Selena Gomez: Demi Lovato is SO Brave! I Love Her!

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were both Barney actresses before becoming Disney stars as teens. Since then, though, their lives have taken down different paths — each with their own claims to fame, their own successes, and their own struggles. Demi recently shared a lot about herself in a documentary, showing how far she’s come but revealing that she still has a ways to go. And who spoke up to praise her for her honesty and bravery but Selena Gomez. Selena Gomez revealed her Lupus diagnosis back in 2015. The illness, which was constantly mentioned on House back in that medical drama’s heyday, involves Selena’s own autoimmune system attacking her healthy organs, perceiving them as intruders. Despite modern medicine, Lupus can still be deadly. Even with drastic treatments, including chemotherapy, Lupus has taken its toll on Selena Gomez, forcing her to undergo a kidney transplant in secret earlier this year.  It was actually her friend, Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to Selena in a life-saving display of friendship and generosity.  Selena’s ongoing battle with Lupus has forced her to take multiple extended breaks from her career as an actress and from being one of the greatest singers on the face of the Earth. Honestly, as wonderful as it is that she was able to receive a kidney transplant, that’s not a cure. It’s a short-term solution for one particular problem. Some people are genuinely afraid that Lupus will claim Selena’s life. Demi Lovato has had more than her share of struggles too, however. In fact, Demi recently shared before and after eating disorder photos , highlighting her dramatic transition into being and feeling so much healthier. She’s also spoken at length about mental health — about bipolar disorder and especially about the debilitating effects of depression. Contrary to what some people might suggest, just because Demi’s illnesses are psychological doesn’t make them her fault. And it doesn’t make them somehow more deserved than Selena’s Lupus or anyone’s anything. Demi shared bits of her life and struggles in her documentary, Simply Complicated . But Demi also talks about how much personal progress she’s made. Demi promoted her documentary, which is on YouTube, via Instagram. Selena Gomez left an Instagram comment for all to see. “This was beautiful. I’m so happy for you.” Recently, Demi’s life has been full of many good things for her to celebrate. Selena’s praise continues: “You always continue to [be] bold and real. I wish more people were like you. Love you.” That is so wholesome. The world really would be a better place if more people were like Demi Lovato. Or like Selena. In the documentary, Demi speaks directly about her continuing battle with her eating disorder. “When I feel lonely, my heart feels hungry and then I end up binging and I don’t know how to figure out how to be alone.” A lot of people eat emotionally, even when they aren’t hungry. Demi’s situation is a bit more severe, which is why this is called a disorder. (Which means that solutions that work for most of us, like “oh I’ll knit instead of eating” or “just play video games that keep your hands busy” aren’t as helpful for people who might compulsively overeat) “One thing that I haven’t fully conquered is my eating disorder.” Eating disorders usually work a little like alcoholism — you might recover, but you never have a “normal” relationship with food. “Food is still the biggest challenge in my life. It’s something that I’m constantly thinking about.” That part is almost universally relatable, right? I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to eat today since last night. What makes it a disorder is that Demi has, in the past, struggled to stop herself from overeating — and then she dealt with self-loathing issues by throwing up. That’s bulimia, folks. Understanding that those battling mental illness aren’t just grappling with neurotypical impulses is important. It’s good that Selena Gomez has so much empathy for her friend. And it’s good that both of these talented stars are sharing their stories. View Slideshow: Demi Lovato: 19 Candid Confessions from Her Documentary

Pink on Christina Aguilera Beef: She Tried to Punch Me!

There's so much talk about Katy Perry vs. Taylor Swift these days that it's easy to forget the current queens of pop aren't the first to wage all-out war against one another. That honor probably belongs to a couple greasy-haired dudes who got in a fight backstage at The Ed Sullivan Show , but who cares about them? We want to rewind a bit, but not all the way back to the days when people paid money for music, like freakin' barbarians. This story takes us back to the early 2000s, a time when many Americans innocently thought we'd elected the biggest jackass president this country would ever know. In 2001, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, and Mya all collaborated on a cover of “Lady Marmalade” for the soundtrack to Moulin Rouge , aka The One Where Nicole Kidman Tried to Sing . Apparently, the former two got into a disagreement about who would sing what part, and there was very nearly a physical altercation. Pink has since attained the status of living legend, while Christina spent some time on that show with the spinning chairs. Anyway, Pink appeared on Watch What Happens Live last night, where she told Andy Cohen about the time that Christina tried to punch her: “We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I’m an alpha, and she’s an alpha,” she said during the show's “Plead the Fifth” segment. “I’m used to taking my altercations physical and she’s used to having them verbal. We’re just very different, we’re very different. And we were very young and new.” Unable to suppress laughter, Pink added: “She swung on me in a club. Hilarious … I was like, 'What's happening?'” Pink says she and X-tina are “fine” these days, which is something Aguilera should be very happy about. That would've been a severely one-sided fight.

