Amy Schumer did a lot more than just talk the talk in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. Or yell the yell, as the case may have been. The comedian, along with a handful of others, got detained and seemingly arrested while protesting the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for one of nine seats on the U.S. Supreme Court. In a video that is making its way around the Internet, the 37-year-old is being led by a police officer toward a large group of protestors that were also being held while at the Hart Senate Office Building on Thursday. “You want to be arrested?” a cops asks Schumer and another woman as he points in the direction of a bigger group that is chanting with officers surrounding them. “Yes,” she replied. As you can see below, Schumer was wearing a green button-down shirt that read “This Today then #ERA” while attending the political event. Emily Ratajkowski was also arrested on Thursday, although we actually are not certain why just yet. Probably for disturbing the peace or trespassing. The mass protests in the nation’s capital this week were in reaction to the FBI concluding its investigation, which was launched after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified last week about her sexual misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh. Many familiar with the investigation believe it was severely limited in scope, as neither Kavanaugh nor Ford were interviewed by authorities. Neither were many witnesses who tried to contact the FBI in order to support Kavanaugh’s version of events. (She alleges that Kavanaugh held her down on a bed and tried to rape her during a small gathering in high school.) Tweeted Ratajkowski shortly her arrest: “Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power.” It’s seeming more and more likely, however, that such a statement will not hold true in the case of Kavanaugh, who is expected to be confirmed to the highest court in the land this weekend. Schumer also carried a sign that read throughout her protest that read “We Believe Anita Hill,” a reference to the woman who accused now-Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in 1991. In a Twitter video shared by Young People For, Schumer can be seen giving a speech to those gathered in support of Kavanaugh and sexual assault victims everywhere. “Let’s stay together, let’s fight. Let’s keep showing up!” the star said to people cheering. Three women have come out and alleged that Kavanaugh acted in a very inappropriate manner with them, from Ford’s accusation of assault … to another woman claiming he pulled out his penis directly in front of her face… to another woman saying Kavanaugh was present while she was gang raped . As mentioned above, the protests took place as senators are preparing to submit their votes on Kavanaugh’s confirmation to Supreme Court justice. An initial vote of the Senate is scheduled for Friday, and a final vote will come over the weekend, according to USA Today and other reliable outlets.
T hursday’s Senate confirmation hearing involving Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh provided the latest opportunity for Black women to stand up against sexual assault. RELATED: What You Need To Know About Ford And Kavanaugh’s Senate Testimonies Dozens of Black women demonstrated against Kavanaugh — the object of Trump’s undying devotion — outside of the Senate building where both Ford and the nominee offered testimonies. Black women also went in on Kavanaugh inside the Senate building. Tarana Burke , the MeToo movement founder, was front and center during Ford’s testimony. These men are wholly uninterested and unmoved by this woman’s words…Dr. Ford has to talk about the worst trauma of her life in front of them. This is the reality of being survivor of sexual assault in this country. #WeBelieveDrFord #WeBelieveSurvivors #metooMVMT pic.twitter.com/WtLLG06okI — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 “These men are wholly uninterested and unmoved by this woman’s words…Dr. Ford has to talk about the worst trauma of her life in front of them. This is the reality of being survivor of sexual assault in this country,” Burke tweeted from the Senate hearing. Listening to this women’s voice shake as she pushes through this moment…my heart. #WeBelieveDrFord #WeBelieveSurvivors #metooMVMT — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 “This is not a trial for Dr. Ford. It’s a job interview for Judge Kavanaugh. Is this the best we can do…” Yes, @SenFeinstein — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 Of course, California Sen. Kamala Harris , who has also been outspoken in opposing Kavanaugh, had some strong statements to deliver during the hearing. She affirmed and defended Ford, who was relentlessly questioned about her story of sexual assault against Kavanaugh. “You are not on trial,” Harris said, knowing that Republican senators were skeptical about the college professor’s character, not just her account. “You are sitting here before members of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee because you had the courage to come forward [and], as you have said, you believe it was your civic duty.” Another Black woman also had a moment during the Ford-Kavanaugh hearing: Anita Hill . Senator Dianne Feinstein , the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, referenced Hill during her opening statement. She recalled a 1991 trip to the airport in which saw a crowd watching Hill’s sexual assault testimony about then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas . She used Hill to make a powerful point. “How women are treated in the United States, with this kind of concern, is really wanting a lot of reform,” Feinstein said. Black women clearly communicated their viewpoints on Kavanaugh, and they showed no sign of backing down. Nicky Nelson/WENN.com Anita Hill Speaks Up Over Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s Request For FBI Investigation Before Appearing At Hearing History repeats itself and we can’t afford to make the same mistakes twice. Judge Brett Kavanaugh is accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman when he was 17 and she was even younger. His accuser is an accomplished academic — a professor named Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and she’s already braved some horrible attacks to speak her truth. She’s now asking that the FBI conduct an investigation into the incident before she’ll take the stand at a hearing herself and she’s being backed by powerful women, including Anita Hill , who was in a very similar situation nearly 30 years ago when she stepped forward about suffering sexual harassment while working with Judge Clarence Thomas, who as a SCOTUS nominee at the time. Watch Anita’s talk on Dr. Blasey Ford’s position below: For anyone against an investigation — we simply can’t fathom WHY we would not thoroughly VET a SCOTUS nominee. Just do the investigation so that the Senate can fairly hear out Dr. Blasey Ford if she does take the stand! And for the people who argue that Kavanaugh was just 17 at the time — 17 is old enough to know right from wrong and to know better than trying to disrobe a woman or take advantage of her. This man will sit on the highest court of the United States if he’s confirmed. His character should be thoroughly investigated and no stone should be left unturned. Hit the flip for Sen. Mazie Hirono’s take on the situation.
