VIDEO: James Franco’s NYU-GradeGate Receives Gory, Hard-Hitting News Animation it Deserves

A former New York University film professor made headlines recently for suing the school, which he said fired him for giving barely present graduate student James Franco a D in his class. José Angel Santana alleges not only racist employment practices at NYU, but also that, “In my opinion, they’ve turned the NYU graduate film degree into swag for James Franco’s purposes, a possession, something you can buy.” Burn. Anyway, none of this would matter were it not for the requisite Taiwanese news animation showcasing both Santana’s firing and a reimagining of 127 Hours that’s quite possibly better than Danny Boyle’s film itself.

Angelina Jolie hates Thanksgiving , but she’s not a joyless person. The actress and partner Brad Pitt treated their children to a hot air balloon ride to celebrate son Pax’s birthday in Paris. The Vietnamese native turned seven! Pax, Brad, Angelina, nine-year-old Cambodian son Maddox, five-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara and four-year-old biological daughter Shiloh all took part. PARISIAN PAIR : Brad is also promoting Megamind in Europe . The balloon operator said: “They were like any other family. There was nothing out of the ordinary which made them any different from any other family.” He added that throughout the ride, the couple’s children were “excited but very well-behaved. What I think they wanted was a little moment of peace.” “Angelina is a very beautiful woman in person. She was friendly and spoke to me. Brad is very nice and very outgoing. He played a lot with the kids.” In the early evening the cosmopolitan family also rented the Josephine riverboat from Port Debilly, near the Eiffel Tower, for a cruise on the river Seine. They were AWOL on Thursday , leaving the kids with nannies, but Brad and Angelina were spotted taking Shiloh and Zahara shopping in Paris Saturday.

Britney Spears Conservatorship to Continue in 2011

Britney Spears will ring in 2011 and quite possibly beyond under the control of her dad, and the conservatorship is A-O-K with all the parties involved. There are no plans to end the conservatorship , which was created in February 2008 after the singer went off the rails, and has continued ever since. Don’t worry, though. It’s not bad news for Britney. As long as Starbucks runs are permitted, she’s all good. She’s “content” with the current arrangement and is no longer antsy to end it, since Jamie Spears has given her so much more space this past year. As for the pop star’s business affairs, Britney Spears, Inc., has never run more smoothly, so no one sees a reason to pull the plug on that, either. So … there you go. No news here. How ’bout these Britney Spears pics !

Score: The Hockey Musical Opens TIFF With Jaw-Dropping, Head-Scratching Slap Shot

Considering the dull thud with which last year’s opening-night film Creation landed here, the Toronto Film Festival decided to go more traditional with tonight’s fest opener. And while Score: A Hockey Musical is quite possibly the most distinctly Canadian product I’ve seen since, well, ever , there is no denying that this one also throws tradition under the Zamboni. It’s more like a hockey opera — and yes, that really is Theo Fleury doing his own singing.

Help Movieline Caption The First Image from The Tourist

The first official bit of marketing for The Tourist has arrived and it confirms one thing: Johnny Depp looks a whole lot like Eddie Vedder. The new film — which teams Depp and Angelina Jolie in a Hitchcockian tale of international intrigue and possible mistaken identity — is sure to bring the sparks and the dollars to the multiplex when it opens — which could quite possibly be as early as December. Other than that — well, that’s where you come in, Movleine commenters. After the jump, take a look at the full image and come up with something witty and/or moderately amusing for a Sunday afternoon. The best caption gets the praise and adulation of — well, me. Enjoy!

Get Miserable, Everybody: New Trailer For Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime

Admittedly, Life During Wartime ‘s U.K. trailer — its first overall — is coming at you a little tardy after first making its rounds late Wednesday. But the truth is that every Movieliner but me fell ill with misanthropy after more than a few minutes contemplating Todd Solondz’s latest, and I’m only now getting to the updated file on misery-cinema’s Patient Zero. And what have we here? Well, it involves people being cruel, clearly. And talk of China. And… it’s quite possibly terminal.
