Selena Gomez Reconciles With Ex-Friend Who Donated Kidney

On the list of good deeds that leave the recipient in your debt for the rest of their life, donating an organ is up there with pulling someone out of quicksand or letting them use your phone charger when you’re under 50 percent. So many fans were understandably shocked when Selena Gomez cut ties with Francia Raisa , the longtime friend who gave Gomez one of her kidneys. Selena suffers from lupus and a number of other health issues. She gushed that Raisa “saved [her] life” following the procedure, but shortly thereafter, the friends stopped speaking and unfollowed one another on social media. Rumors about the cause of Selena and Francia’s split circulated for months. Some of them were absurd, such as the claim that Gomez and Raisa fought over Justin Bieber . Others seemed to have more of a basis in reality — particularly the claim that Francia was upset by the fact that Selena was still drinking despite her myriad health issues. Whatever the case, it seems Selena and Francia have officially put their differences behind them. On Thursday, Selena donned a costume to the premiere of Frozen 2 with her 5-year-old sister, Gracie. Naturally, the singer documented the occasion for her Instagram followers: “Hope I’m officially the best big sissy ever now,” Gomez captioned the pic. “She was LIVING her best life!! Frozen 2 was amazing!!!”  For obvious reasons, the pic attracted many enthusiastic comments, including one from Raisa: “Omg! My heart right now,” Francia wrote. Unintentionally, the Grown-ish actress overshadowed the original post with that subtle indication that she and Selena have buried the hatchet. “Friends again, I’m gonna cry,” wrote one fan. Interestingly, the reconciliation comes on the heels of news that Selena has quit drinking at the advice of doctors and loved ones. While neither party has said as much, several sources have confirmed that Gomez’s boozing was at the heart of her feud with Raisa. “[Raisa] cares about her and she loves her,” an insider told Radar Online. “She told her that she was just really making some unhealthy choices, and that she was concerned for her.” The source says that while Francia never judged Selena, she felt she could not stand idly by and watch her friend make making “unhealthy” choices that might endanger her life. It’s unlikely that either Francia or Selena will offer a public explanation, but the important thing is that they’re friends once again.

Felicity Huffman Refused to Talk to Lori Loughlin Before Prison

Earlier this week, actress Felicity Huffman reported to prison to begin serving a 14-day sentence. As you probably know, Huffman is one of the famous faces of the college admissions bribery scandal . And while she’s the first celebrity to get locked up for the bribes she doled out in order to ensure her daughter a place in the school of her choice, she almost certainly won’t be the last. After all, Huffman accepted a plea deal and prosecutors still made an example of her. (Sure it was the lightest slap on the wrist imaginable, but they imprisoned a rich, well-connected white woman in America, which is no easy feat.) Conversely, actress Lori Loughlin refused a plea deal and is planning to take her chances in court. And we think it’s safe to say she’s beginning to have second thoughts after seeing what became of Huffman. Insiders Loughlin still believes she’ll be able to avoid doing time, but is now contemplating the possibility for the first time. According to a new report from People magazine, Loughlin attempted to reach out to Huffman recently in order to get a read on how the actress was feeling about her upcoming sentence. Not surprisingly, it seems Huffman didn’t feel up to having a chat: “She wanted to encourage her, and see how she was doing,” a source close to the situation tells People. “She feels like their fates are tied together now, even though they weren’t really friends before.” Sounds like Huffman just wants this whole ordeal to be over with and has no interest in commiserating with her co-conspirators. But like it or not, it seems she’ll be getting another call from Aunt Becky shortly after her release: “She wants to debrief Felicity after jail to find out what it was like and what her advice would be,” says the insider. “She feels like Felicity’s time in jail will be an indicator on her own time, and she’s extremely curious to know how it goes.” Not surprisingly, Loughlin is hoping Huffman will reassure her that life on the inside isn’t all that bad: “She’s definitely hoping that Felicity’s time in prison will go easy for her, because that will be a positive sign that, if Lori has to serve time, that she’ll be able to weather it as well,” the source says. “Of course, it’s still very important for her to be exonerated of all charges against her,” the insider continues. “She still maintains her innocence and hopes it won’t come to that. But if she does end up serving time in prison, she wants to know what she’s getting into.” Lori might still be holding out hope that the judge will go easy on her, but that seems increasingly unlikely. While her trial date has not yet been set, it looks as though Loughlin will be going from Full House to the big house sometime in early 2020.

