5 NFL Teams That Should Consider Terrell Owens [ORIGINAL]

The rest is here:

Terrell Owens held a workout yesterday (Oct. 25th) to show that his surgically repaired left knee is pain free and completely healed from a torn ACL. Terrell looked great, running routes with his shirt off (surprise!) showing he was in tip-top physical condition from the waist up and catching all balls thrown to him (on camera anyways). Should T.O. Go To NY? The problem was no one representing the NFL showed up to watch. What does that say about Owens future in the league? What could this do to the psyche of someone that loves the spotlight? While I don’t think Terrell should retire, I do believe he should sit out this season and rest his knee instead of being a hired gun for the stretch run. He is more known for his reality show these days than football (the show is a guilty pleasure of mine) so he should prepare for next season and collect those residual paychecks from “ The T.O. Show “. But why should Terrell or any NFL owner listen to me? There are teams this season that can definitely use Owens on their roster right now. Here are my top 5: 1) Indianapolis Colts The Colts need a rewind button on their dismal season. Bottom line, they played like a college team last Sunday (Oct.23rd). After the defense gave up 62 points to the New Orleans Saints there’s nothing T.O. could have done to help. Easily on their way to falling below 10 wins in a season for the first time in years, it couldn’t hurt to give Terrell a shot. 2) Oakland Raiders They just signed one of Owens’ former quarterbacks in Carson Palmer and the Raiders are on the right side of .500 at 4-2. Seriously, I challenge you to name one of the Raiders’ wide receivers without googling their current roster. I couldn’t either. The Raiders can thank running back Darren McFadden and the recently injured quarterback Jason Campbell for their fast start. McFadden was sidelined this past Sunday and you saw the result: zero points. A Palmer-Owens connection can bring the offensive punch, give them a big name at wide receiver for the first time since Tim Brown and Jerry Rice were running routes together, and allow them to, in the famous words of their deceased owner Al Davis, “just win, baby!” 3) Minnesota Vikings I’m not trying to be funny, really (yet I can’t help but chuckle at the irony). If Minnesota were to take a chance on T.O. he would be reunited with the recently demoted Donovan McNabb . The Vikings have had success bringing in a former star trying to reclaim glory with Brett Favre so why can’t they do it again? 2 out of 4 ain’t bad (McNabb and Randy Moss in their returns were busts). Christian Ponder showed signs of greatness keeping the Vikes competitive against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers no less and Owens, who plays his best in big games, would give him another big target. However, I doubt coach Leslie Frazier would put McNabb (speaking of someone who should retire) through any further embarrassment. 4) New York Jets They were rumored to be looking at T.O. before the season began, then they signed Plaxico Burress. … same thing. They also have Santonio Holmes. Why not bring T.O. in and make it a troublesome threesome? Rex Ryan is the coach and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he shook things up. 5) Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb is not the quarterback anymore and Michael Vick will not get tired in the Super Bowl. The supposed “Dream Team” needs to wake up from a nightmare start and T.O.’s fire could be what gets them over the hump on both sides of the ball. Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin could learn a lot from the crafty veteran. The question is would coach Andy Reid go down that road again? Sure there are other bad teams that need T.O.’s services (Miami and St. Louis comes to mind), but Owens’ future Hall of Fame career has been built playing with elite teams (49ers, Cowboys, Eagles) and quarterbacks.  If he managed to leave all of those teams on a bad note (and they were winning), do you think he would suit up for the Dolphins just to get a pay check?  Even though his “workout” wasn’t set-up by the NFL, his reputation as a divisive presence may be another reason why no NFL scouts showed up. Owens may have a lot left in the tank, but once you start signing a string of one year contracts with different teams in any sport the end may be near whether he likes it or not. Better start getting that speech ready. RELATED: Angry Fan Says Terrell Owens Is Down With The Illuminati [VIDEO] Terrell Owens Holds Workout, Nobody Cares T.I., Basketball Wives L.A. Jets Reportedly Willing To Give Revis $100 Million Contract But Not $16+ Million Per Year

