Source: Facebook / facebook The police officer that murdered Atatiana Jefferson inside her apartment has resigned from his post before he could be fired according to new reports. Fort Worth officer Aaron Den was slated to be fired according to the department’s chief. As reported by local outlet CBSDFW.com, Dean, who shot and killed Jefferson inside her home after performing a welfare check on the apartment early last Saturday, was going to be fired Monday according to a press conference statement from Chief Ed Kraus. As has been widely reported, Dean entered the apartment where Jefferson was playing video games with her nephew before the officer unloaded his weapon and fatally shooting her. Kraus says that Dean resigned before he was interviewed by the department and that he expects the officer to face criminal charges, which many activists on social media have called for. Kraus adds that he sent the matter over to the FBI to examine whether or not civil rights violations occurred. — Photo: Facebook

Jeannie Mai has opened up about the most personal and difficult of topics. In footage from The Real co-host’s YouTube series, Hello Hunnay , Mai sits down alongside her mother and talks about the reason why the two didn’t talk for many years. While explaining this past rift in their relationship, Mai reveals she was sexually abused by a male family member starting at the age of 9. “We’ve talked before that we had a major falling out when I was about 16 until I was 24,” Mai says in the clip below, adding: “I’ve never actually talked about that incident with my mom since then. We’re talking for the first time about how that affected us.” From there, the 40-year old explains that this abuse began shortly after her second brother was born — and her mother was forced to take on a second job in order to help pay the bills. “We needed to find a babysitter, so we called upon a family member,” Mai says. “He came over every single day and stayed with me after school.” Mai never names her abuser. She simply says he was “16 or 17″ at the time he committed this actor and that she really looked up to him at the time. That is, of course, the following took place. “I just remember one day this person sitting very close to me, we were playing video games, and he started to touch my thigh,” Mai details in the chat with her mom below. Just truly awful stuff. Jeannie goes on to say she rationalized this experience by convincing herself that because he was a family member, it was okay. “I was also just stunned because I had never been intimately touched like that so I couldn’t tell if it was wrong, I just knew I was noticing it.” As the days progressed, however, Mai says the touching progressed into him taking off her clothes, exposing himself to her and instructing her on how to touch him. Like we said: just awful stuff. “I remember him pulling me into that shower and it was the first time I have a seen a grown man and what he looked like,” she says here. “I remember him telling me to touch him in certain ways.” Mai continues: “This happened every day for a few weeks, and then it turned into months and I remember one year going by. I didn’t say anything because I was afraid.” Around the age of 13, Mai finally told her mom what had been going on. She pleaded for a new babysitter. But her mother didn’t understand what her daughter was saying or refused to believe it — even years later when the abuse became even more “aggressive,” according to Mai … and she once again tried to speak to her parent about it. “I began to get angry because now I’m telling my mom that he’s taking off my clothes and you said, ‘I don’t believe you,’” she says. Her mother admits in this video that she was in denial about the relative. Jeannie Mai, The Real Host, Discusses Abusive Past “I felt by myself,” Mai explains, adding that she left home at the age of 16 and didn’t talk to her mom for nine years. “All I can say is I’m really sorry,” her mom says in response, telling Mai for the first time that she finally confronted the abuser many years later and he begged her not to turn him in to the police. “That right there is all I needed to know,” Mai says through tears. “That you believed me and you listened and that you would go and try and do something about it. “I just needed your support. I feel like you just set something free inside of me because you believed me.” Mai and her mom have repaired their relationship and the former concludes that she has shared her story in order to help or inspire others. “We hope that this can help you connect more with your mom, grow better and closer to your family and help your heal however you need to inside,” she says.