I have never sought the spotlight. So stated Jared Kushner after speaking in private to the Senate Intel Committee this week. The son-in-law of Donald Trump, Kusher answered questions in this session about allegations that he colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 Presidential election, following the revelation that he met on a number of occasions with representatives from that foreign adversary. In response to the charges, Kushner said simply afterward: “I did not collude.” He also uttered the above quote about the spotlight, which got our attention because… come on, Jared! We all know you and wife Ivanka Trump appeared on a 2010 episode of the former CW smash Gossip Girl! It's true! You can see for yourself via the screen capture below: For their cameo, Kushner is presenting an award at a New York Observer party, while Trump is seen smiling in the background. It actually aired on the couple's one-year wedding anniversary, and Ivanka later quipped that she wasn't sure you could refer to what she's doing in the clip below as “acting, per se.” Ah, that classic Trump self-deprecation! Check out the throwback video below and think back to a more innocent time… when Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump were simply appeared on teen TV shows, not threatening our national security.
Image via Getty/Drew Angerer/Chip Somodevilla Trump Says He Will Give Sworn Testimony Refuting Comey’s Allegations Yesterday’s political circus felt like a pivotal NBA Finals game considering how the NBA Finals have gone this year. James Comey’s sworn testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee charged that Donald Trump is a liar, a defaming demagogue and an all around untrustworthy person. None of which is a surprise to anyone with at least 1 eye and 1 ear. However, that hasn’t stopped the euphemistically truth-bending Cheeto-In-Chief from fighting back against what many consider a forthright testimony from Comey. According to CNN , Donald is ready to swear to God to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth as well: “One hundred percent,” Trump said when asked about his willingness to deliver sworn testimony. He adamantly denied Comey’s claims that he asked him to end the FBI’s investigation into national security adviser Michael Flynn. “I didn’t say that,” Trump said. The burnt sienna blowhard also refused to comment about the “tapes” he hinted at in his ominous-as-oatmeal tweet about the former director of the FBI several weeks ago. “I’ll tell you about that sometime in the very near future,” Trump said. Asked again, Trump said: “I’m not hinting anything. I will tell you over a very short period of time.” No need to get our hopes up quite yet, but the more Trump tweets, talks and rants, the better. From what we’ve seen thus far, he’s more than capable of incriminating himself.
Major key… DJ Khaled Covers Billboard Magazine DJ Khaled can’t be stopped. The “We The Best” head is currently covering Billboard and giving them a glimpse at his extremely extravagant but also extremely gratitude filled lifestyle. Khaled invited writer Chris Martins to his home for an in-depth look into his world that included a trip to Starbucks on a golf cart and the delivery of a shiny new Escalade to his driveway. The piece gives you some good background info on the breakdancer turned music titan, who also revealed that he crashed Chance The Rapper’s family barbecue to get him on “I’m The One.” Catch some highlights below. On his son Asahd being a “prophet”: “He leans in very closely: “He’s my son, but when I look at him, he’s my prophet, too. I believe me and Asahd was put on this world to show what love is.” On his fear of flying: Khaled, if you don’t know, is terrified of flying. Tony Robbins, the celebrity “life and business strategist,” is trying to help him with this, leaving voice memos every few weeks reminding Khaled he’ll take him up in his jet anytime. For now, Khaled takes a tour bus between homes and responsibilities. Asahd, though, may change that. “He flies private,” says Khaled. “I’m just as stressed out on ground waiting for him, so I might as well be up there.” On crying when he finally got Bieber’s vocals: Weezy knocked it out, and that was it — except Bieber wasn’t done. “I’m calling every day like, ‘Do you need me to bring you tea? Is the AC good in the house?’ Then he sends it. I’m not going to lie. I shed tears.” On people who think he doesn’t do anything: “Anybody who’s confused what Khaled does is an idiot.” He’s perched on the edge of his cushioned seat, waving his arms, voice echoing. “I produce, I write, I orchestrate. I’m a mogul and one of the biggest DJs you’ve seen in your life. I’ll bust your ass on some turntables. You go to my Miami studio, you’ll be blinded by the shining of the [platinum and gold] plaques. What, you think my records get made magically?” Another one! Khaled’s Billboard cover hits stores June 17. You copping???

Feds Press For Daniel Pantaleo Charges For Eric Garner Death Before Trump Becomes POTUS In 48 hours the apocalypse will be upon us and the Federal prosecutors in D.C. know that big change is a-comin’. Thus, they are pressing the gas on getting former NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo charged with the chokehold death of Eric Garner according to the NYPost . A federal grand jury in Brooklyn is hearing evidence in the racially charged police killing of Eric Garner on Staten Island in 2014 — as prosecutors race to get an indictment before Donald Trump becomes president Friday, The Post has learned. Prosecutors from Washington, DC, are presenting the case to the panel, as they seek civil rights charges against white officer Daniel Pantaleo for using a chokehold barred by the NYPD on the black suspect, sources said. There is a growing fear that Trump’s Attorney General nominee, Sen. Jeff Sessions, has a racially biased past and will not seek to charge Pantaleo with civil rights violations. (Loretta) Lynch is now U.S. attorney general, and Trump has nominated U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to succeed her, subject to Senate conformation. Sessions testified last week before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which plans to vote on Jan. 24. Sessions is expected to clear the committee, according to The Hill. Republicans control the Senate with 52 votes, and Sessions has the support of a potential swing vote, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.). Prayers up in hopes that the Garner family can be on their way to justice before Apricot-in-Chief Trump and his minions cop a squat on the entire process. Image via Twitter