Bronx-Bred Creative Tyson Hall Uses Art As A Means For Activism

The rest is here:

B lack artists often find themselves fighting for a seat at the table when it comes to having their work featured in exhibitions at renowned art institutions. According to a study conducted by Art News , less than three percent of museum acquisitions over the past ten years have been pieces created by African American artists. Despite the exclusion from mainstream galleries and museums, they are forging paths of their own, carving out spaces where they can share their artistry with the world, and using their work as a means for social and political activism. Bronx-bred visual artist and actor Tyson Hall is one of the individuals a part of a modern-day renaissance of Black artists who are reclaiming their space in the art industry and utilizing their work to uplift and empower their communities. Hall says his passion for activism runs deep. He was born in Washington Heights, New York across the street from the Audubon Ballroom where civil rights leader Malcolm X was murdered. The activist’s impact would later influence pieces of Hall’s work that echoed his messages of Black unity and the power of Black economics; pieces that were created decades after Malcolm X’s untimely death but are still relevant with today’s social and political climate. Hall—who came of age in the Bronx during the birth of hip-hop—has also pulled inspiration from the music genre throughout his career. His first art form was graffiti and then he decided to transition his canvases from MTA trains to sketchbooks. Hall was inspired by the political messages behind the music from groups like Public Enemy and how music mogul Sean Combs remixed soulful tracks from legends like James Brown to introduce that era of music to a new generation. He says incorporating the teachings of Black leaders from the past in his artwork to uplift and inspire the next generation of creatives is something that he strives to do through his work. It was the 1996 film Basquiat that drew him closer to the idea of using art as a form of activism. “Throughout my career, I’ve taken a lot of what our ancestors have said and done and remixed those voices through visual artistic expression,” Hall told NewsOne. “I did a series titled Buy Black where one piece, in particular, had four panels that read “Buy Black” and as you go down each panel it starts to disseminate. It was representative of the short life span of a dollar within the Black community and how we should do more to support each other.” Despite the powerful messages displayed through his art, Hall says one of the most challenging parts of being a Black artist is getting his work placed in galleries and museums. Instead of waiting for these art institutions to give him an opportunity, Hall has developed his own and has created spaces for his work. His pieces are on the walls at Harlem restaurants including Angel of Harlem and Corner Social and he has donated his work for auction to charities that include The Jackie Robinson Foundation, Abyssinian Baptist Church, the MOCADA Museum, and the ARRC. Going beyond the canvas, Hall uses acting as a form of artistry. His acting credits include Paid in Full , American Gangster , and Godfather of Harlem . He does motivational speaking as an avenue to empower inner-city children to use art as a means for change. He’s also developing a platform called SOL (Solidifying Our Legacy) Media Plus which is dedicated to educating, empowering, and connecting the creative community. As far as his advice for emerging Black artists, he says to “lock in and identify with your purpose as an artist to push forward.” SEE ALSO: Issa Rae Invests In Black Woman-Led Tech Startup Diddy Donates $1M To Fund New Bronx Charter School [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3888948″ overlay=”true”]

Jury Duty While Black: Black Man Hit With 10-Day Jail Sentence For Missing Jury Duty

Go here to see the original:

