What Is Palm Sunday?

View original post here:

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. The feast commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned by all four (Mark 11:1-11, Matthew 21:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19). A palm branch, usually refers to the leaves of the plant. The palm branch was a symbol of triumph and victory in pre-Christian times. The Romans rewarded champions of the games and celebrated military successes with palm branches. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves (often tied into crosses) to the assembled worshipers. The difficulty of procuring palms for that day’s ceremonies in unfavorable climates for palms led to the substitution of boughs of box, yew, willow or other native trees. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as Yew Sunday or by the general term Branch Sunday. On Palm Sunday, in the Roman Catholic Church, as well as many Anglican and Lutheran churches, palm fronds (or in colder climates some kind of substitutes) are blessed outside the church building (or in cold climates in the narthex when Easter falls early in the year). A procession also takes place. It may include the normal liturgical procession of clergy and acolytes, the parish choir, the children of the parish or indeed the entire congregation as in the churches of the East. In many Protestant churches, children are given palms, and then walk in procession around the inside of the church while the adults remain seated. Today is the beginning of the holiest week for many Christians. I wish you  a blessed and holy walk. How To Deal With People’s Hidden Agendas

Continue reading here:

Some people have hidden agendas: Goals that they wish to accomplish at some cost to others.  We live in a world that speeds out of control with people who are only concerned with what they need and how to get it. These agendas can quickly become quite obvious. What kinds of hidden agendas can people have? In scripture we are warned against people They might want to Make themselves feel better by putting other people down. Achieve a position of power or prestige at the expense of others. Control other people. Make other people feel bad about internally. How can you recognize and deal with hidden agendas? 1-     Pay attention-Watch what a person says or does, and see how you feel in response to it. If someone says something that may seem like some kind of compliment, but feels like a put-down, then it could be an action arising out of a hidden agenda. 2-     Confront it head on. If you confront that person about it (lovingly, of course), and they deny it or try to explain it away, give them the benefit of the doubt, but keep an eye on them. 3-   Identify the behavior-    If the same kind of behavior continues, and you confront them again on it and they still deny it or explain it away, but continue acting the same, then the likelihood is high that it is a hidden agenda. 4-     Define  a result- Decide what you want to do about/with that person. Do you want to keep associating with them? If it is a friend, you can drop the friendship—after all, what kind of friend continually tries to undermine you, control you, or make you feel bad about yourself? Be aware that it takes time to learn to recognize hidden agendas, and even more time to learn the skills required to deal with people like this. We all are motivated by something. It just depends on how we achieve our end results. We don’t need to destroy others to get where we need to go. Related Articles 15 Steps On How To Gain Real Power Gospel Song of The Day: All I Need

8 Steps To Help Someone Today

Here is the original post:

We all have had moments in which we wish we could do something.  The simple things in the world are the moments in which we connect to people on the most basic of levels. The moments in which we do something kind for someone else.It is the one things that empowers us and makes us better people . “Do for other people everything you’d like them to do for you.(Luke 6:31) . Smile and be friendly . Sometimes a simple little thing like this can put a smile and warm feeling in someone else’s heart, and make their day a little better. They might then do the same for others. Donate something you don’t use . Or a whole box of something. Drop them off at a charity — others can put your clutter to good use. Stop to help . The next time you see someone pulled over with a flat tire, or somehow in need of help, stop and ask how you can help. Sometimes all they need is a push, or the use of your cell phone. Comfort someone in grief. Often a hug, a helpful hand, a kind word, a listening ear, will go a long way when someone has lost a loved one or suffered some similar loss or tragedy. Buy food for a homeless person . Cash is often a bad idea if it’s going to be used for drugs, but buying a sandwich and chips or something like that is a good gesture. Be respectful and friendly. Send a nice email . Just a quick note telling someone how much you appreciate them, or how proud you are of them, or just saying thank you for something they did. Show appreciation, publicly . Praising someone on a blog, in front of coworkers, in front of family, or in some other public way, is a great way to make them feel better about themselves. Love . Simply finding ways to express your love to others, whether it be your partner, child, other family member, friend, co-worker, or a complete stranger … just express your love. A hug, a kind word, spending time, showing little kindnesses, being friendly … it all matters more than you know. I would like to know what you did today.  It’s a great thing to spread good news. 8 Steps To Loving You

You cannot expect others to love you if you do not love yourself. It sounds simple. It really is the root cause of why people have as many problems as they do in this world. They do not express the love that God gave them within themselves.  If we look at why there is such low  self esteem amongst our  people, it is because  we do not contain self love. There is a wonderful Gospel song that has the lyrics: “‘I Will… Bless The Lord …Oh My Soul… And All That Is Within Me …Bless His Holy Name”  If we can sing these words we must understand  that the blessings  start within me. Here are a few things  to  begin  your self love project. 1- Forgive You – I know people who have carried their mistakes with them their entire life, and as result they remain unhappy at the core. I know what it’s like to make a mistake and feel like you shouldn’t be forgiven, but that kind of thinking is nonsense. There is no action not worthy of forgiveness. 2- Stop Comparing Yourself to Others – I’m just as guilty as the next person in this area, for this is something that I too am struggling with even today. But as I’ve come to realize the more you compare yourself to others the less self worth you place on yourself Only when you stop comparing yourself to others can then you then begin to love yourself 3- Stop Seeking Approval- Seeking approval is similar to comparing yourself to others, and it’s fair to say that we all do it from time to time. I’m not going to lie and say I’ve never sought approval from my family or friends, but I’m also going to tell you that when approval was my main focus those were also not the happiest times in my life. 4- Believe In Yourself – Loving and believing in yourself go hand in hand. You can’t love yourself if you don’t believe in yourself, and you can’t believe in yourself if you don’t love yourself first. To fully experience what it means to live you must have a confidence in all you do, even during the times in which you come up short. 5- Trust Your Judgmen t and know that through both the good and bad you are worthy. Inside of yourself you do know essentially what is best for you and how to apply it. 6 – Practice Silence – Last week I wrote about discovering the true you in Silence. For me this means that I must remove myself from my natural environment in order to have peace and quiet. 7- Eat Healthy And Exercise – Part of loving yourself is allowing your body to be in its top form. An occasional indulgence in alcohol or some fast food isn’t the end of the in the world but making a habit of destroying your body is. 8- Express Yourself – Holding back on what you feel and how you feel makes you’re a prisoner inside. You do not deserve to be a prisoner. This is not what your Creator made you for. He made you to love, be loved and to know the world If you really want to change the world, if you really want to experience that life you’ve always desired, you must first love yourself fully, because all the advice in the world won’t matter if you don’t. It won’t always be be easy, but your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you will ever have. Make each day a day in which you continue to deepen your relationship with yourself and experience the life you know you were meant to live. The world depends on you to love yourself.
