Oklahoma City Thunder star Kendrick Perkins has been arrested in connection with allegedly punching a woman in the face outside of a nightclub in July. Officials say Perkins and-in-law Quincy Alpough were outside Nox nightclub in Harris County, Tex., when they got into an altercation with a woman. Mikeeta Cotton claims that she was driving her car in front of the club and got into a fender bender with Alpough’s female cousin, who came at her. Alpough quickly joined in, pushing her and yelling, Cotton claims, and Perkins also entered the melee, smacking her in the face with a closed fist. Perkins is accused of hitting Cotton ‘s brother as well, while a third person says that Alpough elbowed her in the throat, knocking her unconscious. Cops investigated the situation and decided there was enough evidence to charge Perkins, who is free on $1,000 bail, with misdemeanor assault. Thunder GM Sam Presti issued a statement in response: “We are aware of the allegations and take this matter seriously. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.” In 2011, Perkins was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct for his alleged involvement in a fight outside a bar in Beaumont, Tex.

Two days after Jovan Belcher murdered his girlfriend and took his own life, the family of this Kansas City Chiefs linebacker has released a statement. “As a family, no words can express the sorrow we feel over the loss of Jovan and Kasandra,” they said, referring to Kasandra Perkins, Belcher’s victim and girlfriend at the time of her death. “The impact that this inconceivable tragedy has had on our heart is immeasurable; we are overwhelmed with both sadness and confusion.” With the Kansas City organization in mourning, Bob Costas created a stir last night when he stated on NBC that a lack of gun control was to blame for this horrific incident. It’s a sad, confusing time for all close to the situation and our thoughts are with them. The immense outpouring of sympathy and support from Jovan’s friends, teammates, coaches and fans have been a reflection of the impact he had on so many people. “Like them, we will cherish the wonderful memories we have of Jovan and we pray that those memories will bring us peace as we grapple to understand the unpredictable and tragic ending of his life and the life of Kasandra Perkins. “As we attempt to grieve in the aftermath of this tremendous loss we ask that you please respect our privacy in doing so. Only GOD can mend our hearts.”

KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City reported that Christianity was apparently offensive, government bank examiners determined in a bank visit in Perkins, Oklahoma. Federal Reserve examiners come every four years to make sure banks are complying with a long list of regulations. The examiners came to Perkins last week. And the team from Kansas City deemed a Bible verse of the day, crosses on the teller’s counter, and buttons that say “Merry Christmas, God With Us” were inappropriate. The Bible verse of the day on the bank's Internet site also had to be taken down. read more