Source: boonchai wedmakawand / Getty A Florida man who has never been arrested was slapped with a 10-day jail sentence for missing jury duty,, prompting many online to speak out against the presiding judge. Deandre Somerville, 21, overslept and missed his August appointment which led to his arrest in court. Palm Beach County Circuit Judge John Kastrenak saw fit to give Somerville, a college student who has never been in trouble, was given 10 days in jail, 150 hours of community service, ordered to write an apology, and one year of probation. The sentencing prompted outrage on social media with many stating the judge went overboard. Those cries were heard as the judge lowered Somerville’s sentence although, adding insult to injury, he wants the man to serve as a spokesperson for the seriousness and responsibility of jury duty according to a report from the Sun-Sentinel . Somerville told local NBC affiliate WPTV that he learned a valuable lesson but that the experience has changed his life forever. — Photo: Getty

Jidenna Haggling At A Senegalese Market Is Proof He Needs A Travel Show

Read more here:

Source: John Shearer / Getty Anyone not following Jidenna’s travels through the Motherland on Instagram really needs to do so now! Our well-traveled Pan-African bae recently posted a video of himself at a market in Senegal haggling with a vendor over a hat. The 85 to Africa -rapper positioned the video as a tutorial on how to negotiate prices when you go to the market. In the video, we see him going back and forth with the vendor and bluffing as if he was going to walk away before the vendor caves and gives him the price he deems more fair. Jidenna’s travel videos come at a really good time, especially since it’s the Year Of Return, a concept that has been trending all year. And honestly, we just need for Jidenna to get a travel show already! View this post on Instagram For the hundreds of thousands of you in the Diaspora who are returning to Africa in December, this is how you don’t get ripped off as a “Yankee”. The strategy is usually the same but the style and intensity of your voice will vary from country to country (Dakar markets are more calm than Lagos markets, so I’m far less agressive here than I usually am ). A post shared by Jidenna (@jidenna) on Sep 22, 2019 at 5:34am PDT Anyway, don’t be fooled by how cool Jidenna makes it look. The market experience in the Motherland is a serious part of the culture. It’s something that you will probably want to put on your to do list, no matter what country your visit, but there are unspoken rules you should follow, and haggling is one of them. I have been to Ghana twice, as well as Togo, and the markets I experienced were sensory overload. I mean, people were selling literally some of anything and they have no qualms about getting all up in your face with the things they have to offer. However, while I did participate in haggling with vendors, I must admit, I was filled with anxiety, especially because you have to get really aggressive sometimes and I prefer to be laid back. Ideally, I just preferred that they would set one fair price and let me be great, but nope. Haggling is what they do, and if you are a Yankee aka an outsider, best believe they are going to jack up the price 5-fold in some cases. I traveled solo during my first trip to Ghana, and my driver was nice enough to accompany me to the market. I had a moment where I was so overwhelmed — because people will be trying to sell me things while I was still in the middle of another transaction — that I was going to just make the purchase at whatever the price was and my driver said absolutely not! He said that I was about to pay way too much money and that the vendor was a crook. It was a $20 Kente cloth clutch that I had talked down from $40, so I thought that was good. I was okay with paying the $20 but my driver demanded that we leave because he didn’t like the price. We got that down to $15. I had something similar happen during my second trip to Ghana. My friend’s mother, a native Ghanaian, scolded me and the vendor. She told me that the price was way too high for a shirt that I wanted, and that I should never settle because they always try to get over on foreigners. She then told the vendor, in Twi (Ghanians speak English, but prefer their native languages, and if you can speak their native tongues then you will yield better results), that she was being ridiculous. It took that moment for the vendor to relent and give me a price that was slashed by at least a quarter. Every time I went to the market after that I made sure to have a local person with me. In Togo, my group was hosted by an influential businessman from the country, and he was the only one who spoke the language (In Togo it’s French as well as various native tongues, including Ewe, and Kabiy é, among over 40 more depending on region).  He made sure that we got what we needed without the smoke. So, the more connections you have, the better. That’s my advice to you if you ever find yourself in an African market! Go with a local, stand your ground, and don’t be afraid to walk away if you don’t like the price, which will probably be marked up by quadruple. Nine times out of 10, vendors won’t let you walk away without making a sale so they will meet you in the middle. Now, go forth and get your Year of Return on! Also, would you watch a travel show where Jidenna explores Africa? High School Swim Coach Accuses Officials Of Policing ‘Dark’ & ‘Curvy’ Athletes, School District Responds

