One of the cool things about being on Teen Mom is that you make a lot of money. Like, a lot . The moms and the original dads make hundreds of thousands of dollars per season, if you can even believe it, and they also get to travel for free if MTV is filming, which is pretty neat since we've been seeing a lot more vacations on the show recently. But besides the show itself, cast members are pulling in crazy amounts of cash from all kinds of wild and crazy places. “Like where?” you may be wondering. Well, wonder no further … 1. Dang As we’ve said, the original cast members — the moms and the dads of their first children — all make the same amount, which is somewhere in the neighborhood of $350,000 to $400,000 a season. But what else does everyone do? 2. Amber Portwood Let’s start with reviewing Amber’s side hustles — this will be the easiest to do, because she really doesn’t have any. 3. Not Much She shares articles on her Instagram page, which brings in some money, and she did appear on that one season of Marriage Boot Camp a couple of years ago, so that’s something. 4. A Quick Hobby For a little while there, she got into flipping houses with Matt Baier, but she hasn’t done that since he’s been gone. 5. Forever Haute She did have that sketchy clothing company for a little while, Forever Haute, but she hasn’t talked about it in a very long time, and the brand’s Facebook page hasn’t been updated for a year and a half, so it’s probably safe to say that that’s done. 6. Well … Right now, she’s facing years in prison after assaulting Andrew Glennon, so she’s probably not thinking so much about her next business venture, you know? View Slideshow
For years now, Chelsea Houska has enjoyed her role as the most drama-free of all the Teen Moms. That may seem like an easy title to obtain when you’re competing with the likes of Jenelle Evans, but for a long time, Chelsea’s life was characterized by conflict and uncertainty, thanks to her relationship with Adam Lind. Fortunately, things have since settled down for the mother of two. In fact, ever since Chelsea married Cole DeBoer in 2016, she’s become something of an aspirational figure — living proof that the combination of teenage motherhood and reality TV stardom need not make a complete mess of one’s adult life. But on this week’s episode of Teen Mom 2 , Chelsea once again found herself at the center of controversy, as some fans took issue with a conversation between Houska and her mother, Mary. The discussion concerned land that Chelsea and Cole had purchased on which to build their new home. The plot is about 45 minutes away from where Chelsea currently lives, a fact which upset Mary for two reasons: 1. She’ll now have to drive for nearly an hour to spend time with her grandkids, and 2. Isn’t every part of South Dakota exactly the same anyway? (Okay, we may have made that last part up.) “I am just sick,” Mary said to Chelsea . “But I don’t want to make you mad and all crazy if I say something.” “Okay, mom. What do you have to say about it?” Chelsea said (with a bit of an attitude, if you believe some viewers.) “I just can’t … I don’t even like to talk about it. It’s just so sad for me,” replied a tearful Mary. “We’re going to be 45 minutes away,” Chelsea shot back. “You have kids that live in Florida and Texas.” “No, I know,” Mary said. “It isn’t so much that you’re leaving, cause it isn’t that far. But you gotta think of it rationally. “One, you’re only 15 minutes from me now, I’m by myself. I have to drive all the way down there after 5 [p.m.] cause I work til 5 [p.m.]. I can’t just get off, you know,” said Mary. “I just felt like it was too fast. You know, you kinda told me about it.” Chelsea responded, “I know, but you don’t know what we do and what we talk about and what we look at.” “Just don’t rush into anything. Just really really think about it, cause I’m not trying to like,” Mary said. ”I’m not trying to sound like I’m selfish, cause I kinda am.” “I understand how you feel,” Chelsea interjected. “But I mean, these kids are all I got anymore. I’m gonna cry,” Mary said, beginning to sob. “And just to think of you that far … I can’t get down there very much. I can’t go to every game. Or even in the winter, there’s no way I can drive — I don’t even now like to drive at night.” It went on like this, and Chelsea tried to end things on a positive note, promising her mom: “I’m sorry. We have to do what we feel is right, though. No matter what, we’re going to make it so you don’t feel like this. It’s not going to be as bad as you think it is.” Hey, anyone with aging parents can relate, right? Well, apparently not, as Chelsea was judged