Meredith Phillips, Former Bachelorette Star, Says She Was Drugged and Assaulted on Season 2

Meredith Phillips, the star of ABC’s Bachelorette back in 2004, said this week on a podcast that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by a crew member on the set of this long-running ABC reality show. It’s a damning and troubling accusation. Per Reality Blured,  Phillips made this allegation while speaking to Steve Carbone (aka Reality Steve) in response to a question about the most challenging aspect of production. “Well, besides being always really tired and some of the producers were – how do I say this? Helpful but not helpful, in terms of trying to make me relax,” Phillips replied, somewhat mysteriously. She then elaborated: “Normally, I wouldn’t talk about this, but I’m going to tell you because it’s bothered me for years. “And I know another friend of mine who was working on the show felt the same experience I did, about getting roofied and in a hot tub and kind of accosted.” Wait… what? Roofied? As in: someone drugged Phillips and took advantage of her? Yes, she says. The allegedly awful deed was done by “a masseuse that a producer hired to come into my room and to give me a massage,” says Phillips. The ex-reality star says she assumed the pill this person gave her was an “aspirin or something to loosen up my back.” But… “It definltey wasn’t that, that’s for sure. The last thing I remember was she got naked and she was in the tub with me, and rubbing my back and rubbing areas probably she shouldn’t have. “And then I was put in bed. I woke up naked. Don’t remember much.” Yikes. That’s extremely disturbing to hear. Phillips, whose season of The Bachelorette was filmed in 2003 and aired in early 2004, said that the experience was “hard for me to talk about because I think I’ve put it somewhere else in my brain.” She was rejected by Bob Guiney on The Bachelor Season 4, finishing as the third runner-up, prior to starring as The Bachelorette and selecting Ian McKee as her winning suitior. The couple broke up in February of 2005. Thinking back on this horrifying incident, Phillips said once whatever she had taken kicked in, “I literally couldn’t even move my body, so I have no idea what the pill was, at all. “All I know is that I was told that, ‘This will make you feel better.'” ABC is yet to address this charge, but we’d expect the network to make a statement at some point. Why didn’t she leave the series after this happened? There was “definitely a part of me” that wanted to, she acknowledges, “but I am also the kind of person that finishes what she starts… “It is a huge deal. I have worked through it.” The story has come out just days before Becca Kufrin debuts as The Bachelorette on Season 14. View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Season 14: Who Are Becca’s Men?

Bye, Bye Maury: Male Birth Control Pills Coming Right Up!

It looks like there are going to be a lot fewer baby daddies running around… A group of Kansas City doctors are on the verge of developing the first ever male birth control pill. The active agent in the pill will be a chemical compound named H2-gamendazole, that will keep sperm cells from developing in the testes. Doctors developing the pill say that men would experience no change in their libido and and after they stop taking it, regain full fertility in just a few weeks. The pills have been tested on monkeys, mice, rats and rabbits (no dogs by the way). Researchers said they saw no change in the animals’ behavior and that the monkeys still appeared to be “happy.” Developers are confident that the pills will meet FDA approval, but even then, it will be at least another decade before the Male Birth Control pill be available on the market. So until then fellas, be wise. Fellas, are you copping a male birth control pill? And will there still be a Maury show after these pills come out?! Pic via Maury Show Source More On Bossip! Scientist Testifies Johnson & Johnson Contraceptive Leads To Cancer

Read the original post:

