See original here:

Source: The Rewind / Global Grind Global Grind’s bullies, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back once again for another episode of The Rewind . Every week we get our experts to discuss the cultural happenings of the last week and then rate them from a 1-10. In case you have been living under a rock, The Rewind will always be here to get you right. Last week, Takeoff released his first ever solo project outside of the Migos. The album is titled “The Last Rocket” and dropped on November 2nd. Did he indeed take off? It’s been often said that Takeoff, although rather silent and less outgoing than his counterparts, is the better rapper of the three Migos.  Despite getting left off “Bad & Bougie”, Takeoff manages to hold his own. However, does being the better Migos rapper necessarily make him a great lyricist? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are super hip hop heads and they’ve got a lot to say. Landon actually enjoys the fact that Takeoff doesn’t mumble rap for the entire album, citing that “The Martian”, the album’s first track, is his favorite. While Landon, being the Southerner that he is,  is rocking with Takeoff’s latest effort, DJ Franchise is not feeling it one bit. The words “sucked” and “garbage” were thrown around a few times, actually. Landon and Franchise debate the Takeoff album and then fire off with their 1 to 10 rating. Find out what they had to say when you press play. Also, The Meg is coming to DVD very very soon. The film, which stars Jason Statham,  is about a rescue diver who has been recruited to save an underwater crew from a 75 foot long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon that was previously thought to be extinct but ends up attacking a deep sea submersible. The film hit theaters in early August and is now set to be released on DVD on November 13th. Do you think Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are excited to watch the film at home? The two have a difference in opinion once again. One person thinks the movie completely sucked and the other thinks it was great! Find out what they rate The Meg  and whether or not you should check it out for yourself when you watch this week’s episode of Global Grind’s The Rewind .

The Rewind: New MihTy and BlacKkKlansman Comes To DVD

Original post:

Source: Global Grind / Global Grind DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back with yet another weekly breakdown of The Rewind . In case you’ve been hiding under a rock or months, The Rewind is a weekly show that breaks down all of the things you may have missed in the last week. No matter the topic, our guys DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are going to discuss it and then rate it from a 1-10. On this episode of The Rewind, we’re talking  BlacKkKlansman . The film premiered in theaters on August 10th and is set to be released on DVD on November 6th. That’s right, election day! The Spike Lee joint, which was co-produced by Jordan Peele,  stars John David Washington as Ron Stallworth, a black detective in Colorado Springs that goes undercover to not only infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan but also bring down the entire operation before they carry out a plot to harm hundreds of black people. The film did numbers at the box office. It has pulled over $85 million so far but did it really live up to all of the hype? Landon and Franchise give their opinion. For Landon, although the film is obviously about racism, he felt that the racism was very forced in the movie. If you’re sensitive to certain language, be advised that there will be a lot of racial slurs being thrown around in this film — this is the KKK, you know? Also, was accuracy an issue? Find out what Landon and DJ Franchise had to say about that. Then we discuss Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaboration project, MihTy .  The two crooners came together for their release produced by Hitmaka. The project was released on October 26th and has been met with mixed reviews. Jeremih and Ty Dolla Sign have previously released singles in promotion of the album. Over the summer they dropped “The Light.” Then they dropped  “Goin Thru Some Thangz” earlier in October. A few weeks later, they dropped  “New Level”. What did DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius weigh in.

The Rewind: One Killer, 2 Padded Locks & A Slaughterhouse

Source: Global Grind / Global Grind Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are back with a special Halloween edition of Global Grind’s weekly The Rewind series. First, the fellas get into Netflix’s new series, Haunted , which features r eal people sitting down with their friends and family to share terrifying yet true stories from their past, recreated through chilling reenactments. Episode two, Slaughterhouse  featuring Tara Lynne and Sadie, is one of the fan favorites that has everyone talking. Most people want to know if what happened in the episode is even true. The story is about a serial killer grandfather and his grandchildren living in a house.  While DJ Franchise thoroughly enjoyed the series, Landon is skeptical about the authenticity of episode two. Find out how they rate the new spooky Netflix series.  Rapper Mick Jenkins has linked up with the legendary Ghostface Killah for a new single titled “Padded Locks”. The track appears on the Chicago rapper’s newly released project, Pieces of a Man , which got its name from the  1971 Gil Scott-Heron classic and comes two years after his debut album,  The Healing Component.  Once again, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are on opposite ends when it comes to this subject. While one of them loves the new song and feels its a solid effort, the other isn’t sold on the track just yet. Was the song too lyrical that it went over everybody’s heads? DJ Franchise thinks so and the discussion gets heated. Find out how our experts rated this week’s release. To watch the complete episode of this week’s The Rewind, press play on the video above.