rather harshly on Twitter: “I [heart] Chelsea & she’s my fave mom, but the no sympathy for your mother when she’s that upset & crying in front of u is extremely saddening to me. I could never stand in front of my mother that upset & trivialize her feelings & get irritated about them the way u just did,” tweeted one fan, as pointed out by In Touch Weekly . “I love Chelsea but I HATE the way she’s talking to her mom.. #TeenMom2,” another chimed in. Some fans even went so far as to claim that Chelsea’s (allegedly) poor treatment of her mother is a result of Mary and Randy Houska’s contentious divorce several years ago: “Chelsea has always been so hard and genuinely sh–ty to her mom. I’m sure it’s a byproduct of divorce, kids take sides, but it sucks and it doesn’t look good on her #teenmom2,” And then there was the harsh critic who issued this devastating low blow: “Chelsea reminds me of Jenelle a little bit how she be talking to her mom,” the viewer wrote. Hey, there might be room for disagreement with regard to how Chelsea handled the situation with her mother. But comparing her to Jenelle? That’s a bridge too far, folks! Teen Mom 2 fans love Chelsea Houska for more than just her tendency to make great choices . She’s a good person and a good mom. This week, Chelsea got real on Twitter about how difficult and even impossible breastfeeding can be. Fans flocked to her to give sympathy — and to ask for a little advice. And Chelsea had some wise words for her followers. “I’m super proud of myself for nursing Layne for an entire year,” Chelsea announced on Twitter on Tuesday, September 24. “BUT dang…” she expressed. “It does feel good to be able to focus on getting myself back!” “AND she’s sleeping better than ever now,” Chelsea gushed. Her tweet concluded: “lol mamas out there…I feel ya! It ain’t easy!” Breastfeeding works better for some than for others. An entire year can be extremely draining. “7 months in and I’m ready to give up,” a follower confessed, expressing distress. Chelsea saw that tweet and offered a thoughtful reply. “It’s tough!” the Teen Mom 2 star affirmed to the frustrated fan. She admitted: “I definitely had days I wanted to stop!” “Take it day by day,” Chelsea advised. That’s good advice! But Chelsea’s very wise advice did not stop there. “And if you truly feel like you want to be done…then be done!” she counseled. That’s a very good point htat a lot of advice-givers might forget. Chelsea reminded the follower: “Don’t be too hard on yourself!” She’s already gone seven months, after all. Some parents can’t even get started on nursing. It happens. Notably, at least one of Chelsea’s followers believed that she was shading an, ahem, unnamed castmate. But we don’t think so. This was a personal announcement about how accomplished she feels now that she is once again able to go about her day. Remember, breast feeding doesn’t work like normal mealtimes, where you eat a few times a day. Newborns and even older babies might feed a dozen times in a single day — or more. Breastfeeding can be extremely difficult. Mothers who were unable to breastfeed in history had to rely upon other nursing mothers or risk losing their babies. That all changed with the invention of formula, but that too has proven to be controversial. While breastfeeding generlaly provides the best nutrition to a baby, formula can be life-saving for babies. And switching to formula or opting ot not breastfeed at all does not mean that the mother loves her any less than breastfeeding moms. The “right” age to stop breastfeeding can vary wildly. Many babies stop breastfeeding on their own accord. (According to my own mother, I simply “became too busy” to have time for regular feedings, despite having been voracious as a newborn) Other mothers struggle to wean their children. Then there are, and we mean this as nicely as possible, the weird moms. The moms who breastfeed their preschool and kindergarten aged children. Cultural, personal, and biological differences means that no one age is “right” for every family. Good for Chelsea for sharing such positive words with fans. Most tattoo artists will tell you that couples tattoos are a jinx. No one knows why, but it seems the universe simply can’t resist the allure of laughing at someone who gets permanently inked in honor of their significant other, only to watch the relationship crumble within a matter of months. To be clear, we do not think that’s what’s gonna happen to the Teen Mom franchise’s most stable couple. Still, Cole DeBoer’s tattoo commemorating his proposal to Chelsea Houska is a bit of a cringe. Cole shared his newest ink in an Instagram photo album on