Source: CHRISTOPHE SIMON / Getty A lot of debate was sparked this past week over a high school swimming decision in Alaska. According to Anchorage Daily News , a Dimond High School swimmer was stripped of her victory last Friday after she was disqualified for a “uniform violation.” The National Federation of High Schools rule says that boys must cover their buttocks while girls must cover their buttocks and breasts with their suits. An official who oversaw Friday’s meet said the referee who disqualified the girl said she could see “butt cheek touching butt cheek.” This was the teen’s one disqualification out of the four races she competed in. Annette Rohde, an official who was present at the dual meet between Dimond and Chugiak, said she “froze in disbelief” when she witnessed the disqualification decision by the referee. “I told her, ‘I need to know how you’re defining this, because this is going to blow up,’” Rohde said. South High swim coach Cliff Murray explained that Anchorage High School coaches were told “that as far as the buttocks region goes, you should not be showing any part of the intergluteal cleft.” He continued, “If you’re in a situation where your suit creeps up, somebody comes over to a coach and says ‘hey, you’ve got an athlete who needs to adjust his or her suit,’ and they have that opportunity to fix it. And if they don’t, there are ramifications.” The school district explained that the disqualified swimmer “ was wearing the approved, school-issued suit during the race.” When news of the disqualification hit the swimming community, West High coach Lauren Langford slammed the decision in a Medium post, saying the girls’ bodies are being “policed.” She continued, “These young swimmers aren’t being punished for wearing their suits in scandalous or provocative ways, but rather, because their ample hips, full chests, and dark complexions look different than their willowy, thin, and mostly pallid teammates. Some will argue this scandal has nothing to do with race. But the issue becomes glaring when officials are overheard acknowledging that white athletes are baring too much skin as well, yet they’ve never been disqualified for a similar violation.” According to KTUU, the disqualified swimmer in question, 17-year-old Breckynn Willis, is of mixed race and is considered one of the school’s most promising athletes. “She’s one of three girls on the Dimond team who look like her,” said Langford . “Everybody else is in same suit, sized to fit, and yet on a team of however many girls she was the only one that got singled out?” Luckily, people in power took into account the backlash and according to Anchorage Daily News , Willis’ disqualification was overturned on Tuesday by the Alaska School Activities Association, the group that oversees Alaska high school sports. They made their decision based on the rule that says when an official finds a uniform violation, they must notify the swimmer’s coach. The ASAA said in a statement, “All evidence gathered, including the statement provided by the official, indicated the official did not notify the coach prior to disqualifying the student.”  The Anchorage School District also called the decision to disqualify Willis “heavy-handed and unnecessary” and was “based solely on how a standard, school-issued uniform happened to fit the shape of her body.” They continued, “We cannot tolerate discrimination of any kind, and certainly not based on body shape.” The district said they’re seeking to have the ASAA decertify the official who disqualified Willis and they want revisions to the uniform rule, saying the National Federation of High Schools swimsuit coverage rule “is ambiguous and allows the potential for bias to influence officials’ decisions.”

