His Airness, Michael Jordan Invests His Coins In Popular E-Sports Organization

Source: Jean Catuffe / Getty The GOAT (debate your auntie) Michael Jordan used to be a mythical figure when it came to video games because he wasn’t in a lot of the NBA related games after Bulls vs. Blazers . Since his inclusion in games like NBA Street and  NBA 2K , it would seem he is warming up to the medium and now has invested in an  e-sports organization. On Thursday (Oct 25), Jordan was announced as a major investor with the e-sports organization aXiomatic who own the formidable Team Liquid. MJ will join the board which includes other sports franchise owners Peter Guber, co-owner of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers and Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards and  NHL’s Washington Capitals. This is a very significant move for Jordan who initially opted not to be apart of the NBA’s embrace of the virtual hardtop when he decided to drop out of the players association’s group license. We had to play with roster guard on the Bulls for many years because of that decision. Jordan might be embracing the e-sports arena now, but his Charlotte Hornets are still one of the remaining franchises that do not have a team in the NBA 2K League . We expect to that change soon. Jordan isn’t the only NBA star to put their coins in growing sport. Shaquille O’Neal , Stephen Curry, and Mark Cuban also have invested in e-sports organizations as well. There is gold in them darn electronic hills and these athletes and executives definitely see it and want their share of it. — Photo: Jean Catuffe / Getty

Lottie Moss is a Model Because Her Last Name is Moss of the Day

I find it interesting that anyone can become a model nowadays – thanks to social media and a last name. You don’t need to have anything that makes you look like a model. You don’t need to be tall or sickly skinny or interesting looking. You just need those followers, that last name, a Half Sister with connections from being one of the most popular models, paving the way for you to scam your way into being a model, without having anything substantial about you….and it fucking works…because people are flimsy morons who don’t care about value or substance, and just take what’s given to them, or what they are told to take, because they are lazy minds, drones even, trained to double click photos, but not to push the boundaries of content or humanity to do interesting things… I feel like I live on a Disney set….and funny enough on this Disney set is a hell of a lot of women far more amazing that Lottie Moss…and I like all women….yet they just don’t have the right last name or half sister to create them….. I understand nepotism, keep the rich richer, but this inclusion is nonsense, it’s like this girl isnt’ hot enough to be a top model, why give her the job, cuz she asks? Put her in the office, or behind the scenes, or like a back-up dancer because she can’t actually sing…where singing is standing around and posing for the camera… She’s not Kate Moss…but she can pretend she is because people hiring her apparently do. Publisher McGraw-Hill To Rewrite Textbooks After Black Mom Complains That Book Called Slaves “Immigrant Workers”

McGraw-Hill To Rewrite Textbooks After Mom Complains About Slavery Term Book publishing giant McGraw-Hill is saying it will rewrite a textbook after a Pearland mother voiced concerns on YouTube about the portrayal of slaves as immigrant “workers” in her son’s school book . Via ABC 7 Chicago : In the video, Texas mom Roni Dean-Burren calls out the textbook, “World Geography.” Dean-Burren pointed viewers to a section called “Patterns of Immigration.” Reading from the book, she notes the inclusion of slaves as immigrants. “‘Immigrants,’ yeah, that word matters,” Dean-Burren said, “(Reading from the text) ‘The Atlantic slave trade between the 1500s and the 1800s brought millions of workers from Africa to the southern United States to work on agricultural plantations. So (slavery) is now considered ‘immigration’.” She adds, in an adjacent section on European immigrants, that many came as “indentured servants to work for little or no pay.” Dean-Burren continues, “So they say that about English and European people, but there is no mention of Africans working as slaves or being slaves. It just says we were workers.” Dean-Burren also pointed out in her video that several professional consultants and the Texas Advisory Board are listed in the front of the book, and supposedly signed off on the book’s text. McGraw-Hill responded to Dean-Burren on its Facebook page, saying they would fix the section in the next print run and on their digital version of the book. Facebook/YT

Question Of The Day: How Would Your Child Know This Person Wasn’t Born A Man???

A bunch of uptight, bible-belt-y moms have decided to wage war against the good folks at ABC for allowing Chaz Bono to appear on “Dancing With The Stars” with a female partner. These mothers and general LGBT haters feel like watching Chaz on DWTS would be traumatizing to children. They also feel like this is just another attempt to the LGBT lifestyle onto people who think its wrong. But our question is: how would your child know that Chaz Bono wasn’t born a man unless you told him or her? And for the kids who are big enough to know, don’t they kind of already know what’s up?

Karen Rodriguez Creates Bilingual Stir on American Idol

If most American Idol viewers agree that Pia Toscano put on the best semifinalist performance last night among the remaining 12 women, these same fans would say that Karen Rodriguez put on the most interesting. Perhaps even the most scandalous, according to THG readers. The New York native threw in a twist to her rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero,” singing almost half of the song in Spanish. This actually riled up a few respondents in our blog , who called Karen out for daring to be different. Watch the performance now and sound off: Do you see anything wrong with the inclusion of a Spanish verse? Karen Rodriguez – Hero

latest news update,50 Most Popular Women on the Web: Full list topped by Lady Gaga;We thought some of our readers here at OSM would be interested in a list compiled from Google statistics called the ’50 Most Popular Women on the Web,’ which was produced by COED magazine. It’s fascinating reading seeing which female gets the most online attention and many of you may not be surprised to know that it was Lady Gaga who took the top spot. However, some of you will definitely be surprised at the inclusion of teen heartthrob singer, Justin Bieber, who hits the list at No. 7. Yup, I did say Justin Bieber and most of you will have realized that he is in fact male. You can see the full list with this information in an article by Tierney Bricker over on Zap2It. Quite how Bieber made the list is anyone’s guess, unless of course some people think he is actually a girl, or maybe it’s just somebody’s idea of a joke. 50 Most Popular Women on the Web: Full list topped by Lady Gaga was first posted on January 9, 2011 at 2:07 pm.

What can we do to ensure a safe food system in the US? Will the new food safety measures help?

This week, the Senate passed a bill that overhauls the food safety system in America. Although this version of the bill must still be reconciled with the House version passed earlier in the year, if ratified it will make a number of significant changes. The changes would include an increased power by the F.D.A. to recall tainted food and oversee farming. The bill also passed with the inclusion of the Tester amendment, which exempts small farmers who mainly sell locally. Are the changes in this bill a step towards a safer food system? What other things should we be doing to guarantee accountability and access to safe food? added by: sgwhites