Thursday. “More additions from the master artist himself @robbie_portfolio51 the scene of me proposing to my beautiful wife @chelseahouska and one badass eagle!!!!” he captioned the pic. Now, before you race to the comments to flame us for doing the unthinkable and criticizing Cole, let us just say that the sentiment is beautiful, and the technical execution of the tattoo is very impressive. But relationship tatts are always questionable, and getting a scene from your life etched into your flesh in photo-realistic detail is a little creepy. Like, Cole now has a tattoo of himself on his arm. Again, we understand the motivation behind the tatt, but it just seems like the sort of thing that might not age terribly well. And we’re really, really hoping getting a tattoo of your proposal photo doesn’t become a trend. But hey we’re sure Chelsea appreciated it and eagles, as a species, are probably pretty happy with being depicted on Cole’s forearm. After all, this is the guy that recently saved Chelsea Houska’s life . And we don’t mean he swooped in and gave her new hope following her messy breakup from Adam Lind . We mean Chelsea was choking, and Cole swooped in and administered a life-saving Heimlich maneuver. Suddenly, your husband remembering to switch over the laundry like you asked doesn’t seem as heroic, does it, Karen?! Obviously, we ragged on Cole’s choices in skin art a bit today, but the guy really does seem like a decent and genuine partner to Chelsea and a truly devoted father. We’d say he’s the best baby daddy in the Teen Mom franchise, but that would be damning him with faint praise. As the wife of the disgraced Josh Duggar, Anna Duggar has suffered considerably over the years. But there’s some disagreement among fans as to whether or not Anna is deserving of anyone’s sympathy. Some say Anna married a known child molester , proceeded to welcome five children with him, and is therefore complicit in creating a very dangerous situation. Others point to the fact that Josh cheated on Anna and argue that she’s been kept in the dark about the majority of her husband’s nefarious behavior. Whatever the case, the mother of five remains a controversial figure — but this week’s mini-scandal has nothing to do with her marriage. Anna posted the above photo to Instagram this week with a caption reading: “The little Aunts ‘helped’ Meredith with some makeup for a girl’s fun day! #littleduggars” So we assume that some of Josh’s youngest sisters applied the 3-year-old’s makeup. We also assume a Counting On spinoff entitled Little Duggars is headed our way, but we prefer not to think about that at the moment. As is often the case with this sort of situation, the whole thing seems innocent enough at first glance. And indeed, several members of Josh and Anna’s inner circle seemed to get a kick out of the pic. “Haha little attitude!” Jill Duggar commented. “A true ‘threenager,'” wrote longtime family friend (and possible girlfriend of Jana Duggar ) Laura DeMasie. Josiah Duggar’s wife, Lauren Swanson, who suffered a miscarriage in October, also chimed in commenting, “So cute! Love that kid!” Anna replied to Lauren’s comment, writing: “Love you Lauren! We are so blessed to have you in our family!” So it sounds like the post was pretty well-received, right? Well, unfortunately for Anna, there were quite a few naysayers in the comments, as well. For the most part, they were people who don’t seem to have any problem with young girls wearing makeup around the house as a joke. But they do have a problem with the hypocrisy they feel is on display here. “Ugh!! Seriously should not be putting makeup on your toddlers!” wrote one follower. “I agree with the comment above about Josh the molester! I can only imagine what he does to his own children while alone with them. Seriously how can you not have divorced this criminal and rapist Anna?!?” Normally, we’d encourage that person to lighten up. Chelsea Houska just gave birth on the most recent episode of Teen Mom 2. Viewers witnessed nearly every step of the labor and delivery on screen. Despite having only recently welcomed her third child into the world, however, this veteran realty star isn’t satisfied. She’s ready for more, folks… only maybe not quite so soon this time around. “We definitely want more kids – at least one – but I think we’re going to wait probably a little farther than the last two babies,” Houska tells E! News in an extensive interview about her children and husband. “Maybe when she’s two, we’ll start thinking about it,” she said of new addition Layne. “But there will be more.” The Teen Mom 2 cast member’s oldest child, Aubree, is nine; and