Zippora Lewis On The Beauty Of Pole Dancing & Stunt Doubling For Anika Noni Rose

Source: @MarioShotMe / @MarioShotMe Zippora Lewis first came on my radar in 2014. By then, I had already been pole dancing since 2012 so I was deeply immersed in the world of aerial and thought I had seen it all. However, I saw Zippora perform at a showcase in Atlanta and instantly fell in love with the Baltimore native. She was muscular, flexible, and feminine, three contradictory concepts that were all well-presented in one petite body. She had the entire crowd mesmerized with a sexy, bendy, cool performance to FKA Twig’s “Two Weeks.”   I have been following her journey ever since, never not amazed by what her body can do whether it’s on the pole, lyra , or even floorwork. Zippora has taught pole, competed and performed in many performances since my first introduction to her. She has also been a stunt double for Anika Noni Rose in BET’s The Quad , recently appeared on an aerial lollipop in Lil Baby’s “Pure Cocaine,” and she did stunt double work in the upcoming Starz series, P-Valley. Yes, pole stunt doubles are a thing! The nuances of the pole world are a lot more complex than people like to believe.  Zippora, in addition to her athletic life, has a thriving career in fashion. The Atlanta resident is a technical designer by trade, which means she works with factories and tells them how to create garments for mass production (yes, this skill does come in handy for her own costumes). Her resume includes Under Armour, as well as fitting athletes for the Olympics. Your girl ain’t no joke! And on top of all of that, she is as sweet as it gets! I have had the pleasure of taking classes taught by her and having had conversations about how she gets so bendy and fit because everyone always wants to know how she got such a strong, banging body! The most interesting part about this is, she doesn’t work out as much as people might think. Zippora says It’s about diet and learning about epigenetics. I caught up with the busy athlete to chat about how she fell in love with pole, what it’s like to work as a stunt double in this vein, and how anyone can transform their body.  View this post on Instagram Long training day. Flexibility, Pole, Endurance and strength. #5hours #exhausted When I have the time and energy I like to keep it basic but push myself past my limit to continue to build strength and mental and physical endurance. I just like to keep it moving and control my breaths along the way. Now I am super hungry. Meal prep will not be enough food today. She was a stripper and I fell in love with her movement. She was so strong. She was so flexible and she was super sweet. It was just so different. I was never an active person. I hated to be outside when it came to rolling around in the grass or anything like that. I didn’t know flexibility or anything like that.  So, I go to that class and just seeing her, I was like, “Oh my God!” I’ve never seen anything so beautiful, and not even the fact that she was a dancer, her body was beautiful. Everything about her and I mean, I’m I love men to the day that I die, so it wasn’t even on that kind of level. I just thought that she was amazing. I’ve never seen such art and something so amazing. So from there, I was like, “I’ve got to get into this!” and I just stuck with it.  And you ended up transforming yourself into that same person where people look at you in aw in the same way! Of course, you started from scratch but now people look at you like, “How did you do it?”  It’s funny you say that. I look back and I think about Body and I’m like, oh my God, I turned myself into Body [laughs], but she was everything. Even to this day, I pay homage to her.  I know where she is, I know her son, I’m like, you are the reason I live. She was just amazing to me. And then a year or two after I started, I saw an amazing pole dancer, her name is Jenyne Butterfly . I went to a competition or a performance, and I didn’t even know who Jenyne was but I saw this person and literally, I stood up and I cried. I just love creativity, and the first time I saw her perform, I was the only one standing. I was in tears. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen aside from Body because she was tiny, she’s just so pretty, she was of a different color. Everything! She was just like Body but she was different. She’s the only person, and I’ve met some people, that I ever get starstruck for. So the two of those people are the reason why I was like, okay, I’m going to stick with it because hopefully, I can be like them one day.    View this post on Instagram Be free to be you. Breathe, relax, and just be! #thursdaythoughts #atlantafitness #poledancer #yogaposes #blackgirlspole #blackgirlslift #blackgirlsyoga #naturalhair #naturalhair #flexibilitytraining #poleconditioning #beginnerworkoutmoves #legdayworkout A post shared by ZIPPORA (@zipporaflexpolefit) on Aug 15, 2019 at 7:14am PDT   I know you get this question all the time, but how often do you train including pole and other conditioning stuff?  