On April 28, 2011, Dr. Chris Kahlenborn, a medical adviser  presented a resolution at a shareholder’s meeting on behalf of a shareholder, Human Life International. The resolution proposed a change in Johnson & Johnson’s policy — that it would not discriminate in employment against breast cancer survivors, including those voicing opposition to the sale of the pill. Shareholders rejected the proposal after J&J’s board sent a message saying they “did not believe the resolution is necessary.”   World Health Organization scientists’ research and a meta-analysis in Mayo Clinic Proceedings show the pill is associated with cancers. Use of the pill has been linked to the deadly triple-negative breast cancer. Johnson and Johnson have been having sever issues with recalls lately as has been written about in our articles  Johnson & Johnson Issue Recall On Epilepsy Medicine and Another Recall Of Tylenol® Products. Now comes word about their contraceptives. The following statement was given by Chris Kahlenborn, MD, on April 28, 2011 in  Trenton, NJ “Good Morning.  Thank you for the opportunity to address all of you today.  Each year, over 200,000 women develop invasive breast cancer in the United States.  In regard to Johnson and Johnson, it is good to affirm a resolution that promises not to discriminate against hiring women who have developed breast cancer; but it is not enough.  This company has a unique opportunity to be a leader against the fight against breast cancer by working to prevent it. In October, 2006, four researchers, including myself, published a meta-analysis in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings on the subject of oral contraceptives and pre-menopausal breast cancer (1).  After reviewing all of the world’s data, we found that 21 out of 23 studies showed an increased risk of developing invasive premenopausal breast cancer if women took oral contraceptives prior to the birth of their first child, which is when most women take them.  These women incurred a 44% increased risk, which rose to 52% if they took them for at least 4 years prior to the birth of their first child.  Both of these results were significant at the 99% confidence interval-the highest standard used in research.  In addition we noted that the World Health Organization had recently classified oral contraceptives as a Group I carcinogen-the most dangerous type known to humankind.” Recently our study was quoted in the Frontiers of Medicine in China (3) whose researchers performed their own meta-analysis and found that women who took oral contraceptives sustained a 112% increased risk in developing breast cancer.  In addition, a recent collaborative study co-authored by investigators from the National Cancer Institute, the Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington cited our meta-analysis and also noted significant breast cancer risk with oral contraceptives . In conclusion, I note that there are three good reasons for you to consider the alternative of ceasing all hormonal contraceptive sales while specifically and publicly citing the breast cancer risk: 1)    Limitation of bad press.  Instead of picking up Bloomberg Businessweek and cringing you would be a step ahead of the curve and your competitors and would be seen as a leader.  People want to see Johnson and Johnson as a company that makes safe products like your shampoo-not products that are becoming controversial, such as oral contraceptives. 2)    Limitation of future lawsuits: Suits against the thrombotic potential of oral contraceptives are increasing and the breast cancer link may well be the next frontier. 3)    It is the right thing to do.   I ask the executives and board members of Johnson and Johnson to simply ask yourselves one question:  knowing what you know today, would you be comfortable if your wife or daughter were to take Johnson and Johnson’s hormonal contraceptive pills? Thank you for your time and attention.  I will be available for questions and this presentation and its sources will be posted on the Human Life International website.  I have a couple of extra copies for those interested here. How To Deal With People’s Hidden Agendas

Continue reading here:

Some people have hidden agendas: Goals that they wish to accomplish at some cost to others.  We live in a world that speeds out of control with people who are only concerned with what they need and how to get it. These agendas can quickly become quite obvious. What kinds of hidden agendas can people have? In scripture we are warned against people They might want to Make themselves feel better by putting other people down. Achieve a position of power or prestige at the expense of others. Control other people. Make other people feel bad about internally. How can you recognize and deal with hidden agendas? 1-     Pay attention-Watch what a person says or does, and see how you feel in response to it. If someone says something that may seem like some kind of compliment, but feels like a put-down, then it could be an action arising out of a hidden agenda. 2-     Confront it head on. If you confront that person about it (lovingly, of course), and they deny it or try to explain it away, give them the benefit of the doubt, but keep an eye on them. 3-   Identify the behavior-    If the same kind of behavior continues, and you confront them again on it and they still deny it or explain it away, but continue acting the same, then the likelihood is high that it is a hidden agenda. 4-     Define  a result- Decide what you want to do about/with that person. Do you want to keep associating with them? If it is a friend, you can drop the friendship—after all, what kind of friend continually tries to undermine you, control you, or make you feel bad about yourself? Be aware that it takes time to learn to recognize hidden agendas, and even more time to learn the skills required to deal with people like this. We all are motivated by something. It just depends on how we achieve our end results. We don’t need to destroy others to get where we need to go. Related Articles 15 Steps On How To Gain Real Power Gospel Song of The Day: All I Need

Newsweek Promotes Parent-Free Pill Access for Teens

Should it be easier for your teenage daughter to get birth control pills without your knowledge? One Newsweek contributor thinks so. In a July 7 op-ed , Meredith Melnick praised the “movement” to make the Pill more accessible by making it available over the counter, in part because it would remove parents from the equation. “ Teenagers are particularly vulnerable to access problems because it is harder for them to get to a doctor without a parent’s help,” Melnick said. “Almost 20 percent of sexually active teens who do not want to become pregnant are not using contraceptives, according to the Guttmacher Institute,” Melnick wrote. “And teenage girls who do not use contraception during their first sexual experience are twice as likely to become teen mothers as their counterparts who use protection.” Melnick did not inform readers that the Guttmacher Institute is affiliated with Planned Parenthood, a liberal pro-abortion organization. Melnick highlighted complaints that prescription-based access to birth control is “patronizing to women, limits contraceptive freedom, and is ineffective against intractably high teen-pregnancy rates.” But she never mentioned the fact that the pill does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Melnick glossed over the side effects of birth control hormones, suggesting that an over-the-counter, progestin-only pill “might be safer to use” than so-called “combined” pills, which include progestin and estrogen. Melnick’s report and others like it, including June 21 New York Times op-ed Ibis Reproductive Health President Kelly Blanchard, have joined what has been a month-long media celebration of the 50 th anniversary of the Pill. Media outlets have used the anniversary to provide one-sided coverage of the Pill, promote more potent hormone contraceptives and criticize abstinence education .