her middle kid, Watson, just turned two a few weeks ago. He was just barely a year and a half old when Layne was born, meaning things must be pretty darn hectic inside the Houska/De Boer household in a daily basis, Chelsea confirms as much, but also says that Aubree is old enough to almost serve as a third parent. “Oh my gosh! I honestly think that she makes life so much easier,” says the MTV star. “Having Aubree’s help has been amazing. She loves helping. She plays with her brother when I need her to. She can get his little boots on or something when we’re heading out the door so she’s been amazing.” And don’t get Chelsea started on Cole. Not unless you want to hear a wife just gush and gush and gush and gush over her husband, that is, as Houska has often done in the past . “I mean, Cole is just great all around,” she told E! of her man, just hours after viewers watched Cole be as supportive as can be while he wife pushed through child birth. “I’m more of the laid-back parent and he’s definitely more paranoid and worried all the time, which is funny because it’s usually the mom but I mean, he’s so helpful,” she adds. “He changes diapers. He gets in there. He does it all.” Not everything in Chelsea and Cole’s life is perfect, however, frequent appearances and quotes such as these notwithstanding. Going forward this season, Teen Mom 2 fans will see Chelsea adjust to having three young kids under one roof. We’ll also watch as she faces some major bumps in the road with Aubree’s biological dad, that troublemaker Adam Lind. “I definitely have my own opinion and my own opinion on things, but I have to try my best not to put my feelings out on her,” Chelsea saysc carefully about how little time Adam spends with his daughter. In very diplomatic fashion, she adds: “He’s still her dad. She still has her own feelings about it so I kind of have to keep my feelings to myself and let her have her own little opinion. “I’m proud of her for being so mature, but it’s not even something a kid should have to deal with. “But I think that we’ve always been so open with her and let her accept her feelings and try to explain things to her as best as we can.” Issues surrounding Lind and his inability to co-parent have persisted for as long as Chelsea has been in the spotlight. Look, Adam Lind is just not a good person. Not even a little bit. He’s been in the public eye for nearly a decade now, and in all that time, has he shown even one redeeming quality? Not so much. Quite the opposite, really. All the way back in the day, when Aubree was a tiny little baby, Adam wasn’t very nice to Chelsea or Aubree , although to his credit, he did see the kid every once in a while. In the middle of a fight, we saw him text Chelsea Houska to call her a “fat stretch mark bitch” and to “tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake.” Terrible, right? It gets worse! As time went on, he treated Chelsea worse and worse, and he honestly never seemed all that interested in being a good father for Aubree. Or even a present father, honestly. When he and Chelsea broke up, he mostly saw Aubree when she went to visit his parents, but for a while she went over to his own house, too. But then he started doing meth. And it goes without saying that things went downhill fast after that. We’re not sure exactly when his addiction began, but he failed a court-ordered drug test all the way back in 2017. We heard that things were so bad that even though he owned his home, he failed to pay his bills, so he just sat in the house without electricity, doing drugs. In addition to the meth, which we can all surely agree is enough badness all on its own, he’s repeatedly fallen behind on his child support payments . And then came the domestic violence arrests. His exes have said that he’s broken bones, pushed and shoved them, and poor Taylor Halbur said that once he killed some puppies her dog had . Like, he gave up custody of the daughter he shares with Taylor. He is not a good person. As for Aubree, at this point in time they’re going through a visitation center to spend time together. But as we’ve seen on this season of Teen Mom 2, he’s been missing those visits. Thank goodness for Cole DeBoer, right?! Chelsea and Cole have been together for several years now, and after they got married in the fall of 2016, he officially became Aubree’s stepfather. You probably know this, but boy, has that man stepped up for that little girl. One example of how he’s stepped up is Aubree’s annual Father-Daughter dance ! A few years ago, Aubree invited Adam to the dance, and he said he’d take her, but never showed up. As he told her later, he had