I didn’t start working out until the last four years. I started to entertain a gym and I was teaching in a gym before I moved [to Atlanta]. So, I guess maybe like four-and-a-half years. I started to teach in a gym, just fitness classes because I was getting bored with pole and then I also had a studio in Baltimore and the studio was in a gym. So I ended up teaching pole dancing classes and teaching fitness classes, but even my fitness classes were a little dancey, too, so it was kind of like my own thing. At that time, I wasn’t really doing actual weights or treadmill or anything like that. I hated running. So, not until the last two years or so since I’ve been In Atlanta is when I really started to entertain the gym a little more frequently, and really, a little more frequently means two times a week and I only do legs. I don’t do any upper body because I get enough upper body on the pole. So, I only do it about two times a week. I focus a lot on nutrition when it’s time for a competition or if it’s time to get ready for a photo shoot or some kind of event.  I know what my body responds to and so I’ll cut out all the whites, gluten, potatoes, stuff like that, but then at the same time I noticed that I was getting a little too skinny on the bottom half of my body and my shoulders kept growing and I just didn’t want to look like an upside-down like triangle. As you know, we all end up looking like anyway [laughs], but it was just becoming too extreme for me, so I was like let me just try this whole thing and I immersed myself into YouTube videos of how to grow my thighs. So I was like, let me just try it. Let me just go to the gym and then it just took a life of its own.  You give people like me hope that I can have a banging body without working out all the time if I could just get my diet together.  Exactly. You can totally just diet for sure. The thing is, they say it’s 80% of your physique and it totally is. If you find that you’re cutting out certain things, you’ll start to see and feel a change in your body because most of the time it’s in your digestive tract. You know, taking in nutrients that are either you expelling from your body or you’re taking it in, or your gut that’s leaking . Not to be a complete science nerd but I learned about muscles and engagement and stuff like that and fell into learning about epigenetics and then learning about how certain genetic markers can be turned on and off.  Source: Mike Coppola / Staff / Getty Let’s get into some of the work that you’ve done. You were Anika Noni Rose’s body double on The Quad , and did double work for other people. How did you get into this type of work as a pole dancer?   Yeah, I did The Quad , and it’s so funny every opportunity, either a video or TV show just happened to be networking. With The Quad , that was such a fluke because a friend said, “I have this opportunity, just come and try it out.” Now, me, I am one of the shyest people you’ll ever meet, so I was like, “TV? No!” And she was like, “Just just try, it’ll be fine.” So I went and because I was just a little insecure, I didn’t feel like my body was where I wanted it to be at that specific time, especially when you just drop something on me on the fly. I was just flying in from Japan for work and she said, “You need to come in tomorrow.” So I’m like, “Oh my god, I’ve been eating all this rice, I’m all bloated and it’s not going to work out” but she was like, “Just come by!” So I meet the director and the actress and they just said, “Okay fine, you can do it!” It was just as easy as that and I’m sure it’s not as easy for everyone else but you know it was just the right time and place.  View this post on Instagram When there are no weights nearby…still never miss leg day. How long were you on set and do they just let you do your thing and figure out the rest with special effects?  There was some choreo. She actually had Torwa Joe from Vertical Joe’s as her choreographer to do the pole part of it. So I learned her choreo just so that they can overlap some of those moves but it was so odd and kind of funny because they also didn’t know what they wanted and they didn’t know what I was capable of so they just said, “Just do you, just go and do whatever” so I’m like, “Okay, no problem.” So I just started doing me and then the room got really quiet and I was so embarrassed. I come off the pole and like I said, it was so quiet and I’m looking around at the directors. Everyone starts laughing and then the director comes in and he was like, “That was amazing!” and I’m like, “No it wasn’t. What do you mean?” Again, I’m insecure because I’m like they don’t know what they want. It was probably like 30 seconds on the screen . I think call time was one something if I’m remembering correctly, and I didn’t leave until about 4:00 a.m. the next morning. So it was a lot of waiting around and things like that, but probably from the time we actually started shooting, I was there was probably from 8 p.m. until maybe 11 or 12 and then she too had to shoot after me. So some of the things that I did, she had to do and then, conversely, I had to fill in some things too. And again once you see it on TV, it’s just a few seconds. It takes a few hours to create and you need the endurance to maintain to make sure that your lines are great, your shapes are great from the moment you begin and it needs to look exactly the same.  What else are you working on when it comes to this type of work?  