Jeannie Mai is opening up about a traumatic experienc e from her childhood that caused her to stop speaking to her mom for over 10 years. In a recent youtube clip, Jeannie says around the age of 9 her mom took on a second job, leaving her in the care of her abuser. We needed to find a babysitter, so we called upon a family member. He came over every single day and stayed with me after school.” She does not name her abuser, but Jeannie says he was “16 or 17” and became an “iconic person” in her life who she looked up to at the time. Her mom also thought he was a well-behaved teenager and was being helpful at the time. “I just remember one day this person sitting very close to me, we were playing video games, and he started to touch my thigh. I was also just stunned because I had never been intimately touched like that so I couldn’t tell if it was wrong, I just knew I was noticing it.” As the days went on, Jeannie says the touching progressed into him taking off her clothes, exposing himself to her and instructing her on how to touch him. When she told her mom, she didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for. “I remember him pulling me into that shower and it was the first time I have a seen a grown man and what he looked like,” she recalls. “I remember him telling me to touch him in certain ways. This happened every day for a few weeks, and then it turned into months and I remember one year going by,” she adds. “I didn’t say anything because I was afraid I began to get angry because now I’m telling my mom that he’s taking off my clothes and you said, ‘I don’t believe you. Unfortunately, Mama Mai’s denial of the situation caused the abuse to continue. Jeannie eventually ran away from home at 16. “When I don’t believe it, I just let it go,” says Mama Mai, explaining that what she was hearing from her daughter didn’t match up with the person she thought she knew. “I don’t see anything bad about him.” Here is the entire video of Jeannie’s explaining what she went through. It’s an emotional video.
Source: Robert Reiners / Getty Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins is out here collecting more coins than Mario. It is being reported the ridiculously popular Twitch streamer was paid $1 million to play EA’s new battle royale game Apex Legends. Who said playing video games doesn’t pay the bills? It was widely known that the EA enlisted the help of the video game streaming community to help get the word out about Apex Legends , but people still wondered exactly how much did the studio pay these individuals? A new Reuters report is claiming that EA backed up the Brinks truck for Ninja giving the Fortnite legend a $1 million to play and Tweet about the game on February 5th oh and reportedly he wasn’t obligated to for a long time either. While this seems a bit extreme to help promote a game an EA spokesperson told Kotaku that any gameplay after “midday” was “completely organic” if they kept playing the game. The amount of money he pulled in reportedly to play Apex is significantly higher than what he usually pulls in. Ninja revealed to CNN that he was pulling in $500,000 and hinting at bringing even more than that on a “good day.” Keep in mind that is split between his Twitch, YouTube streams, and sponsorships. There is no word on how much the other streamers were paid, but it would seem that EA’s efforts paid off as Apex broke Fortnite’s record for reaching 10 million players in 72 hours of its release. While this practice might is a tad bit shady, don’t be shocked if other game studios looking to get the word out about its game will go the same route and rely on streamers cause clearly it works. — Photo: Robert Reiners / Getty
Source: Jean Catuffe / Getty The GOAT (debate your auntie) Michael Jordan used to be a mythical figure when it came to video games because he wasn’t in a lot of the NBA related games after Bulls vs. Blazers . Since his inclusion in games like NBA Street and NBA 2K , it would seem he is warming up to the medium and now has invested in an e-sports organization. On Thursday (Oct 25), Jordan was announced as a major investor with the e-sports organization aXiomatic who own the formidable Team Liquid. MJ will join the board which includes other sports franchise owners Peter Guber, co-owner of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers and Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards and NHL’s Washington Capitals. This is a very significant move for Jordan who initially opted not to be apart of the NBA’s embrace of the virtual hardtop when he decided to drop out of the players association’s group license. We had to play with roster guard on the Bulls for many years because of that decision. Jordan might be embracing the e-sports arena now, but his Charlotte Hornets are still one of the remaining franchises that do not have a team in the NBA 2K League . We expect to that change soon. Jordan isn’t the only NBA star to put their coins in growing sport. Shaquille O’Neal , Stephen Curry, and Mark Cuban also have invested in e-sports organizations as well. There is gold in them darn electronic hills and these athletes and executives definitely see it and want their share of it. — Photo: Jean Catuffe / Getty

Simpson was ordered to pay Goldman $33.5 million, which has ballooned to more than $70 million. This latest attempt to collect stemmed from the ex-football star selling autographs after his prison release in October for armed robbery. The money he earned from the autograph sales went to pay off legal bills, one of Simpson’s lawyers told the court. The court denied Goldman’s request to collect money from the autograph sale because he could not identify who paid Simpson. One of Goldman’s lawyers has described Simpson’s legal team as masterful at protecting his assets from collection. The lion’s share of The Juice’s remaining wealth is in pension funds that Goldman cannot touch. The lawyer also speculated that Simpson’s team has set up offshore accounts to hide money. However, over the two decades since the judgment, Goldman seized some of Simpson’s money, such as royalties from video games and the rights to a ghostwritten book.