a weight-lifting competition to go to instead. So Cole dressed up and took her, and they had a great time together. Now we’re pretty sure Adam isn’t even invited. We’ve talked about Cole and Aubree’s annual dance date before, but it’s that time again! Yep, last night was the big dance, and Cole took to Instagram to document the occasion. “Father Daughter Dance success!!!!” he captioned these photos. “I am very proud of who this sweet girl is becoming the older she gets!” “I swear she is already an adult,” he said. “In the truck on the way to the dance I told her, ‘you know that I love you and that I will always protect you and always be here for you whenever you need me!'” In response, “She said, trust me I know that.” He then put a whole bunch of heart emojis, heart eyes emojis, and crying emojis, because he is adorable. This is just the absolute sweetest, right? Literally everyone who commented on Cole’s post agreed. “You’re an amazing man,” one of his followers told him. “So happy Aubree has you in her life.” Another wrote “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her! Keep it up!” One person summed it all up pretty well with “I’m crying and I don’t even know y’all. How sweet.” And then, as always, the adoption talk began. “Adopt her already!!!!!” an excited fan pleaded. “You two deserve each other.” Another comment read “She’s so blessed to have you!!! I wish you could officially adopt her!!!” There were tons and tons of comments like these, about how Adam should hand over his rights to Cole so he could officially become her father. Really, that’s a definite possibility — that’s what Adam did with his other daughter . It would be no surprise at all if Adam signed away his parental rights so Cole could adopt Aubree. Have you recovered from everything that happened on last season of Teen Mom OG? Catelynn and Tyler's separation, Amber's postpartum depression, the introduction of Bristol and Cheyenne? It was a lot to take in for sure, but hopefully you're able to move on … Because a brand new season of Teen Mom 2 is coming up! In anticipation of the premiere, let's take a look at what's happened since the last season and discuss what we can expect in these new episodes. Just be warned … there is so, so much drama to break down. 1. What a Ride So let’s think about where we last left our Teen Mom 2 friends, all right? 2. Adam Problems In last season’s finale, we saw Chelsea deal with some visitation issues with Adam Lind — they’d worked it out in court that he could only see Aubree at a visitation center, but Chelsea found out that he’d been seeing her at his parents’ house while Aubree was visiting. It was a bad situation, but Chelsea worked everything out with Adam’s mother, so that’s cool. 3. Oh No, Leah Things with Leah were a little more heartbreaking, since we saw her take Ali to the hospital since she’s been having trouble breathing. Leah had a little breakdown about the situation, which was obviously understandable, but she got Ali a new machine that would help her exercise her lungs, and she also ensured that she’d have an aide at school for the rest of the year, something she’d been very concerned about. 4. Dealing with Dads Kailyn’s situation was quite a bit different than it is now — she was still having a hard time with Chris, and she and Javi were still in their kind of flirty stage before Lauren came into the picture and immediately got pregnant. 5. Just Briana Things Briana had just gotten some plastic surgery, and she had just broken up with Javi. We also got to see her have a heart-to-heart with Devoin, which was very sweet. 6. Dang It, Jenelle As for Jenelle, she was lying to her mother about what happened when she pulled a gun on that guy after following him back to his house and crying about how mean it was that MTV didn’t want David on the show. She said that he was her security blanket, and that she wouldn’t film if he couldn’t, and if the network didn’t like it, she’d gotten offers from Amazon and Netflix for other shows. View Slideshow
