurdsday, her three-year-old child found abandoned near her empty vehicle which was stained with blood. Police found the remains of Washington today with a single gunshot wound to the head. Her alleged lover, married Assistant Principal Robert Jovantie Marks is suspected to have committed the act — apparently killing his girlfriend and unborn child in one heinous act. Via FOX8 : The body found in Iberville Parish on Tuesday is the pregnant teacher who has been missing since last week, according to officials. The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office was able to use dental records to positively identify the body as Lyntell Washington, 40, of Baton Rouge. She was reported missing last Thursday morning after her 3-year-old daughter was found in Baton Rouge alone near her vehicle, which had blood inside it. An autopsy that was performed by the the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office on Wednesday revealed Washington died from a gunshot wound to the head and as a result, her unborn child died as well. The coroner said there was no trauma to the fetus. On Wednesday, Dr. Beau Clark, the parish coroner, said the body was so badly decomposed that they needed DNA samples to make a positive identification. Investigators from several agencies assisted in processing the scene Tuesday after a farmer in Rosedale found Washington’s body. The assistant principal of the Baton Rouge middle school where Washington works was arrested in connection with her disappearance. Robert Jovantie Marks, 39, was charged with aggravated kidnapping and child desertion charges because Washington’s child was left abandoned in a parking lot. Police said Saturday that Marks had gotten a lawyer and refused to cooperate with the investigation. With the body now identified as Washington, police will likely question Marks again. He remains in custody. The 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Marks will likely face additional charges, including murder and feticide. WOW. According to Raw Story The text messages read as if they’ve been ripped from a freaky novel. Matthew Riedlinger quizzed his texting partner about sex videos, pressed for details about intimate liaisons, described sexual acts and encouraged mutual masturbation. He also repeatedly asked to meet. “Promise me you will never breath (sic) a word of this to anyone — ok?” he wrote. Riedlinger had good reason for discretion. He is a priest of the Diocese of Trenton, and while exchanging more than 1,200 text messages over four weeks last year, he thought was he talking to a 16-year-old boy. Riedlinger, at the time an assistant pastor at St. Aloysius Church in Jackson and a sex-education teacher at the parish school, was the target of an elaborate sting by a Catholic University of America graduate who says the priest sexually harassed him for years. Timothy Schmalz, now 23 and a resident of Washington, D.C., said he was moved to action after his first complaint about Riedlinger in 2011 resulted in what he characterized as a slap on the wrist by Trenton Bishop David M. O’Connell. Schmalz is one of five young men who provided The Star-Ledger with similar accounts of harassment and sexual obsession by the priest. Four of the five were in their late teens or early 20s when Riedlinger began inappropriate and persistent sexual dialogues with them, they said. The fifth was in his late 20s. The sting, initiated on Facebook and carried out through the use of a Google Voice account, partially served its purpose. After Schmalz forwarded transcripts of the text messages and other materials to O’Connell in August 2012, the bishop removed Riedlinger from the parish, placed him in an in-patient treatment program and later assigned him to restricted ministry away from children, the diocese confirmed. But for more than a year, O’Connell refused to tell parishioners at St. Aloysius why the priest had been pulled, an omission that advocates for victims of clergy sex abuse call a flagrant violation of the church’s pledge of transparency. Moreover, the former pastor, the Rev. Kevin Keelan, chastised parishioners for asking questions about Riedlinger’s removal, saying in the church bulletin that “blabbing” was a sin and that they were not entitled to more information. O’Connell informed parishioners of the complaints in a statement only last weekend, a day after The Star-Ledger questioned the diocese about Riedlinger and the decision to withhold information about the allegations. The statement called Riedlinger’s behavior “deeply troubling” and said it is “in no way to be tolerated in the life and ministry of a priest.” SMH. Shutterstock

Venice, Louisiana (CNN) — Crews cleaning up the oil in one Louisiana parish have trampled the nests and eggs of birds including the brown pelican, which came off the endangered species list last year, the head of the parish said Wednesday. Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser said the parish doesn't want to turn away contractors, but he called for more care when crews work in the sensitive wetlands. He said officials recently found broken eggs and crushed chicks on Queen Bess Island, near Grand Isle. Plastic bags containing snare boom were “recklessly placed” around the island without consideration for wildlife. In one picture released by the parish, a plastic bag was on top of a nest containing broken speckled eggs. Dozens of people, including experienced veterinarians, have been going to the area from all over the country to help with the affected wildlife, the parish said. Nungesser met with the Humane Society of the United States and asked it to work with contractors who are cleaning the birds to come up with a better way to enlist the help of volunteers, the parish said. “We want to improve our comfort level of knowing someone is out there looking for these birds and other animals — doing all they can to save them,” Nungesser said on the parish website. “The people BP sent out to clean up oil trampled the nesting grounds of brown pelicans and other birds,” he said. “Pelicans just came off the endangered species list in November of last year. They already have the oil affecting their population during their reproduction time, now we have the so-called clean up crews stomping eggs. “The lack of urgency and general disregard for Louisiana's wetlands and wildlife is enough to make you sick,” he said. added by: EthicalVegan