I did the pilot for a Starz series that’s coming out called P-Valley . I did the initial pilot. I wasn’t in the series because they wanted something very specific and ended up choosing specific kind of girls. There was choreo over there that was pretty specific but it ended up being partly that they just said, “Just do you, just as just do some moves,” and it was like several hours of time being on set and then even for that instance the speed for me when I pole is not slow but it’s in between like slow and fast. It’s very controlled but for P Valley they wanted very quick, very dancer stripper kind of speed, a little sloppy as strippers are and not how it is in a pole competition where you have to point your toes.  Right, competitions and Cirque Du Soleil are one thing, but at the strip club, no one is looking at technique [laughs]!  Right! So, they were like, “Get that technique crap out of here!” I’m like, “What do you mean, I need to point my toes!” At the end, they ended up being like, “Do you” and I was able to flex a little bit but sometimes it just depends because I am a bendy person. So, you know some things that I do, they don’t want that because it’s too pretty. It’s too artistic. They may want it a little harder so it just depends. So, like I said, these two times when I’ve done these things for TV, I don’t know if they were flukes or if it was just for networking or whatever, but sometimes people are looking for something very specific and I may not necessarily fill that void, or I may feel that for them.  I know P-Valley is actually about strippers, but it’s important to point out that people who aren’t in the pole world don’t understand it and tend to think it’s one thing. They think it’s only strippers and don’t understand all the nuances in terms of styles.  It’s true. I think because what’s trending now is strippers so that’s what they’re looking for.  How does poling impact your professional life? Have you ever had any issues with bosses or coworkers?  I was pretty scared about it when I was at Under Armour just because I didn’t know how people would view me. So, I kind of kept it under wraps for a very long time and also with what I wore when I posted things. I was pretty conservative about it just because I didn’t know how they were going to take it but everyone’s pretty cool about it and honestly, being able to pole and do fashion has given me such a diverse perspective on both ends of the spectrum. So apparel wise, when pole dancers have an issue about, this is pulling, this won’t allow me to do this or whatever, I’m able to have some insight there. But then on the flip side, now because I have such an active hobby I’m able to bring that into my profession. I can say an item is not going to work because when I’m on the pole or on aerial, this is what happens to this, this is how the garment moves, this is what it feels like, so I think my coworkers value it because I have a different perspective that no one else has. For example, this is the second time that I’m fitting athletes for the Olympics. So, I’m able to talk to them about their training, what they’re going into, what they’re doing, what they even want to wear for the Olympics, and I’m able to have a different dialogue than anyone else because I too am an extreme athlete and I know what the training is like and then I know what you’re expecting out of your garment or your apparel that day when it’s time to perform. So they feel like they also value that perspective as well because no one else in the office may even understand what a true athlete feels like and goes through.  What advice do you have four pole dancers who are interested in getting into the TV film world?  I would say don’t try to fit into a mold because when you are trying out for part or project people can totally tell if you’re not being your authentic self and you’re trying to force it. Authenticity is super important. And I also think that you just have to keep trying. Don’t let a no deter you from still trying to go after what you want. And I think networking also is super important. So just keep making sure that you get out there, that you’re introducing yourself to a bunch of different people and a bunch of different settings so that people can know who you are and notice your value and what kind of person you are because sometimes it really is about relationships. People may just say, “Do you know someone? Bring her in.” So networking is super important.  As pole dancers, I know we both get people who say they’re interested in trying it but they’re scared because they’re not strong or too big or whatever excuse you can think of. I always tell people that all the athletes you see started from scratch so since you are an amazing athlete, what would your advice be to newbie pole dancers or people who are interested in trying?   That is a loaded question! But I just say you’ve just got to do it. Don’t let yourself stop you from being a better you. Don’t get in your own way. You have to just make sure if that’s something that you want, if you want to get sexier, if you want to be stronger, if you want to get healthier, the only way that’s going to happen is if you make and take the first step, so you have to just do it. Yes, it can be extremely intimidating and there are people around you who are better than you at that time, but they were also where you were at some point. Sometimes it helps to surround yourself with people who are like-minded but who also can introduce value and help to teach you things that you don’t already know because that’s the only way that you’re going to grow sitting on the sidelines is not going to help you reach your goals. When I Was Younger: Mannywellz On Discovering His Calling To Music [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