Ho Sit Down: Food Network Announces That They Are Cutting Ties With Fat Racist Chef Paula Deen At The End Of The Month!

GTFOHWTBS! Earlier today Paula Deen released some half-a$$ed “apology” for “her past mistakes” , but her bosses have decided that it’s too little too late. Food Network Decides Not To Renew Paula Deen’s Contract After This Month According to TMZ reports : Paula Deen’s goose has been cooked at the Food Network. Officials tell TMZ they are not renewing her contract, which expires at the end of this month. Paula apparently was done in for her comments during a deposition in a civil lawsuit, in which she freely admitted to using the N-word in the past. Deen issued an apology this morning that bordered on ridiculous — it was heavily edited and frankly insincere. She issued a second apology shortly before the Food Network said it would not renew her contract Now Paula will have plenty of time to make more fattening, sugary, snacks that will kill her. Kelly Rowland airs out Bey’s dirty laundry… Kelly Rowland Talks About Beyonce’s Bad Traits Via US Magazine reports: All the sloppy ladies! Kelly Rowland submitted herself to a round of “Plead the Fifth” on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, June 21 — and the new X Factor judge, age, barely flinched when Cohen broached the subject of her most famous friend, Beyonce . “Tell me one thing that is annoying about Beyonce,” Cohen asked of Rowland’s Destiny’s Child cohort, 31. Giggling, the “Commander” singer said: “She would tell you this. She’s a slob.” Explained Rowland of Blue Ivy’s mom: “If you walk in — maybe she’s gotten better since becoming a mother — but she’s got a lot on her brain. You can tell she’s got a lot going on.” Rowland recently addressed Beyonce in song, of course, in her talked-about single, “Dirty Laundry,” where she lays bare feelings of jealousy towards Beyonce’s gargantuan success as a solo artist. “The song is really about me and she is one of the dynamics of course in my life,” she told Cohen. “At that time I was searching for exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t find it at that time for a second.” But Beyonce and fellow Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams both applauded Rowland’s honestly. “[Beyoncé] was just so embracing, so supportive and I love her for that,” she said. “I played it for Michelle and she was like, ‘Girl! This is great!’ so I had just Does she ever shut up about Beyoncé? Maybe if she wasn’t running her mouth and actually using it to sing and make hits she would have superseded Beyoncé’s superstardom by now. Continue reading

‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast Reacts To ‘Bonkers’ Season Finale

‘I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things,’ Nina Dobrev says of Thursday’s shocking episode. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Paul Wesley Photo: Valerie Macon/ Getty Images On Thursday night’s season finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” fans were treated to a thrill ride of plot twists, turns and OMG moments. With some cast members dying, others with lives left in peril and still others with secrets revealed, fans are left salivating to find out what will happen when season two returns later this year. And while viewers were left stunned by the road the finale went down, even the cast couldn’t believe how the season all came to a head. “There’s a bunch of cliffhangers and surreal, strange things that occur in this last episode,” Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy, told MTV News at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday night. “I think we all took it as a blessing to be able to play these strange situations that can never occur in real life and just feel honored and blessed.” Zach Roerig, who plays Matt, added, “Very eloquently said, right?” And Candice Accola summed up the episode, saying, “It was a bonkers finale — is everyone flipping out?” But what Accola wouldn’t dish on is whether Tyler (Michael Trevino) is a werewolf, an aspect of his life teased in the finale. “I plead the Fifth. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who knows? I don’t know,” she said, adding that she also doesn’t know what will happen to her character, Caroline, after the car crash. “I don’t know. This is going to be such a pain in the butt for you ’cause I don’t know. There is a car crash that happens, but I really don’t know the outcome of it.” The show’s male lead, Paul Wesley (Stefan), initially had his fears about doing so much in the finale, but he was truly pleased by the way it all turned out. “Well, I was like, ‘Whoa, this a huge endeavor,’ ” he said. “The last four pages … really take the audience on a little bit of a thrill ride. I mean, the whole thing’s good, but the way it ends is kind of incredible.” His love interest on the show, Nina Dobrev (Elena), agrees. “I remember sitting in bed reading the script, and when I got towards the end it was so [crazy]. Every single episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ I feel I am always shocked and surprised. … This one being the finale has to exceed all expectations and go above and beyond,” she said. “And I think it does, and it’s crazy and fun, and I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things.” Did you see the finale? What shocked you most?
