Smooth Presidential Jams: Barack Obama Debuts On Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs Chart

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty President Obama Just Landed A Spot On The Billboard Charts Barack Obama has just scored a spot on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. Y’all’s lil president could never. The Hawaii native debuted on this week’s list for his contribution to the new gospel-inspired arrangement of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton hit “One Last Time (44 Remix),” according to Billboard . Obama’s contribution to the song (unfortunately) doesn’t include any singing, but he delivers his rendition of George Washington’s farewell address on the track–which also features original Hamilton cast member Christopher Jackson and gospel star BeBe Winans. The song is a variation on the original song from Hamilton and debuted at No. 22, one slot above the John Legend’s holiday hit, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Lin-Manuel Miranda released the track on December 20 as his last “Hamildrop” of the 2018, and of course, its title is an obvious nod to Obama being the 44th U.S. president. President Obama’s history with Miranda dates back to 2009, when the he held “An Evening of Poetry, Music & Spoken Word” at the White House. Miranda rapped a song from what he was calling his “Hamilton Mixtape,” and the performance garnered tens of thousands of views online. That event is what helped inspire the full-blown 2016 musical that went on to win the New Yorker’s musical 11 Tony awards, as well as the 2016 Grammy for best musical theater album and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama. The entire cast visited the White House in 2016 and Miranda once again returned in 2017 to perform “One Last Time” as a tribute to Obama at the end of his second term.

Cardi B Allegedly Turned Down Super Bowl Performance Because The Bag Was Light?

View post:

Source: Gladys Vega / Getty The upcoming Super Bowl and its beleaguered halftime show set with Maroon 5 continues to take hits according to news reports. Cardi B was slated to join the performance but turned it down, allegedly because she wanted a large fee to do so. Page Six reports : The Bronx breakout star, who features on Maroon 5’s recent No. 1 hit “Girls Like You,” has been repeatedly invited to join the band during its halftime performance on Feb. 3. However, a source close to the negotiations said, “Cardi B is standing tough and holding out. She doesn’t want to do it unless they roll out the red carpet for her.” The source claimed that the diva rapper had demanded a staggering fee of up to $1 million, plus a solo spot in the epic halftime show to make it worth her while. Artists are not paid for the halftime show, but are given a “gift in kind” by the NFL to cover expenses such as production, transport and wardrobe. The outlet adds that Cardi B might also be pushing back in doing the performance to show support for Colin Kaepernick. — Photo: Getty

Adiós! Utah Republican Voters Slam Mia Love: ‘She Was A Ghost Representative’

Here is the original post:

M ia Love   was the only Black woman Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and now the voters of the state she represented are slamming her. SEE ALSO: Black Republican Mia Love Loses After Playing The Race Card According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah voters were not happy with her performance. Voter Martin van Blankenstein said he previously voted for Love but she she disappeared after her election, did little to nothing in D.C. and ignored her constituents in Utah. “It was like she was a ghost representative,” said Blankenstein. On the Democrat who won, he explained, “Is Ben McAdams any better? I don’t know, but I think it’s worth a shot.” Another Republican voter, Ryan Gaines, believes Love was not accessible. “You couldn’t talk to her,” he said. “I’ve tried to call before to give my opinion on certain subjects. It just never got through, and I didn’t find that to be very appropriate for an elected representative.” Other voters felt her campaign style was “very hyperpartisan.” Love constantly attacked Democrats, claiming the rebuttal against her was harsh because she was a Black woman—however, she never properly addressed her racist  president. Recently, she talked about the Black community and Democrats. The Utah representative told the Washington Examiner ,  “So why do they stay with Democrats? I think it’s because they feel like they have a home — or Democrats make them feel like they have a home. I’ve said this to my colleagues, we need to do a better job than just talking about how great our policies are, we need to actually let people know that we care. They need to like Republicans.” Well, it sounds like Democrats or Republicans have no love for Mia Love.