Source: The Rewind / Global Grind This week’s episode of The Rewind  is a very special one. This week was a historic one and Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are on hand to break it all down for us. Let’s start with the most important announcement of all. Out of nowhere, though we didn’t deserve it at all, Lil Wayne released the highly anticipated Tha Carter V on us. On September 28, one day after his birthday, Lil Wayne gifted fans with the album they had been waiting on for at least five years. The album, which is on track to be another #1 from Wayne, was loaded with a ton of celebrity talent, including production by Swizz Beatz and Zaytoven and features from Kendrick Lamar, XXXTentacion, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott. Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise take a moment to break down their favorite things about the album and then give it a 1-10 rating from their perspective. Next up, Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise discuss Logic’s new nearly 8 minute track, “Wu-Tang Forever” featuring Cappadonna, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, GZA, RZA, and every other living member of the Wu you can think of. The song appears on Logic’s YSIV project. Obviously, Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are huge hip hop heads but were they feeling this one from Logic? They take a moment to break down the record and give their honest rating. Do you agree with their review? The fellas then discuss the upcoming film, First Man , which hits theaters on October 12. The film is about NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon and focuses on Neil Armstrong, played by Ryan Gosling, during the years of 1961-1969. The film is based on a book by James R. Hansen which details a first hand account of everything that transpired during that historic period. It was rated highly by Rotton Tomatoes, which gave it an 88% rating but were Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise feeling it? You can find out all that and more when you check out this week’s episode of The Rewind ! Press play on the video above. Brought to you by Comcast.

Wet Storms: Donald Trump’s Most Ignorant Moments During Hurricane Relief Efforts

See the original post here:

Source: MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty Images / Getty Unfortunately, over the last few years we’ve witnessed some major hurricanes that haves caused devastation across U.S. territories. In 2017 alone, the U.S. was hit with multiple Category 4 or more hurricanes, including Hurricane Harvey (which hit parts of Texas and Louisiana), Hurricane Irma (which hit various Caribbean islands and parts of Florida) and Hurricane Maria (which hit various Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico). Each hurricane has caused major displacement and devastation amongst residents, and now in 2018, parts of the Carolinas and Virginia have been tragically hit by Hurricane Florence. Relief efforts after each hurricane continues to be a challenge and our current commander-in-chief isn’t necessarily making things smoothers. Even though Donald Trump has made appearances to places hit hard by hurricanes, his insensitive rhetoric and just plain ridiculousness continues to make people wonder how this man became president. Hit the next pages for a teaser of all the outrageous things Trump has said in the midst of tragedy.

The Rewind: Kanye West & Lil Pump, Lawrence Hive Reassembles & More

See the article here:

Source: The Rewind / Global Grind Janeé and Jah hold it down for this week’s episode of The Rewind, where they will be bringing you up to speed on everything you missed in the last week. We start off by discussing the reintroduction of Lawrence to HBO’s Insecure . This was a monumental moment for many reasons. Not only were fans under the impression that Lawrence would not appear in season 3 at all, but this was also the first time Issa’s character has seen Lawrence since becoming romantically involved with her new guy, Nathan. No matter whether you were Team Issa or Team Lawrence in the beginning, you’re bound to be Team Conflicted now. That’s not the only thing that went down this week, however. Oceans 8 , starring  Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Awkwafina, and of course, our girl Rihanna, is finally out on DVD. The film hit theaters on June 8th and if you haven’t gotten to see these awesome lady thieves attempt to pull off a well calculated heist at the Met Gala, this would be the perfect opportunity to catch it from the comfort of your own home. Also, the fairly odd hip hop pairing that is Kanye West and Lil Pump released a very intriguing video that seems to be breaking YouTube records. The track is called “I Love It” and gives us Missy Elliott or Busta Rhymes feels. It featured Adele Givens and was directed by Spike Jonze. The video recently broke a worldwide YouTube record when it garnered over 76 million views in its first week. Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” previously held the record. I guess no matter what side of the fence you’re on with Kanye, you can’t help but to admit that he’s provocative and he gets the people going. If you want to find out more about what you’ve missed this week, let The Rewind get you up to speed. Check out the full video above. Brought to you by AT&T.