Bob Glauber of Newsday reports the Jets are indeed willing to give Darrelle Revis the largest contract ever given to a defensive back suggesting they’re willing to go as high as $100 million . Revis has three years and about $21 million remaining on his current contract but is set to make just $1 million in 2010. Per Glauber, the Jets just don’t want to pay him “Asomugha money” — the deal the Raiders cornerback got which averages $16.2 million per year. What the Jets appear ready to do instead is add six years to the existing deal, a total package that, when added to the remaining $21 million Revis is owed would approach $100 million or more. That deal, which would average around $12 million per season, would keep Revis with the Jets until he is 33. For now, they don’t appear to be close on getting a deal done. Revis has publicly stated his desire to have a deal that is above Asomugha’s $16.2 million per year.

NFL, NFLPA Strip The Jaguars One Week Of OTAs For Rules Violations

As many people may not know, OTAs in the NFL are non-contact and there are certain other limitations for the practices such as how long the players can be on the field. In 2007, the Raiders were busted for violating those rules. Three years passed before another team was caught breaking the OTA rules. This year, as the league and the union enter into CBA negotiations, two teams — Raiders and Ravens — have been penalized for violating the rules. Today, the Jaguars make three. “The NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association have resolved a complaint by the Players Association against the Jacksonville Jaguars concerning violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement’s offseason workout rules,” the NFL said in a statement to be released Thursday morning. “It was determined that the Jaguars violated the rules concerning the intensity and tempo of drills conducted on the club’s organized team activity days (“OTA days”). “As a result, the Jaguars will forfeit a week of their offseason program (June 21-25, 2010). Jaguars players are not permitted to be at the facility on those days, but will be paid for the sessions. The club cannot reschedule the cancelled days.” The most likely way this goes down is that a player feels the practice is too intense or that the team has violated the spirit of OTAs in some fashion. They would then tell the NFLPA, who would approach it with the league.

Ice Cube’s ‘Straight Outta L.A.’ Documentary Premieres On ESPN

Rapper directed film about the 1980s Oakland Raiders and their influence on hip-hop culture in South-Central L.A. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Ice Cube Photo: Columbia When it comes to Ice Cube’s place in hip-hop history, he’ll be remembered for three distinct things: his scowl, his jerry curl and his black Los Angeles Raiders cap. Specifically, the legendary N.W.A. lyricist made the brooding football team’s logo — an eye-patched pirate adorned in silver and black with crossed swords in the background — a symbol in rap lore, long before Jay-Z did the same years later with the Yankees fitted hat. And in Cube’s documentary, “Straight Outta L.A.,” the veteran MC combines his two loves, rap and the Raiders, and delivers an insightful examination the tangled rise of two multimillion-dollar franchises, the Raiders and gangsta rap. “Nothing impacted my life more than the Raiders moving to L.A.,” Ice Cube told MTV News of the controversial relocation of the Oakland team in 1982. “Being in N.W.A. [at the time], we were trying to figure out what we were going to do to let people know we were a group. So we decided to wear [all] black. Then I started wearing the Raiders hats. Then, next thing you know, Eazy would show up in Raiders gear. It just became a thing.” In the production, premiering Tuesday night (May 11) on ESPN as part of their “30 for 30” film series, Cube weaves the story of the outlaw Raiders team, which won a championship with their tough style, and the poverty-stricken Southern California that spawned acts like N.W.A. The attitude players like Howie Long and Marcus Allen brought every Sunday helped power the swagger of a young Cube, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. “That team represented the L.A. I knew,” Cube explained. “It wasn’t the ‘Showtime’ Lakers, where people saw the glitz and the glamour. It wasn’t the ’84 Olympics. It was a little more grimy, and the Raiders represented that, in South Central [where they played]. They had the whole city on lock. To me, [this project] is the true representation of music and sports.” Are you excited to watch the Ice Cube-directed “Straight Outta L.A.” documentary? Let us know in the comments!
