Whoopi Goldberg has renounced the label of “African American.” Instead, she prefers simply “American.” The star made the proclamation on The View this week, after co-host Joy Behar predicted many Americans would leave the country if Donald Trump became president. “You know what, uh-uh! This is my country,” said Goldberg. “My mother, my grandmother, my great-grand folks, we busted ass to be here. I’m sorry. I’m an American. I’m not an African-American, I’m not a chick American, I’m an American!” Raven-Symone quickly chimed in with, “I’m an American. I’ve been here too long to not just hold American.” In fact, Goldberg may have gotten the idea from her young co-host. In 2014, Raven-Symone expressed nearly the exact same sentiment as Goldberg’s during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying, “I’m tired of being labeled. I’m an American. I’m not an African American; I’m an American.” Naturally, the Twittersphere had something to say. While some agreed whole-heartedly with the, um, American co-hosts, others accused the two of abandoning their heritage. Goldberg may need to do a little PR cleanup after her comments, but she can’t be surprised at the backlash. Raven-Symone had also come under fire from the black community after she made her statements two years ago. She explained that her words were taken the wrong way, and that she wasn’t trying to deny her ethnicity , just a term she didn’t care for. “I never said I wasn’t black. I said I wasn’t African American and to me, that’s a difference.” View Slideshow: 13 Celebrity N-Word Scandals

ABC has stated that no amount of Raven-Symone‘s on-screen shenanigans will get them to kick her off of “The View. Raven has managed to go from one of our favorite young stars to an insufferable TV personality who continues to make completely outrageous statements. Even her own father has stated that she often says some […]
Talk about a dick move! Literally! An El Paso, Texas school teacher is in the news this week because she drew a penis on a student's assignment, yet will somehow not lose her job as a result of this action. The student’s mother, Sandra Green, discovered the phallic piece of “art” work on her sons’s social media account and told her local ABC affiliate that Chapin High School language arts teacher Kim Juzdowski admitted to the drawing in a contrite email. She apparently went through with it the student “wasn’t doing anything in class.” Which we guess is a metaphor for jerking off. She gets points for originality. But loses many more points for being totally out of line and possibly a tad mentally unbalanced. A spokesperson with the El Paso Independent School District told The Huffington Post that Juzdowski “understands that the drawing was in bad taste and that it was inappropriate for the type of relationship a teacher should have with a student.” That's nice and all… but that's it. Yes, according to reports. She will not face any kind of discipline. She definitely won't lose her job, we know that much. Green believes the lack of punishment is rather absurd and is looking to have her son transferred. And she brings up a pretty good point in the following video report: Imagine if gender roles were reversed here. Imagine if a male teacher drew a pair of breasts or a vagina on a female student's paper. It's not a question then whether or not the teacher would be fired. It's only a question of how hard the door would hit him on the way out.
Raven-Symone is in hot water today for comments she made on After the View . The former actress – who has never met an opinion she did not share – addressed the controversy surrounding a Spring Valley High School student who was violently arrested this week and said the following: “The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone. “There’s not right or reason, for him to be doing this type of harm. That’s ridiculous. But at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cell phones in school? “This shouldn’t even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been acting like that on top of it.” Why is Raven-Symone receiving backlash for these comments? Just watch the video of the incident in question and it should be easy to understand: Officer Violently Arrests Student in Classroom, Celebrities React Perhaps the student should not have been on her phone. And perhaps the school ought to change its cell phone policy in general. But these are separate points. The young woman could have broken a rule and still not have deserved THAT. Because THAT was utterly insane and ridiculous and uncalled for. Spring Valley High School resource officer Ben Fields slammed an African-American student on the ground and dragged her across the room. Not because his life was in danger or because the student was exhibiting any sort of physical threat toward anyone. But because she was on her phone?!? Come on, Raven-Symone. You’re smarter than this.
He’s back like he never left. Since the devastating car crash that left him critically injured in 2014, Tracy Morgan returned to television last night to host SNL. Some may have wondered whether he was up to the task, and Tracy addressed the doubters with humor in his opening monologue: “People were wondering: Can he speak? Does […]