Continued here:

At only 25- years-old, MannyWellz has toured with Jidenna , worked with Wale and already has a Grammy under his belt. He won in 2018 for a collaboration with DACA artists on the John Daversa Big Band’s American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom album.   Much like his contribution to the Grammy-winning body of work, Manny’s own projects embody the same soul and passion instilled in him at a young age. That is, God and love. His father was a musician and while he thought he’d be a soccer player who’d later tap into music, music tapped him sooner and we’re glad it did.   Why? Because he creates music you can feel. Listen:   His mission is simple: “I love God, I love music. I want to spread hope. I want to spread truth. And I want to have fun,” he said during our sit-down reflecting on what shaped him into the man he is today.   Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). Khloe Kardashian: STOP Telling Me How to Get Over Tristan’s Cheating!

Even though Khloe Kardashian insists that she’ll never hate Tristan Thompson , that doesn’t mean that she’s not hurting. It looks like someone — or several someones — has been offering up some unsolicited advice on how Khloe should cope. Khloe is making it extremely clear that sh doesn’t need or want anybody else’s suggestions. Khloe Kardashian has taken to her Instagram Stories to issue some advice to her fans and followers. “PSA: Please don’t tell people how to heal,” one of her Stories begins. Khloe’s words continue: “from something you’ve never been through.” That is fairly good advice. Unsolicited suggestions can range from annoying to downright torture for people who are suffering. If they want your advice, they’ll ask you for it. Khloe shared another message to her Stories, one that may or may not be related. “Be lowkey,” Khloe’s text reads. The post goes on to advise all readers to “Stay in your lane.” If you’re unfamiliar with the expression, it means to keep out of business that does not concern you. “F–k with yourself heavy,” the advice concludes. That means to be involved with yourself and to love yourself. Is it possible that Khloe is vagueposting about one specific person? Maybe Kim or Kourtney or Kris has been trying to tell her how they think that she should cope with Tristan’s cheating scandal. (Yes, heartbreak can still be sad, months or even years later) At the same time, maybe Khloe is speaking to her fans. Twitter randos telling her to do X type of yoga or whatever to feel at peace aren’t actually helping. Like, at all. As we mentioned, Khloe recently assured fans that she will never hate Tristan Thompson for what he did to her. “Why would I ever hate anyone who helped create such an angel?” she asked, referring to sweet baby True. “People make mistakes,” she affirmed. “But,” Khloe promised. “I won’t hurt my own healing by holding onto hate.” A number of people believe that hating someone is a sign of righteous moral fortitude and clarity. However, it appears that Khloe feels that hating someone is toxic for one’s own spiritual well-being. “I’m too busy raising my beautiful baby and securing that [money] to hate any individual,” Khloe promised. You know what? That’s fair. We’re sure that we’d have less time for resentments if we were filthy rich, too. The proud mother correctly observed: “Sweet True has always looked like her daddy.” She does and she is just as cute as a button! “She’s beautiful!!” Khloe’s message concluded. Unsolicited advice sometimes feels like “helping” to the giver, but it is often anything but. No one knows this better than the chronically ill and disabled communities, who are often given unwanted and even dangerous advice. So many people want to think that following a few simple steps or lifestyle changes can “fix” everything in their lives. Khloe’s hurt feelings aren’t going away if she drinks the right kind of kale smoothie or whatever. Let her address her own hurts in her own time. If she wants help or advice, she’ll make it known.