Bella Thorne is only 21, but at times, it seems that her career, such as it is, may have already peaked. Nominally, Bella is an actress, model, singer, etc., but like so many of her peers, Thorne’s most lucrative revenue stream is social media, particularly Instagram, where she’s amassed an astonishing 18.4 million followers. And like Kylie Jenner before her, Bella knows what makes the internet tick. We’re talking, of course, about nudity. It’s up there with funny cat videos and political outrage on the list of things people just can’t help but click. Unfortunately, it’s also a game of diminishing returns. The internet quickly loses interest in naked bodies it’s seen before and moves on to new nudity. Some young stars realize this and change tactics (hence Miley Cyrus’ rebranding as a sober, fully-clothed hippie), while others double-down and offer up more flesh than ever, which seems to be Bella’s strategy. Bella Thorne Is Naked We’ve seen Bella Thorne naked before, but never this much in one day. Both the pic and the video above appeared on Bella’s Instagram page on Wednesday, and the captions have left fans confused, to say the least. “So excited for the big release behind this shoot btw I’m wearing underneath nude bra and bathing suit bottoms for comfortability and it helps the whipped cream stay attached ;)” Bella wrote We appreciate the old-school emoticon, and we’re sure the Instagram admins appreciate the clarification that she’s not actually naked. But what does it all mean? “Thorne by Bella,” Thorne later added. “Gonna be a big release w this shoot I’m stoked”. Adding to the confusion is the fact that she’s posing in front of a neon sign that reads, “electric p-ssy.” Is she launching her own line of vibrators? Is she actually a sex robot from the future? Only time will tell. But hey, we can’t really hate, since it’s marketing tactics like these that helped make Kylie Jenner a near-billionaire . We suppose that’s another thing Bella has in common with Kylie — a preference for inappropriately old dudes. Bella is currently dating 31-year-old Mod Sun, just as Kylie hooked up with a Z-list rapper who was nearly a decade her senior back when she was in her teens. Look, everything’s legal here, and a 10-year age difference isn’t that weird in most circumstances, but if you’re 31 and you have a whole lot in common with people who are barely old enough to buy alcohol, it might be time to reexamine your choices. Mackenzie Standifer offered a couple of treats for her social media followers on Halloween. First, the long-time reality star provided fans with their very first glimpse of Jagger, the baby to whom she gave birth in October . It was a fleeting glimpse, mind you. Some might even take issue with this being labeled a glimpse at all. But… hey, there is a baby in the photo below, alright?!? Standifer simply included a black heart emoji as a caption to this image of Jagger and his 10-year old brother, Bentley, both of whom were out and about on Halloween night. Mackenzie has often used this same unusual graphic across her Instagram, prompting some to believe it’s meant as jab at Edwards, who continues to get into trouble with the law. But Standifer insists the emoji has nothing to do with her often-jailed husband. “So here’s the deal about my use of [the black heart],” she wrote two weeks ago online. “There’s nothing behind it except for the fact that it’s different from your everyday [red heart]. Sorry to disappoint. Lol. There’s no hidden or cryptic messages behind it… “It’s just a heart shaped emoji that happens to be black instead of red.” Oh. Okay then. Standifer made a return to Teen Mom OG this past Monday evening in order to discuss Bentley possibly going to private school with his grandparents. She and Ryan had previously quit the MTV franchise , with Mackenzie claiming the network didn’t want to be associated with a recovering drug addict such as Edwards. Mackenzie, never one to mince words, then shared a photo of Teen Mom cameras being set up around her home, writing in the caption that the scene being shot was “Faaakkkkkeeeeeeeeeee” and strongly implying that everything one sees on the show is fake. Sorry, “Faaakkkkkeeeeeeeeeee.” But Ryan’s run-ins with the law have been very real. Because he was arrested (AGAIN) for drug possession earlier this year, Edwards actually missed Jagger’s birth. According to various sources, he has never met his second son. There’s been talk (below) of Standifer leaving Edwards at last and taking their son with her, but she seemed to shoot down such chatter in an Instagram response last night. “Where is Ryan? As a fellow addict I wish him the best. Is he in treatment still?” a follower asked Standifer in reply to her Halloween picture, to which she directly responded: He is doing SO good. Proud of him. We think this is the first time Mackenzie has even acknowledged that Edwards is in treatment. Perhaps that’s progress, considering Standifer spent the better part of the last year insisting that Edwards was clean and sober following his 2017 weeks-long rehab stint. Despite the many times Edwards has faced drug charges , Mackenzie has continued to deny that her husband has a substance abuse problem. But he does. No one can say any differently now.
